VC Chart Combo Columns+Lines
I have created a nice combo chart but I only see an information for one axis. I need Value axis for each series. Is this possible? I am charting revenue as the column -- assume large numbers. And I am charting # of orders assume very low. I need axis info on left and right of chart. How please?
Jeff,
We cannot have multiple scales with VC [data-series (labels i.e.) are always on the x-axis and the corresponding values on the y-axis] . Given your scenario, if you use combo charts (since they're stacked for columns), this may not be the best option to display the nos..maybe u could use a bar/column chart instead

Chart: Columns + line
Hi,
In Visual Composer 7.0, if i use the Combo Chart with configuration "Columns + line",
the Column are overlapped.
Pax 2007 -> Column A
Pax 2008 -> Column B
Budget 2008 -> Line
Column A and Column are overlapped and i want to see separate columns ...
Is there the same things with 7.1 ?
Any idea ?
Thanks
Rodolphe.Hi Rodolphe,
If I understand you correctly, you would like to assign the columbs to series A and the Line to series B, that way to create an overlap.
As far as I know it is not possible to do that in VC7.1 ,since the type of the chart does not effect the way you define your series.

Chart missing Columns and Lines
I have created a Column Line Chart and allow the user to input different values that change formulas to produce the columns and line on the graph. I can see the graph perfectly fine with all columns and the line on the canvas view. Whenever I try to export to any file type, upon opening the file, all but two of the columns are missing and the line is missing in all spots except for at two points.
I've noticed that if I remove my formulas from my spreadsheet and just put in hard coded values in place of the formulas, the report populates correctly, but this takes away all functionality of allowing the user to adjust inputs, which is the entire reason we are using this software.
Please advise how I can fix this issue so that my chart shows all data.
Thanks,
DanHi Dan
This is common - this can happen due to possible reasons like
1) The data in preview mode on which the formula is applied is not same as the hard coded or the one in design mode. So when you go to preview its different view in the chart
2) Some other component is messing with the excel ranges you are using for formula for the chart - some components which can drop values as per their destination property.
This is how you need to test
- Add a test spreadsheet table component ( from selector category) and map all the cells that's included in the formula - the original range, the input values from the user interaction, and the final ranges with formula and the range to which chart is mapped to if different from the formula range.
- Preview the dashboard and see whats going on in those cells and if they all are behaving as expected.
- if the original data range and the input data are what you anticipate and not changed by any other variable you are not considering.
Use more than one spreadsheet table if the ranges I suggested are not contiguous.
Please try the above and post the updates.
Thanks

Horizontal Bar Chart and Overlaying Line Chart
I am using SSRS 2008 and developing my reports in BIDS.
I have a report with two data points. I want to chart the first as a bar (horizontal) chart and then the second as an overlaying line chart.
I created both data series, originally, as a bar chart. I have clicked on the second series in the "Drop Data Fields Here" area and changed the chart to a line chart. When I do that, it changes both series to a line chart.
However, if I use the column (vertical) chart for the first series, it will let me make the second one a line chart.
Is this a limitation of SSRS 2008? Can I not have one data point be the horizontal bar chart and the second one a line chart?
If so, are there any suggestions how to get around this?
Thanks.Both charts for SSRS 2005/2008 are very limited when it comes to horizontal charts and are infact supporting only left-to-right bar charts, with no ability to combine them with other charting types (lines, areas, points etc.). For a SSRS charting solution that supports all types of charting type combinations in left-to-right and right-to-left horizontal fashion you can use Nevron Chart for SSRS - www.nevron.com. Besides a huge number of charting types and subtypes (most of which are not available in the MS Chart for SSRS 2008) it also provides better image quality in 2D and 3D modes, more settings, has support for rich text formatting in texts, has image filters, ability to customize via C# code and implements many more large and small charting related details.

