Validating only new data

Hi.
Is there possible, after disabling constraints, populating new data into tables and enabling constraints again, to validate only new data and not the old one?
(DB: 10gR2 and newer...)

Your old data are already on constraints. So when you disable and add new data and then enable the constraint the old data will not give you any issue. If at all you have any issue it will be with the new data.May you tell me why you're so sure? I have already read the documentation from boopathi's post and there is nothing mentioned about that.
From http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B28359_01/server.111/b28318/data_int.htm#i4773 :
Constraint States
* ENABLE ensures that all incoming data conforms to the constraint
* DISABLE allows incoming data, regardless of whether it conforms to the constraint
* VALIDATE ensures that existing data conforms to the constraint
* NOVALIDATE means that some existing data may not conform to the constraint
In addition:
* ENABLE VALIDATE is the same as ENABLE. The constraint is checked and is guaranteed to hold for all rows.
I am now confused.
So you mean that when constraint is disabled the SCN of this operation is remembered and during ENABLE VALIDATE only rows with higher SCN are validated?

  • LabVIEW created .DAT file with saving only new data on existing files

    I can successfully create and save a .DAT file using LabView and Diadem.   The save command I am using (in Labview) only overwrites existing files, I would like it to save only the new data from the last save.  Overall I would like to save the data every 1hr and since my test will last for many hours, the further along in the test the longer it would take to save the full file.  I know Diadem has the capability to save in such a manner, so I have thought about after I write to Diadem have a small Diadem application save periodically, but I haven't found a way to save the .DAT file, with out any signals coming into the save function.  I have attached the example .DAT file creater and saver I am using to figure it out.  thanks for your help!

    I am not sure if you are looking to append to a file, or if you would
    like to overwrite a file.  In either case, you can take a look at
    the "Append To File.vi" example for DIAdem.
    Either way, you may be experiencing problems because you are only using
    the "DIAdem Simple File Write.vi" (found on the DIAdem >> DAT
    Files palette).  Instead, you can use the "DIAdem File Write.vi"
    (located on teh DIAdem >> DAT Files >> DAT Files Advanced
    palette).  This VI can be set to overwrite or append to file.
    I hope this helps in your development!

  • Writing dump with only new data

    Hi,
    my problem is the following.
    I'd like to work on my laptop with a copy of my original database and if I have changes in my data I'd like to bring these changes back to the original database.
    Is there a way to write only changed data to a dump and import it into the original database?
    Thanks

  • Dense Restructure 1070020 Out of disk space. Can't create new data file

    During a Dense Restructure we receive: Error(1070020) Out of disk space. Cannot create a new [Data] file.
    Essbase 6.5.3 32-bit
    Windows 2003 32bit w/16GB RAM
    Database is on E: drive with 660GB space total, database is ~220GB.
    All cubes are unlimited
    Tried restoring from backup same problem.
    Over years and years the database is never recalculated, never exported and imported, never verified. Only new data loaded and dense restructured.
    Towards the end of a dense restructure (about 89 pan files through about 101 2GB pag files), getting an error: Error(1070020) Out of disk space. Cannot create a new [Data] file.
    There are still several hundred GB of free space available, and we can write to this free space outside of the essbase application within windows.
    The server's file system is consistent, defragmented, and can prove use of additional space. Hard drive controller and system does not report any "hardware issues".

    Here a very simple example with table EMP, assuming source table has a primary key. Firstly you create a materialized view log on source table (necessary for fast refresh) :
    SYS@db102 SQL> conn test/test
    Connected.
    TEST@db102 SQL> create materialized view log on emp including new values;
    Materialized view log created.
    TEST@db102 SQL> then at destination DB/user :
    TEST@db102 SQL> conn scott/tiger@test10
    Connected.
    SCOTT@test10 SQL> create database link test
      2  connect to test identified by test
      3  using 'db102';
    Database link created.
    SCOTT@test10 SQL> create materialized view emp_mv
      2  refresh fast
      3  as select * from emp@test;
    Materialized view created.
    SCOTT@test10 SQL>Now emp_mv is the exact copy of emp. To refresh the MV, to reflect changes :
    SCOTT@test10 SQL> exec dbms_mview.refresh('EMP_MV','F');
    PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.
    SCOTT@test10 SQL>                                                                  ...but I strongly recommend you to read the documentation...

