Variable initial value/default value is current date

Hello,
I have to give the current date (for eg: 2005.08.28) to a date variable when the query executes.
I have seen in the variable edit screen to provide the default value, but i have to set the variable to the current date.
How can i do this? please suggest me.
Regards,
Ravi

Try using 0DAT variable which is the SAP Exit variable for the current day.  Else use a customer exit variable if this does not do what you're after.

  • How to use one variable as a default value for another variable?

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to use one variable as a default value for another variable?
    For example:
Variable 1 = current calendar year month
Variable 2 = mandatory input ready variable for calendar year month
I want to use variable 1 as default value for variable 2, but also have the ability to change the month if required.
    Thanks!
    Kathryn

u can use replacement path variable
in that case u can replace the values of 1 variable with the another variable...
but  u cannot do this setting
u cannot make variable 2 as mandatory
u cannot enter value for variable 2
because by default it will take the value of variable 1
u have to make follow settings
    variable 2
    name , technical name
    processing by = replacement path
    infoobject = ocalmonth
    next tab
    replaced by another variable
    variable name
    offset start , offset lenght
    save and hit okey

  • Pass variable and set default value based on user's group

    Hello
I'm using SharePoint 2010 and SQL 2012. I need to send a variable to the page and based on its value, set default value for a drop down list and send it to other web part to filter the data. Is it possible for certain users to send that value as a default
and limit user to see only this value in the text field or drop down list; for others - to allow to see the drop down list, but also set the default value for that list?
The main page was designed in SharePoint designer, using web parts (aspx page). I had setup a connection to Active Directory and already have the code to get user's groups and based on their group, I have that variable pulled into the web page for further
use. But I don't know how to pass that value as a default value to the web part (currently using SharePoint Filter web part). When I tried to set a default value for the web part - it automatically puts the quotation marks around the name of the variable
and shows it as a text instead of showing the value of the field.
    Thank you!
P.s. I have limited knowledge of SharePoint and need guidance (links, examples, recommendations)!

Thank you for your response. I'll try to give you more details. On PageA I check user's groups and based on the group, assign the value and pass it to the next page (no input from the user, all done behind the scene and user is redirected to PageB).
On the next page I read that value and would like to send it to the SharePoint List Filter Web as a default value, as well as send it to another web part that displays the list from SQL, filtered using that default value. Ideally, if the user is from Group
A, I'd like for them to have only one value in that drop down list; if user is from Group B - give him drop down list with 40 items to choose from. Below there is a part of the code and variable fnum has the value from PageA (if I print the value on the screen
    - I do see that it has correct value, so the code that gets groups from Active directory works correctly). If I assign fnum as a default value of the list, it shows "fnum" instead of the value of variable fnum. I connect to SQL database, using external
content - so the other list that I'm filtering based on the value in that drop down list - is XSLT Data View Web part. I also have 2 more filters on that page, that user will have full access to and based on their input, it is also sent to the XSLT web part
to filter out more data. Since one of the filters is the date and I am filtering data starting from the date that user chooses - XSLT is the only web part that I was able to make it work with.
I looked at the link you provided (thank you). It is using Content Query Web part. Will it work with external content, as well as accepting multiple filtering, including custom starting date? I appreciate your help!

  • How to refresh/apply column value default setting on current files or folders

    Hi All
I have set-up default column data per folder in my library (via
Library Settings > Column default settings) and it works great for new documents or folders that are added to the library.
But what do I do if I have an existing Library with folders and files and need to apply default column data to each? Is there a way of "refreshing" the default columns so that the data is populated through a specific folder and/or its sub-folders?
(I really hope this is an easy fix or just a setting that I over-looked somewhere!)
    Thank you!

I had to do this as well recently, and remembered your post.
Here is the function I wrote , this worked for text, choice, and metadata columns
It is pretty slow and could be optimized and broken up into more functions, but I had to do several things:
    1. I mass-updated the content types in a library
    2. On Library settings : set default values and also different defaults per folder
    3. For each file I then needed to:
3.a. either copy the value from a column in the old content type to the new, or
3.b. set the column to the default
so this function does step 3, like I said it works for certain types of columns and can be sped up (I used it to update 700 files in a couple minutes), and it makes some assumptions about the environment but this at least is a starting point.
As Alex said you may want to change SystemUpdate($true) to just Update(), depending on your requirements.
    <#
    .SYNOPSIS
Resets columns in a document library to defaults for blank columns. Use this
after changing the content types or adding columns to a doc lib with existing files
    .DESCRIPTION
Resets columns in a doc lib to their defaults. Will only set them if the columns are blank (unless overridden)
Will also copy some values from one column to another while you are there.
Can restrict the update to a subset of columns, or have it look for all columns with defaults.
Will use the list defaults as well as folder defaults.
All names of columns passed in should use InternalName.
This has ONLY been tested on Text, Choice, Metadata, and mult-Choice and Mult-Metadata columns
Pass in a list and it will recursively travel down the list to update all items with the defaults for the items in that folder.
If you call it on a folder, it will travel up the tree of folders to find the proper defaults

