Variations command missing in 64 bit Photoshop

In x86 (32 bit) Photoshop under Image> Adjustments I can see the variations command, but not in x64 (64 bit) I've tried reinstalling but no dice... any ideas?

It's in my Photoshop CS5 standard x64 version.
I suggest there's been an installer problem if it's missing from your system.  Do you have the latest Photoshop update (12.0.2 for Mac, 12.0.3 for PC)?

  • Why is Edit in Photoshop command missing or refers to Photoshop Elements?

Q Why is the Edit In Adobe Photoshop command in the context menu missing when I right-click on a photo in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom?
    or
Why is the same command under the Photo menu grayed out, and in the External Editor tab of the Preferences the upper box is labeled "Edit in Photoshop (Not Found)"?
    See linked
    Adobe Technote for more information

I just realised what I was doing wrong.  I installed Photoshop Elements 10 but I was launching Photoshop Elements Editor not Photoshop Elements.  I had no idea there were multiple applications!  Now that I have launched the main Photoshop Elements Application (it then brings up a dialog where you select organize or edit) the "Edit in Photoshop Elements 10" menu item has appeared as expected in Lightroom.

  • Aperture exported images disable Photoshop CS2 Variations command

    Your comments and help please:
From Aperture, I choose a file to modify in Photoshop CS2. I Export the file to Photoshop. Photoshop opens with the image exported. Unfortunately, the Variations command is grayed-out. I tried TIFF and PSD exports from Aperture. Variations, of course, works when I open the same image from the Finder. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks for your help, Nate

I'm fairly sure that the Variations adjustment doens't work with 16-bit images - when you use 'open in an external editor' Aperture passes a 16-bit file to that editor.

  • Photoshop and Illustrator batch commands missing in Bridge CS6

Photoshop and Illustrator commands missing (eg batch and Live Trace) in Bridge CS6 tools, but they are there in CS5.
    Any thoughts
    much appreciated regards
    Tim

So I deleted/uninstalled all versions of bridge then photoshop, but Bridge would not even install with PS cs5 (maybe it never did, there was no option on install).
In the CS4 suite there was a separate option to install or uninstall Bridge, for CS5 they changed this as combined install with PS.
There are many options for buying separate applications or combinations (Suite) of Adobe Products but according to the Adobe Site Bridge is delivered also with the separate applications Indesign, Illustrator, Flash, Premiere Pro, After Effects and Incopy.
Usually when having a complete Suite it is delivered with one of those applications.
Bridge should be able to communicate with all applications from the same CS version, but uses start up scripts for that applications.
When doing normal installation those scripts should be placed in the correct location automatically.
Having different suite versions on your system it will not be easy to make them communicate with each other through one version of Bridge (sadly enough you can also have only one version of Bridge active at the time and different versions of Bridge use different cache folders).
Don't have experience with scripting but maybe the dedicated Bridge scripting forum (link in previous post) can help you out for the answer of customized start up scripts or if it is possible at all.

  • "Edit In Photoshop" command missing

I bought Lightroom and Photoshop Elements 10 last year (downloaded LR v4.3 yesterday) and sat down to learn how to use them together today (www.lynda.com Using Lightroom and Photoshop Together with Jan Kabili).
When I open LR the Photo -> Edit In -> Edit In Photoshop command is greyed out (non-functional).
I tried both solutions listed under 'Solution 3: On Mac OS' on the following help page including uninstalling and re-downloading and installing PS Elements 10 and it is still not working:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/multi/edit-photoshop-command-missing-photoshop.html
Please advise how to make your programs work together.  Surely, with Photoshop Elements installed and running on my computer Lightroom must be able to notice it.
    Bill.

  • Variations command in PS CS5?

I'm coming from PS CS3, and do not see a Variations command in the Image>Adjustments menu in CS5. I have found a reference to it on this Product support page: <http://help.adobe.com/en_US/photoshop/cs/using/WSfd1234e1c4b69f30ea53e41001031ab64-7646a.h tml>, but that command is not available in the menu on my machine. Thanks for any help!

