Variable Spacing Between Column Prompts

Hi,
I have a dashboard prompt. I have placed it vertically on the left side of page. I has columns from 3 dimensions. As soon as the columns for a particular dimension end i want to add some additional space before the columns of the other dimensions start. Is there any way to do that. I'm working on OBIEE 11.1.1.5.

That was a Layout Break in Pages '09 and has been chnaged in Pages 5 along with other 90+ features removed.

Pages '09 should still be in your Applications/iWork folder.
Archive/trash Pages 5 and rate/review it in the App Store, then get back to work.

There used to be a spacing option between columns in Pages. How does one change that spacing now?

In Pages v5(.2), the column and gutter settings are located on the Format > Layout panel. The Gutter setting can be changed by double-clicking on its numeric value. If you have disabled the Equal column width check box, you can also directly change each Column width as you have the Gutter. Revealing the rulers from the View menu can improve the multicolumn layout process, as column indicators appear in the top ruler.

Spacing between columns

Hi,
In the forms ,I need to vary the width of columns and then rearrange it with proper spacing, is there any other way rather than manually doing it.
or in other word is there way to give the specified distance between two columns which can vary from column to column if column width are different.
For example width of column may be 60,80,20....
I am new to forms.please do suggest.

But Moazzam again to know x and y position you need to know the values so its kind of tidious job and can get messy at times if we have more number of columns.
the only way i get is doing it manually.

Need spacing between columns

I am having a time trying to get my three column to allow the background color and text to show between the columns.

When I float col 3 to the right it looks nice between center column and right column, but I can't seem to get the center column to "float" only in the center to allow the space between the left and center column.
I want the text to show through.
Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

I have the Flash removed but the idea of using the container to show the background as seen at http://digitalresponseoc.com/clients/casey/index.html is giving me problems.
The background needs to be seen through the gaps in the columns.
I am learning more about stuff but I still need to figure out how to have the columns not shift when the browser is resized. argh.
Can you point me in a direction to learn how to do this.

Spacing between columns in SQL*Plus

Is there a way to format a SQL*Plus report so
numeric columns are not preceeded by a space?
I've already have the setting SET COLSEP ''
but that doesn't work on the numeric fields.
I've also tried setting the column format
and converting the numbers to strings. Any
help will be much appreciated!!

Numeric values are preceeding with a blank because of the sign (which is not included in the definition number(3,2) = -9.99 to +9.99).
You need to convert to char and trim :
select trim(to_char(mynumber)) mynumber from mytable;

6.1 vs 10.3: between column spacing

It appears that there is a slight difference in the spacing between columns in 6.1 and 10.3
Given that we use full column width images in each of our portlets, this is now causing us to have a minor horizontal scroll in the ballpark of 10 pixels in a 3 column layout.
Does anyone know where in the CSS the control is to set the spacing between columns?

How to add some text between columns in dashboard prompt?

OBIEE version:10.1.3.4.1
Can we add some words between columns in dashboard prompt?
like, I want to add OR, make sure user not to select different month, if selected the different months it will make the report no data.
Month OR Date Range(this is a calendar)
Does anyone have any idea about this?

Hi,
If you are using the prompts with presentation variables or referring only the columns separately then you can create individual prompts and place static text between them.
But if you need to have both the prompt columns together then create the prompts and use 'space' as the label names for both.(ie prompts would appear but the name wont appear). And create a static text in the page or in a report and place in the page. Which appears as the name of the prompt with 'OR' between the prompt names.
This should solve your problem.

Spacing between sections on subform

Hello,
I have attached a file with the pdf print out. there are spacing between the sections, yet the section is trimmed and used as a subform to re-occur on the same page. what could be the issue?? I'm using a table as the row, and all columns contain fields that can can grow and shrink.
Is there a possibility (method) to let each section be adjacent to each other like an excel table?

Hello, thank you for your reply.
The problem is that i have three nested elements in the extract xml with variable amounts of these entries. This means that i can't remove the last subform. Yes i have checked the section in the last subform and it is 0.00 and Max from the top. The size of the section is was autosized, meaning that it is not bigger than the boundary of the table.

