Versioning capabilities in ESR ??

What extent of versioning capability are provided in ESR?? like
1. Is there a way to represent that the service will be depricated in the near future? (So that the consumers are aware of it & don't consume the same)
2. Support for Multiple cuncurrent versions of a WSDL file? (Versioning of WSDL files??)

>> There is no one answer to that question. It really depends on your internal landscape and TCO. Since ESR is a design time system, you can imagine a ESR in each of your DEV, CONS and a TEST system. Currently there's out of the box options to connect ESR to transport systems (like CMS) to faciliate such a landscape. You can also have one ESR for your entire landscape/.
4. How can Service governance be acheived in ESR? Only when the service passes all testing phases (like load test, regression test, service availability) only then the service has to be passed across to PRD.

Looking for a way to tell if installed Flash Player version is ESR or not.
We push out latest versions of Flash Player to the enterprise using a patching management suite. Every time a flash patch goes out, it rolls over (and updates) our computers that have a need to run the Flash ESR branch. Is there a registry key or specific file in the file system that indicates that the Flash Player version installed is the ESR branch and not the latest branch?
Hi Adam,
The way to identify if the version installed is ESR or not is by the major version number, which is '13' at this, whereas the current version is '14'.
The Flash Player files themselves have the version number in the file name. The files are located in \Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and \Windows\SysWow64\Macromed\Flash (if you have 64-bit OS). On Mac, the version number is in the Flash Player.Plugin Info.plist file.
For registry entries, Flash Player creates the following entries with version number:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerActiveX > Version
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin > Version
If on 64-bit OS, additional entries are created in the Wow64Node for the 32-bit player version (since both 32- and 64-bit versions of Flash Player are installed on 64-bit OS).

XP pro and numerous firefox add ons. will I have to remove the current version of firefox esr to install the latest firefox "public" version? and the add ons too?
You can just update Firefox, via <code>Help > About</code>

Hello,
When I try to install the client on the site server itself it gives me this error message and fails the ccmsetup. I only have this on the site server. Clients to other servers and computers are pushed fine. If I check the version of the MP it says 5.00.7958.1000
in ADSI. I removed the MP object in CN=System, CN=System Management. Waited for it to be regenerated automatically by SCCM but the installation doesn't work still.
I tried to install with several methods including directly from ccmsetup.exe in ccmsetup folder, pushing by sccm itself, running from commandline, ...
I run SCCM 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and the database on SQL 2008 on Server 2008 R2

That doesn't make sense and aren't valid reasons for 2012 (not that you can necessarily change it now).
This line jumps out at me in the log file though: "An MP exists on this machine".
That looks like the system you are installing on previously had an MP on it. I would delete the ccm namespace in WMI, cleanup all reference to ccm and Configuratin Manager from the registry, and then try again.

When will the next ESR release be available?
Hi - I am writing some GUI based code and plan to release towards the end of the year. I imagine that a new FF ESR will be available by then. When will the new version of FF ESR be available so I can try and ensure that we test our GUIs using it? Thanks in advance!
Fhello Dubrovsky, the next major ESR version will be firefox 31, which is going to be released on july 22nd. automatic updates for ESR users on the current 24-brach to 31 will be starting mid-october.

Bought Pro 3 weeks ago - If I upgrade I lose Pro capabilities? Can't be.

ESR - How do you import standard SAP Models

We've recently upgraded to PI 7.1 and I'm looking to model some integration scenarios.
I have been reading the following help

Under the section - Modeling Guide for model types in the ES Repository - there is the following note
Finally, the different models are a good way of documenting the whole process of an application and make it easier to enhance software later.

SAP already works internally with the modeling environment, including a unification and standardization process (Governance Process), to increase the level of reusability. SAP delivers the models that were produced by this process as ESR content to aid the understanding of the SAP application.

After the upgrade, if you drill down the SAP Standard Software Component Versions in the ESR you'll notice some of the models that SAP shipped with the upgrade. You can start looking at those to get a good idea of how SAP has used them.
The other alternative is that if you import XI Content from Service Marketplace that you migh require for building Enterprise Services for a specific scenario you may have, SAP Models used to produce that Enterprise Service/s are shipped with the XI content. You can browse through those as well.

