Vanishing data and layer management

Hi -- I have three questions. I use WinXP and Indesign CS3.
1) Can anyone recommend a good resource for beginning Indesign users? I watch the tutorials but even they're sometimes above my head.
2) I created two text boxes on one page, one for a headline and one for the article, and added a placer box for a photo. Then I created an object box and filled it with color and feathered it. But now I can't get my text info back. I can see the boxes, but the text won't come back unless I move the box off the page. I've been messing around with send to back, send to front, select first object, etc., but nothing works. Help!
3) This third question might be related to No. 2. Occasionally a photo or text will vanish from a page I'm not working on. I scroll down to that page and whoah -- mystery time!
You can tell I'm a newbie. Feel free to talk down to me.

#1, a lot of people really like Sandee Cohen's Visual QuickStart. I think the best book out there is probably Real World InDesign CS3, but it's pretty daunting looking to a beginner. Browse through it, though, and I think you'll find it clearly written enough that anyone can handle it. They explain the why, as well as the how.
#2 sounds like you have text wrap applied to your box or boxes. Either remove it, or select the text frame and open the text frame properties dialog and enable the "Ignore text wrap" checkbox.
#3 The only reasons I can think of off the top of my head for why an image would disappear is if a) it's on a hidden layer; b) set to non-printing in the attributes panel OR on the pasteboard and not on the page itself, and you are in preview mode; c)you've inadvertently selected the image with the direct select tool (instead of selecting the whole frame with the regular selection tool) and tried to move it, positioning the image outside its frame; or d) the image is inline with text that is being pushed out of a frame by text wrap.

How to save large amount of data and memory management

hi guys,
I prepared a vi to take measurement of temperature and pressure simultaneously from Agilent 34970A with 34901A. The sampling rate is 1 sample/per second for each channel (20 temperature channel and 2 pressure channel (current). The device has 20 channels and most probably the test will lasts 2 days. So, it means 86400 sample per day totally. Could the attached vi do this task? I really do not know how the "write to text file.vi" works and use the memory of the pc. And after collecting all data, could I export these data to microsoft office excel to analyse safely? And I really do not know can I work this vi without interrupting. is it possible? I am also open for all other suggests relevant the vi, too. And I wonder that is it possible to build a standalone application to take measurements from DAQ devices (here Agilent 34970A-34901A) by a pc without labview?

What I meant by check for an error while measuring is the following:
you start the program
If one of your Agilent VIs returns an error (maybe bad initialisation or so) you will still try to continue to measure.
Even if it is not working, you still continue measuring. Instead you could also check at the end of each loop if an error occured, like this:
this will only look for an error and stop right away. If you encounter typical errors with apperatus you might want to handle it. A sufficient way to do so might be a state machine that just re-initializes the setup if an error occurs and then continues with its task. Anyway, I would recommend to just try it out and see what problems arise, as you might spend hours of improving well working code (:

Extraction and loading of Training and Event Management data (0HR_PE_1)

I've got the following doubt:
before BI 7.0 release, extractor 0HR_PE_1 extracts event data (eventid, attendee id, calday,...) but if you load straight to cube 0PE_C01, as Calendar year/month needs a reference date (for example, event start date), you'll get total duration of event in hours or days refered to event star date.
So in a query filtered by month, you get total duration of an event that starts in the filtered month but it couldn`t end until few months later o year later, so you don´t get appropiate information.
Example:
Event calday Hours
10004377 20081120 500 but from event_attr event end date is 20090410.
In a query filtered by 200811 you get total duration time (500 hours when in 200811 event hours have been 20) or if you filter by any month of 2009 you don´t get information of duration of that event.
I had to create a copy of standar cube (without calday, only Calendar year/month, Calendar year in time dimension) and disaggrate data creating as many entries for an event as months lasts and adjust calculation of ratios duration of event (duration of event in each month/ total duration of event).
The question is: Is there any improvement or change on business content in BI 7.0 to treat Training and Event Management data? Has anybody had to deal with that?