  • How to read serial port only when new data has been sent to it

    I've written this very simple vi to read the serial port whenever the MKS Helium Detector sends a new value.  The timing of new data is controlled directly from the front panel of the MKS instrument.  I thought it was as simple as looking at the "bytes at port", and reading the port only if the value is not zero.  The problem I'm having is that the read function is occuring whether I want it to or not.  Consequently, the "Scan from String" function is returning an error (0) once in a while, because it's reading the serial port as it's being updated (I think).   Apparently, when the port is in the process of being updated, it is not zero.   Anyway, I'm assuming there is a simple fix, but I'm having no luck finding the Easter egg.  Any help would be, as always, very much appreciated.

    You can approach your problem in a couple of ways. The way you've got it written now, as soon as the number of bytes is non-zero, you read and convert. This means that when a partial string is there, you conversion is nor correct. One way is to wait until non-zero bytes like you do now, and then in another loop, read until the byte count is equal to zero and then do the conversion. You can also read until the cr\lf is detected and then do the conversion on the string. You can also enable the termination character for the read but then you'll have to increase the number of bytes to read to something other than just the number of bytes first available. If the instrument always returns the same number of bytes, you can use that as a constant for the VISA Read. Then the read will terminate whenever the byte count OR the termination character is detected.
    I modified your VI to show you how you might put it in a loop and what for the CR/LF to be detected. You would want to add a timeout to this so that if the character does not show up, the loop will not run infinitely

  • Replicate only changed and new data

    Dear,
    Is there a possibility to SQL Server 2012, to all the changes that happen in the DB x record in DB y?
    DB x would have all the data, and DB y would contain only the data from the time of recording.
    If the DB x insert data, the DB y are only visible data by the insert.
    If the DB x update data, the DB y are only visible data by the update, which can be seen that the data update.
    If the DB x delete data, the DB y are visible data are deleted.
    DB y be recorded only certain information, for example a specific table and certain procedures.
    Monitoring changes must be in real time.
    The structure must remain the same.
    Something like this would be like:
    Thank you

    You should do a no-sync subscription and then ensure that the data and schema necessary are on the subscription and use the continue on data consistency error profile.

  • Acro 9 Pro/CS3 new install - "action valid only for product that is currently installed"

    Hi,
    I successfully installed CS3 on XP/SP3 followed by the Acrobat 9 Pro upgrade to 8 that was included. The install seemed fine, and I activated Acrobat 9. However, when I click the start menu icon created by the installation, the got the message "action valid only for product that is currently installed". In addition, the standard IE integration is not present. Starting a repair from the Acro Help menu doesn't seem to do anything, and the product does not appear in Control Panel Add & Remove programs.
    I can start Acr 9 by navigating to the .exe in Program Files, but really need to fix the install.
    Has anyone seen this and fixed it?
    Also, if I (hopefully not) have to manually uninstall and reinstall, does anyone know
    - how to manually uninstall Acro 9
    - if uninstall destroys the activation I've already completed?
    Thanks much,
    Gordon

    CS3 comes with AA8, not AA9. I don't know where you got AA9, unless it was a trial. As far as I know, there was no packaged upgrade to AA9 with CS3. Others can confirm that I guess. You probably need to uninstall AA9 and reinstall AA8. Then update AA8 to the current version, AA8.1.4. Bill

  • Validation Script for Dates and General Event Questions

    I have just started using Javascript, and am now using some objects and methods etc. that I did not even know about. It's progressing rather well, now I need to know some Livecycle Designer Basics that I can't seem to answer from my searches.
    Here's what I am trying to do in English:
    I want users to choose a date that they will miss at our Farmers Market. I have the date field on the form - works well.
    I want to validate the entry for:
    The date must be today or in the future
    AND
    The date must be before the closing date
    AND
    The date must be a Saturday
    Here's some script I've written and placed in the Validation Event (I have actually written more for testing out that the results are coming out properly):
    ----- form1.#subform[0].Missdate::validate - (JavaScript, client) ----------------------------------
    var entereddate = this.rawValue;// The date vendor will not attend as entered on the form
    var dentry = new Date(entereddate.slice(0,4),[entereddate.slice(5,7)-1],entereddate.slice(8,10),0,0,0); // month starts at 0!
    var closingdate = "October 04,2008" // closing date of the market
    var today = Date();// today
    (dentry.getDay() = 6);// and attempt to validate that the day = Saturday - nothing happens!
    But now -
    How do I actually validate this - my last statement seems to be ignored. How to I force a 'false' being returned? In Formcalc I simply put a camparison statement here and if it resulted in 'False' validation failed and if it resulted in 'True' it passed - What's the JS equivalent? Or are the variables giving me troubles?
    Maybe I'm putting this in the wrong Event? If so which one should I place it in.
    I want to force the user to enter the correct data - how do I code this - and put in a custom message refering to this. I may even get fancy and ask the user if the next Saturday is what they meant if they enter the incorrect one (this will be a real challenge!)
    I think I'm lacking some basic knowledge here that other posts have assumed. Please refer me to any help pages as well - although I've done extensive searching on this and have not really found a good explanation of Validation - only specific pages that are not basic or general enough for my understanding. Thank!

