Verizon is no longer a decent company

I have been a Verizon customer for over 10 years.  I even have all my home services through Verizon.  A couple of months ago I was in a Verizon store with my daughter due to a problem with her phone.  While there I mentioned that the lock button on my phone did not work  The representative saw that I had a warranty on my phone and told me that this was a common problem and that the repair was covered under the warranty.  She took my phone, looked it over and told me that since there was not other damage at all to the phone there would be no charge.  I would receive a replacement phone in the mail and all I had to do was send the broken one back.   I did just that.  All of a sudden two phone bills later I get a $300 equipment charge.  I called to find out what this was about.  I was now told that they claim to have found other damage to the phone and that I was sent an email telling me that.  I informed the rep that I did not receive this email and if I would have I would have demanded the phone back.  The only problem was the lock button.  Everything else on the phone was fine.  The rep looked up my account and saw for herself that I did not receive an email.  She also found the records from the store stating that there was no other damage to the phone.  I was told that there were pictures of the phone.  I told her I wanted those pictures sent to me.  Still have not received them.  The rep said she would put the paperwork in to request the charge be taken from my bill due to the fact that I was not previously told about it and was not given the opportunity to get my phone back.  I was told that I would be contacted within two days about the results.  Here is it almost two weeks later and I still have not heard anything.   I have put the renewal of my home services on hold and will not continue with Verizon unless this issue gets resolved.   This company does not give one bit of care about customers.  It's all about it's bottom line.  There are other companies out there.  Time to look for a new provider.

Other carriers do the same. Shoot even computer parts manufacturers do the same. Been there and done that.
Ironically I am going to tell you a story about water damage. My niece had to return her phone and they said her phone was water damaged. She totally forget it was on the table when my son tip his water cup on the table. I told her I would buy her another one and she didn't care. My brother was all peeved and was going to ground her when he got the bill. I saved her behind and paid for it... A few times i done some silly stufd and broke my devixe. Sometimes I am in a rush and didn't package my phone well/correctly.  This was all on AT&T and T-Mobile.
Doesn't have to be the owner of the device that damages their phone. It could happen at a party, a friends house, a wedding, or even the rain(using it during heavy rain(done this a few times myself). Doesn't have to be Verizon scamming people. Sometimes it's people trying to scam carriers for a better device. Being on top these things stand out more. Verizon may be more strict about inspecting devices so more devices don't pass compared to other carriers.
I don't pass judgment because they are big, or whatever is on the Internet because often you never get the full story and can't tell if they are genuine.

  • Verizon customer service and new direction company has taken...?

    November 15, 2013
    To whom it may concern:
I will make this letter brief, knowing I will not get a response because of the lack of Values Verizon holds!
Most recently, your company has deliberately failed to honor previously made guarantees with their unlimited plan.  I have fought this issue for about a year but I have recently accepted this and attempted to give Verizon another opportunity to show they value their loyal customers.
I had set up a third line two years ago for my paraplegic brother, whom I care for.  Due to unexpected circumstances, the line has not been used.  I attempted to restructure my contract ONE-month early without a greedy penalty from Verizon.  Again, I was disappointed with a total disregard to customer care.  Verizon representatives were not willing to waive a ONE-month early cancellation fee for an unused third line, even when I was going to upgrade my phone and give-in to Verizon's greed with the restructure of my unlimited plan.
I understand that my contract is just a "Speck of Dust in a Vast Desert", but I thought that just maybe, Verizon still valued their loyal customers to eat a greedy fee in that same vast desert.  I was wrong, again...
You will lose a loyal customer on 12/19/2013, when I will only have to pay for one cancellation fee.  Thank you Verizon for your new direction with no values or customer care!  Better yet, especially with your company's treatment of a loyal VETERAN customer!
    Respectfully,
    Dan

It is sad when greed is the leader in corporate operations.  That we pay all the fees incurred by the companies operating cost and taxes and upper management bonuses and profits with nothing passed down to us who supply the reason they exist. All companies have went this route and continue the cut the hands that feed them. Customers do have a voice..... Your money.  Take it elsewhere when you are not satisfied with service. Any company whom isn't providing adequate service should feel that pinch. But we see large entities conspiring together to lock in high cost by raising it across the board. It's basically picking which pineapple you prefer to crammed in our backside.  Given less products and service for higher rates has been the trend since 2008 and looks to continue until there is nothing left to take from the consumer.