You can load the catalog by creating LSMWs for objects Business event group (L), Business event types (D), Locations (F), Organizers (U) as per requirement.
LSMW for tcode PP01 can be used to create these objects.
To create Business Events (E) you can create LSMW for PV10/PV11.
To book attendee create LSMW for tcode PV08 as here you can specify the actual business event ID which reduces ambiguity.
tcode PV12 to firmly book events
tcode PV15 to follow up

Training and Event Management booking date

Hi,
I am working on Training and Event Management cube 0PE_C01. One of the requirements of a query is to show the booking date of the course.
I have looked in business content for other cubes i have checked info object and 0event, i have also checked datasource 0HR_PE_1 but I can not find anywhere this information is being extracted into BW.
Does anyone know how if this info is available or would i have to ammend the datasource to bring this info in.

Getting Training and Event Management Data using IT0031

Scenerio:
One of the Employee Is Retired. Now we hire it again for the same role ( extending its period after posting it as retired).
So the good thing that we can use the IT0031 "Reference Personnel Numbers" to get the desired ITs and found that can get other cutomized ITs by checking in the "Copy Infotype" attribute of IT records.
Now this seems to be valid if we are in the same module
but waht if i want to get this magic "Referencing of ITs" done for the "Training and Event Managment" Data of the employee.
Is it Possible Automatically ... or have to go fro ABAP... (I will not prefer ABAP)...
I hope i have stated the problem clearly ...

Quality and WorkForce Management ACD data and some problems

I installed the Quality / Adv Quality Mgt. and than i installed workforce management services. I have access panels each service no problem. But, I constantly getting the following mail from WFO and I do not know how to solve
WFM2001
Message:
The Capture Service is failing to capture ACD data.
Action: Contact technical support.
Other problem; I can't see anything about my agents, teams or etc. when i open WFO web management page or Quality Manager Administration.
For example on WFO web management page, left pane, Agents menu, i can't see my CXX agents.
Last one, i need to WFO and Qualit Management Recording using documentation (how to use both programs ?)

As we have learned, layer design is made to make us and Vendors happy about new inventions on a network field. If so, how come up this statement:

Well, they have to be, or you couldn't send layer 3 IP packets over the layer 2 links. In IPv4 the connection between layer 3 (IP) and layer 2 (say, ethernet) is most often via the Address Resolution Protocol, layer 2 ethernet type 0x0806 (IPv4 being 0x0800 and IPv6 0x86dd).
In IPv6 the connection is instead via the ICMPv6 neighbor discovery protocol. Neighbor discovery was invented with goals like getting more uniformity into the layer 3->2 transition over different link types, and better duplicate and dead address detection.

Hi,
I faced a similar situation,
I tried all the possible ways like activating InfoObject manually, Through an activation program of aggregates,
Also ran RSRV check which was showing no negative results.
I raised an OSS note for the same but after that when SAP returned back the process chian ran again as it is a daily load which activated the record in 'M'.
I ask you to wait till the next process chian run, and try all possible ways to activate.
If it is not corrected then raise an oss to SAP.

we are installing BI-Applications with Oracle Application server, but the above components were supported by Jboss/IBM webSphere/BeaWebLogic.
Let me know whether i can skip these two components while Informatica installation

You dont require Data Analyzer and Metadata Manager for OBI Apps, use custom installtion and select powercenter only while installing informatica.

Try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose any data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.

Analysis Process Designer and Inventory Management

In the How to guide for Inventory Management it mentions that you can you can intialise stock in the Snap shot Cube using the Analysis Process Designer (APD). Has anyone done this and if so can you explain how or outline some steps? Thanks

the APD does`nt be a useful tool for modeling a performant
data flow. A lot of SAP BW user think so.
The performance problems are given by the ddic intern table, using to uploading the extracted data into the apd used wa_table and structures.
To have the best performance on your scenario, please use the following scenario as possible.
Step 1.
upload the extracted data from the psa into a data layer
there you can reduce and harmonize the data by using a transactional ods
Step 2.
build a infoset that joins the data
Step 3.
build one query to reducing data and make two copies of ist
Step 4.
build a useful data mining model
Step 5.
upload the results of the data mining model into a transactional ods
Step 6.
link the uploaded data into a infoset ore write back into a standard ods
Step 7.
query the data
If you use this scenario you have a lot of benefits. Better performance, better quality of persistent data and actual and traininged data.
The recommend next step (if you want a alerting) is to build a reporting agent report - if you have usefull processes in the query.