    In the validation script you have to allow the field's length to be 0, or
    it will not be possible to clear it...

  • [Solved] ADFBC validation when your data isn't normalized

    Hello -
    I'm working on a ADFBC/JSF app (using JDev 10.1.3.3) where I am developing a JSF page to edit data for a table whose data is denormalized. I'll explain using the EMPLOYEES table in the HR sample schema.
    Change EMPLOYEES to...
    a. Add a column (EMPLOYEES.DEPARTMENT_NAME) that holds the data in DEPARTMENTS.DEPARTMENT_NAME
    b. Remove the foreign key EMP_DEPT_FK which links EMPLOYEES.DEPARTMENT_ID to DEPARTMENTS.DEPARTMENT_ID
    The UI presents a field for EMPLOYEES.DEPARTMENT_ID. It also shows EMPLOYEES.DEPARTMENT_NAME as a read-only field.
    When the user gives a value for EMPLOYEES.DEPARTMENT_ID, the app needs to
    1. Validate the DEPARTMENT_ID using a function in a PL/SQL package
    2. Populate the EMPLOYEES.DEPARTMENT_NAME field. Department name is retrieved using a function in a PL/SQL package that takes the department_id as a parameter.
    3. Assign a NULL value to EMPLOYEES.DEPARTMENT_NAME if the provided DEPARTMENT_ID is NULL.
    I don't have the option of changing the table structure.
    I have an entity object for the EMPLOYEES records. To accomplish #1 I added a method validator on the DEPARTMENT_ID attribute to call the appropriate PL/SQL function using JDBC. My question is - where should #2 and #3 happen?
    - In the same method validator on the attribute for DEPARTMENT_ID?
    - In the setter for the DEPARTMENT_ID after the call to setAttributeInternal?
    - Somewhere else?
    Thanks for reading my question

    Thanks Frank.
    Here is what I came up with (in case anyone else has a similar question) - it works well so far.
    In EmployeeEntityImpl:
        public boolean validateDepartmentId(Number data) {
            boolean valid = true;
            if (data != null ) {
                try {
                    MyAppModuleImpl mod =
                        (MyAppModuleImpl )getDBTransaction().getRootApplicationModule();
                    valid = mod.validateDepartmentId(data);  //method uses JDBC to call PL/SQL package function, could throw SQLException
                } catch (SQLException se) {
                    log.error("Error while checking Department Id: " + data, se);
                    valid = false;
            return valid;
        public void setDepartmentId(Number value) {
            setAttributeInternal(DEPARTMENTID, value);
            //Propogate changes to redundant DepartmentName field.
            //If we get this far, we will have passed the validation
            //called by setAttributeInternal()
            if (value == null) {
                if (getDepartmentName() != null) {
                    setDepartmentName(null);
            } else {
                MyAppModuleImpl mod =
                    (MyAppModuleImpl) getDBTransaction().getRootApplicationModule();
                try {
                    String deptName = mod.lookupDepartmentNameFromDepartmentId(value);   //method uses JDBC to call PL/SQL package function, could throw SQLExeption
                    if (deptName == null) {
                        log.error("Could not find department name for department id: " +
                                  value);
                        throw new JboException("Invalid department id: " +
                                               value);
                    } else {
                        setDepartmentName(deptName);
                } catch (SQLException se) {
                    log.error("Could not validate department id: " + value, se);
                    throw new JboException("Invalid department id: " + value);
        }

    Another strange thing..
    My ABAP colleague, debugged the program for me and point out:
          *   get data class (only standard and user values)
    >         SELECT * FROM ddart INTO TABLE l_t_ddart
                                  ORDER BY tabart.
              DELETE l_t_ddart WHERE   ddclass <> 'STD'  AND
                                       ddclass <> 'USR'.
              LOOP AT l_t_ddart INTO l_s_ddart.
    The l_t_ddart table contains only 21 rows (without my new Data Class, which is visible under SE16!)! I checked under oracle sqlplus and SELECT * FROM SAP<SID>.ddart; returned 22 rows WITH my new Data Class!
    I'm a little bit confused...

