UTF16 equivalent of Control A as delimiter in BCP

Hi,
I'm creating data extract using BCP which will be consumed by Hive. Hive by default understands Control A (0x01) as delimiter. When I create bcp output in -c mode and provide 0x01 as delimiter and try opening it, I can read the output file in notepad.
However when I use wide character format in bcp (-w option), and provide 0x01 as delimiter, the file shows me garbled data when I open it in notepad. Hive can not consume the data as well.
My source data has Unicode characters and so I need to use -w switch in queryout. How can I let it have Control A as delimiter? I tried with the UTF 16 equivalent (0X0001) but that does not seem to work.

Hi,
The bcp utility bulk copies data between an instance of Microsoft SQL Server and a data file in a user-specified format. According to your description, you want to use bcp to export data to Hive file, In Hive file, by default Control A (0x01) can as a delimiter.
However, if you use –w performs the bulk copy operation using Unicode characters, by default,
it uses nchar as the storage type, no prefixes, \t (tab character) as the field separator, and \n (newline character) as the row terminator. If you want to change field terminator, you can use –t
switch to specify the field terminator for all the fields except the last field in the row and using the
-rswitch to specify a row terminator.
By default, I recommend you use the field terminator with character values not greater than 127 or less than 32 for avoiding character encoding problems between Hive file and bcp.
There is detail about characters supported as terminator.  You can review it.

  • I have a new iPad Air and in using the App Store, it seems frozen with an app that I didn't want.   I cannot look at other apps in the store or anything.  How do I unfreeze it?  Something equivalent to Control Alt Delete with Window.

I have an iPad Air just acquired yesterday.   The App Store seems to be frozen and I have on idea how to undo it.  It is as if i clicked on an app to download and it came up but it is frozen.  I cannot get rid of it or go to anything else in the App Store.   I tried downloading that app and opening it - didn't help.  Guess what I am looking for is the equivalent of Control +Alt+Delete in Windows.  Thanks.

Double tap your home button and open apps will appear above as smaller screen shots.  With your finger swipe the open app upwards and it will fully close.
The cntrl/alt/delete option on an iPad is a reboot and to do so, press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME time for about 10 seconds until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart.

  • In Windows I use Control Home, What is the Apple equivalent?

I shell out to DOSBOX to use my old dos based Dbase 4.  I cannot find an Apple keyboard equivalent for "Control-Home".

While running DBase4 (through DOS BOX) and creating a new record that has a memo field, pressing "Control Home" moves from the data structure to a separate file containing the memo field.  There are many commands such as Control W & Control Q that work just fine on the MacbookPro keyboard.

  • I have a iPad 2bought last week.  I am now in Mexico took great pictures at app camera.  Then all of a sudden after 90pictures it will not open up for me to take pictures.  When I click on it I only have a black screen.  I put all my pictures in an album.

My question is .  My iPad stop taking pictures from the app on the screen.  Can anyone tell me why?  I took 90pictures put them in an album. When tap on thephoto icon to takes me to a black screen.  Wh?  Did I press something?

Try resetting your device. Hold down the sleep and home keys, ignoring the red power down slider, and release the buttons when you see hte silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
You won't lose any data, it's juat the apple equivalent of 'control/alt/delete' and often clears up glitches

  • Ipod nano 7th GEN no audio out from head phones jack

I am trying to use my Ipod nano 7th Gen with a monster wireless remote that connects to the charging and sync connection. The remote works fine and I can control the Ipod just fine with it, but when I connect the headphones to the headphone jack there is no audio. If I remove the wireless remote receiver from the charging sync connection the headphones jack works just fine. I am using a lighting speed to a 30 pin adaptor because the monster remote receiver is of the 30 pin format if that matters.
Please let me know if this is normal or if there is a work around. My intention is to use the Ipod connected to a motorcycle sound system using the headphones connection to connect it to the motorcycle system amp and control the Ipod wirelessly.
    Thank you!

Can you provide a link to the monster product, or the model name/number?  If it's a Bluetooth product, it seems superfluous to connect the receiver to the dock connector, because the 7th gen nano has built in Bluetooth.
So, IF the remote control device is Bluetooth, you may be able to pair to it from the nano without connecting the receiver device to the dock connector.
If it's not Bluetooth, you may be able to find an equivalent remote control device that IS Bluetooth, and not need to connect anything to the dock connector, which seems to be the source of the problem.

I updated my itunes on my computer as directed.  I plugged in my ipad2 to update it.  I saw a message that said my ipad was being downloaded.