    @plutosdad
    .PARAMETER list
The document library to update. Using this parameter it will update all files in the doc lib
    .PARAMETER folder
The folder containing files to update. Function will update all files in this folder and subfolders.
    .PARAMETER ParentFolderDefaults
Hashtable of internal field names as KEY, and value VALUE, summing up all the parent folders or list defaults.
If not supplied, then the function will travel up the tree of folders to the parent doclib to determine
    the correct defaults to apply.
If the field is managed metadata, then the value is a string
Currently only tested for string and metadata values, not lookup or date
    .PARAMETER termstore
The termstore to use if you are going to update managed metadata columns, this assumes we are only using the one termstore for all columns to update
If you are using the site collection specific termstore for some columns you want to update, and
the central termstore for others, then you should call this method twice, once with each termstore,
and specify the respective columns in fieldsToUpdate
    .PARAMETER fieldsToCopy
Hashtable of internal field names, where KEY is the "to" field, and VALUE is the "from" field
Use this to copy values from one field to another for the item.
These override the defaults, and also cause the "from" (Value) fields to NOT be overwritten with defaults even if
they are in the fieldsToUpdate array.
    Example: @{"MyNewColumn" = "My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column"}
    .PARAMETER fieldsToUpdate
If supplied then the method will update only the fields in this array to their default values, if null then it will update
    all fields that have defaults.
If you pass in an empty array, then this method will only copy fields in the fieldtocopy and not
    apply any defaults
Example: @() - to only copy and not set any fields to default
    Example2: @('UpdateField1','UpdateField2') will
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -fieldsToCopy @{"MyNewColumn" = "My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column"} -fieldsToUpdate @() -overwrite -termStore $termStore
This will not set any defaults, but instead only set MyNewColumn to non null values of My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column
It will overwrite any values of MyNewColumn
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -overwrite
This will set all columns to their default values even if they are filled in already
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -folder $list.RootFolder.SubFolder[3].SubFolder[5]
This will set all columns to their defaults in the given subfolder of a library
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -fieldsToUpdate @('ColumnOneInternalName','ColumnTwoInternalName')
This will set columns ColumnOneInternalName and ColumnTwoInternalName to their defaults for all items where they are currently null
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -fieldsToCopy @{"MyNewColumn" = "My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column"} -fieldsToUpdate @("MyNewColumn") -termStore $termStore
This will set all MyNewColumn values to their default, and then also copy the values of My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column to MyNewColumn where the old column is not null,
but both of these will only happen for items where MyNewColumn is null
    .EXAMPLE
    Set-SPListItemValuesToDefaults -list $list -fieldsToCopy @{"MyNewColumn" = "My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column"} -termStore $termStore
This will set ALL columns with defaults to the default value (if the item's value is null),
except for My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column which will not be modified even if it has a default value, and will also set MyNewColumn to the
value of My_x0020_Old_x0020_Column if the old value is not null

  • OWL with Default Set containting Current Date as query parameter

    Hello Everybody,
I have a custom BO which mainly consists of a name and a time period (start and end date).
Now I'd like to create a Default set like
"Give me all objects with today between start and end date."
    I already tried the following:
    Filling a field using UI-Scripting:
    $data.UIState.Today = $controller.DateTimeUtils.DateNow;
Copy the field into the search parameter
executing the query with this search parameter.
However, I using this approach, I only managed to search for objects matching exactly todays date, but not using greater/lower comparators.
Furthermore I also searched for a field transformation giving me the current date but did not succeed.
Does anyone have any ideas how to achieve this or how to get one of the above ideas to work?
    Best regards,
    Ludger

    Hello Ludger,
That`s what I expected: The fields do not define the interval.
Therefore you need to define it by yourself via this "less or equal".
What you can do in the UI Designer at the query definition is to provide an interval
    For the field "CurrentDate" provide
    - SelectOption = "between"
    - Low Value = your start date
    - High Value = your end date
    - Select Option = "include"

  • Option to show values up to last closed fiscal period or up to current date

    Hello,
How would I create a query that would ask if I want it to calculate values 'up to the current date' or for the 'latest closed fiscal period'.
Currently I have setup a report, within which, has restricted key figures that will give the 'Period to date', 'Year to Date', and 'Last Year Year to Date' values for some RKFs, however, it would be very helpful if this report could be setup so that the user could choose whether the report provides:
    1. Values only through the last closed fiscal period
    or
    2. Values up to the current date.
<b>For example</b> if we are in period 7 of 2006, the user could have the report show all values up to the last closed fiscal period, which in this case would be period 6 of 2006.
Or the user could have the report show all the values up to the current date.
    Hopefully I have been clear,
    Thanks,
    Nick

    Nick,
What is the problem you are facing? As San mentioned you can only report till Last Fiscal Period using Customer Exit Variables(Calculate Current Fiscal Period using Current Month and Fiscal Year Variant).
Or as you mentioned you can create restricted Key Figures using Date or month (YTD etc)
If i miss your requirement, please guide me.

