V04 issues, poor selling practices by BT, worse cu...

just spent most of my Sunday with my parents trying to sort service issues with BT, both retired and struggle with technology - 3 visits by engineers to sort BT vision, (cancelled Sky and moved in Oct 2011 on my rec..) and they still cant use.. why didnt the engineer just tell them at the beginning they would not get services if the BB speed was below 2mb??
Add poor Customer service trying to sort out payment charges... 3 calls, 3 confirmed texts.. expecting another C-Up next month..
Come on BT sort it out, really poor.
perhaps we should all move back to Sky?

Hi Jackevajo,
If you send me in your parents BT details using the link found in the "About Me" section of my profile, I can take a look at this for you.
Thanks

  • Poor business practices and customer services

Best Buy, that's a LIE!  Shoppers beware!  I purchased a Sony theatre system from Best Buy, store #251 at 8290 W. Bell Rd, Glendale, Arizona, which was on sale for $249 ($10 less expensive than Walmart), 12-days prior to my wife's birthday.  I gave it to her on her birthday and attempted to return it within the 14-days of actually giving it to her, but past the 14 days from original purchase.  I brought the item back to the same store and Best Buy told me they won't accept the return and for me to just keep it, they will not accept a return.  It was in perfect working condition, but for some reason they said even if it wasn't working I had to give it to their 'Geek Squad' to repair it.  Even If it wasn't working I would've wanted a new replacement under 1-year warranty.  This was something very strange I never heard of before from any retailer.  It was working fine, so this wasn't an issue, but I was puzzled to hear them say something about their replacement policy.  Wow, watch out when you buy a product, you never know if it's new, used or repaired!   I also contacted customers service by telephone on several occassions and they regurgitated their written policy of no returns past 14-days.  I explained that I am a totally disabled veteran with limited income, plus my wife has been battling cancer that spread to her lungs and that she has been undergoing chemotherapy, plus she was hospitalized three days the week prior and two days the next week and several additional times since, due to the chemo treatments.   I explained to them I believe they should be flexible and compassionate, use good will and good faith to accept our return because of these circumstances beyond our control.  I asked them, what is someone to do when they purchase an item, that's on sale, in advance of someone's birthday, Christmas, anniversary, wedding, etc., and it's past the 14-day return policy and they try to return it. I received no answer.  After requesting to speak with a supervisor and explaining all this information and requesting they allow us to return the item, Best Buy stopped all communication with us!  We haven't heard a word from them and we are now left with the Sony system we cannot use.  They show total disregard for both my wife's and me and totally lack of customer service and appreciation in the entire matter.  They seem to be only concerned with the bottom line, greed and Money!  I'm totally disgusted with their policies and business practices.  They don't care about the customer, only the bottom line, lining their pockets with our hard earned money!  I may have saved $10 at Best Buys price of $249 versus Walmarts price of $259, but it cost us $270 for a product that is useless to us, just becuse they will not allow us to return the item. cheaper doesn't mean BEST BUY!   I never had a problems returning any items to Walmart!!!

    Hello Ken1,
I was very disheartened to read of your wife's condition and I my best wishes go out to her. I also wish to thank you for your service and sacrifice for our country. I was further dismayed to read that your intended gift of the home theater system didn't meet your needs and that you weren't able to return it as expected. Certainly causing you aggravation was never our goal.
As published on your original receipt, our website, and posted in your local Best Buy store, our Return & Exchange Promise allows for a return or exchange of a product within 15 days of purchase (30 days for My Best Buy Elite members and 45 days for Elite Plus members). Outside of this time frame, we are unable to offer a return or exchange.
I'm grateful that you took the time to write to us and for your feed back on our Return & Exchange Promise.
    Sincerely,

