Validations in XML forms
Hi
I am working with XML Formbuilder and I am stuck at validating the inputs entered,which includes-
1.Validating an input field against special characters
2.Text area for length
3. HTML Editor-mandatory,length restriction, and only string values.
4.Browser field for documents for type only .doc
5.Creating a checkbox group where atleast one checkbox should be checked
I tried with Data Schema pattern matching,but no luck.
Can these valdations be done in the Formbuilder or is it necessary to add the script explicitly in the XSL file.If XSL is the case, please help me in that.

Hi,
I have an news application to be developed in XML Form Builder. I am creating News Author part of it. It has an Date field where i have to do an validation like the user cannot enter date less than the current date. I can perform simple data type validation through the form builder. Can I perform the above said validation in XML form builder or is there an work around in getting this done.

I opened the schema of this particular application in the KM. I edited the tag for the particular application and included my restriction, so that the validation could occur. I did the same for string field in restricting the no of characters and found to be sucessful. But the same doesnt work for date field...
The tag goes like this
<element name="ExpiryDate" default="" minOccurs="1" maxOccurs="1" type="date" ns="default"><simpleType><restriction base="date"><minInclusive value="01/01/2009"/></restriction></simpleType></element>
Usually you dont have this restriction.....I have added the tag in bold.....But still validation doesnt occur.....What is the format in which date is stored????
The same worked for string field as shown below. I can restrict the entry to just 5 characters depending upon the restriction, I make in the schema.....

How can i apply the same to date field???

XML Forms : Set ' Valid from '& 'Valid to' dates.
Hi,
I have created two fields in xml form for time based publishing & used "Lifetime" property for it .
With this , for first field "Valid From" i can set default value as current date by use of $locDate.
i.e. "Valid From" = current date ($locDate)
And for second field i.e. "Valid To" suggest me any solution to set default value as "current date + 7 days"
i.e.
"Valid To" = current date + 7 days
If any body have any kind of solution on this, please provide.

I was thinking about editing the XSL-Stylesheet for the form but didn't find the appropiate code for adding X days to the current date.

How to change dateformat of VALID FROM and VALID TO properties in xml forms
Hi all,
I have created a news using xml form bulider and i have given lifetime for that news ,also displaying the VALID FROM and VALID TO in news.By default it is in mm.dd.yyyy format but i need to display the dateformat as dd.mm.yyyy in show form.Is there any possiblity to change the format in XSLT or any other solutions.

In XMl form builder open your project and in right hand corner property and value table there is a property called mandatory associated with fields just make it yes. and regenerate the project please don,t forget to give points

Your error message are not displaying because u does not made Message-Resoucrce property file (Resource Bundle) when you make it .
give it entry in
struts-config.xml
<message-resources parameter="ApplicationResources" />
and
define key and corresponding error message to key in this ApplicationResources i.e

Error while Loading the validator-rules.xml in Struts 1.2
Hello Guys,
I am trying to use the Struts 1.2.4 on Jdk1.3 inside WSAD5.1 and i get the following error when loading the application. It breaks on the fist line inside validator-rules.xml witht hte following error. My first line in the validator-rules.xml is

XML Forms. Add a timestamp field
Hi all
I have a XML Forms project. I have included the valid from and valid until values and have tbs working.
Appart from this I want to insert in my form another Timestamp field.
In the datamodel I can´t create an entry of type timestamp, only date or time.
If I create it date and bind it to a timestamp reaader object from the toolbar I receive an error requesting to have a timestamp type of data binded to it.
Any help to do this?

there is no possibility to provide default values or vairable values for date and time properties in KM.
The only thing you can specify is the format:

One thing you could do is modify the xsl file and use some additional programming to fill the date whith the values you like.
But in the standard it is not possible.

