ValidateDateTimeRange problem with minimum

Question

Page has an input date field with a minimum of today's date but the calendar grays out today's date too.
Here's the snippet from the page:
<af:selectInputDate value="#{bindings.theStartDate.inputValue}"
label="Start Date:" required="true">
<f:convertDateTime pattern="#{bindings.theStartDate.format}"/>
<af:validateDateTimeRange minimum="#{bean.dateToday}"/>

Here's the snippet from the bean that sets up the minimum date:
public Date getdateToday() {
if (dateToday == null) {
Calendar c = Calendar.getInstance();
c.set(Calendar.HOUR, 0);
c.set(Calendar.MINUTE, 0);
c.set(Calendar.SECOND, 0);
c.set(Calendar.MILLISECOND, 0);
dateToday = c.getTime();
return dateToday;
So, I chose tomorrow's date in the calendar pop-up, which returned Sep 21, 2008 into the input field.
Replaced the 21 with a 20 to force in today's date and got the following error message:
The date entered, "Sep 20, 2008", is before the first valid date Sep 20, 2008.
What is going on? Please help! Thank you.