How to make paragraphs line up between columns?

I want to make a 2 column chapter, with the text in each column in its own flow. But then I want some of the paragraphs to line up between columns.
So, like this:

I'm assuming I can't use side heads to put the first column text in, because the info on the left goes on for multiple paragraphs, and I can't seem to line up a block of paragraphs with the baseline of the appropriate right column text.
I used to do this in tables, like this:

If you take the sidehead approach that Niels suggest, you could do
this, but it would be a bit of maintenance.
Have your "xxxxx" flow content sit in text frames within anchored
frames. The anchored frames are then in a special conditionalized
paragraph ("z") in the *sidehead* before every "yyyy" flow section,
e.g.
z

xxxxxxxxxx yyyyyyyyy
xxxxxxxxxx yyyyyyyyy

yyyyyyyyy

The "z" paragraph is just a container for the anchored frames and
should contain no text.
When you hide the "z" tags, all of the "x" flow content will then
disappear as well. You'll have to manually customize the height of
each anchored frame/text frame pair though.
To adjust the spacings between the "y" flow to match at the bottom of
the anchored frames for the "x" flows, use the sidehead paratag ("Z")
and create space above overrides in this paragraph only to adjust the
vertical spacing to keep the x and y sections in sync. This way, you
have overrides confined to only one paratag.
To make maintenance easier, it might be worth creating a FrameScript
that would adjust the height of the anchored/text frame combo based
upon the amount of content in the instructor flow and then apply the
space above override to the anchoring paratag (z).

Date variable in a column formula

I am having trouble using date-values from a Dashboard Prompt in a column formula in Answers.
The situation:
I use a dashboard prompt to select a date, the selected date stored in a presentation variable ('production_end'). In an answers request, I would like to use the 'selected_date' value to filter values for one column:
FILTER("Measures new".Produced USING(Calender."Full Date" = @{production_end}{timestamp'2009-07-31 00:00:00'))
Error after prompt execution:

There is no problem using the production_end in a column filter to filter the whole request, the error only shows up whenever I try to use it in a column formula.

Hi Kart,
I think I found the problem and the solution.
I use a dashboard prompt with a default value based on a repository variable ('today'). The prompt feeds a presentation variable ('prod_end').
In the answers request I use prod_end in the following column formula (I changed the request slightly compared to the ones we were discussing - the basic functionality of using the presentation variable is the same):
MONTH(timestamp'@{prod_end}')
That combination leads to the follow error when opening the dashboard for the first time:
State: HY000. Code: 10058. [NQODBC] [SQL_STATE: HY000]
[nQSError: 10058] A general error has occurred.
[nQSError: 46047] Datetime value TIMESTAMP '2010-07-15 00:00:00' from TIMESTAMP '2010-07-15 00:00:00' does not match the specified format. (HY000)
The first timestamp probably being the timestamp defined in my column formula, the second one (the one selecting from) probably being the repository variable definition.
Solution:
If I default the dashboard prompt using an sql statement to refer to the repository variable 'today' it works
Default prompt to:
SELECT Calender."Full Date" FROM OLS where Calender."Full Date" = VALUEOF("today")

Show the presentation variable on table column header

is it possible to show the presentation variable on the table column header.
I have created a edit box with presentation variable on the prompt.
I would like to show the value the user entered on the column header because the values under that column are driven by the presentation variable.

You cannot put variables in the column headers, as they get considered as text and the same shows in the reports.
However, you can use the session or repository variables in the alias field in the presentation layer.
You should make sure, that in this case, all the calculations are done in the BMM layer and not in answers, for the columns where you will be using the variables.

Change spacing between "LED's" in 2D boolean array indicator

Hi All
In my application I am tring to mimic a LED matrix sign using a 2D boolean array indicator. Its obvious enough how to chage the size of the LED's in the array indicator but I would also like to reduce the spacing between LED's as I have very small leds with two much space between them!!
Could someone kindly send me an example or tell me waht steps to take using customize indicators function etc.
Also can this be changed programatically using property nodes, so for instance i can resize the spacing to mimic LED signs with different LED densities?