  • Verizon losing a long-term customer over upgrade

    Hi -
I'm not sure posting in this forum gets to anyone at Verizon but I don't know where else to turn.  I am not eligible to upgrade my phone but have been having a lot of problems with it in the last couple months.  I called today to find out what my options are.  I asked if an exception could be made for an early upgrade and was told no.  I asked if it's possible to add a new line for a small additional monthly fee and was told it would cost me an extra $60 a month - clearly not worth it.  It will cost me less to cancel my plan with Verizon and start a new plan with AT&T than to upgrade my phone at the full price.
I have been a Verizon Wireless customer for over 13 years.  I pay my bill in full every month for this time.  In this time, I've spent nearly $15,000 with Verizon (tough to see that number all at once).  When I asked the representative I spoke to and the supervisor I spoke to if it's Verizon's policy that they would rather lose a long term customer of this value than to allow me to upgrade my phone early for the difference of a few hundred dollars, they had no answer other than this is Verizon's policy and they can't do anything about it, the end.
I will be contacting AT&T Wireless this weekend to find out about porting my number and canceling my plan with Verizon.  I'm sorry to go because I've generally been happy with my service until now.  I can't even find an email or a way to express my dissatisfaction other than coming to this forum.
Thanks for letting me express my frustrations here.

I agree with you too. I've been with Verizon for over 20 years, and shudder to think how much I've poured into that company. But Elector is correct, as individuals, Verizon will not miss our contribution to their bottom line. Based on reviews on their website, I was led to believe that a Windows 8 phone was the way of the future. But as it turns out, it's a *** when it comes to functionality and app availability. I lost many apps I had on my Droid that I used often, and there's no indication that those apps will be available on Win8 phones in the near future, if at all. But to switch to a Droid phone now would cost me nearly $1000 in phone cost and fees for early plan changes, if I stay with Verizon. I will seriously consider my allegiance to Verizon when my contract expires in about 1.5 years. Until then I expect to be totally dissatisfied for the duration. Come on Verizon, show show compassion for your dedicated customers!!!!!!!

  • Verizon email no longer downloads to Outlook or Android tablet

Before moving to an area (SC) that doesn't have Verizon Internet,  I registered my domains and have been receiving and sending my verizon.net mail with no problems since November 2014.  However,  since Thursday 3/26/15, email clients on my Samsung Android tablet and Outlook on my laptop no longer can connect to the server. The programs continue to get emails from my other email domains with no problems.  I can only get my verizon mail using webmail.  My attempt to call verizon support and get help has been unsuccessful. Why do my Tablet an PC Email clients fail to contact your server?  Please help! Thanks.

  • Silly question, maybe. I want to change from Verizon DSL to cable, but cable company doesn't supply router.  can I use my Airport Extreme as wireless router?

We currently have the following wireless home-network configuration, powered by Verizon DSL.
    2 macbook pro’s
    1 emachine
    HP PhotoSmart 6122 all-in-one printer
    Apple TV
Apple Airport Extreme Base Port A 1408
    Westell 7500 router
Thinking I’d get wider wireless coverage throughout my 2 bedroom home, I purchased the Airport Extreme. It is connected to the router via its sole usb port.  The result was only a tiny increase in speed, and no increase in coverage, so I don’t know why I have it.
We now want to change from DSL to cable, thus ditching Verizon.  Our new cable provider supplies the cable box, but no router for wireless networking.
    Here are my questions.
Can I use the Airport Extreme (AE) as a wireless router?
If so, how should I hook it up?  Should the usb cable go from the AE to the cable box, and all the other devices connect wirelessly?
If not, how should I be using the AE to some advantage?  What can I get out of the investment?
Thank you very much for your help!  Beatriz

What I wrote has nothing to do with what the cable company charges for their installation. And, usually they will help with the router setup even if you supply your own router. I don't know what they will charge for the modem.
Note that you need to get just a modem. You don't want a modem/router combination. That will make using an AEBS effectively nearly impossible. You will need to ask specifically for just a standalone modem, and that you will supply your own router.