  • Mouse

I'm using the mouse that came with my eMac and didn't have any issues for a long time. The problem I'm having now is that when I click on a link to download a file, nothing happens. Most sites suggest right clicking, but I've never have been able to do that but could still download by holding the click until the dialog box gave me the options I wanted. I'm no longer able to do that with this mouse. Do I need to puchase a new one?
We have a track ball that we use with the iMac and I'm able to right click to download without a problem.
It's not a major problem, but does cause some issues. I hope you can shed some light on correcting the problem and save me some $$ before I go and purchase a new mouse.

Following up on roam's post, and agreeing that it sounds like the mouse's right click button at least has worn out, note that you can use any standard three-button USB mouse with OS X, no additional software necessary. Any manufacturer's software that's included would be needed to use advanced features, but the basics --- click, page scroll, right-click equivalent to control-click --- will work out of the mouse's box. That allows you to use whatever mouse feels right to you (visiting a local computer store that has a mouse display to allow hands-on checking is well worth paying a marginally higher price for the mouse). You can find some nice mice for around US$20 (check Small Dog Electronics); you don't necessarily need to pay $50 for Apple's own mouse.

  • Vertical Printing in SAP Script,

    Dear Friends,
I have one requirement in SAP Script.
I need to print Fixed Text in SAPScript but Vertical .
Could anybody help me on this issue.
    Regrads
    Vijay

    hI
PCL5 commands are specific to HP printers. So you need to find out the exact printer control language for your Datamax printer becoz even if you follow exactly the same as the steps below, you may not be able to get your desired output, becoz your printer may not understand PCL5 commmands.
Note: The steps illustrated below are what I did for the HP printer that I used. Caution: If you try to use it on other printers, be prepared for cases like infinite loop- the printer may keep on churning out pages of unreadable characters. Also, you won't be able to see the effect in Print Preview because print commands will only be effected during the actual printing.
I have used the PCL5 commands from this document: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/bpl13210/bpl13210.pdf (refer to P79)
1/ Go to T-code: SPAD > Full administration > Device Type tab > Display Print controls
2/ Change to Edit mode > Click on Create icon > create a Print Control say ZR090, add the Comment > Check 'Use in SAPscript Drivers', 'Use by SAP' > Save it
3/ Go to T-code: SPAD > Full administration > Device Type tab > Choose your Device Type: say HPLJ4 (it is recommended that you copy the Standard Device Type to a new Device Type ZHPLJ4 so that future upgrades will not affect your Device Type.) > Display. (Do select the Device Type of your printer, since I am using HP 4000 series, I chose HPLJ4)
4/ Change to Edit Mode > Print Control tab > Click the Standard Print Controls button on the Application toolbar > Put cursor on the newly created Print Control name in Step 1 and hit the Choose icon on the Application toolbar. The name should appear right at the bottom of the Print Control list. For that Print Control name, select radiobutton for 'Direct', and 'Converted' and the control character sequence is: \e&a90P (if you need a 90 degrees rotation), \e&a0P (for 0 degree), \e&a180P (for 180 degrees), and \e&a270P (for 270 degrees) > Save it. (These are the PCL5 commands specific to HP prnters)
5/ Note: You need to create another Print Control for a 0 degrees rotation to switch back to the normal printing orientation after printing your rotated text. So repeat Step 2 and Step 4 for a 0 degrees rotation
6/ In your smartform, Create a Command before the Text you want to rotate (Right Click on the Node > Create > Flow Logic > Command > Under Generate Attributes tab > Output Options > Include Printer Control > click the Search Help and find the Print Control ZR090 which will rotate everything after this Command to 90 degrees.
7/ After rotating the part of text, if you want to rotate it back to the normal printing direction, insert another Command as in Step 6, but choose the Print Control for the 0 degrees.
8/ Print your smartform to see if that is your desired output.
Note: from my trial-and-errors, exploration and testing, I feel in my opinion, it might not really be worth the while to work on this. Because it needs alot of trials-and-errors and print commands are very specific to the printers (so if client changes the printer, your smartform may be rendered useless unless it uses the same Printer Control Language). Further, I have another problem with this. Even if you manage to rotate the text successfully, the position of the text may not be want you want (becoz of what the command tries to do) . Then you have to take into account the position in the designing of the form.
So here is what I suggest, if you really want to use Printer Controls, search the internet for equivalent Printer Control Language for your Datamax printer (Note that even if you find, the way to use may be different from the above Steps. For eg. for Zebra Printers, the way to rotate text is different as shown in OSS Note 750772).
    Alternatives:
1/ Or you could create a bitmap picture with the rotated text, like wat many have suggested
2/ Find a font type that is able to change the words into a vertical orientation (there are upside-down fonts for a 180 degrees rotation, so you might want to do a search for a font that meets your requirement) and then upload to SAP.
3/ The last one which might be more viable is to use Adobe Interactive Forms. A colleague told me that one is able to change orientation of text in it (I have not tried it before) but you can do some exploration b4 commiting to using it. You don't have to output to PDF to use it. Normal printing is also possible. The T-Code for this is: SFP (type 'S*' for SAP examples, do an exploration on Layout tab, maybe it can provide a new alternative).

