[v4l-dvb] xc5000 driver won't load, invalid module format

Hi, I recently got a Piccacle PCTV HD Pro Stick for christmas, and have been trying to get it to work. I followed this page, and everything worked, but when I try to load the module xc5000, it gives me the error:
FATAL: Error inserting xc5000 (/lib/modules/2.6.28-ARCH/kernel/drivers/media/common/tuners/xc5000.ko): Invalid module format
Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Smartboy

Hi Mike,
something looks a bit strange for me. On my OEL 5.4 x64 system i have just the following 3 packages:
$ rpm -qa | grep asm
oracleasm-2.6.18-164.el5-2.0.5-1.el5
oracleasm-support-2.1.3-1.el5
oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5 Your packages should be I think the following:
http://oss.oracle.com/projects/oracleasm-support/dist/files/RPMS/rhel5/amd64/2.1.3/oracleasm-support-2.1.3-1.el5.x86_64.rpm

Uninstall all asm packages and retry with just those three.
Good luck!

  • Driver won't load

I created a new boot cd with the BroadCom 57xx driver on it but the driver
won't load. When I type the command in to load the driver it says that the
file doesn't exist. If I change to the path it says it is getting the file
from and load the file from there it loads. Is there anything I can do to
get it to load at boot from the CD without having to load in manually?

  • Oracleasm lib failed to load with "Invalid module format" error

    Hi,
I'm tring to install the oracleasm lib onto our hardened Redhat EL5 server
I've download the oracleasm rpm from this page http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/linux/asmlib/rhel5.html.
    We're using Redhat 5 U 2
    [root@PG673 modules]# uname -rm
    2.6.18-92.el5 x86_64
    [root@PG673 modules]#
The package I downloaded is an exact match with our kernel version
    [root@PG673 modules]# rpm -qa | grep asm
    oracleasm-2.6.18-92.el5-2.0.5-1.el5
    oracleasm-support-2.1.3-1.el5

    oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5
    oracleasmlib-2.0.4-1.el5
    [root@PG673 modules]#
RPM installation went well, but when we run the /etc/init.d/oracleasm configure command, we hit the following error
    [root@PG673 other]# /etc/init.d/oracleasm configure
/etc/init.d/oracleasm: line 207: /usr/sbin/oracleasm: cannot execute binary file
Later we found out that the oracleasm module haven't been loaded, so we try to load it manually, but we hit the "Invalid module format" error.
    [root@PG673 modules]# modprobe -l | grep asm
    /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.el5/kernel/drivers/addon/oracleasm/oracleasm.ko
    [root@PG673 modules]# modprobe oracleasm
FATAL: Error inserting oracleasm (/lib/modules/2.6.18-92.el5/kernel/drivers/addon/oracleasm/oracleasm.ko): Invalid module format
    [root@PG673 modules]#
As I know this error could happen if the driver version is not match with the system kernel version.
The problem is we're already using an exact match version of driver with our system, I can't think of what to do next in order to proceed the installation.
Really appreciate if someone could point me a direction.
    Thanks
    Mike

  • "SM Bus Controller" Driver Won't Load

    Hello all, newby here,
Building a new computer(it's been a couple years since the last one) and at the last minute chose a MSI MB over my usual ASUS.
    p35 Neo2- FR
    Core 2 Quad Q6600, LGA 775, 2.40 GHz
    2- 2GB Buffalo Certified DDR2 Dimm, 667Mhz, unbuffered, Non-EEC
PNY NVIDIA Quadro FX 1500, 256Mb
    Seagate 250GB sata2 16m
    Antec Solo case, sweet!
    Antec Truepower Trio, 550 watt, ATX12v v2.2 & EPS12v
    Bios   AMI V1.1  5/11/2007
    Win XP Pro 64
    ver. 5.2.3790 SP1 build 3790
So when loading the OS the MSI support CD doesn't support the 64 bit OS, so had to manually load the NIC driver and the sound driver.
but in device mangler there's still one driver that won't load
    "SM bus controller"
From within device manager got it to look at the entire MSI support CD but it still won't load, Google is no help either and can't find the P35 chipset drivers at Intel either, I'm guessing this is a chipset driver, the "system management bus controller"?
    thanks in advance

