I have received a notification that I need to verify my employment to continue my discount- the problem is this: I retired in Jan 2013 - in July of 2013 we traded in our very old cell phones for smart phones- the plans that we are on do not qualify for any discount ... so what does the almighty Verizon wish me to do?  They are saying that if I do not verify my employment I will loose my discount of 15% which I am not getting currently because my plans do not qualify????  makes sense duh

If you are no longer employed by the employer under which you received the Employer Discount, then you likely will not be eligible for a continued discount.  Those discounts are tied to ones employment.
However, if you are saying that you are not currently receiving an employer discount "because my plans do not qualify", then there is nothing for you to do.  The notation of the discount will drop automatically.

    I would like to tell everyone about three problems I am having with FiOS.
    Problem 1:
    Just after Christmas I tried to order FiOS service online, but I had issues with the website (Verizon connections page – I get a discount through my employer). So after several calls to customer service, I finally spoke to Miss B (I don’t want to post her name on the forum) on 1/17/12 who stated that she could help me.  I explained to her that I had trouble ordering online and she stated that she could help.  She stated that the current phone price was 94.99 for all three, but she verified that the connections web price was 84.99 before the connections discount so she spoke to her supervisor and got permission to extend the web price for the phone order.  So I again confirmed that the agreed upon rate was 84.99 per month for the triple play before my connections $10 discount.  Miss B. stated that she would have to go into my account after the install date and add the necessary discounts to bring the price to what was agreed.  She then stated that she would call me after I received my first bill to verify things were correct and that if I had any questions that I could call customer service and they could leave her a message to call me.  So I completed my order with her.  At the end of the order I again confirmed the price of 84.99 + 15 + 3.5 (services+boxes+unlisted) for a total price of 103.49 before tax. 
                    So needless to say that my first bill came and the price is not even close.    I called customer service on 2/15/12 and spoke to Kelly and she said that there is nothing that she could do to help.  After a few minutes she offered to reduce my bill by $10 for one year.  The problem is that I am on a two year contract and that the discount offered doesn’t match what I signed up for.  So I asked for her manager.  She stated that Miss H (name withheld) was not available and that she would call me back within 24-48 hours.   I still have yet to receive a call back.
    Problem 2:
    Verizon connections: I am entitled to a $10 employee discount through my employer.  Back in December I filled out the form on the Verizon connections website to receive my 12 digit code.  The problem is that these codes are only valid for 72 hours which I didn’t know at the time.  So in January I filled out the form again to obtain another code so I could place my order.  Unfortunately I never received an email back.  I even tried the verify employment without a work email (uploaded copy of my work id).  Again I received no email back.  So I called the help number on the Connections site which passed me off to another person, and then another, and so on.  After several hours and over a dozen people that stated they couldn’t help I tried the chat help.  After a lengthy chat session, Marie stated that she would hand this off to her manager and that he would call me within 24-48 hours.  After not receiving a call back I chatted again and the rep apologized and stated that he would follow up with the manager and assured me that someone would call me back.  Approx 1 hours later, Deena from Verizon emailed me the 12 digit code for me to add the discount.  One week later, Michael emailed me stating that Verizon had an email server problem and apologized for the inconvenience.  So After three weeks and several hours on the phone I finally received my connections discount.  What a PAIN!!!
    Problem 3:
    My Install…..On the day of installation, the tech spent approx. 3 hours at my house installing the service.  The problem was that he left before all of the boxes completed their programming.  One of my HD boxes kept rebooting so I called the 800 number and spent 45 minutes on the phone with them to tell me that I had a defective box.  So I returned the box to the Verizon store for a new one.  The rep at the store was surprised that the tech installed the old silver HD boxes at my house.  So I returned home and installed the new Motorola box which worked.  Approx 1 hour later the other two silver HD boxes started to reboot whenever I streamed something from the Multiroom DVR to them.  Again I returned to the Verizon store for two new Motorola Boxes.  So I had to make two trips to the Verizon store in the first 24 hours of my new service.
                    Two weeks later I receive my first bill and I was surprised to notice that I was being charge for two additional outlets which the rep that took my order never informed me of.  So I get to pay for two additional outlets when the tech never even verified that the boxes work.
    So in the end Verizon doesn’t honor what they tell you.  I'm almost at the end of my  initial 30 days before my two year contract takes effect so I’ll post an update and let everyone know if I am still a FiOS customer.