ILife integration seeing versions?
I am a recent user of the trial version of Aperture 1.5. I am excited about the recent integration with iLife and so wanted to try it out.
iMovie can see my aperture library fine, but it only sees master images or edits I make to the master image. If I create new versions from the master and then edit those, they do not show up in iMovie's media browser. The same goes with iWork and iWeb.
I know I can drag and drop, but I do not want to always want to be forced to open aperture. But I suppose that isn't a huge problem.
I prefer aperture over Adobe Lightroom because of its versioning capabilities and integration with iLife.
Is there anyway to get iLife to see my versions as well as masters?

I believe this is what you need to do (but I won't know until later today).
When you edit a master, it creates a version within a stack, but the stack pick remains the master. I believe it is the stack pick that is displayed in the iLifde media browser .... makes sense, yes.
So, go through your stack, and promote your adjusted versions to be the stack picks.
Also, make sure you generate Previews, since it is the previews that appear in the Media Browser.

I frequently install Firefox for others with the goal of having a secondary browser, a simpler browser, a more stable browser, and/or a safer browser(with NoScript) than IE. Many are confused by constant updates moving buttons around and new settings blocking access to their common websites, so I choose to use the ESR version. It has always been more difficult to find, but it has gotten nearly impossible now without hitting ftp.

It IS available to the public, it is just targeted towards Enterprise and other IT manage users in mind as the public would normally use the Release builds from mozilla.org
That faq page was written before or during Firefox 10.0 ESR version as Firefox 10.0 was the first Release version used for ESR channel and Mozilla never really intended The ESR to be used by regular users in mind then though nothing states that regular users could not use it. -

I wish to know the effectiveness of iFS versioning APIs. Do they

As an SCCM admin, its my job to patch versions of flash as quickly as possible. Now that Flash catalogs are available for down load, and importable into SCUP for SCCM, that makes my job somewhat easier. I am hoping some general questions and assumptions on my part, can be answered here as to how I proceed in my enterprise, so here I go. People may already know this, but SCCM is Microsofts tool to do enterprise deployments, patching, and asset management. SCUP is Systems Center Update Publisher, and allows you to import or create 3rd party updates, that roll into SCCM and get deployed.
I have been able to deploy Adobe Flash 10.1.85.3 using SCCM and SCUP, but I had some questions around patching, full installs and older versions:
Since no machines in my test had the bad version of 10 (included in the cab but expired) initially no machines NEEDED the install.
I installed a BAD/OLD version of 10 and then the SCUP scan detected a need
After the certs and GPO's were in place on clients, scan and install worked great!
I want to focus on Flash 9 since that's what's in our image:
I assume that some (or the last) of Flash 9 is 'safe'
How can I get an old Flash cab, to setup the proper compliancy check, or do I modify the latest supported version of Flash rules to update 9 to 10?
Can version 9 be updated to version 10!?

The way to identify if the version installed is ESR or not is by the major version number, which is '13' at this, whereas the current version is '14'.
The Flash Player files themselves have the version number in the file name. The files are located in \Windows\System32\Macromed\Flash and \Windows\SysWow64\Macromed\Flash (if you have 64-bit OS). On Mac, the version number is in the Flash Player.Plugin Info.plist file.
For registry entries, Flash Player creates the following entries with version number:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerActiveX > Version
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Macromedia\FlashPlayerPlugin > Version
If on 64-bit OS, additional entries are created in the Wow64Node for the 32-bit player version (since both 32- and 64-bit versions of Flash Player are installed on 64-bit OS).

TIA, SreedharThe best place to start is with the javadoc. The 'versioning objects' are Family, VersionSeries (VS) & VersionDescription (VD).
Start off with the example that you're versioning a Document (which is a subclass of a PublicObject). There will be one Family object and one VS. A future enhancement will support multiple VS per family. For each version, there will be one VD and one Doc.