  • Verizon's Poor Business Practices

    Remove
This is the beginning of a media blast and campaign to inform the public of how shabbily Verizon has deliberately treated one of their customers.  My daughter had service with them, and Verizon allowed a third party to order a phone on her account, and have it shipped to a non-account address.  (Yes there has been a conversation with her about making passwords harder to figure out).  In the process of straightening this out, Verizon insisted that her contract termination date remain the date that was the date of the illegally added phone and they refused to change back to the original date.  At the same time, she moved back in with us, and it was discovered that Verizon could not provide her with service in our area.  After a great deal of back and forth with Verizon, in particular their representatives Tiffany # <Deleted>, Keith # <Deleted>, & a woman whose name I failed to write down but said her ID# is <Employee information removed per the TOS.>, Verizon is now demanding that the cell phone itself be returned to them, but they will not issue a refund??  They are going to refurbish the phone, sell it to someone else, or hand it out under warranty, and our daughter has to pay for that? In addition, in spite of the assurances by Keith that there would be no charge for early termination, Verizon has tacked a charge onto the account, and has started calling my daughter's aunt about the charge, in spite of the fact that they have been told/authorized to contact me regarding the account.  In addition, each of the aforementioned reps has promised that a supervisor would call me, (there is never one available, these people must work unsupervised), and of course this has never happened.
I welcome contact from anyone else with a similar situation, either past or present in order to investigate legal action against Verizon.

That is because the people editing the comments don't necessarily know anything about Verizon services, plans or business practices. They are simply forum moderators, not CS reps. Not everyone is capable, proficient or qualified in performing all tasks, or even allowed to do so.
For example, when you go to the emergency room at your local hospital and someone is emptying the garbage while you are waiting to be seen, you could just as easily say "nice of them to have time to empty the garbage but don't have time to see me" when in fact the person emptying the garbage does not have a job which includes "seeing" patients. You most likely would not even like the outcome if THAT person was the one to diagnose your condition.

  • "Onsite Next Business Day Warranty" - Current Warranty Request/Warranty Issues/Poor Service

TL;DR at the bottom of the post, detailed information in between.   I have had a T430s for a little less than three years.  I have called the warranty/customer service ~5+ times and every time gotten extremely poor service, whether it be because parts were "backordered" for weeks at a time, or because "Next Business Day" service has been anything but. I have decided to take a different route for my most recent warranty request, I will keep an up to date account of my request via this forum, with the intent of informing as many as possible with the current state of "Onsite Next Business Day Warranty". I called the warranty ~1hr ago and filed a service request.  The outcome of the request was that "I should receive a call in the next day or so, no later than 5:30PM tomorrow" when the employee I spoke with arrives in the office.  I pressed as to who would call, the employee would not answer definitively, but hinted that it would be his manager, because my warranty request apparently contained "so many parts that it required approval".  The parts have not been shipped, and it was abundantly clear that the subject of the call would be whether this warranty request would get approved. Hopefully, readers can already tell where this is going, next business day onsite repair apparently means in the next 24 hours, you will receive a phone call letting you know if Lenovo will honor their warranty obligations that have already been paid for. To detail my issues:1. The fingerprint scanner has stopped working for the second time. 2. I have had an issue where when I pick up the laptop on the lefthand side, the screen turns to 'snow' and will not return to its regular condition until next boot.  The laptop is unusable in this condition.  I have been attempting to get this fixed essentially since I purchased the laptop, however, after 3 technicians came to 'fix' the issue, it has not been solved.  I have asked/suggested every time I have called the warranty line that the issue is the system board, and it needs to be replaced.  Every time, they have refused to replace the system board, instead opting for other parts, some of which were on 'backorder' for over a month (remember, "Next Business Day Onsite Repair").  The difficulty in obtaining warranty service from Lenovo has caused me to only attempt to get this fixed when other issues pop up, as they have in this case.  Frankly, this issue alone should have caused Lenovo to call this laptop what it is after warranty request #2, a lemon, and they should have/should send a replacement model. 3. The laptop will not 'awake' from sleep mode - when the lid is closed, the keyboard/power button will not respond, and all power sources (battery, charger cable) must be removed and the laptop restarted. 4.  When the laptop is booted up, there is a 'CMOS' error message - I have never had a BIOS battery 'go' in this short a time frame. Issues 1,3, and 4 have cropped up in the last week. The warranty employee suggested that I might need to send my laptop in for 'Depot' repair instead of onsite, which in this instance will not work because of the significant delay that may entail.  I have a professional licensing/certification exam this month, and would greatly prefer that my laptop be in tip-top shape for the exam.  The need to have the greatest level of uptime is what caused me to pay for the NBD Onsite Warranty in the first place. My previous (horrible) warranty experiences and requirement for expedient repair have led me to seek a better method for resolving issues, namely airing them in a public forum, which hopefully will elicit a response from someone who can actually get things done in the warranty department. I have 0 hope of receiving next business day repair (or even repair by Friday, as the warranty explictly says calls received after 4:00 PM might take 2 business days).  I am skeptical that the issue will be resolved in the next week or two. Likewise, I have little hope that [some of] the problem(s) will actually get resolved after "repair" has been made, as historically that has not been the case for me with this laptop.  I will be voting with my dollars after this, as I have been uniformly unimpressed with Lenovo customer service/warranty/etc.  The laptop has been very nice when it doesn't have issues (and when I don't forget to grab it in a certain way), however, everything else about Lenovo has been exceedingly frustrating. The TL;DR of this is:1. If you work for Lenovo and can help, or if you don't and can help, please do!!!  I will be extremely grateful for any assistance. 2. DO NOT under any circumstances purchase the Onsite NBD warranty thinking that the warranty will live up to the title.  I have never received NBD Onsite warranty service, despite repeatedly 'giving' the option to Lenovo to provide such service. 3. If you are considering purchasing a Lenovo product, please read some of the stories people have on their dealings with the support side of the business.  I will speak for myself and say that I will almost certainly never buy another Lenovo product again, and will strongly encourage everyone I know to do the same - after recounting my issues with them.