    Here's an update. I filled out the online form that Anthony from Verizon requested that I do so that a rep could follow up with me. Well it's been four days since I've completed the online form and I have yet to receive any communication from verizon. This is the third time someone has said a supervisor would call me and nothing.

  • 1st time homebuyers some questions - Update: Creditor out of the woodwork!

    I have worked hard over the years to correct several credit issues. As a result, I have excellent credit (mid score 770), but a high dti with a student loan @ $52 k+, a personal loan that was used to pay off several large credit balances taken out a year ago (now @ $16K), a car loan from 2 years ago ($17K). My salary is $50K/yr. My husband was laid off back in 2010 and left an apartment lease, so that is on his credit file. He earns $48k/yr now, having been employed continuously since 2012. His mid score is 660 and has little debt, one credit card with about $2k balance he has been paying off on time and over the minimum. We have been preapproved for a VA loan and have put in a contract on a house. Closing is in Aug. We are pending appraisal (already ordered) and are in loan processing. We need both our salaries to qualify for the loan to buy a house in our desired area, and his VA status for the VA loan. We have been married 2 years. My husband's company has changed hands from the original, to another, then another since he has worked there. The last changeover happened last year in Sept. The old entity was completely dissolved and there is no way to verify employment. However, I am a packrat and I have all, or maybe most, of his paystubs from that previous employer, and of course the w2 that was filed during that period with IRS. But theres no HR dept to contact to do a formal verifications of employment for that company anymore, and the current company will only verify for the period in which they took over. So I supplied the ream of paystubs, and gave the lender the contact information for my husband's supervisor who can also verify that my husband has been employed continuously, consecutively, without gaps, for 3+ years, and he also wrote a LOE that simply explains that the previous company listed on his W2 doesn't exist anymore. Is it possible this will satisy the lender? Also, knowing that we will have a month before our first loan payment is due after closing, I wanted to wait to give our current landlord notice of our vacating until that time. She is already aware we are in the process, but since we are now on a month-to month, I didn't want to initiate that until I was sure the contract will close. My lender has not asked for verifications of rent, or even my landlords contact info, should I be proactive and supply those so as to not hold up the process? Will they even ask? I've rented here for 5 years, my husband is listed as an "occupant" as I had already been living here when we got married. The differance between our current rent and the mortgage including tax and insurance will be +$400. I'm just very anxious that something may hender this process. My husband is having to work a lot, too much, right now and it's all fallen on me to complete these things when the lender requests. We actually got in a silly argument last night because I was trying to get almost 2 years of biweekly paystubs in the correct date order and asking him to help, and... never mind. We never fight. It's stupid to get into an argument over this and he actually said he'd rather walk away than us fight. That's sweet and all, but having already invested about $2500, and much time and papework, I think I'd like to make sure this goes through.

