Version a JSP page?

Hi we r making some projects with JSP as front end and
SQL as a back end and we want to version our Site but
i dont know how to version a web based application
....cuz we are not using any of activeX controls or
any other control/component..........plz help me
Are you sure everyone is talking about the same thing?
"Version Control" software is used to backup software as developers work on it. It does this by allowing a developer to check in new versions of the code. It also allows a developer to revert to a previous version.
That is what all of the other posts are describing.
But that doesn't have anything to do with 'web' or 'activex'. Unless you are looking for a version control system that is available from the web and does not need to support binary(activex) stuff. But that last seems a little odd since these days binary stuff is often used - word docs, icons, etc.

Print version for JSP pages

Hi,
I have the following requirement. I have a site consisting of JSP pages. I need to provide a print version for every page.
The problem is, while printing, if a webpage spans for multiple printing pages, I need to put a footer on each of these pages. But, this footer must appear only once (at the bottom of the page).
How do I achieve this? any help will be greatly appreciated.

there is one work around for doing this... in order to print the header and footer...generate a dummy page with the exact format...

so when this is flushed to the printer....u would get every page formatted with Header and Footer as this is going to happen in the background...there willl be no pblm to users...

Printer friendly version of a jsp page

i have a results.jsp page that displays certain data in a table format.I also have a print button on this page, which on clicking should bring up a new page with all teh data in the results page and should be printer friendly.How do I accomplish this.

CR for Eclipse version 2.0.1 Report JSP page display problem

I create report and Report viewer JSP page. When i run JSP page I meet with this [screen|http://www.sendspace.com/file/r2ys55]. When I select print preview the [screen|http://www.sendspace.com/file/4661oa] like this.
I use CR for Eclipse all in one pack 2.0.1.
Anyone know what is the problem ?

Yes, we are. We have to set the password unless there is a way to save the password in the report. The CR designer always asks for the password. Is there away to save the password in the report from the designer?

How to get the value from a database without submitting a jsp page

I have a jsp which has a text box depending on the value entered I want to get the value from a database for other two fields with out submitting jsp page. I am using struts.

The application is roles-based, and different users see different versions of the same page based on their role authorizations. Problem with displaying BLOB images on JSP page using a servlet

hi. I have a big problem with displaying BLOB images using JSP. I have a servlet that connects to the oracle database, gets a BLOB image , reads it, and then displays it using a BinaryStream. The problem is , this works only when i directly call that servlet, that is http://localhost:8080/ImageServlet. It doesn't work when i try to use that servlet to display my image on my JSP page (my JSP page displays only a broken-image icon ) I tried several coding approaches with my servlet (used both Blob and BLOB objects), and they work just fine as long as i display images explicitly using only the servlet.
Here's what i use : ORACLE 10g XE , Eclipse 3.1.2, Tomcat 5.5.16 , JDK 1.5

I turns out that it wasn't that big of a problem after all. All i had to do was to take the above code and place it into another JSP page instead of into a servlet like i did before. Then i just used that page as a source for my IMG tag in my first JSP. It works perfectly well. Why this doesn't work for servlets i still don't know, but it's not a problem form me anymore . Ofcourse if someone knows the answer , go ahead and write. I would still appriceatte it.

Conditionally opening a new browser window from a JSP page

When the user clicks on a button in my JSP page, I'd like to launch a new browser and display certain things in that browser window while leaving the original browser window open. The new browser should only be displayed if certain conditions are met.
My thought was to invoke a javascript method in 'onLoad' which would determine if the new window needs to be launched.
This is kinda what my page looks like:

My problem is that the call to "Configuration.openWindow()" does not resolve correctly. If I remove that call and simply make a call to "window.open()" all works. But once I put the condition in, nothing happens. I do not see an exception in my browser window but a new browser window does not open.
Is my syntax correct. Can I make a call to the static method 'openWindow()' in my class 'Configuration.java'.
I posted this same query on the JSF forum but received now replies. My question is more suited to the JSP forum and hence I'm posting this question here.

I have made some changes so that I do not directly access the 'Configuration' class in my javascript.
I have a hidden field on my form and when the user clicks the button, in my back bean, I set a value for the hidden field. In the javascript function 'launchWindow()' I check if a value has been set for the hidden field and if yes, I open a new window.

Can I create multiple instances of realplayer plug-in in one jsp page?

I want to play meny video files in one jsp web page, these video files are to be played with the embeded plug-in of realplayer, each plug-in was linked(use its SRC property) a different video file. But, to my surprise, when I press the play button, every player played the same video file,not its specified file.
I have no idea why it did so and what can I do?
Whether can I create multiple instances of realplayer plug-in in one jsp page, that is to say, each instance is independent of others?

Generally speaking, Internet Explorer tries not to launch multiple versions of a plug-in. So what's happening is that you load the first video clip, and then before it has a chance to play, you load the second video clip into the same window. (It's like changing songs in WMA.)
In some cases - this may not work for Real Player, but it's worth trying - if you spawn a new window through a hypertext link and then launch the plug-in in that window, IE will treat it separately. Otherwise, you could not, for example, run two Macromedia Flash applications from different web sites at the same time.
Keep in mind that only one program can access the soundcard at a time, so Real Player may purposely "pause" or "cancel" other video streams until the active one finishes. If you were using the desktop version, selecting another video by any means aborts the currently running video (i.e., RP won't let you create a separate instance of it).
The easiest solution is to create a wrapper JSP file that takes the name of the video clip, and plays it. Call that JSP and specify that it should be opened in a new window via the TARGET keyword in the anchor tag. Then hopefully RP itself won't block a second window from running.

How to use List String in JSP page?

I am having problem using List<String> in my JSP page. Below is my JSP code.

When I compile the above JSP code in Eclipse 3.4 (using JBoss 4.2 as my Application Server), I get the following Warning.
Type safety: Unchecked cast from Enumeration to Enumeration<String>
If I add the "@SuppressWarnings("unchecked")" to the code, Eclipse does not give any Error during compilation. But, at runtime, I get the following Error.

Syntax error, annotations are only available if source level is 5.0

1) Goto javazoom.com, then download latest version for upload the files.
2) Extract the zip & thay giving four jar files
they are:
i)uploadbean.jar
ii)struts.jar
iii)fileupload.jar
iv)cos.jar
put all this jar in lib of u r web application
ex:
C:\jakarta-tomcat-5.0.25\webapps\URWEBAPP\WEB-INF\lib\
3) Set it in class path
4) create one jsp with file option<input type='file' name = 'somename'>
5) In action page(next page)