Creating SVG Chart with multiple lines
Hi All,
I want to create a chart with multiple lines.
Ex: I have one emp table with empno, sal and deptno columns.
I want to print deptno in x axis and no of employees on y axis.
I want to print one line for employees with sal > 15000 and one more line for employee with sal =< 15000
So one line will show no of employees with sal more than 15000 for each dept. Similar case for the other line and these 2 lines should be in different colors.
For one line the query will go as
select link, deptno, count(empno)
from emp where sal > 15000 group by null, deptno
Is this possible to draw this chart?
Thanks,
ManojI wasn't able to do something like what you describe, but I was able to do this:
I defined column A of the table as a Header Row, selected the cells in the table, and chose this chart type (2D 2 Axis):
Then I clicked the chart and in the pane at the right checked 'Axis Name' in the Axis tab and added the axis names.
Maybe this can give you an idea of how you can illustrate the relationships that you want to show.

Bubble chart with connecting line
Hi All,
Is there a way we can create bubble chart with connecting line.The bubble chart has only two measure, horizontal and size of bubble connected by lines. I am not able to find this kind of chart.Is there a way for similar chart?

Edited by: 872073 on Sep 27, 2012 7:20 AMI need to make an assumption to answer your question: I need to assume that you are getting your data with a query similar to:
select DoW, Part, sum(qty) as Count
from sales
group by DoW, Part
Change that to...
select DoW, Part, sum(qty) as Count
from sales
group by DoW, Part
UNION ALL
select distinct "Target" as DoW, Part, 50 as Count
from sales
That will feed the target into the cross tab, which will create an additional column, Target, with the value 50 for all parts. If the target is for the day, not part, then you would UNION
select distinct DoW, "Target" as Part, 50 as Count
from sales
which would give you an additional row with the constant target value of 50.
HTH,
Carl
P.S., There might be (probably is) better tables to use as the FROM table for the target SELECT. I wanted to keep things simple... -

Footer
like that it should be adjust based on data length.
please help me how to do it in RDLC (asp.net and c#).....
Your help would be highly appreciated!
Thank you very much in advance!Hi M.S.GopalKrish,
According to your description, it seems that you want to make the tablix rows to fill page size? We can configure the text box height size to work around the issue.
Use this method, we need to calculate the average height size of the text box in the tablix. For more details, please see:
We can use
RowNumber() function to calculate the row number of the tablix.
Calculate the page height size of the tablix in Property windows.
Use the page height size divided by row number. We can get the average height size of the text box.
Hope this helps.

Powershell Excel Chart: want to plot chart by columns
I have the following Powershell code to create a chart:
$range = $wb.ActiveSheet.usedRange
$range.EntireColumn.AutoFit() | Out-Null
$chartType = "microsoft.office.interop.excel.xlChartType" -as [type]
$wb.charts.add() | Out-Null
$wb.ActiveChart.chartType = $chartType::xlColumnClustered
$wb.ActiveChart.SetSourceData($range)
$wb.ActiveChart.HasTitle = $true
$wb.ActiveChart.ChartTitle.Text = "Chart"
The code creates the chart but it plots it by rows instead of columns (see
Office KB ). I can change this in Excel manually but is there a way with Powershell to output the chart in columns by default?Hi,
Perhaps setting xlColumns for the PlotBy property will be helpful:

Column Chart with Columns That Vary in Width
The subject is Column Chart with Columns That Vary in Width.
I have been concentrating on the column renderer. Unfortunately,
the renderer class receives control with access to limited
information. Mainly, what it gets is pixel counts that measure the
dimensions of the rectangle that ends up being a column. There is
no straightforward way to send width information to the renderer. I
can, however, change the color of the column. I thought of encoding
the width in the height, but that distorts the actual height,
potentially causing the chart scale to be computed incorrectly.
Also, the encoding is hard to reverse once the height in
transformed by an unknown and varying scale factor so that the
column fits on the chart. I love the way the column chart looks. I
only want to alter the width of each individual column. Since I am
drawing each column, if I knew the widths, I'd be done by now. Do
you have a better approach? Thanks in advance.You need three ColumnSeries. Set the dataProvider of each directly (instead of setting it for the ColumnChart) to something like this:
var cars:ListCollectionView = new ListCollectionView();
cars.list = inventory;
cars.filterFunction = function(item:Object):Boolean {
return item['category' /* or whatever your category field is */] == 'cars';
Do something similar for bikes and trucks. You can do something like this if you don't know the number of categories as well, but it's rather trickier (and left as an exercise for the reader). -
How to combine a stacked bar chart and a line graph together in one report
I have a report in excel that has stacked bar chart and a line graph together in one report. I am trying to recreate the same in Webi, Is this possible? Did any one have similar requirement, could you please share the thoughts?
Thanks,
HemaMay be I don't understand correctly...
But if its really to separate chart area's;
just copy the datablock and format one as line and the other as barchart...
Hope this helps,

Column & Line in a single chart. Ignore Grouping for Line
Hi,
Here is the scenario to show a chart for "Resource Allocation to selected Projects and capacity".
1. Show Staked Columns for Projects<o:p></o:p>
2. Show Capacity of Resource with Line Chart (both should be in same chart)<o:p></o:p>
3. Group By Projects(Series Group) and Category Groups By Month.<o:p></o:p>
Following is the desired out:
Problem I'm facing:
I was able to show both Columns and line by changing the chart type for capacity. But issue is that Group By (series Grouping) is applying to Line (Resource capacity) as well. So multiple resource capacity lines are appearing on the
graph. It would be good, If charts allows to display only one line by summing all group values for resource capacity.
So, Can we stop considering group By for line chart(Resource capacity)?
Below screen shows that how current report displaying.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks, RamHi ram,
According to your description, I can reproduce the same issue. Since the values in the chart is always relate to Category Groups and Series Groups. The behavior is by design in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
In SSRS, chart is similar to the matrix.
The Columns group in the matrix is identical to the Category Groups area in the chart.
The Rows group in the matrix is identical to the Series Groups area in the chart.
The Data area in the matrix is identical to the Values area in the chart.
Since we add data in the Values dialog box, it is in the Category Groups and Series Groups scope.

Chart Multiple Series - Line/Column Alignment
In one of the pages from the charting section of the Adobe's
online Flex help,
http://livedocs.adobe.com/labs/flex3/html/help.html?content=charts_types_12.html#227567
there's a picture near the top showing a line chart overlaid
on a column chart, and the endpoints of the line segments are
centered horizontally within each bar.
There are two code samples later in the page showing similar
charts, but the bars are only half as wide as they are in the first
picture, and the result is that the line segment endpoints coincide
with the right edges of the bar instead of the bar centers.
I'm wondering how to produce a graph like the first picture.
I tried different combinations of columnWidthRatio but nothing
seemed to help. If I add more line series to the examples, the bars
become thinner, as if the ColumnChart determines the bar width
according to the
total number of series, not just the number of column
series.
I thought about trying to add an ItemRenderer to the
ColumnSeries, but it seems that should be an easier way. Any ideas?

Chart Formatting Question: Line Bar Combo
Hello -
I have a quick question regarding the order of labels displayed in the legend on a line bar combo chart. I have figured out how to rearrange the order of bars in the chart (the order is determined by the order of fields in the criteria section), however, OBIEE seems to always put the "line" field before the "bar" fields in the legend.
I was wondering if there is a way to set the chart to display the "line" field following the "bar" fields in the legend?
Thanks for the help!
JasonHi Jason,
Go for Pivot Chart rather than Chart... and
Apply Order by s as you want inside pivot....
Previously even i got the order by problem in chart.. but trying the pivot chart, i resolved my issue...
So give a try..
Hope you know about pivot chart. Select Chart Only option from drop-down available for chart position