    I activated the cards. I had actually forgotten about the first one, but had gotten another one in the mail that day, so it suddenly occurred to me that I better get that taken care of if it wouldn't mess up anything. Appraisal came back with good news, priced right and no repairs needed. Loan is through under writing and headed to "final approval". What do they do at that stage? Is that when they may do another credit pull? No issue, we've been very careful, though my son's car needed some work it was less than the payments I had made on the CC I used. Since this month was a "3 payday" month, I may just pay the most recent charges before the bill comes, but I always use my credit card rather than my bank card because of it being easier to dispute charges if some type of fraud happens, and I'm not out $$ while they do the research. Got another call from the deadbeat zombie junk collectors. I have a few other colorful phrases, but let's keep it clean. My husband was all irritated with me because I answered the call and it got me all agitated again. This one claimed to be calling from "Citibank" when I asked her the name of her company. Repeated it twice. But then couldn't tell me what the supposed debt was for "possibly a loan"... "or maybe a credit card". Even said it was from "sometime from 2002-2010" when I questioned when this supposed loan or credit card was from. Refused to give me the address of the company, and therefore made it obvious she wasn't actually calling from Citibank, she could have just referred me to their address, it's not like it's not readily available. She just kept talking over me and yelling when I kept repeating my request for her company name and the address. Then again said they were filing papers for suit "that day" and to expect to be served "since I'm obviously not willing to take care of this." You bet your bippie. I went ahead and created a watch on my credit reports to notify me of any inquiries, changes in score, etc. I used Experian but paid for all three. I also went ahead and reported the calls to the CFPB even though I didn't have the company name. But I'll let the next one go to voice mail and hope they leave a number I can research to track them down.

    I've been working on a usda direct for a little while now and wanted to share my experience as well as ask some questions. 5/16 - sent my prequal back to state for review5/24- received email that I appeared to qualify and copy of full app was attached6/5 - snail mailed my app back. Sent it 2 day so I had tracking. Also included my 32.00 credit report fee6/8 - usda rcvd my application6/15 - rcvd call asking for additional info. My middle score was only a 623 so I provided additional credit from non reported sources (utilities,  directv and cell phone) they also contacted my job to verify employment.6/26 - rcvd confirmation my file was sent to loan specialist for review.7/2 - followed up with loan specialist. Confirmed she had my package but she was going on vacation the next week.7/13 - folowed up with loan specialist. While she was out I made and offer and had it accepted on a great house. Made approval for financing a contingency. Also signed my agreement. Scheduled closing for 60 days out to give time.  (Sept 14)7/16 - PREAPPROVED!! Received COE via email.7/21 - emailed addtl info.7/23 - emailed SAME addtl info7/27 - rcvd email that info was rcvd and appraisal was ordered last week7/27 - appraisal scheduled for 7/29!!7/29 - Appraisal completed7/30 - Rcvd Orientation Packet, TILA, GFE and other docs via FedEx. Will be sending these back later today after work.7/31 - Scheduled homeowners class for 8/12. Found out my LO will be out of the office from 8/8-8/19 8/5 - Still waiting on appraisal results. Got the standard "don't call us, we'll call you" return email from LO. Not too impressed considering she will be gone for 12 days and i can't even order the inspections that USDA is REQUIRING until i have the results of the appraisal.8/12 - Took 1st Time Homebuyers course, was able to find a local organization offering them for FREE!!! WHOO HOO!! Still waiting on the appraisal results. I've decided to hold off on ordering the inspections till i have the numbers. Something in my gut is telling me to wait. I don't want to lose out on the money if the house doesn't appraise for enough. Closing is 1 month from tomorrow, so close yet so far. 8/20 - Received appraisal results!!!! 5k above offer!!! (a whole 23 days after completed)8/21 - Scheduled inspections for 9/1 (first available date) I'll update as I go!!

    Why did I not receive the employer discount on new phone and accessories?

    Are you currently receiving an employee discount on your bill?  Have you provided Verizon with proof of employment with a qualifying company?
    Since April (?) 2013, Verizon has been re-verifying employment to be sure that those receiving discounts are, in fact, eligible.  If you have  not recently confirmed employment, your discount may have been dropped.

    I tried the temp fix you mentioned, it didn't work.  I could not delete all of the old itunes files, the uninstallers would crash half way through and if I tried to manually delete anything it also gave me an error, so reinstalling the older version would not work. 
    Frankly, this whole thing has got me ****** off.  judging by the amount of complaints here, there must be a lot of people having this problem, yet Apple has let it go on for almost 2 weeks.  What kind of inept coders are they employing if they can let an update that completely frags their software get through QA.
    Does anyone know of any programs that will play itunes music files?  I am just about done dealing with iTunes, but I've got a ton of music that I don't want to have to purchase all over again.

