Variable Sequence issue

Dear All,
I have situation where I have 3 work books in a query. I have variable sequence A,B,C,D,E in the query properties set now when open the workbook I am getting the sequence as A C E B D. I am confused why would this happen as the sequence should be same as the order set in the query properties.
I have checked all 3 queries of these 3 work books have same sequence ABCDE in the query properties.
can any please advise why would this happen and how can I rectify this quickly
Thanks,
tati

Hi Santhosh,
Try to log on to individual queries, delete and recreate one of the variables, arrange the variable sequence and check it by executing the queries individually. Finally if all the queries are showing the same sequence then try to execute your workbook.
It should work. Please provide any further details if it doesnt work.

    Hi Experts,
    I have created the new query with selection variables in BEX (BI 7). Now I want to change the sequence of the variable selection. But there are no variables at variable sequence in query property. Please any suggestions.
    Thanks In Advance

    Dear Ravi,
    while defining a variable,,
    u have an option like READY FOR INPUT.
    u should tick that check box..
    unless and until u check that box,,..that variable will not pop up or visible in the query designer..
    Hope this helps u.

  • Oracle 11g : Sequence Issues after impdp

    Hi All,
    We are migrating from Oracle 10g to Oracle 11g. As part of this, we take a expdp from 10g and successfully did an import using impdp on to Oracle 11g database.
    But the problem is, there were few Primary key violations which occurred and all of them relate to sequences.
    The Maximum data in the tables and the last number in the sequences differed which caused the issue.
    Upon investigation and browsing the Web, http://www.nerdliness.com/article/2009/03/18/my-oracle-sequencedatapump-shenanigans ; I understood it could be because of the export taken while the application is online and writing to the database.
    I reset all the failing sequences manually and it is fine now.
    My questions now are
    *1) Can we ascertain that the export taken when the source database is offline would eliminate the sequences issue.*
    2) As this is being done in Production, I would like to make few checks to ensure that the sequences are properly imported. ---
    Again reading few websites and oracle Forums, i found the below sql's..
    select table_name, column_name, utl_raw.cast_to_number(high_value) as highval
    from dba_Tab_columns
    where owner = 'PRODUCTION_OWNER'
    AND DATA_TYPE= 'NUMBER'
    AND (OWNER, TABLE_NAME, COLUMN_NAME) IN
    (SELECT CC.OWNER, CC.TABLE_NAME, CC.COLUMN_NAME
    FROM DBA_CONS_COLUMNS CC
    JOIN DBA_CONSTRAINTS C
    ON CC.OWNER=C.OWNER
    AND CC.CONSTRAINT_NAME=C.CONSTRAINT_NAME
    WHERE C.CONSTRAINT_TYPE ='P'
    ORDER BY 3;
    SELECT SEQUENCE_NAME, MIN_VALUE, MAX_VALUE, LAST_NUMBER
    FROM DBA_SEQUENCES
    WHERE SEQUENCE_OWNER = 'PRODUCTION_OWNER'
    ORDER BY LAST_NUMBER
    If I relate the last_number with the highval and if they are same, does that mean the sequences are imported properly.
    Note: We have sequence caching done and we are on RAC.

    it could be because of the export taken while the application is online and writing to the database.I don't know what's your database's size , and what's acceptable downtime for you, but I could never propose such a migration tecnique to any of my customers, due to excessive downtime when databases are quite large.
    It's quite obvious that you get such errors when the export is done while people are working, unless you use FLASHBACK_SCN or FLASHBACK_TIME parameter while exporting. But in this case, assuming you don't get errors (e.g. ORA-01555), you'll probably lose a lot ot transactions.
    Assuming your 10g database is running in archivelog mode (which should be the default in production DBs) did you think of using RMAN to do the migration ?

  • WAD problem with query variable sequence

    Hi Everyone,
    I have created 3 Queries of which all of them have common but different number of selection variables
    eg: query 1 : A, B,C,D,E
          Query 2: D
          Query 3: C
    I need to display the variables in WAD as displayed in Query 1.But they are displaying randomly.
    For this I arranged the variable sequence of Query 1 in the query designer using the menu path
    Query -> Properties and in the right panel select the "Variable sequence" tab
    But,it is still picking randomly.
    Is there any other option either in Query or WAD Designer?
    thanks,

    try in this way
    keep variables only in query 1

          How to change the sequence in the restriction variable area ?
    I tried dragging it, but its not working fine.
    Pls advise.
    Thanks..

    hello Santosh,
    Assuming you want to change the sequence of Selection variables of the Query.
    Goto Properties of the Query beside "Execute" button, in the right panel, you will find " Variable Sequence" tab, here you can arrange sequence of variables. Use the up and down arrow button to move up or down as you require.