  • Set default value based on current day value and setItems in Design studio

    Hello
I have 2 filters on my dashboard - year and month. The default display of the dashboard should populate current year data. Is it possible to create formula to populate dynamic default value based on the current date using setSelectedValue() ?
Also, for the calendar month, the items are set as below
    DD_MONTH.setItems(DS_1.getMemberList("0CALMONTH",
    MemberPresentation.INTERNAL_KEY, MemberDisplay.TEXT, 12, "ALL");
This displays month values as 01/2014, 02/2014 ... How can I change these value to display as January if mm = 01 and February if mm = 02 etc..
    Thanks
    Sirisha

    Hi Victor,
I have tried using below statment to populate current year as the default selection value for the dropdown. Used it on Startup, but for some reason it loads all the data when the dashboard is opened the first time. Any ideas?
    DS_1.setFilter("0CALYEAR",[Convert.subString(APPLICATION.getInfo().dateNowInternalFormat, 4,6)]);
    Thanks

  • Executewithparams default values

    hi
i'm having trouble using the executewithparamenter operation and was hoping for a little help.
I'm trying to make a page with a bar graph on it. I created a view object with a query that has two bind variables, start_date and end_date. I dragged that on top of a jsp page. Then i dragged over the executewithparams operation onto the same page and dropped it as an ADF Parameter Form.
If i set the 'value type' for the start_date and end_date bind variables as 'literal' and set the 'value' to dates (ex. 2009-04-15), then the page works the way i want to. When i run it, the page displays a graph with bars for between start_date and end_date. If i change start_date and end_date, then press the executewithparams button, the graph updates as i expected to bars with the new start_date and end_date.
Now, what i really want is for the start_date to default to the current date less 7 days, and end_date to default to the current date. So i switched the value type of my bind variables from 'literal' to 'expression' and entered adf.currentDate -7 for start_date and adf.currentDate for end_date.
When i run the page, the graph displays okay. But when I change the start_date and end_date and hit the executewithparams button, the graph doesn't update the way i expect it to.
so the page doesn't seem to be behaving the same way if i set the value type of my bind variables to 'expression' as opposed to 'literal'.
can anyone point me in the right direction?
    thanks

    thanks for the reply.
yes, i did define those bind variables in the view object.
basically, what i want is to display a graph, initially showing values for the past week, which i'd like to do by setting start_date and end_date to the current date -7 and current date.
so on my page, i have that graph, and below it is the executeWithParams form (ADF parameter form). If i change the dates and hit the executeWithParams button, the graph should update.
My problem is, it seems to work if I set the value type to literal. However, if I set it to literal, then when the page starts, it won't be the current date -7 to current date. It will only be whatever literal values I set the default to, for instance, '2009-04-01' to '2009-04-07'. That doesn't quite work for me since then the graph will always start with those dates.
If i set the value type to 'expression' and use adf.currentDate -7 and adf.currentDate, the page starts with the graph showing what I expect. However, if I then try to change the dates and hit the button, the graph doesn't seem to take the new values.
Now why would the behavior of the page be different when i use the 'expression' as the value type of the bind variable as opposed to 'literal' as the value type? Another way to say it is, why should the page behave differently if the default value of my bind variable is adf.currentDate as opposed to '2009-04-01'?
or am i merely misunderstanding the use of 'executeWithParams'?

  • Pass current Date to variable thru Command Wizard

    Hi ,
I have an date input variable for a query. I would like to pass the current date to this variable using the Command Wizard when the Web template is executed. Can someone please help me
    Thanks

    Hi,
0DAT will not solve my problem.
I have a 2 query variables ZDATE and  ZVARMTD. ZVARMTD is a user exit variable and will be populated based on the value in ZDATE(input).
Initially I want to default ZDATE with current date -1. I have the user exit coded to set this variable to (sys date -1). I thought of using the offset. But it shows only single values, I don’t see variables.
If the user then enters another value, the user exit will set the MTD based on the date entered.
In the Query , I have this variable ZDATE in the restriction of a key figure 0AMOUNT and ZVARMTD for 0CALDAY in the Filter..
(If i have ZDATE) in the filter, it only shows the values for the entered date.. Actually we want the report for Month to Date.
When i debug , i dont see this variable(ZDATE) in i_vnam and it is never going to my code. I only see those variable(ZVARMTD) i have in the 'filter' tab
So ithought I can populate using the Java Script while executing the Web ...
    Any help ..