    Hey burgerbone,
Sorry to hear about your troubles getting your machine issues resolved. I am not sure of the onsite policy related to your symptoms but I will be happy to look into it for you.
Do you mind sending me a PM (Private Message) with your machine/case info?
    Thanks!

  • O2 (UK) 3g issues-Poor signal Edinburgh

I bought an iPhone 3G couple of weeks after it came out(Edinburgh, UK). Since then, i haven been able to use 3G speeds only for minutes. Switching from 3G to 2G and back to 3G is unreliable when you move in and out of coverages. This leads to dropped calls, missed calls, etc. I have been using 2g literally all the time and am only able to download large emails via wifi at home. This is hugely disappointing. When I contacted customer services at O2 they say Edinburgh doesn't have many 3G cell towers. ALso suggested i dropped in at one of their stores to check if the handset is faulty. At the store, my phone showed similar number of reception bars as their display phones....so not an issue with only my phone. They also said that the signal in edinburgh is due for a boost(whatever that means). But when I hear about 3G issues around the world, I am having second thoughts about the problem being merely in the network. Is it a combination of poor O2 coverage and faulty 3G chips in the iphone3G?

And you're not alone in Edinburgh, either: I can't make any calls with 3G switched on - I just get a "call failed" message. The problem is only a few days old; prior to that, it was working perfectly. Is the latest update to blame?

Item type retrieval and registration requires a connection to the systems and may take a couple of minutes.  Please be patient.
For each system they are generated as the configuration named 'uwl.webflow.<systemalias>' or 'uwl.alert.<systemalias>'.
After configuration changes on the backend, the system has to be re-registered.

  • Poor Customer Service and even worse delivery experience

I purchased a $2500 washer dryer (electric) set last week.  Mine went out so I needed something quick.  Went to best buy and purchased the 2nd most expensive set they had.  Guy admitted he knew nothing about the products he was selling me because he was a Home theater guy but they didnt have any appliance specialists at the store.  So I read online reviews and got another guy who claimed he knew something about them (he didn't).  I made my purchase anyway and had to wait 6 days for delivery on an in stock item.
I got the phone call from the automated system my delivery would be between 11-3 today.  At 9:00 AM they show up.  No call or anything so I wasn''t exactly ready for them but was happy to get my appliances.   I was then told since I didn't unhook the old set they would not install the new one (let me remind you its an ELECTRIC Dryer) and a washer.  I purchased all the goodies that was required (over $200 in cords, vents, stack pc, etc from best buy) and got the in home delivery and installation and haul away.... also I am a Best Buy ElitePLUS member so I get that for free anyway.
After pressing the delivery guys they then said OK but we also wont install it because it looks to be a "hard install" and its a tight space so its not easy for them to intall and they were worried about hitting my wall.  I said I didn't care they could hit the wall if it was an accident I understood.  They said its not up to me and they wanted to leave the washer and dryer outside for me to deal with.  Its -30 degrees in Minneapolis today I told them it couldn;t be left outside.  I had to remove my car from my garage to have them put it there so they could "move on to their next delivery" they were on a "Very tight timeframe".
I called best buy customer care.  I was told to call back tomorrow they cant help me today because my delivery is "in transit".
Thanks for nothing Best buy.  I understand its only $2500 and you make $50billion.  Wish Dick Schultz was still in charge he understood good customer service.
Best Buy, If you care please call me or email me.
    A dissapointed customer,