Here are the Intel Chipset drivers for your board: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1261
It's the last one at the bottom of the page.
How come I didn't see that!! I used the other drivers on that page, dohhh. I got the drivers from the Intel auto loader on their site. After loading them the yellow question mark went away for the SM bus controller but then lost all the USB root hubs and the USB mouse, had to remove and re-install them all with the keyboard. Man this build is a real education.

  • IPW2100 driver can't load the module

    Hi everybody,
I have an centrino Dell Inspiron 8600 and I'm trying to make working wireless hardware. I noticed that the installing of the ipw2100 with pacman produces a new directory in the /lib/modules
It's different than my kernel, seems stock kernel directory,
I'm using a compiled kernel and when I try to load the module it doesn't load it and all I see are just a couple of warnings.
    My questions are:
Have I to use an stock kernel?
If yes where can I find some HowTo that explains how to use it?
(I don't like 800x600 terminal, by compiling I can decide to use 1024x768)
If not, have I to use source? I seems strange, I mean, what's pacman for?  :?
    Thank you guys

Ok, I used abs to compile my new module, now I have my module in the right place.
but when I try to load it happen this:
    [root@sanctuary arael]# modprobe ipw2100

Slightly OT, but in the interest of getting you back to the stock kernel - it shouldn't be necessary to recompile the kernel simply to change screen res. What prompted you to do it?
    When I use stock kernel I can't recompile it...I mean it's precompiled ... or not?   :?
To have 1024x768 login shell I can specify during "make menuconfig ncurses screen"... But when I use stock kernel what should I to do, pass to lilo right parameters? Othervise the default is 800x600 and I don't like it to much...but this is just my preference...and is not important...
Using ipw2100 and kernel26 precompiled does't change the situations. I have my module in the right place but modprobe says that there isn't a module called ipw2100...
To use linux I guess that people should be very smart or a guru...and supose that this is not too much my case.  :?
I have also an hp usb printer that doesn't works and I don't understand why. I have to use windows to print. It's very frustrating have hardware but not be able to make it work....

  • Mac Pro DVD drive won't load some software discs

I just bought two sets of Photoshop Elements, and my 2007 Mac Pro failed to recognize all six DVDs. I'm realizing I've had this problem with a few software discs in recent years, including some Final Cut Studio install discs. CDs and regular DVDs work fine - just some software DVDs are eventually ejected by the computer without showing up on the desktop. I have tried cleaning the drive with a disc cleaner.
My way around it has been to put these discs in my PC, make a copy, and then these copies load fine in my Mac. But it's a nuisance, and my PC won't be around forever.
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be? Or a decent external drive (Blu-ray?) that I might want to replace it with?
    Thanks.

I'll try that tomorrow. Thinking it could also be:
    1)  The PRAMM battery. found info on that they can wear out close to 5 years. This MAC PRO is close to that now.  And I use a lot of power on it.
    2) MAC PRO is plugged into a  SURGE PROTECTOR, instead of right into the wall outlet.
    3) Been doing a lot of FORCE QUITS and HARD BOOT -- unplugging it directly when it wouldn't shut down soon enough --  lately this past year.
I just assumed that this MAC PRO with the XEON QUAD CORE etc., was a heavy duty enough NLE,
that i wouldn't have these problems. It's not fully loaded with all the chips it can carry...and I don't have near enough external terabyte hard drives for storing video and audio files to edit. I've been storing wayyy too much
on the internal hard dives and just have to stop that.
I noticed these past few days that much of the LETTERING for hard drive icons and folders' titles
were starting to look in OVERLAPPING of the lettering. That was my first hint that  something was up.

