ValidateData in DataForms

We validate data of a Hyperion Planning DataForm via the java script "ValidateData.js". The validation works if the Data Form is opened in the workspace.
How can I validate the data if the Data Form is opened in Excel with the SmartView for Office?
How can I validate the data if the Data Form is taken offline?

I think the validatedata.js can only be used if you are accessing a form through the web, if you want to do the equivalent in excel then you would probably need to start looking at incorporating VBA into the workbook.

You can add row/column layout you can select: Allow users to dynamically add rows.
It will "Enable users who have write access to the data form to dynamically change and refresh the data form’s definition by adding rows. Selected members that they can access display on the data form. You cannot simultaneously select Allow Users to Dynamically Add Rows and Suppress Missing Data. "

Opening a Dataform in SmartView

Hi,
I am using Hyperion version 11.1.1.3. When I am trying to open a dataform in Excel using SmartView I am getting the following error.
"Before You can open this form, you must select a member for the user variable Entity in Preferences."
I know how to set the user variables using Preferences in workspace but I dont know how to do it in smartview. Pls help me with this.

This dataform also needs redesign - user variables are currently not supported (as of 11.1.1.3) in Smartview.
When you find selection of page elements in Planning Webfrontend, you can test this combination in Smartview.
For testing purposes I usually start with an overview form for actual data:
- Columns : all Years, all Level 0 Periods
- Rows: all accounts that are loaded
- fixed point of view that uses top members that will alway show data

Error While Opening dataform after creating Planning Unit Hierarchy

Hi All,
I created a Planning Application through classic wizard. Then i created a planning unit hierarchy, after which I am getting the following error: (when i try to open a dataform, from some user other than admin/owner)
*"Security and/or filtering has resulted in a required dimension not being represented on this data form"*
I know that this error occurs when some dimension members are represented on dataform but are not assigned with security rights. But thats not the problem in my case. Because I assign security rights to all members of all dimension just for the sake of testing. I later on identifed that this error occurs due to dimensions present in POV i.e. I need to select a single member of each POV dimensions, then in such case this error disappears.
Now my question is that why i need to select a single member from each POV dimension? I general i leave POV dimensions as it is, while creating dataform
Right now i aad a dummy member at the top of each dimension, e.g Account_UnSpecified, Entity_UnSpecified and so on . . . and then i select this member from each of POV dimension.

You can try creating new Root folder and new workspace for your NWDS.
1. Create a new folder with name ' <userID>_NWDS_NEW_ROOT ' in your machine
2. Create a new folder with name ' <userID>_NWDS_NEW_WORKSPACE ' in your machine
3. Open NWDS (and logon to DTR)
4. Remove all configurations from your Development Configuration perspective (except 'Local Development')
5. Go to Window --> Preferences --> Java Development Infra --> Development Configurations
6. Change 'Root Folder' to the folder created in step-1
7. Close NWDS
8. Create ' Run_NWDS.bat ' file in your NWDS installation folder which has 'SapIde.exe' file
(it will be generally in --> C:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse)
9. Type following in .bat file -->
SapIde.exe -data "<complete path to folder created in step-2>"
10. Now double click on this .bat file to open NWDS
Now logon to DTR, import configuration, create project from 'inactive DCs' and you should be able to create project and see it in respective perspective.

11.1.2.1 Planning JavaScript steps after updating ValidateData.js

I am working with Planning 11.1.2.1 this is a multiple server deployment (1 web server, 2 planning servers with load balancing).
My question is I have updated the ValidateData.js in the HyperionPlanning.ear.
Aside from deleting the Planning0\tmp directory when services are off. What is the process of getting it deployed.
I have tried to skim through several forums on OTN and there are so many questions left open that I am confused and just need some guidance.
Do i need to update the HyperionPlanning.ear in all 3 servers? Or just the 2 planning servers.
After doing placing the moified HyperionPlanning in the Oracle\Middleware\EPMSystem11R1\products\Planning\AppServer\InstallableApps\Common.
What all services need to be started and stopped for this to take affect
Finally Is there a specific log that tells me if the syntax will correctly validate against my application or that the syntax was accepted?
I was able to perform this on an 11.1.2.3 enviornment with the ADF turned off. the syntax of my ValidateData.js worked seamlessly and there were no flaws. So I can easily post that. Although I don't think it's a syntax issue. I think it's something else although I am not completely positive.

Even if it is clustered you should be able to go directly to each planning server and test, also make sure browser caches are cleared, if you are using firefox and something like firebug you can easily see whether the custom JavaScript has loaded, you should also be able to see if it has deployed the JavaScript file by looking in the tmp directory.