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi gotwins1985,
I of course can understand your disappointment, and with how brutally cold it has been around here lately I can see why having them left outside would be more than upsetting. It is correct that we do sometimes use other delivery companies to deliver out appliances for us, but this is not always the case.
I did look at your receipt. I show you did pay us for home delivery, but do not see you paid us for appliance installation. Our delivery service does include basic hookup of the new appliances, but would not include disconnecting any old appliances. Home delivery would also not provide for installation services.
If this delivery team did not feel basic hook up of the new appliances was all that would be required, they should have advised you appliance installation services would need to be purchased. With that said, it sounds like they re-evaluated the situation, and have now hooked up the washer and dryer. If you have any specific requests for me just post back to this thread.
    Thanks for posting,

  • Deceptive selling practices

How come what they tell me my costs are going to be, and what they actually end up being, are two different things? Even though I clarify with a sales representative, again and again, during the selling process, what my monthly cost will be it always ends up being more than they said it would be. It makes me wonder if verizon gives it sales reps license to misrepresent costs in what would be a typical bait and switch scheme.

        Hi, allistershawnmc!
Ensuring we set the proper expectation for an upcoming balance is an important part of the customer experience and you raise a great question! Have you had the chance to review the statement on vzw.com/myverizon? If this is the first bill, it will include both the first partial month and the standard month in advance charges. Each of those charges will have the appropriate dates next to it showing how it was billed. Please let me know if you see anything otherwise. Here is a short tutorial video of our online billing. http://goo.gl/33qSN Keep me posted!

  • POOR BILLING PRACTICES

I have had just about enough with V-wireless billing practices. I do not get a paper billing statement nor do I get an email if my account is over due. I get plenty of promotional emails so I know you have my info. I get one text message then a threatening call on my land line that service will be terminated if the past due amount is not paid immediately!!!!! If you cant be bothered to contact me prior to service interruption then you do not deserve to get paid on time either. Your automated collection service calls me but the billing department is closed so I cannot speak to a real person !!!!  (removed)

I am the OP. My complaint is that I am not receiving a paper bill. I do get the email that the statement is ready, however, in this case I received the text that the bill was past due and not but a few hrs. later I get the phone call that If I don’t make a payment immediately the service will be interrupted. Call it coincidence that as the automated collection calls are going out, the billing department is already closed for the day. So unable to talk to a person about not receiving the paper bill. This is why my rant went out. NO I don’t need a golden chariot to deliver the bill, the postal system would be sufficient. Finally, if you are going to send automated text or phone calls as a reminder that the bill is now past due, give a person a chance to address it before the threats of service interruption. The recording made it sound like if I didn’t use the automated service to make a payment immediately on the phone that I would loose service immediately. This automated phone message came on a Friday evening, not even time to contact my financial institution to get funds in order so that I could make an electronic/automated payment.  Sorry for using the foul language that the moderator had to edit out. In the future I will realize that when an email states that my statement is ready, then I best take the time to log into your website in order to view the due date. Please keep in mind that to err is human, therefore, I am only human and can be expected to make a mistake with my timely payment. Just feeling bullied with no way to contact your company except to go on the message board to express my concerns.  As for any other customers, my rant was directed to the Verizon reps and no one else.  Thanks.

  • Aironet 1100 Ping issues poor connectivity LAN

I have setup an Aironet 1100 on our old office, and we never had any connectivity issues.
A month ago we moved to a new location, some new equipment and i moved the Aironet to the new office.
The problem i am experiencing right now is packets drops. The AP is connected straight to out Poe switch. If i telnet into the switch and do an extended ping command, i can see a lot of packets dropping. I've check the interface duplex - speed and everything looks just fine. I have not change any settings on the AP since i moved it to the new location.
    What else can i troubleshoot?
    Thanks
    Zeek

    1) Did you try rebooting the AP?
    2) Which switch model is it?
    3) How is the switch port connecting the AP configured, trunk or access? If trunk how many VLANs are allowed?
    4) Check the CPU/Memory on the AP, how much is it?
    5) How many clients are connected at once?