  • External Hard Drive won't load, Disk Utility and System Profiler crashes,

I've had the WD 1TB Passport for Mac for about a year now and as of this afternoon, my MacBook Pro stopped recognizing it. It's encrypted so when I plugged it in, my computer asked me for my password, but then it said there was an error and wouldn't mount. After restarting the computer, the password prompt for my external drive didn't even pop up. I can hear the hard drive spinning and the light flashes for a good 30 seconds before going solid. I have tested my USB ports with flash drives and they are reading them just fine. I tried to run  Disk Utility but it goes into the never-ending loading mode. So then I go to the "About my Mac" page and clicked on storage, and the profiler crashed (never-ending loading). Can anyone help me? It was working just fine up until today. I even tried different Micro USB chords on it. This drive is incredibly important to me and I would appreciate not having to erase anything from it (kinda defeats the purpose of backing up a computer if the external hard drive is the one needing the backup).
    I have a
    Mid 2010 13in MacBook Pro
    OS X 10.8.2
    1TB WD Passport for Mac

Solution may be found if you search in the "More Like This" section over in the right column.

  • Internal Hard Drive Won't Load

    Specs:
    iMac Mid 2007 OSC 10.9.4
Processor: 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    Memory: 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM
    500 GB Hard Drive
So, my hard drive began acting funky about a year ago (would freeze at startup or freeze when trying to click on the Desktop). I restarted my iMac and loaded the installation DVD, using a USB-Hard Drive as my Startup Disk (I know, I know...). Ever since this issue I've just booted from this hard drive and made do with the reduction in speed from using a USB-connected hard drive, as there weren't any significant problems from going about this way.
Lately, though, applications have become significantly slower, to the point where loading more than one tab on Safari or switching from App to App causes the rainbow wheel to spin for a few seconds, forcing me to finally turn to you guys to see if you all could provide any advice.
I tried all the Safe Boot options/resetting the PRAM (at least, I think I've tried them all) and none seem to produce any worthwhile results. Even inserting the Install Disk didn't seem to help. I'm able to view my internal hard drive, launch applications from it, and so forth, but something seems to be corrupted/wrong with it being my Startup Disk.
I've tried Disk Utility to see the problem, and this is what comes up:
When Repairing Disk Permissions: nothing comes up...'Permissions repair complete'.
When Repairing Disk: "Error: Live file system is not supported".
My initial question (which will probably be revised once someone redirects me to what my main issue is) would be: Would I be able to completely erase my internal hard drive, repartition it, then clone my USB drive to this? Would that work the way I'd think it would? Or is the problem deeper than that?
    Thank you.

The smart status is just the first thing to check, if you think there could be an issue with a drive. What I would do, if it was my computer. I would make sure all data I wanted was off the internal drive. I would then format the internal drive, and create a new partition. Then put a clean system on the internal drive. Use migration assistant to move the users, data and applications form the USB drive you have been using.
If I got errors, crashing or very slow functionality from the internal drive, I would look at replacing the drive.

  • CD/DVD drive won't load disks...is it dead?

The HL-DT-ST DVDRW  GA11N drive had always worked with no problem. There was a CD I left in it (without playing) for a couple of months, and when I tried to eject it, the drive kept trying but it would not eject - - a tiny bit of the edge would peek out momentarily, but then it would get sucked right back in, after which the drive would spin up and the disc would reappear in the Finder. After repeated attempts to eject it (including using Finder, iTunes, and Terminal, and restarting the iMac), I was finally able to grab hold of the tiny bit that showed on one eject attempt and forcibly pull it out. That may have been a mistake.
Now, attempting to insert another disk results in absolutely no reaction. It will not trigger whatever is supposed to sense a disc is trying to be inserted. Is the drive dead? Am I pretty much screwed and left with no choice but to hook up an external drive or take my iMac to the Apple Store (where it is out of warranty, of course). I cannot find any way to test or check the status of the disc drive in the built-in disc diagnostics.

