Verizon will not port my number

I'm trying to move from a small carrier (Chat Mobility) to Verizon.  I'm moving 3 phones now and will add another 2 next year.  I really want to take my old phone numbers with me.  When I went to the store today they told me it’s not possible to port the numbers.  How can that be?  I know Chat Mobility runs on the Verizon network so I know they have coverage here.  Verizon doesn’t have a problem selling me a phone with a new number for where I live but won't let me port my number?.  When I talk to tech support they just tell me "that's weird" and can't explain to me why.  Please help.

I'd call the to see if they have a way to "migrate" the phone number instead of trying to port it. I know that's how some other carriers do those transfers...assign a temporary number, then migrate the old vendor carrier phone number from the vendor system into the standard postpaid system. Hope they can get it straightened out for you, but like daonys said, it's possible they may not be able to perform a migration, either. It's always worth a shot.

    This problem is very frustrating. iMessage will not verify my number and when I send messages with iMessage on, many people I text say my contact comes through as my email.  I've tried basically every suggestion I could find.  Verizon was no help and neither was apple support.  I saw someone said if your number is unique that may be a cause.  My number does have 4 0's in a row in it, but I don't see how that could be a problem.  Please help!

    I have 4 x 0's in my number and have the same problem.  I can send iMessages but not sms messages.  I swapped sim cards and my phone then started semding message ok but the phone i put my sim card into stopped sending messages. Apple engineers tell me it is a network carrier problem.  Optus tell me it's an apple iPhone problem.  Seems the only solution will be changing phone numbers.

    Switched to iPhone 5 on July 31st.  Since then our data usage has doubled.  Verizon will not help find out what the problem could be, they claim they are unaware of a problem.  I told them to look on the customer support page and many have complained about the problem.  Now on the apple site I see it may be an apple problem.  Some one needs to fix this.  Apple you want us to use your products, please do t make it cost us more money just to do what we did prior without problems.  Prior phones were iPhone 4 and we never had issues and never went over 8 gb's for 4 phones.  Now we are doing 14.  Can anyone tell me what is going on.  Getting ready to stop using cell phones all together.

    Well you could Restore it from your backup and see if that helps. If it doesn't Restore it as new and manually add things back until the problem starts again.
    I would also suggest trying a different SIM.
    Without iOS 7 there is no way to isolate what is using the data.

    It looks like you are sending SMS messages to the U.S. Unfortunately, for messages sent to the U.S., we are currently unable to set the sender ID to your verified number because we are required to send U.S. messages using our shortcode number.

  • Trial version will not accept seriel number

    I was informed today in chat with online help. I wanted to download an update for my Acrobat 8 Proff, and was told/informed to order Adobe Creative Suite 5.5.in Danish.
    I have ordered, payed, I have got a seriel number by mail (today), and the person informed me to follow a link from chat for a trial version to download.. Now I have downloadet, and i have to choose to fill in the seriel number og choose the trial version. The trial version is not in Danish. When I fill in the seriel number, I get the message, that the number do not fit.
    Please help, I have to get the program to work to day!

    I think, I was misinformed by your colleges. Because in the chat I was informed to order the program, pay, and then I got a link in the chatroom for downloading a trialversion. Så I downloaded the trialversion, wich is in English, but I ordered a Danish version.

    There is no default passcode that will unlock your iPad.
    You have to restore the device within iTunes. You want to use the same computer that you always sync with so that you can restore your app data and settings. You can restore with any other computer, but you will lose everything on the iPad.
    You will probably have to use recovery mode

  • Verizon Fios rep says that I can not port my number.

    I had Verizon number for about 14 years and I recently moved to a new house and got Fios. When they signed up for Fios triple play on phone, the sales rep said that my number will be transferred to my new location. Meanwhile, I was given temporary number. Installation was done and I was told that the old number be active by 5pm that day. Did not happen. Called verizon back and they said it would take another 24 hrs. No success and I called back. Same response again and was told to wait 2 days now. Called again and finally spoke to someone who said that she will straighened everything out and will call in 48 hrs. Got no response on 3rd day so I called back. By now, I must've called about 4-5 times regarding this issue. Finally, they told me that after sending trouble ticket, back end department told them that the number can NOT be transferred. They said it is copper based line and can not be put on Fios network, which is digital network. I told her that Vonage said they can port it and she said they can NOT port it either, because it is a copper line number. I had spoken to Vonage before getting Fios and was told that they can port it without any problem. Just to confirm again, I called Vonage and I was told that the number is portable. I want that same number but Fios won't give it to me. Feels like they told me they could port number originally just to get my business. Did anyone else have same problem? Any way to resolve it?