  • Warranty replacement shipping issues (Poor Customer Service)

This entire customer service experience has been a complete nightmare.  From mystery hardware problems to a Warranty replacement gone wrong, I'm 100% dissatisfied with HP right now.
This all started when my office printer (LaserJet Pro 200 Color MFP M27) started showing an error code.  it's been so long ago now, I don't even remember what it WAS, but my entire company of IT professionals couldn't get it to work.  We contacted HP through chat to get a warranty replacement, as we were still covered.  I can understand that they need to ask some questions to rule out certain issues and maybe avoid an unessecary replacement, but we were on this support chat for OVER AN HOUR, being asked "have you tried plugging it back in?  Have you tried removing all the ink cartridges?..."
But the fun didn't stop here, no.  We finally got to set up a warranty exchange, and I checked my chat log... I gave the correct adress.  I got the tracking number and monitored the shipment.  It came in to the UPS facility on a friday, was marked as "incorrect address" and sat, waiting for someone from HP to respond and/ or reach out to us to correct it.  Nobody did, (I never got any emails or calls either), and as of Monday, the printer was HEADED BACK TO HP.
I'm going on 2 weeks now without a printer and I can't get in contact with anybody from HP because my warranty on the current printer sitting, useless, in my office has been "canceled" as soon as they shipped the replacement.  I can't get in a support chat because my warranty is no longer in effect and I don't have the S/N of the new printer to get in either.  I can't email anyone directly.  I tried to dispute the warranty, explained my situation in the notice, and got an email that said "Sorry, you have reached the warranty department.  Contact the correct department", and a link to right back where I started.  I'm being pushed around in circles and I am not amused.
Now what are my options?  Pay $30+ for a phone call?  I need this printer, and I'm not paying a single cent for HP's mistakes.
My suggestion?  Get your act together.  This is entire fiasco is pathetic.

AZRiddle, I hope you're feeling better since being released from the hospital. Even as a big company, we understand that some life changes are unavoidable. I'm sorry to hear that your issue is has still not been addressed after several phone calls to our Customer Service Department. • Customer service issues, poor organisational syste...

Hi, I haven't previously 'done' forums but am now clutching at straws.
Phone line dodgy but able to access internet on 26 Aug, fault reported, engineer duly appeared & identified fault as being within 30 metres outside my property (site duly marked....has now washed away we've been waiting so long!). Engineer left with a promise of work to be done but a dodgy line would still be ours. No connection since that day!
Spent a week in communication with customer service outside UK.....told many 'stories' about my phone line .....only consistency was inconsistency as various 'scripts' appeared to be gone through. Frustrating +++ Felt regularly patronised (madam you do not understand) and unconvinced as to the truth of what I was being told, indeed there was often variation within a single phone call (& we made many!).
After various requests and a tweet eventually spoke to UK based customer services (Sunday 31 August) pleasant & apologetic but........be warned the various arms of the organisation do not seem to communicate well (if at all!). Customer service is driven by systems, not customer need....& make sure you ask exactly the right question......today I believed the work would be completed by 18 Sept......later in the same conversation it became apparent that BT Openreach would give another update on that date! So....no phone, no internet (have left home to find a hotspot so I can contribute this message).
So...be warned this 21st century utility is managed by a set of 20th century systems with BT Openreach being shielded from public communication (& some parts of BT too). Communication.......be afraid......it just does not happen effectively. Often pleasant people to talk to but seemingly with no clout across the organisation. Apparently we have been 'escalated' twice'....can't tell.
Going home to internet silence now!

    Hi Verydisappointed,
Welcome to the community forum and thanks for posting!
Sorry it's taking so long to repair your phone line.  It sounds like it's not a straightforward repair and additional work is involved to get you up and running again.
I'm happy to check what's causing the hold up from here.  Click on my username and under the "about me" section of my profile you'll see the link to get in touch with us.

  • Licensing issues for selling our own java app.

    hi guys,
I am just wondering whether it is legal to write our own java applications and sell them to the public. Do I need to obtain a license from SUN or other third parties that provide me the support libraries(for example apache xalan, etc...)? You know, we are just normal individuals, there is no way we can afford the license.

If you have to include code that you didn't write (library or otherwise), ...Last time I checked the JRE could be distributed by a user. The JDK could not. If one uses only the the documented classes in the JDK/JRE then only the JRE is needed. If one is using any other products/api/undoc'd like javamail, j2ee, jmdk, etc then the license will have to be looked at.
Stuff from free ware sources generally have varying restrictions. This can often include the demand that the product must be made available in source code form. There can be other variations, so the license for each download should be checked.