Hi ,
I have created forms for News using XML Form Builder.I have also put the ValidFrom and ValidTo Fields on my Edit form for the News Authir to set Life Time for the news he will create.
The Properties value for both ValidFrom and ValidTo Fields is as follows :
ValidFrom : /Properties/tbp:VALIDFROM
ValidTo : /Properties/tbp:VALIDTO
I have enable time-based publishing for my folder where these forms/news is being saved.
But the time-based publishing is not working.
I even tried setting properties in Details -> Lifetime for the news craeted directly but its not working.
I am using EP6 SP14.
Wht could be going wrong.

In Content Management,I have created a folder "abc" under the repository "document".This folder will hold the xml files created for the news items.
The document repository is predefined and has been assigned the Repository Service "tbp".
i have enabled the time-bound publishing for the folder "abc" in its Detail section.
For the news reader , I have made the folder "abc" as "read only".
But the news reader is not able to see the news.
My xml form for the news Author has fields for entering date and time for both "Valid from" and "Valid To".
On saving the news item ,i can actually see these values in the property "LifeTime" of the news document that has been created.
I even set these ValidTo and ValidFrom at the "LifeTime" property also.
But nothing is working.
Also could u pls elaborate on ur statement :
"time-dependent publishing service requires the application property service."
Nothing is working for me.

I have a XML form which contains data related to ESS.could i know the procedure to put a popup window throwing some message once the form has been submitted.
I mean after filling the details and after validations like if the date is wrong it is showing message to correct the date format.It must show a popup with a message after clicking on submit button.( for ex: your form has been successfully submitted)

HumayooI really have no idea what kind of file that is and how is the structure, but if it´s valid XML, I guess you could use InDesigns Tags to Styles mapping engine to format incoming stuff....

Lifetime in xml forms - final users cannot see available docs
Hi, I have a News xml forms project integrated with Approval process, and I want to integrate lifetime too.
1) How do I to enable Lifetime??
What I did is the following: I`ve enabled Lifetime in the folder containing the docs, and I setup manually the validto and validfrom properties (Details->Settings->Properties->Lifetime) of every doc, and the only people who can see the docs are those that have write permission on the folder (and myself too).
I´ve read a lots of forums and I did everything that they say but successless.
Could anybody help me??

In my case, i had no CM System selected on Task Scheduler.
So check System Administration -> System Configuration -> Knowledge Management -> Content Management -> Global Services -> Scheduler Tasks -> Check valid from -> TimeBasePublishingPublish
(idem for Check valid until -> TimeBasePublishingUnpublish)
At that point, you must check if you have selected any CM System, if not, select one. Help Sap says that that field is optional...but, well, as you can see, I had no cm system selected, and after I selected one, the lifetime began working very well.

Error when creating new XML-Form

We are using XML-Forms to create/edit/display FAQs out of the KM-Content. We have created our own XMLForms for that and it worked fine. After our last upgrade (NW 7.0 SP-Stack 16) we have the following problem:

I don't have that behaviour when i try to edit an existign FAQ. But I have the same problem with any other XML-form i'm using to create KM-docs.
to me it seems that the creation-context is somehow not valid. But what does that mean? and what can I do about it?

Custom Actions in XML Forms Builder
Hello everyone,
We are starting a project to replace our current intranet with Enterprise Portal + KM + Collaboration. Our current intranet has many interactive foms developed as ASP pages for doing thinks like requesting new user ID's etc. These forms are attached to a workflow engine (Ultimus) where they trigger various workflow processes. I am exploring wherther or not these existing ASP based forms can be replaced by XML forms developed on the form builder.
Can XML forms be developed that trigger external actions like generatating a workflow? I have not found anything in the documentation so far that would indicate how this is accomplished?

I knew that XML forms are primarily for document creation. I'm just trying to think 'out of the box' and find a way to convert all the ASP forms we have to a standard, portal-based format.
The forms I am reviewing are mostly simple pages that would basically validate and save the form data, then kick off a single workflow task. For existing forms, we will utilize URL iViews and link to the existing form.
For new forms, it sounds like we could probably make the XML forms builder work, but would probably be better off just creating basic .jsp or web dynpro pages to handle the data validation and external workflow submission. What do you think?
