UWL-version management and Workflow

Hi all
I have a UWL which opens a WD Java application when any work-item is clicked. This leaded to some changes in the workflow in the back-end. Its working fine.
But the problem is for the tasks which are built from the old workflow because the tasks (made from the old workflow) do not recognize the new workflow.
Is there any work-around to handle this issue so that we can check whether the work-items are from old workflow or the new one? Does UWL provide any such facility?
Or do the tasks built from the old workflow can recognize the new one?
Please provide any pointers.

Hello Monika,,
If i have understood your question correctly, its the same work flow which has been modified to do something more than the previous version and not a new workflow entirely.
If above is the case then you could probably build the logic in the WD application which handles the task once it has been clicked in UWL. I dont think there is any feature to provide this out of the box.

Working with version management and promotion management best practices BO 4.1

I wondered if anybody knows if there is a document or something about best practices to work with the version management and promotion management in BO 4.1?
Our Environment includes two servers. The first one is our development and test server. The second server is our prod system.
Now on the dev server we have basically two folders called dev and test. We control access to them with a right system based on the folder structure.
My question now is how you would work in this scenario (third server is not an option). Main target is to have as few reports as possible. Therefore we try to work with the version management system and only have one version of each report in the dev folder of the cms. But this is where problems start. Sometimes the newest version is not the version we want to publish to the test folder or even prod server.
How would you publish the report to the other folder? Make a copy of the concerned report (transport to the same system via promotion management is not possible). Also how would you use the version management in regards to the folder structure? Only use version management in dev folder and export reports to test folder (out of vms control) or also use vms in test folder and how would that work?
Further more I’d be interested in learning best practices with promotion management. I found out that the promotion of a report that doesn’t exist in prod doesn’t make any problems. But as soon as an older version already exists there is only partial success and the prod folder gets renamed to “test”.
Any suggestions on how to handle these problems?

So you are basically proposing to work with the vms in the dev folder and publish the desired version to the test folder. And the test folder is out of version control in this scenario if I understood you correctly (like simple data storage)?
And how would you suggest promoting reports to the prod system? Simply by promoting the
desired version from dev folder directly to prod? This would probably lead to inconsistence because we would need to promote from dev system to test and dev to prod instead of promoting a straight line from dev over test to prod. Furthermore it would not solve the problem of the promoting result itself (A new folder called dev will be generated in prod but the report gets promoted to the prod folder if there was no report before).

of other tutorials and papers describing the basic promoting process. The promoting process in general is clear to me but I wondered if it is possible to change some parameters to prevent folder renaming for example.

My company is considering a document management solution integrated with a work flow package in regards to automating and providing visibility into our entire account payable process. I was wondering if anyone out there has implemented such a solution, how long it took to implement and what the licensing costs were. Environment PATH is corrupted, need some expert RVM ruby version manager and environment PATH

I have some serious issues with my ~/.bash_profile and I think I just figured out what it is.   I have a ~/.bash_profile for myself as a normal user and another one as root user. They should be the same. I am the administrator and the regular user and anything I do as root I should be able to do as a user in the least case it should work as root user.
I really munged editing my path so I'm trying to reconstruct what I did and what I need it to do. I would just like to get it back to where it was and add RVM and Sproutcore to my PATH. That is all I need to do. To explain it though I have to walk you through what I did wrong.
1. This is how my ~/.bash_profile is as a regular user . I thought this should work with adding the two new programs to my path RVM and Sproutcore. So far not so good.

2. This is how my ~/.bash_profile is as the root user. AS you can see I was going through the RVM install I guess a couple of times and it added something to my path. This mostly looks right to me though. I want my zend server to still work I probably added /usr/local/sproutcore to the end. I don't know if that is right. maybe I was supposed to do export $PATH and all that instead of just adding it to the end but that is what I did.

I even thought of going to the environment.plist and editing it in Xcode but I don't know what the key value pairs should be if it can be fixed otherwise then we can skip that step.
This is what I need to work as well as adding the path to sproutcore but this is the error I get when running it and it is installed correctly.
RVM is not a function, selecting rubies with 'rvm use ...' will not work.
You need to change your terminal settings to allow shell login.
Please visit https://rvm.io/workflow/screen/ for example and their manual says this, so I need the RVM to work with the shell this way below.
Can someone help me get the shell down below working in conjunction with my .bash_profile ?

1. Open command prompt in elevated mode(Run as admin)
2. Go to the .msi and run the command msiexec.exe /i "name of package.ms

Advice on color management and workflow?