  • Variable Sequence when using multiple queries

    Hi Experts,
    how can I adjust the variable sequence of a workbook that uses multiple queries (with variables of which each exists in at least two included queries)?
    E.g.:
    DP1 with variable sequence "A, B, D"
    DP_2 with variable sequence "A, C, D"
    DP_3 with variable sequence "B, C"
    I want "A, B, C, D" as the sequence for the workbook but i did not figure out how to adjust this.
    I already tried to insert a dummy DataProvider that holds all variables in the right sequence.. No success..
    Any help very appreciated!
    Marco

    Hi Mayank,
    thanks for your answer.
    I wonder how the displayed sequence of the common variables is derived from the underlying queries. Perhaps one can change the sequence of the variables by inserting the DataProviders in another sequence?!

  • Variable Sequence in the report

    Hello...I created some variable in the query designer and identify the sequence I wanted in the query designer like below:
    1) calendar month
    2) org unit
    and when i view the report, the sequence of the variabe in the report is not the same, it shows as below
    1) org unit
    2) calendar month
    any idea why the results is different from the one in the query designer? thanks alot

    Hi Fluffy,
    GO to Query Designer>select your query>goto properties-->select Variable sequence Tab. You can set the sequence according to your order.

  • Oracle Client 11g R2 sequencing issue with App-V 5.0

    Hi All,
    Can anyone help on a issue that I face while I try to create the ODBC connection after I have published the sequenced application. I get the error message as shown :
    Have already tried sequencing by creating the Dummy ODBC user DSN and system DSN on the base machine  before sequencing and have added the TNSNames.ora path as an environment variable.
    Thank in advance for your help!Installation of 32 bit and 64 bit 11.2.0.1 Oracle client on windows 7

    Akanksha,
    If your application is 64-bit, you need only 64-bit Oracle client software which installs 64-bit ODBC.
    There is no need to install 32-bit Oracle client.
    I am suspecting that some of the required components are missing from your installation.
    1)Are you able to connect to the Database using the the sql*plus ?
    (You need to open the sql*plus session from the machine where ODBC application is running)
    2) Try to run the application as administrator user and see whether it helps.
    3)What is the type of client installation which you performed ? (Administrator/Runtime/Custom)
    If it is custom type, might be you are missing some components.
    Try to install as Administrator and see whether it helps.

  • ORA-01002 fetch out of sequence issue

    Hi,
    I am facing a weird ORA-01002 issue where I am passing the payload by opening a cursor to a separate package which has the merge statement. This fails with ORA-01002 error when there are multiple updates for a single record on target. I read through the Oracle documentation which states "MERGE is a deterministic statement. That is, you cannot update the same row of the target table multiple times in the same MERGE statement."
    My use case is such that there can be multiple updates in a day for an account and I have to maintain history for this on the target and I have a merge to do this. I am implementing SCD using triggers. What do you guys suggest to implement this solution? I need to update the same target table record multiple times in the same MERGE statement.
    Calling procedure:
    declare
    acct load_<package>.account_list;
    begin
    OPEN acct FOR
            SELECT DISTINCT<cols>
          FROM <table> where action_type='UPDATE' order by account_updatedate;
            load_<package>.<proc>(acct);
        CLOSE acct;
    end;
    Merge package/procedure:
    PROCEDURE merge_<proc(acct IN account_list)
      AS
      BEGIN
        MERGE INTO <target_table> d USING (
          SELECT DISTINCT *
          FROM TABLE(<pipelined_proc>(acct))
        ) s
        ON (<condition>
        WHEN NOT MATCHED THEN INSERT (
          <cols>
          ) VALUES (
    <cols>      );
        COMMIT;
      END;
    Thanks,
    Vikram

    The thread title's ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence error is potentially from the merge statement restarting to get a consistent view of the data.
    It looks like "acct" is a REF CURSOR. If the merge decides to restart, the cursor cannot be restarted, so you will get a ORA-01002: fetch out of sequence error. That's a problem with using a ref cursor inside a SQL statement that modifies data - the statement can restart.
    E.g. see AskTom: Ask Tom &amp;quot;BEFORE Triggers Fired Multiple Times &amp;quot;
    The current URL for the statement
    If the triggering statement of a BEFORE statement trigger is an UPDATE or DELETE statement that conflicts with an UPDATE statement that is running, then the database does a transparent ROLLBACK to SAVEPOINT and restarts the triggering statement. The database can do this many times before the triggering statement completes successfully. Each time the database restarts the triggering statement, the trigger fires. The ROLLBACK to SAVEPOINTdoes not undo changes to package variables that the trigger references. To detect this situation, include a counter variable in the package.