Hi Tristan
You could try customising the boolean in your array. Right click on an element of your array, select Advanced->Customise.... You can then modify the appearance of the boolean to your requirements, using decorations for example to modify the spacing.
You will be prompted to update your array with the modified version once you have finished your edits.

HTML in Analysis column prompt's label not working

Hi all,
In 11.1.1.6, I have an Analysis column prompt (not a dashboard prompt).
In the prompt label property I have html, which the help dialog box says can be used, however, the html is not displaying as intended. It's showing the html tags along with the text. Even something simple, like just having a bold tag or font color tag doesn't work - it displays this literally.
In 10g, I had the html in the description property and it worked fine. It seems in 11g the description property is for tool tip text.
Any ideas on how to fix this?

Use one prompt. Make it a dashboard prompt instead of a column prompt save it to a presentation variable. Then you can apply two filters to the column, one "less than or equal to" your presentation variable and one "greater than or equal to" your presentation variable. Although the default operand is "AND," just click on it and it will change to "OR."
You can also do one filter and just make it "not in/not equal to."

How can I pass a Presentation Variable (Date) into a prompt

How can I pass a Presentation Variable (date) into a prompt? I seem to be able to do this successfully for a non-date value but have had no luck with a Date variable.
Here's a simplistic version of what I'm trying to do:
1. I have a Presentation Variable called startDate which is a Date that defaults to this SQL - SELECT "Reporting Dates"."Measure Date" FROM Trading WHERE "Reporting Dates"."Date Name" = 'Current'.
2. I now want to pass this variable into a prompt with SQL like this: SELECT "Position Date"."Position Date" FROM Trading where "Position Date"."Position Date" = date'@{startDate}{2009-04-24}'
I get this error: Datetime value @{startDate}{2009-04-24} from @{startDate}{2009-04-24} does not match the specified format.
Now I can use the exact same syntax in a filter. For example, a simple Answers request where I pick Position Date with a filter saying "Position Date"."Position Date" = date'@{startDate}{2009-04-24}' works fine.
What am I doing wrong?

Can you provide more information please?
1. What is the format of the first date prompt, is it YYYY-MM-DD or?
2. Which data type is Position Date."Position Date" in the physical layer, date or date time?
3. What is the column formula in the first prompt?
4. The first prompt is set to drop-down or?
5. If you are using this SQL Results in the second prompt:
SELECT "Position Date"."Position Date" FROM Trading where "Position Date"."Position Date" = date '@{startDate}{2009-04-24}'
then @{startDate} must be in YYYY-MM-DD format to work properly, otherwise (for example):
datetime value 01/01/2000 from 01/01/2000 does not match the specified format.
This doesn't work for example:
SELECT Times.time_id FROM "Normal model" where Times.time_id =date '01/01/2000'

Question regarding Dashboard and column prompt

My question regarding Dashboard and column prompt:
1) Dashboard prompt usually work with only for columns which are in subject area. In my report I've created some of the columns which are based on other columns. Like I've daysNumber column that is based on two other columns, as it calculates the difference of two dates. When I create dashboard prompt I can't find this column there. I need to make a prompt on this column.
2)For one of the column I've only two values 1 and 0. When I create prompt for this column, is it possible that in drop down list It shows 'Yes' for 1 and 'No' for 0 and still filter the request??

I think there was another way of doing this...
In the dashboard prompt go to Show option > select SQL Results from dropdown.
There you need to write your Logical SQL like...
SELECT CASE WHEN 1=0 THEN PERIODS.YEAR ELSE difference of date functionality END FROM SubjectAreaName
Here.. Periods.Year is the column which is already exists in repository's presentation layer..
and difference of date functionality is the code or formula of column which you want to show in drop-down...
Also write the CASE WHEN 1=0 THEN PERIODS.YEAR ELSE difference of date functionality END code in fx of that prompt.
I think it helps you in doing this..