What do we sacrifice if we choose to run in 32-bit mode? I assume there's some advantage to running in 64-bit mode, such as being able to use more RAM (great for me, with my 16GB RAM on a Snow Leopard Mac Pro).
I'm annoyed by the need to switch between 32/64 bit modes, but grateful it's a possibility. My problem with it is that I'll forget I made the switch, and, days later, waste time looking for a feature that's not available in that mode.
From a user's point of view, Adobe's workaround is good to have, but isn't ideal, because:
user has to remember to switch modes
user doesn't know what's "missing" in one mode or the other
I think it would help me better if Photoshop:
warned me that I had just started in 32-bit mode, ideally in a way that doesn't stop Photoshop from operating normally (i.e., don't pop up a dialog box that must be clicked. I wouldn't want automated processes to stop just because of that warning). A pop-up that doesn't block or halt normal use would probably be good
showed the grayed-out items that would be available in the other mode. Ideally, there'd be a little note icon next to the grayed-out Variations. Clicking it would bring up a note telling me that I can switch modes to use this (and how to do it).
    That would be awesome.
Still, I'm glad I found this thread, and glad I could use Variations today -- it was a real time saver.

  • Is there a replacement plug in similar to the "Variations" command that was aborted in CS6

Is there a replacement plug in similar to the "Variations" command that was thoughtlessly aborted in CS6... ANYTHING SIMILAR AT ALL.
I know what all you "pros" will say, but I have been using it since it was created and I like it

I don't think there is at this point, since cs6 can't be run in the 32 bit mode and adobe hasn't ported the variations filter to 64 bit on the mac side.

  • 32 bit Actions in 64 Bit Photoshop

I am about to upgrade to 64 bit Photoshopwhen my new computer with Windows 7 arrives.  I have read conflicting information regardine the use of Photoshop actions that have been shared that were generated in 32 bit Photoshop.  In some places I have read that they will work with 64 bit Photoshop and in others I have read that they won't.  I am just wondering if anyone has personal experience with this....do they work....do they all work or just some of them???

Actions operate on "reflections" of internal program commands and thus do not care for whether the host is a PC or a Mac or 32bit vs. 64bit. As long as they do not contain references to specific features that are not available in a given environment, they work just the same, given that the commands they address have the same name.

  • Make 32 bit Photoshop CS4 the default instead of 64 bit?

It was a bit of a surprise to find that none of my 32-bit plugins would work with Photoshop CS4 x64. Most seem to work fine in the 32-bit version of PS though. Is there a way to make the 32-bit version launch by default from Bridge or when opening a PSD file instead of the 64-bit version?

I encountered this issue today as well when I installed Photoshop CS5, and discovered that my usual plugins do not work properly.
They did work properly while running in 32 bit mode.
Windows 7's extension definition sucks, that's why I rather work with the registry.
So after a bit tweaking, I think I finally cracked it.
The "Final Product" (if you will ) is two reg files for toggling 32 and 64 bit modes.
A word of caution: This is what worked on MY machine (Windows 7 64 Bit) and I cannot gurrantee it would work on other computers, nor do I take responsibility for any damage that my occur. We are playing with the Registry here, so BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL.
These codes assume Photoshop is installed in the default location. If you've altered it, make sure to modify the files accordingly first.
Before attempting to use I recommend to create a restore point, just in case something may go wrong.
    Here we go:
To switch to 32 bit mode, open a blank notepad page, paste the below code and save it as "fix.reg" (NOT TXT). After saving, activate it and you're good to go.
    32 Bit Mode
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell]
    "FriendlyCache"="Adobe Photoshop"
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\edit]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\edit\command]

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\Insertable]
    @=""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.Image.12\protocol]

    @="\"C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Adobe Photoshop CS5\\Photoshop.exe\" -p \"%1\""
Now, if you want to revert the changes, do the same procedure with the below code, and it should make 64 bit the default once again.

  • Any hope of getting 64 bit twain plug in for Windows 64 bit Photoshop

Just what the title sez: any hope of getting 64 bit twain plug in for Windows 64 bit Photoshop? Frustrating to upgrade and have to do a work around to use your scanner. Will Adobe release this?

    Chris,
I have a CanoScan 8800F plus CS5, both 32-bit and 64-bit versions installed. When I scan four slides in a holder, the 32-bit TWAIN driver/plugin gives me four images of one slide each. The 64-bit WIA driver/plugin gives me one image of the slide holder, with the four slides in it. Is this a limitation of the WIA technique in general or the particular WIA driver for my CanoScan?
    Best regards,
    Antero

  • 64 bit Lightroom 2.5 work well with 32 bit Photoshop CS4?

Anyone know if 64 bit Lightroom 2.5 works well with 32 bit Photoshop CS4?  Any problems or conflicts?  Or should I stick to 32 bit Lightroom 2.5?

It works fine, but the default will be to use the 64bit version of CS4 (which is also installed along with the 32bit version).
If you want to use the 32bit version of CS4 the easiest way is to open the 32bit CS4 before sending files from LR. I only have a few plugins that don't have 64bit versions, so I mostly use the 64 bit version of CS4, but occasionally I do use the 32bit version and that's how I do it.