  • BI Variable authorization issue

    Hello Experts,
    Please help me with the below issue. I have implemented Variable authorizations as below.
    1)I have marked Cost Center and Profit Center info objects as Auth relevant.
    2) Created a global Variables for CC and PC with processing by authorization & user exit.
    3) Created analysis authorization for the info object 0cost center and Profit Center and added value as $ ZCOST.
    4) Created the include program ZSECTEST in the user exit to check the Variables.
    I have created only one analysis authorization with both CC and PC fields and restricted to Variables.
    Scenario 1: If the Query that was built on the Cube has only CC data authorizations are working fine by picking the values from the table. u2013 Working
    Scenario 2 : I have a query that was created on MP which has cube A with CC and cube B with PC data.
    (system checks if the user has access both info objects since both were auth relevant fields)
    When user ran the query u2013 custom code checks the table and gets the CC and PC values to the query variable screen.
    Issue: If the query has both CC and PC data for the given date it was showing results fine.
    If the query has only CC data and no PC data then query is giving message saying no data available.
    My requirement is even there is not PC data for that date I want to display the CC data.
    Thanks in Advance.
    Thanks,
    Kumar.

    Hello Sandipan,
    Thanks for the quick response.  Primary key has been already defined in the table.  Issue is I have only one analysis authorization created with fileds  CC and PC restrcited to variables VAR1 and VAR2 respectively.
    When I execute the query in the variable selection screen values are coming fine as below from the custom table. (works)
    Variable selection screen :
    Cost Center   -    1,2,3,4
    Profit Center   -     A,S,D,F
    Date               -   10/2010
    In the above example if the query has only CC data for that date - I get error no data available because system is fetching for the  combination of CC 1,2,3,4 and PC A,S,D,F .  I guess some aggregation auth are missing.
    When I execute the same query with SAP_ALL and BI_ALL I get results with only CC - because PC data on this query was not available for that date.
    My requirement is  even if the PC data was not avaiable for that date I want to display all the CC realted  data.
    Thanks,
    Kumar.

    Paul,
    I have experienced similar issues with the behaviour of variable selection screens e.g. variable screen appears in the Bex Excel version but not the web version. One of our consultants has suggested that the behaviour depends on whether the variables are optional or mandatory, something I've yet to confirm.

  • Variable substitution issue

    Hi all,
    I've a select against a view (V_XXX) which performs drammaticaly different if run in this two ways:
    SQL> SELECT COUNT(*) FROM METOD.V_XXX
    2 WHERE MATRICOLA LIKE '%'||LTRIM('310491A')||'%';
    --> 50 msecs.
    SQL> VARIABLE var VARCHAR2(10);
    SQL> EXECUTE :var:='310491A';
    SQL> SELECT COUNT(*) FROM METOD.V_XXX
    2 WHERE MATRICOLA LIKE '%'||LTRIM(:var)||'%';
    --> 17516 msecs.
    Explain plain shows that in second case all the joins present inside the wiev are parsed by oracle...whilst it doesn't happen using the direct select.
    Thanks a lot for help...
    Marco

    Optimizer is cost based...
    In any case the issue seems to be linked to the presence of db_links.
    The issue happens when my select runs against a view (on my 'local' instance) built against three synonyms, all of them are created against remote db objects through db_links.
    Building the same view directly inside the remote db and creating a synonym (with a db_link) on my istance, my select has the same performance using a constant or a variable in the where clause (so no issue!).
    If someone can explain, what is happening...
    Thanks, Marco

  • Navigation very slow and not able to enter in memory a sequence issue

    Hello,
    we have a big problem with oracle forms performance since we deployed our
    application to the web. all our customers are not confortable with this new
    environment because the sytem are very slow and working it's very difficult.
    our application is very slow in point of when the user use very quickly the key
    functions it doens't work.
    I explain :
    for example, we have a button &Verifier (alt+v : acces key to this button) and
    when clicking to button we have a dialox box that contains 2 buttons:
    Oui(alt+O:access key) and Non(alt+N:access key) and if we click Oui(alt+O) it
    popup as an information box and we must click Ok(alt+O: access key).
    then if we click quickly alt+v after alt+o after alt+o it doens't work and it
    wait to click againt alt+o.(like the system doesn't follow or has not yet enter all the sequence in the memory)
    before in client/server it work's fine.
    it's like our application in the web it's not able to entered in memory a
    serial of access key.
    please can you help me the problem is always occuring in the production
    environment.
    our environment:
    - oracle jiniator :1.3.1.22
    OAS 10G (9041)
    DATABASE 9206
    - the complete version of forms : 9.0.4.0.19
    - we have 23 USERS.
    any help are welcome, the problem are urgent.
    thank you.

    Hi
    Lets analyse and hope to narrow down your issue
    We have used the Pick and Pack Manager to release goods from Sales Order through to Invoice. The functionality offered is good,
    > Slow performance could be triggered by multile issue  , so lets wait
    > Do you know PICKand PACK manager is only for status ,but it actually doesn't affect inventory level .
    but in practise the system is so slow it is taking 2 to 3 times longer than copying to a Sales Invoice.
    > You need to do delivery first and transfer the delivery into invoice .
    Is there any way of cutting out part of the process to speed things up? What we really need is to be able to create an invoice(s) straight from the Pick and Pack manager.
    >> It basically depends upon your business process . but by software , You can bypass Pick and PACK Manager process. You can transfer  your sales order into A/R invoice  and while posting A/R invoice , inventory will be reduced .
    Hope this help to narrow down your issue
    thank you