Best Practice for Hyperion Planning : Essbase or Dataform for Adhoc Analysi

with Hyperion Planning, you are able to start an Adhoc Analysis from an Hyperion Planning Dataform or from an Essbase cube?
What is the best way / pro / contra ? thanks in advance
.... I 've juste notice that when you delete the dataform the Retrieve doesn't work anymore :-( .... and with Essbase you get some "un-useful" dimension as HSP_Value

A couple of other things that go with Planning as the data source:
1) You have access to all of the non-Essbase data -- think SmartLists, text (okay, it's there now in Essbase, but not from Planning applications) fields, supporting detail, etc. If you want users to see that relationally stored data, the only other way to get it in Excel is to run a Financial Reports report into Excel (or hack the tables and write SQL to pull the stuff -- did that pre 11x and it's too much work).
2) There's a performance hit when going against Planning, just like there is when Planning is the data source in Financial Reports.
Using a form to limit dimensionality - isn't that what SmartSlices are for? I guess it's another way to get to the same place. Although you have to administer the SmartSlices, I would imagine they would break less often than a form might. Having said that, once built, how often do you delete a form?
It's really nice that ad-hoc analysis from forms are now possible, but I've always thought of it as nice feature to have alongside data entry, never as the primary path into Essbase analysis.

I meant the server log files. To clarify, the issue you are seeing is that, when minification is enabled, a request to
http://localhost:5555/etc/designs/healthgskEMAP/clientlibs.js returns a blank response. As I said, that *can* be caused by a syntax error which prevents minification from working. This syntax error will be logged in the server log.
If you are getting errors in the browser from other client libraries, that's a different problem. To troubleshoot that, you'd want to look at the content being delivered to the browser and any entries in the server log when those files are requested.

Can we change the contrast of the Color in a Input dataforms

We have a set of dataforms where users would enter the data in the input dataforms.
When we enter the data(before saving) in dataform, All the cells where we have entered the data would be highlighted as Yellow color by default.Is there any way where we can change it ?May be increase the contrast or make it more brighter than the existing one.
I know we can write a Validation rule seperately, but this has to be for almost 50 webforms which is a mnual process.Is there any way where we can change it.
We are on Version : 11.1.2.3

I agree with Philips and with this You can check 11.1.2.2 Planning more modifications can be done.
Also, please check smartview 11.1.2.2 (though 11.1.2.5 is in market now but haven't got chance to read readme ). their are more information.

Question Regarding Access - DataForms

If a user has "Read" Access to a dataform will all the editable cells also be read only for him? If you had assigned "Write" Access to some parts of the dataform will he still be able to enter values in there even though he has "Read" access to the dataform?
I tried it by giving read access to a user for the dataform and I am still able to edit the cells which I thought will not be the case. Can someone please confirm on this please.

Hi,
Read access on the form doesn't mean the user will open the form in read mode. It only ensures that the user cannot alter the form ( i.e. Cannot modify the layout.)
Editable cells can be configured through dimensional security. If you like the form to be read only for everyone, that's set in form properties itself.

SharePoint Custom New Form with DataForm Webpart SharePoint 2010

Hi Guys,
i have a Problem with my Custom NewForm.ASPX. I Created a CustomForm like this Guide:

Problem
Now i set the DataFormWebpart for the Webpartzone on visible=False and add my custom DataformWebpart in this NewForm.aspx (see Code).
After my deployment and click on "New item" i can see my custom DataForm Webpart.
The Problems are:
1. The Ribbon is Greyed out
This post was not my solution. The Ribbons is not greyed out but the Ribbon has no function ("save Button" is broken)
2. The Fields are not loaded and looks like a Displayform
I Don't know why the Dataform does not load these fields. I can see the title but not the text Columns or lookups
3. Save Button and the Ribbon does not work
Only the Cancel button work on this Newform.aspx

Anyone have a work around for validatedata.js not working in 11.1.2.2?

Do you have a working validation? Then you can perform the testing by turning off ADF.
Go to Administration -> Application -> Properties. Add the application property ORACLE_ADF_UI with the property value false. Then restart planning web application. (This will turn off all the new ADF features)

ValidateData.js - apply changes to data form

Hi,
I've modified the ValidateData.js file to add a button to a form. My question is how do I actually see the changes I've made in the file appear in the data form? In layman's terms, how do I execute the code inside ValidateData.js?

Validatedata.js Errors

Has anyone implemented validatedata.js with system 11. I am having issues with it, its sometime giving me errors and sometime the web page for the forms doesn't even refresh. I tried opening planning with IE7, IE6 and even Mozella. I did clear up the cache on each one of the environment every time I change a code on the validatedata.js file. Even a simple alert statement is not working, any help? Anyone facing the same issue?

SampleValidateData.js OR ValidateData.js script files for Hyperion forms

We're running Hyperion EPM 11.1.1.2 and I want to create some custom javascript functions for a Planning data form. I want to work within SampleValidateData.js or ValidateData.js but I can't find either of these files.
We're running Tomcat and 11.1.1.2 EPM Planning.

It's possible the Planning webapp is deployed remotely. Check the tomcat server.xml file for a context tag that references HyperionPlaning. There you can find out where the HyperionPlanning directory that has custom under it is located.
It's also possible that planning is running directly from an unpacked war. In which case you will need to change the unpackWARs setting to true in server.xml in order to readily work with the validation javascript.