I'm new to photography and trying to learn color management, so I had a few questions I was hoping I could provide some advice on. My objective is to get what I see on the screen to match the prints I get from Costco.
First, I've calibrated my screen (G5 24" Al) with a Huey. In Huey Preferences, I select "web browsing and photo editing" (I think this gives me a particular color temp and Gamma setting).
I'm on my third Huey device, the first two seemed to give me a red/brown color cast; I calibrate at night with all the lights off and the brightness to the lowest setting - even then, can you accurately calibrate these glossy screens?
Next, in my Display Preferences, I make sure the Huey profile is selected. Then, I download the Costco printer icc files from the appropriate website. I install these into user/Library/ColorSync/Profiles. I can see them when I open ColorSync. I assume this is the right way to go?
Lastly, I'm using a Rebel XTi set to sRGB colorspace and working in RAW. I noticed however that the camera embeds sRGB for JPEGs, but Adobe 1998 for RAW.
Now, in Aperture:
What Proofing Profile should I use? Adobe 1998 (since that's what came in on the RAWs), or my Huey profile (since that should match my iMac's Display Prefs setting)? Or the Costco profile (since that's the printer I'm trying to get prints on)?
Let's say I get the picture looking the way I like with contrast, exposure etc. while using Adobe 1998 proofing profile. If I then select the Costco profile for proofing, my picture gets dark, washed out and loses a ton of detail and contrast. (I noticed this also happens if I export, open in Preview, then use Assing Profile and select the Costco profile). I looked at the Costco profile in ColorSync and it appears to be a smaller gamut that Adobe and sRGB. Does this sound right?
In the end, I can always select "auto color correct" when I upload to Costco for prints, but I'd sure like to understand if I'm doing something wrong!

Colour temp should be 6500k,gamma 2.2.
In aperture you should set the proofing profile at what is coming of the camera ie adobe 1998 for raw etc.Work on images in the profile from your camera.
In the aperture presets under image export set the coloursync profile to your costco profile.
Export your finished images to a folder on your desk top and then get them printed.
This works for us ( we do the same with photoshop ).We send images to fuji machines ects and the results match what we see on screen.
Your image will look bad because you are looking at it in the profile for the printing machine.May be send a couple of test prints first to check it out.
Also check with your lab to see if they have an upto date profile for their machine,drycreeks profiles
could be quite old or may not match the current paper type the your lab is running.
hope this may be of some help,but please note that this is the way we do it,there may be a better way or a different way,

Version Management for SPRO

No this is not my question .
I goto transaction SIMGH. Select my IMG structure and enter which displays all the nodes attached, Now a user has made changes and a few nodes are missing . Any changes in IMG will be done only to a transport requst.
I want to check what changes hve been made to the nodes.
e.g when we want to check changes for a ABAP prog. we goto the version management and check changes made and which transport request is it in.
can such a check be done for IMG changes . This is my question. Hope i am clearer this time .

Version management output type issue

hi,
we have activated version management and all working fine .
but while taking print out through ME9F we have assigned to 3 output types (NEU,ZNEU,ZNIU) for a single PO , until and unless we take print for 3 output tyes we are not able to amend the PO .we are getting the below error .
"No new version created because a message has not yet been transmitted"
is there any option if we take print for one output type(ZNEU )out of 3 output types(NEU,ZNEU,ZNIU) it should allow us to do changes in PO .
please assist we need to close the requirement on priority .

No i don't think so system will create new version.
new version is created when you output PO completely
try this create pool request for other two message in Message tab in PO in ME22N and then try PO it will work

You make the settings here for activating the version management:
SPRO --> MM --> Purchasing --> Version management --> Set up version management for PR -->here make the settings and tick on the activate indicator...
Now define the relevent fields which shd go under version change:
SPRO --> MM --> Purchasing --> Version management --> Version relevent fields of PR's
If you wanna set up change displays and its output, then make settings here:
SPRO --> MM --> Purchasing --> Version management --> Set up change displays...
NOTE: You can only release this PR fully if you tick the version completed indicator in the PR document...
Similrly you can activate for Purchase order

Is it possible to keep the Version Management and Transport History? Can this be imported and applied to ECC 6.0 client after/during upgrade?

The modification adjustment of the ABAP Dictionary objects is performed before downtime. This
is possible since the complete version management is available in the shadow system.
Even the upgrade guide details this.

PVCS Version Manager Interface to Jdeveloper -- need help with install

Several of our developers are using Jdeveloper and we need to know how to install the PVCS Version Manager interface to JDeveloper.
I have already contacted Merant, the vendor for PVCS Version Manager and they could only confirm that the interface existed but was supported by Oracle.
I have not been able to find any documentation on installing this interface.
Can anyone supply directions or point me to someplace to look for them.
Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

not yet developed an extension for JDeveloper to enable users to work with PVCS Version
Manager, which I believe is a specific product, rather than an interface.
This is why I'd greatly appreciate it if you could possibly provide more details of this Interface
and indeed what Oracle support for PVCS with JDeveloper Merant referred to. Please see my
first posting above for more details.
Brian - I'm sorry you do not agree with our approach of using the open published SCM Framework
to build your own extensions for using JDeveloper with other source code control tools than those
we support.
In an ideal world, we would have been able to offer support for every source code control tool on
the market with our first release of 9i JDeveloper. We were very keen to be able to achieve this and
we still plan and are currently looking into supporting more tools going forward and as many tools as
possible in the long term.
Unfortunately, we only have limited time available for each release and based on the feedback we
received, after our committment to support Oracle9i SCM, CVS and ClearCase were the most requested.
Therefore, we tried to reach a compromise to enable users to provide their own support for a specific
tool should they wish, if they did not use any of those tools supported. Indeed, our research suggests
that the market for source code control tools is quite fragmented and that customers use a wide range
ot tools. So, we decided to publish our own SCM Framework, the same one we used for the SCM, CVS
and ClearCase support, in order to help users build their own extensions in a similar way to ours.