  • Prompt with Default date (Current Date)

    Hi Experts,
I have WEBI Report With Calendar Date (0CALDAY) Object on a OLAP Universe (OLAP Universe built on SAP BW BEx Query).
I need to create a prompt on Calendar Date Object with default value as Current date (systemdate). I need to create this at universe level not at BEx level (No Exceptions).
Looking forward to hear from you.

But EXIT Variable has a DEFAULT value in BEx Designer. DEFAULT Value (Current system Date) is populated when a BEx Query is Run. How come it is not properly reflected into BOBJ?. It retrieves the data for Current system Date in BOBJ too when WEBI Query is run but it does not show Current system Date in prompt screen.
I hope you understand my problem.

  • Can you use a formula field as the default value of a parameter?

I'm wondering if you can use a formula field as the default value of a parameter. I have an date parameter that is being pulled from a stored procedure. When I run the report, it defaults to the current date and time. I would like it to default to he current date and have the time be 00:00:00

    Hi,
Unfortunately, you cannot use a formula field as the default value of the parameter.
And, to get rid of the current time and show 00:00:00, all you need to do is Edit the parameter and set the 'Default Value' to 00:00:00. This will take care of the time portion, however the date portion would be set to the year 1899 and not the current date.
    Hope this helps!

  • Default value on navigational attribute

    Hi,
    I have encountered following issue:
    - need to create variable entry with default values on characteristic (plant type) which is naviational attribute of another one (plant)
    - default value needs to exclude one of the possible values (plant types SC)
So I created simple manual entry variable (multiple values) and selected 'SC' as to be excluded (red '=' icon in default values tab).
Problem - in pop-up values appears correctly !SC, but whenever I click CHECK or OK, value gets immediatelly changed to SC (i.e. =SC instead of <>SC).
I have no idea why is that and what to do to make it working.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
    Marcin

I cannot set include values, this needs to be exclude there is a requirement I can satisfy only in that way (for some data plant does not exist so if I put include plant types, then it will filter out all such records).
is there any limitation for setting default values on variables created on NAV attr?

  • User Entry/Default value

    Hi Experts,
In my query i am having a User Entry/default value for characteristic variable. When i run the report for a particular value the data is not shown but if i run the report with out an entry then the data is shown for that value.
User entry/Default variable is blocking the data?
Can somebody give me an idea where lies the problem?

    Hi Venkat,
    Details:
    Processing type: User entry/Default value
    Default value: -
    (blank)
    Type of variable:Characteristic Value
    Variable represents: selection Option..
Where can i check if problem is with variable or not?

  • Default Date parameter to current date

Using Crystal Reports 2008 version 12.1.0.892
I have a Stored Procedure for the report that among others requires a StartDate and EndDate parameter.
It appears that I can not easily/simply set the default for this parameters to the current date.
In the properties dialog for the parameter the Default value appears to be just a text field.  I can type in a value, but I can not make it always have the current date selected.
This report also has an End Date that we would like to have default to the current date(no time) plus one day.
We can do this using Reporting services, but I can not find a way to do this as easily in crystal reports. What am I missing?
    Thanks

Well here's a little quick tip for reports have to be scheduled and require date parameters. I've used this on lots of reports...
For the bulk of our scheduled reports, the user typically wants to see data for either the current month or the previous month. For example management may want a production report scheduled to run at the end of every week for the current month so that they can track month to date progress. They will also want the same report run on the 1st of the month for the previous month so that they have a final monthly total.
Here's how I do it with just one report...
    1) Create a text parameter called {?DateRange}
    2) Give it 2 static LOVs... Current Month & Previous Month
    3) Build out the SQL Command (I use a lot of them... Most of our vendors aren't nutty about clients adding SPs to their DBs)
    4) Drop in the following block of code at the top of the SQL Command...
    DECLARE @DateRange CHAR(15)
    DECLARE @BEG DateTime, @END DateTime
    SET @DateRange = '{?DateRange}';
    IF @DateRange = 'Current Month' SET @BEG = DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm,0,GETDATE()),0)
                                                   ELSE SET @BEG = DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm,0,GETDATE())-1,0);
    IF @DateRange = 'Current Month' SET @END = DATEADD(ms,-5,DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm,0,GETDATE())+1, 0))
                                                   ELSE SET @END = DATEADD(ms,-5,DATEADD(mm, DATEDIFF(mm,0,GETDATE()), 0));
    5) Modify the WHERE clause of the SQL to pull dates between @BEG AND @END
    6) Add the DateRange parameter in the Parameter List of the Command.
At this point the user has just 2 date range options... Current Month & Previous Month.
From there you can upload to the CR Server and schedule it.