    I am a patient person, yet patience does not always pay off in getting results as evident in this example of trying to communicate with Verizon Wireless Customer Service.
    It seems to me that upon losing a loyal customer to another provider, Verizon would attempt to lure that customer back with at least some type of positive interaction.  Yet it appears that not only do you get slapped in the face with charges that do not make sense to the end user but you cannot get an explanation as to why these charges are occurring.  Furthermore, when you are told you will be informed about it and then forgotten (with what appears to be the "ignore and customer will forget about it" scenario), that end user is just reinforced with a solid decision to never come back to Verizon and will also try to steer away anyone he knows from joining up with Verizon.
    I am asking once again for someone to contact me about this issue.  Today (4-4-13) I called Verizon once again and tried to get in touch with *#*#*# at ext. #*#*.  You would have thought I asked the representative to explain the laws of physics as she was clueless as to how to do that.  I then explained to her about the issue *#*#*# and I talked about and that I had not heard from her.  She then informed me that she would get a message to her (*#*#*#) and someone would contact me.
    As I stated in opening paragraph, it appears Verizon is more concerned about earning profits than customer service, which is now another reason for my leaving to another provider.   However, I will continue to badger about the charges in question and will keep records of my correspondence as well as attempted correspondence until I do get a clear explanation of such.

    Then NO Verizon customers are "non loyal" as Verizon does not have the cheapest plan. Maybe the cheapest plan with the best coverage?
    I have been with Verizon for several years and I always pay my invoice on time. I purchase ALL of my accessories from Verizon because I find they have the lowest prices when you add in my employer's discount. Other retailers just can't match the price. However, I don't really consider myself a "loyal" customer, just one who stays with the provider which is the best match for my needs. If another provider would do so, I would have no problem comparing them and choosing the best one.

  • Cross References Will Not Display Page Number

    Got some documents created in InDesign CS3 (MAC). When bringing them into CS4 (Windows) and trying to create a paragraph cross-reference the page numbers will not display. All the other text in the cross reference ("paragraph", the word "page", etc.) displays correctly. Even the cross reference under the "hyperlinks" toolbar shows nothing (instead of the usual # indicating a page number).
    However If I copy some of the same pages into a new document and create a cross reference in it the page number displays correctly. But since it's over 300 pages I really would hate to have to do that!
    Any ideas?

    Is it maybe because CS3 does not include the cross references function (not a feature until CS4)?
    That's a real problem if we use an outside source to create a lot of our documents and they're working in a previous version.

  • Acrobat Pro 9 will not accept serial number

    When I install Acrobat Pro 9 on Windows 7 x64 I recieved the error message invalid serial number.  I have called  and verified that the number is valid.  This serial number is part of the CS 5 Design suite.  The application will install in the trail mode but will not license.  I have used the CD and downloaded the application from the adobe web site.

    How did you get the serial number for Acrobat 9 Pro?

    OK I have figured it all out.
    You buy Adobe Creative Suite 5 Design premium Student and Teacher edition.
    You go to the Order Fulfillment page http://www.adobe.com/uk/education/students/studentedition/order_fulfillment.html
    You click on "Get you serial number"
    (log in if you aren't already)
    You enter all the information and attach your student ID etc, selecting your product as the design premium, and you get a support request raised. Within a few days you get a serial number for CS5 Design Premium (mine took 7 minutes to get).
    But you need to repeat this process, entering all the same information, but choose Acrobat 9 Professional as the product. It then sends you a serial number on the second case you raised.
    By this time, I had installed Acrobat 9 Pro as a trial, so I entered the serial number in and it all worked, then I clicked on Help - Registration and it all went through okay.