  • Trouble with VPN and Verizon MI424WR router - not connecting to company intranet

I need to connect to my work intranet and via VPN.  There was no problem accessing both when I had Verizon DSL.   Since I switched to FIOS, I can access email via VPN but not my Company's internet and various internal company websites.  I saw a previous forum with a similar problem using the Actiontec router, but wanted to make sure I tried a correct fix for my router.  My router is connected via both Coax ad Ethernet to the ONT since I signed up for FIOS internet first and then added TV later.  I don't know if both are active.  I have a spare Linksys wireless G router I can add to the network  if needed.  My router firmware is 20.10.7.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thanks to all for the suggestions.  I could not see how the VPN software was the culprit since it worked at various hotels, Panera bread ... but decided to try to uninstall and re-install the latest version.  Viola, I am now working.  I plan to leave the linksys router in the system since the speed is significantly faster.

  • Firefox 4,5,6 can no longer load my company's website.

This has happened on a few different computers. When I try to go to my company's website, I get stuck in an endless "Connecting to..." "Waiting for..." loop that seems to reset every second or so. Firefox 3.x, Chrome, and IE have no problems loading the website. I've tried changing proxy settings, to no effect.

Try resetting Firefox to it's default settings.
    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Resetting%20preferences
If that doesn't work, it's possible that your company web site contains code that isn't compatible with Firefox. As you say, other browsers do not have an issue.
Try a browser compatibility testing web site, such as the one below (I have not used this site, but there should be others available)

  • When an employee is no longer with the company and their iPad is still linked to their iTunes account, how can we unlink it when we cannot contact the employee?

I am the IT support for a big company and we use a lot of iPad's. The one problem we are running into is when an employee leaves the company and their i Pad is still link, we need to use this iPad for another employe but we are unable to wipe it and start from factory cause it wants us to log into their itunes account.  If they used their work email to set up their iTunes account this is not an issue as we can access their work email. But if they use their personal email and we do not have a way to contact them then this becomes a big issue. Is there any work around with this at all?

  • Why is Verizon taking so long to apply my credit to my bill?

I did the Verizon Edge upgrade back in November 26, 2014 and I payed the difference for the buyout. Verizon,s warehouse received my phone on December 9, 2014. On my January bill I received an equipment charge of $240, claiming that the device wasn't received. I called in late January when I saw the amount an filed the request with the phone representative (including the Tracking number from USPS, which luckily I kept). I had to call again in the beginning of February because I did not receive any communication stating whether or not my request was approved. I had to file another request with another representative who asked for the tracking number again. I followed up within 3-4 day, regarding my second request and spoke with another representative stating it was approved, but I would have to wait for the next billing cycle. Meanwhile, I was previously told that if it was approved my credit would be applied within 24 hours. I agreed to pay the difference between what I owed and the credit and it annotated in my account.
Now, I'm on my next billing cycle and the department that handles applying the credit processed it too late. Now, I'm being told AGAIN that I have to wait for next billing cycle. I am already being contacted stating that if I do not pay my past due balance my services will be interrupted. I have never seen such an inconsideration, where I am being billed, for an internal mistake on behalf of Verizon and their procedures, two months later (going on to the third) and they still will not apply my credit even though I was told by a phone representative and supervisor. I've had to call customer service multiple times throughout two months. I have received such rude and poor customer service to the point that I was continuously being interrupted and was transferred out to another department without notice. This type of customer service is incredibly insulting to the consumer and just motivates switching providers!

I use a Mac... Never had trouble downloading updates with wifi  before... And I pre-ordered my 6 plus and have to wait a month... Not real happy at the moment...

  • Why can't I call Verizon? You're a phone company, aren't you?

Your customer service is the worst I've encountered by any company whatsoever.

wait... you cant call but yet you said they are the worst?
    i'm so confused.
try posting your problem here, maybe someone can help you understand your bill

  • How to handle check-out files of users that are no longer with the company?