  • On a Mac, how do I close tabs or windows where dialogs have popped up trying to download malware and you cannot close them?

On a Mac, how do I close tabs or windows where dialogs have popped up trying to download malware and you cannot close them? I think it's Ctrl+F4 on a PC. I would like to close just these tabs or windows instead of having to quit the whole firefox program.

The equivalent of Control+F4 is Command+W, I have not tried it but you may still get the alert boxes when closing a tab using this method.
The AlertCheck add-on can be used to block the infinite loops such as this - https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/alertcheck - This functionality is built into Firefox 4.
An alternative method in Firefox 3.6.* is to temporarily turn off JavaScript. Open the Firefox preferences window, go to the Content panel and de-select the setting "Enable JavaScript" then click OK. You will then be able to close the tab, and can then re-enable JavaScript.

  • Is there WINDOWS KEYBOARD shortcut to restart a mac ???

Using a "WINDOWS KEYBOARD" (no "eject" button), is there a keyboard shortcut that will bring up the shut down/restart menu?  Equivalent to "control+eject" on a mac keyboard?
Reason I ask:  Periodically, my Apple bluetooth devices (keyboard, trackpad and mouse) becomes completely unresponsive while my imac (2011 iMac running Lion 10.7.2) is in sleep mode - pressing a key on the bluetooth keyboard, trackpad or mouse will not wake the iMac up from sleep mode. Pressing the power button will wake the iMac, but I can't type in my unlock password because the keyboard is unresponsive.  When this happens, I plug in my spare "WINDOWS" keyboard via USB, at which time I can use this USB keyboard to wake the iMac and type in my unlock password.  Now I'm "in my computer" and only the "WINDOWS" keyboard is working (bluetooth trackpad and mouse is still unresponsive).  Only thing that will "reset" my bluetooth devices seems to be "restarting" my iMac.
Using this "WINDOWS" keyboard, I'm looking for a way to shutdown/restart my iMac using a keyboard shortcut equivalent or similar to "control+eject" on the apple keyboard - which brings up the shut down/restart dialogue.  The "WINDOWS" keyboard obviously does not have an "eject" button.  I've tried some of the F12, F11 etc keys with no luck . . .
Hope someone has a solution to this.  I'm trying to avoid "hard rebooting" the iMac as a last resort.
    Thanks

By holding ctrl + F12 for a couple of secs will get you the shutdown menu on a Windows keyboard.

    Hi all,
I have recently installed Oracle9i database on Windows XP on my personal computer.
First of all I could not find the equivalent of Control Panel > Services on Windows XP. Secondly how do i make my database service manual,so that it does not start whenever i start my machine.

  • Move Playhead

    Hello, all,
I know there is a command to move a region to the playhead position. Can we move the playhead to the beginning of a region? If so, what's the command?
    Thanx!

As CCT said, the command is called Go to Selection Start. The default keystroke is shift-return. In the US preset (and I think some other presets), the keystroke is control-home (which is what Erik said).
If you have a keyboard with no home key, the equivalent of control-home is fn-control-left arrow.
I tried but it didn't work. I even deleted the one that was assigned and reassigned "Cmd Arrow", but no luck.
I think what's getting you into trouble is that there are two commands called Go to Selection Start. You'll see that if you type that exact phrase in the search box in the key commands window. They are different commands, and they are assigned to different keys. It's just unfortunate that they happen to have the same exact name.
One command with that name (Go to Selection Start) is a Global Command. That's the one you want. The other one is strictly for the Sample Editor. When you "deleted the one that was assigned" you had probably selected the wrong command (i.e., the one that was associated with the Sample Editor). Pick the other one and you'll see that it probably is already assigned to one of the keystrokes I mentioned. Or don't even bother opening the key commands window. Just select a region in the Arrange window, make sure the playhead is not at the start of the region, and press these two keystrokes:
    shift-return
    control-home
I bet one of those keystrokes will make the playhead jump to the start of the region.
Remember that Return and Enter are not the same key.