  • Validating keyboard input data

    I am new to java and have a question regarding validating input.
    I did check the FAQ for "Validating keyboard input data" but found no help.
    I have to check that the keyboard input is only one of the following char a c,C,d,D
    Ihave tried different conditional loops and statements but cannot get it right.
    Could someone point me in the right direction.
    I am using the latest java.
    Thanx

    well i think i am close but i can't figure out why i have an endless loop or how to fix it
    System.out.print("Please enter the Costumer Type C or R: ");
    String cosTypeTemp = scan.nextLine();
    cosType = cosTypeTemp.charAt(0);
    while (cosType != 'c' || cosType != 'C' || cosType != 'd' || cosType != 'D');
    do
    costumerType = 'N';
    System.out.print("Wrong input please enter the Costumer Type c or r: ");
    cosTypeTemp = scan.nextLine();
    cosType = cosTypeTemp.charAt(0);
    while (cosType != 'c' || cosType != 'C' || cosType != 'd' || cosType != 'D');
    costumerType = cosType;
    System.out.print("Please enter the Number of basic service connections: ");
    System.out.print("Please enter the Costumer Type C or R: ");
    String cosTypeTemp = scan.nextLine();
    cosType = cosTypeTemp.charAt(0);
    while (cosType != 'c' || cosType != 'C' || cosType != 'd' || cosType != 'D');
    do
    costumerType = 'N';
    System.out.print("Wrong input please enter the Costumer Type c or r: ");
    cosTypeTemp = scan.nextLine();
    cosType = cosTypeTemp.charAt(0);
    while (cosType != 'c' || cosType != 'C' || cosType != 'd' || cosType != 'D');
    costumerType = cosType;
    System.out.print("Please enter the Number of basic service connections: ");
    numBsSrvConecs = scan.nextInt();
    when i enter the correct data ( c, C, d, D) it goes into infinite loop and never reaches the next keyboard scan for System.out.print("Please enter the Costumer Type C or R: ");

  • How to validate ViewObject's new Data Entries.

    Hi EveryOne,
    I have one more query.. I have one ViewObject which shows only new rows, I'm uploading it form XML file, So now my requirement is i need to validate all data in viewobject before commiting data, actually i have lot of forgn keys here in view object, I hope you understand now what i'm looking, Is when any row or column has any invalid data then it show msg with row id.
    Any help?
    Thanks,
    Fizzz...

    Hi Robert,
    Sorry to late response but I need to validate my data on View object. I mean when i Load the data on table with dummy data, it is ok, then a button like we call "Validate Data" , we click it and then all invalid data will be highlighted on table. but that validation can be anything like total of two columns should equal, or value must be greater than 0 or less than 0 but not 0. need validation at VO level, not even from backing bean on run time.
    Like i have col A and col B
    A         B
    0         6
    5         0
    0         1
    2         0then i want all error field highlighted after validation like
    A         B
    0<--     6
    5         0<--
    0<--     1
    2         0<--Thanks

  • New Data Basis using infocbe 0BCS_C11

    Hi,
    I am creating new data basis using Infocube 0BCS_C11 in SEM BCS 4.0. Data Stream has been generated properly. Company and Consolidation Profit Center has been assigned Role ''Consolidation Unit'.
    However, I am not getting Company as characteristic in 'Authorization/Validity check' tab. I can see:
    Consolidation Group
    Consolidation Profir Center Group
    Consolidation Profit Center
    We are using Infocube 0BCS_C11 as we think that in future we might use Matrix Consolidation, though there is no current requirement. At present we are going to use Legal Consolidation only.
    Can you please advise?
    Best Regards,
    UR

    Solved. It was just saving and going out of the screen. Thanks