    Hey everyone, Kind of an odd question.  I served in the Army for 6 years and was medically retired last year.  I receieved a 100% P&T rating from the VA so I get a nice check from them every month.  I was employed for a little bit before my wife and I moved to Colorado.  I also started graduate school in February and get another stipend (on top of the disability) from the VA for going to school.  Anyway what is the best way to report my employment status?  I fear if I list student and list the money I receive from the VA every month they might not take the income listed seriously.  I suppose I could also list "Retired" since that pension from the VA wont go down or go away... Thoughts anyone?Oz

    I feel like you can legitimately select either and still feel like you're being completly honest... since both are truthful. Most folks don't have any difficulty when they select 'student', as the others have stated.  However, there have been a couple of cases on here where students were asked for verification of income, specifically with Capital One and American Express.  In the Capital One case, the poster had a thin credit file and was asking for a CLI which is what caused his income to be verified.  In the Amex case, it was a full financial review, since the poster was running a significant amount through his charge card each month while reporting himself as a student.  While these two examples are outliers, the 'common thread' was they both reported being students.  It's not as common for a credit card company to ask a retired person for proof of income, since generally retired folks are older and have a sufficiently thick file. Since your income is easily verified, if I were you I would feel comfortable reporting either 'student' or 'retired', since both are true.  However with some lenders you might have an occasional extra hurdle when self-reporting as a student.  YMMV. Just my 2¢.

    You have an incorrect address. You could refer back to the college but I am sure you need to start with https: and make sure you drop that comma on the end.

  • How do I validate my employment if I don't have a work email address and it is a paperless billing system. I don't get a paystub.

    I work for Xerox and we don't get paper checks so I have no physical paystub. Everything is on file with the employer, but I also don't have a personal work email. So how do I validate to get the discount?

    Can you print out your pay information?  If you have access online to your paycheck info, you should be able to print out  the equivalent of a "pay stub" to verify your employment with a qualified employer.

    Your guidlines are required for following issue -
    While hiring a separated employees for re-employment, we requires, his previous employement data to be invoked for certain infotypes.  
    I tried to do the same with following step -
    Personnel Management --> Personnel Administration --> Customizing Procedures --> Infotypes --> Infotypes
    Currently, while pulling the data of infotype 0006 ( Addresses ), giving message 'No record with the same key for personnel number 00008598'  which is the previous to previous employee number.
    Like to know more about the same.

    It looks like your IT 0006 configuration (specifically, the sub-types) has changed since this person was last in your organisation. The subtype used against his old PERNR is no longer configured in your system.
    You can verify this by opening table PA0006 and viewing all records for this employee's old PERNR and comparing the values with those available in your IT 0006 drop-downs.

  • How do I create a business Apple ID when employed by a Town/School District?

    I recently passed the 10.8 support Exam and I'm having difficulties logging into the Apple Certification Records page.
    I was told to create an Apple ID that was associated with my business. I am employed by the Town of Norfolk, Massachusetts, working in 2 elemtary schools.
    I tried to create an Apple ID using my school issued email address, but that did not work... I was able to locate a page where you could add a "Company" to your Apple ID, but neither the "Town of Norfolk" nor "Norfolk Public Schools" was an option.
    I sent an email to contracts@apple, applecert@apple, certifications@apple, svc.authorize@apple (after being transferred a few times) inquiring about this.
    Basically, I'd like to be able to log into the Certification Records page with the Apple ID that uses my employer given email address. Is that possible?

    Not that I know. S&T pricing only applies to verified institutions. Could well be that you may need to fill out a paper with whatever governmental authority is responsible on the planet you live, but otherwise you're just a private business like any other and would most likely deduct the expenses from your tax bill...