We have cases that files were checked out and modified, but the engineers left before they check-in the files. What's the right way to handle such cases? Does the project admin have right to check-in for the engineers? How can we make another person to
    check the files in?

    Hi Peter,
    Thanks for your post.
Do you want check-in that files within the changes which that left engineer created to TFS Server? If yes, you need logon that engineer’s client using his account, then get modified files on this client and perform check-in.
If you don’t need that changes which modified by that left engineer, just the check-out files on this client caused other users cannot work on that files, you can ask the team project admin user to perform
tf undo command on that files to resolve this checked-out issue.
For example, the files be checked-out under workspace1, so execute this command “tf undo $/xx/xx(file path)
    /collection:collectionURL /workspace:workspace1 /recursive” to undo it

  • Genius no longer providing decent playlists

I'm using iTunes 10.2.1 but this has been going on a while and with previous versions. Genius always used to return great playlists, but now they are rubbish. In fact they seem to always lean heavily on the same 3 or 4 albums, regardless of the music genre I choose. For example, a genius request today for Kanye's "Power" returned 8 songs by Bob Dylan. Any ideas why this is happening?
Furthermore, when I click the sidebar tab for Genius Mixes, only 4 are available (not the whole collection).
So far the only action I have taken is to turn Genius off and on.

Click Cmd-A to select all songs.
Then Right click in the list to bring up the menu.
Towards the bottom of the menu, you'll find "Check Selection" (& "Uncheck Selection", too!)
Select "Check selection" and voila! all songs checked.

  • MY VERIZON ACCOUNT : No Longer Have Cell Phone but still on website account

Could the fact that both my landline phone and my old cell phone are still listed on my website when I access MY ACCOUNT means that outsiders can use my cell phone number to access my home phone?  There is no support I can find to delete that old cell phone number off MY ACCOUNT. I can't talk to any one about it. You won't let me. It says verification pending. That is part of a huge security violation problem isn't it?  Worldwide?

Can you delete the contact, reset your phone and then re add the contact again?

  • I am a very long term customer how is now very disappointed with Verizon!

I am writing in to give one final try at gaining a positive response from Verizon.  I called in to talk to Customer Service today with a request and was really disappointed at getting a NO for a response.   I have a family plan with 4 phones of varying contract/upgrade dates.  Mine…6/10/15. Wife’s…5/29/14.  Mom’s…6/20/13.   Son…4/11/16.  Two of the phones are past their date and thus we can upgrade without additional fees.   I will be disconnecting my mom’s phone as she hasn’t used it since 8/6 and won’t be using it as she is moving into a Memory Care facility for Alzhiemers.   Thus my request was whether there was a way to upgrade my phone and my wifes phone to the iPhone 6 without having to pay an added fee for upgrading mine early.   I asked that they take into account that my mom’s is 16 months past her upgrade date, I am 9 months from mine and we are very very long term customers. Verizon has been our cell phone company ever since we bought cell phones a long time ago.  I was told NO.    I then told the service rep that if I have to wait until 6/10/15, I have no real reason to stay with Verizon as saying no to this request just makes no sense when it is being ask by a customer of such long standing.  I was told NO again.  Even though I am clearly not a customer that hops from one cell phone service provider to another...Verizon told me NO.  Even if it costs a bit more to switch to AT & T (which it may or may not...I don't know)…on 6/11/15 my wife and I will be leaving Verizon and my son can have an individual account.

You sign a contract promising to a 2 yr service commitment in exchange for a substantial discount on a phone. You are 9 months from completing your commitment. There is no reason for Verizon to grant your request. In fact, they may be contractually obligated to NOT do so depending on their terms for selling the iPhone negotiated with Apple.
In the past, Verizon has been lenient(by a month or 2 but never 9 months) with approving an early upgrade, but NEVER with an iPhone. The reason for this has been hinted at being because of the contract terms Verizon has with Apple. Verizon is not going to jeopardize their ability to have iPhones on their network to satisfy your demand.
Currently, there is a limited time offer to upgrade early with Verizon if you are eligible to get a discounted upgrade by 11/15/2014. Unfortunately you fall outside of that window.
Good luck with the new provider, you will be unlikely to ever get an early upgrade at another provider either.