I don't really see how that could be the problem -- a) because it was the latest TurboTax disc I was trying to load, which should be compatible with everything, and b) how could the drive possibly know what kind of disc it is if trying to insert the disc doesn't even activate the loading process?
The disc that wouldn't come out was somebody's privately made audio CD, so yes, that could have been a problem (though it didn't have a paper label). But the problem now is that no matter what disc I attempt to insert, I push it in to the point where it meets resistance and nothing at all happens.

  • ITunes library on external drive won't load, iTunes says disk is full and only partial library loads. What is it doing, making another copy?

I have an archive of all my music on an external drive. I wanter to play the music on another computer. When I hooked up the drive and launched iTunes with option key, I linked up the library on the external. iTunes gets part way through linking then says can't load the rest as the disk is full. What disk? What is iTunes doing that it needs more hard drive space for files that already exist? Why can't iTunes just see the files on the external and play them without this seeming dupe process?

Tried hooking up my external drive to my Mini. This morning my Mini had all my info listed, but I couldn't play any songs, for obvious reasons. Now, my Mini is hooked up to the external, iTunes prefs are set on the path to the external - but there is no music in iTunes. No lists, no songs, nada. Just a virgin iTunes window. ***?

  • NVIDIA driver won't load after running Radio Update

I have a mega 180 pc.   I recently had some problems while installing virus protection sw.  Long story short, I got it working again and tried running radio webupdate.  I didn't know what it did but my computer rebooted and now no longer works correctly.  I have restored most functionality with the exception of the following:
      * Internet no longer works
      * NVIDIA Geforce4 MX Integrated GPU will not load!
I consistenly get the following message when I try to load the driver
"error occurred during the installation of device"
"The required section was not found in the INF"
Any clue what is going on here and how I get this working again?
I have noticed a few comments that radio webupdate is a "firmware" update software that supposedly works over the internet.  How can I tell which version of firmware I have?
If I try to re-install the firmware from "MEGA 180 Firmware 0C.zip" using a dos boot disk will this correct my problem?
    Thanks, in advance...

flash the old firmware back to the Bluebird module. i don't think there is an update for the Mega 180, the RadioWebUpdate utility was only for the 651 i believe
not sure how it would affect anything else though, but you might like to try a Repair install of Windows to see if it will fix it. there is a sticky in the Operating Systems forum with detailed instructions

It is not the version of WinPE that is the problem here, but the version of bootsect.exe that gets injected into the boot media.

  • My white 13" Macbook's hard drive won't load

Took my white 13" MacBook to the Geek Squad at Best Buy yesterday who gave me some tricks to try and restore the HD.  Held the option button down while powering up and the screen showed 2 HD's to choose from (Mac HD and Recovery HD).  I selected the Recovery HD and tried to restore it from our Time Capsule which took over 6 hours.  When I woke up this morning, the screen was completely white and restoration was unsuccessful. Any other tricks?

I'm far from an expert. I'm going through a similar thing, but don't have a back up.
Anway, one suggestion: When you start up hold down shift-CMD-V. This is the same as just holding down shift, which does a safe mode boot, but is the "verbose" version, so it'll come out with a whole lot of stuff that probably won't make much sense but it may throw some light onto it. For me I'm getting an I/O error, which I believe indicates the HD is physically damaged, but I'm not sure on that.

  • Canon printer driver won't load

I just purchased a Canon PIXMA iP6700D photo printer. The driver installation disk (Easy Setup icon) takes me past the administrator login, but does not install the driver. Also tried installing from the driver folder on the CD, same thing. So, thinking the CD-ROM might be defective, I downloaded the driver from canon's site; same thing.
After checking the posts here regarding problems with drivers, I followed the procedure to get rid of old drivers in the Library folder and restart. No go.
    Any ideas? Thanks!
