Vhd mount failure in windows 8 after expanding it

after expanding the fixed vhd,
I could not mount the drive via disk manager action so I tried the vhdmount form virstual server2005 which I used in the past on the vhd in batch files. I got the foolowing message
The Virtual Hard Disk is successfully plugged in as a virtual disk device. However, not all the volumes on the disk were successfully mounted. Use Disk Manager to mount the volumes.
what can I do to dix the problem?

I am not sure how you get virtual server 2005 to run, but if you have a hyper-v vhd file, you can ask at http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windowsserver/en-US/home?forum=winserverhyperv.

  • S440 and S540 Hinge Mount Failures - Not in warranty after 1 year

My first experience with Lenovo is very bad.
After 1 year, my Thinkpad S540 seems to have hinge problems. I have 3 years warranty.
I contacted italian support and they said it is not a defect recognized on this model.
So I said: If lenovo builds only one notebook with a defect, this is not taken into consideration? Warran I think it's really disrespectful to their customers.
My company is a retailer of computer services and I think that we will not more offer Lenovo to our customer.
3/9/15 EDIT: Added S440 posts to the discussion. Amy_Lenovo

I'm still trying to figure this out with Lenovo.
Now you are allready the third person with same problem!
At this point they really must admit It is their design flaw.
First I complied to the Finnish service company (PCHELP). They kindly made a customer complain to Lenovo for me.
Here is the email I received from Lenovo EMEA Complaint Management:
    "Dear Mr. Pajunen,
Your formal complaint has been escalated to our team for a resolution.
I have been investigating the background of your case and I have received the information regarding your unit from our technical support team a while ago.
I regret to inform you, that the CID (customer induced damaged) was confirmed by depot engineers.
The machine was assembled properly, so the damage could not be caused by the quality issue.
The analysis output is, that this damage was caused by usage in a way exceeding the design assumptions.
Machine still can be fixed, but only on your costs as a billable repair.
You can always find the warranty terms and conditions here for your reference:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/guides-and-manuals/detail.page?DocID=UM008281
I hope you find this explanation helpful.
Thank you for understanding and cooperation.
    Kind regards,
    Marek Krajca"
Funniest part was this: "The machine was assembled properly, so the damage could not be caused by the quality issue."
    And I replied:
"Well, I can not agree with your depot engineers.
The first time the computer was in service (same problem, within the warranty), the depot engineers informed me the problem was the adhesive attachment inside the hinge and cover of screen that had failed to keep all the pieces together.
Now your people are telling me that I have caused the damage!
If some issue comes up more than once, I would say it definitely is a design flaw.
    Here is THE SAME ISSUE:
    https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/S-Series-ThinkPads-ThinkPad-Yoga/S540-Hinge-not-in-warranty-after-1-year/m-p/2015855/highlight/true#M8929
It doesn't mean much that: "The machine was assembled properly, so the damage could not be caused by the quality issue.", if the design of the machine is impermanent, it is solely a quality issue in my opinion.
My assumption for the design of a laptop includes opening and closing the lid in normal manner for several years, not half a year at a time!
As there clearly is a flaw in the design of the computer, the company MUST admit it if they are going to be in business for longer period of time.
These so called depot engineers need to explain me how I have exeeded the desing assumptions, and prove it.
This hinge failed the second time allready, as only thing I did was opening the lid!
Do they think I am so stupid I cannot properly open a laptop?
If that is too much to achieve from Lenovo, in +1000 euro computer, I'm just greatly disappointed.
I've used many IBM's ThinkPad's and they have worked for years without any hinge problems!
If Lenovo can't admit their mistakes in the design, I will definitely not be recommending Lenovo product for anybody.
If they do, I would love to recommend Lenovo as their customer support is awesome.
    Kind regards from Finland"
So they ask me in the service company to either pay:
    550€ for the LCD assembly
    70€ for the LCD Cover
    OR
175€ for estimation! (how long did the worker really look at this damage? 5 minutes?)
    2x 33€ for transportation
(24% TAX NOT INCLUDED in anything in a very 'murican manner)
So most likely I just order my computer back, and try to fix the hinge myself.
This situation is totally absurd, I feel ripped off by Lenovo.
We buy a +1000€ computer from them, and what do we get?
Thank you for coming forward with this issue.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
    Open an Elevated Command Prompt.
Type in ( or just copy and paste ) the following command ( including spaces ) and hit enter.
    Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
This will take a while to complete, but when it’s finished, restart the notebook.
Let windows fully load, then once again, open an elevated command prompt, then enter the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Restart the notebook then try upgrading to 8.1 again.

We do need the actual DMP file as they contain the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.
We prefer at least 2 DMP files to spot trends and confirm the cause.
Please follow our instructions for finding and uploading the files we need to help you fix your computer. They can be found here

  • ADF: Tree Refresh after Expanding a node. Please Frank have a look!

    About this post:
Re: ADF: Tree Refresh after Expanding a node
Frank answered that he doesn't notice that behavior. I found out that this happens if an appication uses a custom skin.
In SRDemoSampleADFBC, SRManage.jspx (Management from menu), if you make the explorer window small enough not to cover the whole tree, you can notice this (the page jumps to the top).
Now if you change in adf-faces-config.xml the "skin-family" tag to "oracle", you will see that the tree component has changed (it has no triangle icons why this happens) and the page doesn't refresh.
    Minas

It seems that there's more to the tree expansion icon than the skin definition. We're using the minimal skin and ADF puts out a special character to represent the disclosure symbol (which by the way, renders differently on IE6, than IE7, than Safari or Firefox on Mac). However, switching to the Oracle skin, the disclosure symbol comes out as a full-on image (triangle including the +). We have found this frustrating because the triangles seem not sufficiently suggestive to our users - but switching to the Oracle skin has other issues with white-on-white text.
But in any case, the tree refresh after node expansion is another annoyance as I described in the other thread linked here (including URL to see problem in action).
    Cheers, Mark

  • Premiere Elements 9 window disappears after loading project

    Hello all,
I've been having issues with Premiere Elements (9) lately. I have read other threads similar to my problem and followed some of the instructions (deleting the Pref file, for example).
Whenever I open a specific project (that has worked before until recently), the loading progess bar goes from 0-100 and then it stays there. After that, the entire program disappears. It doesn't crash (as it's still in the task bar), but when I click on PrE9, nothing comes up. When I mouse-over the icon on the task bar, it's just the window buttons (minimize, expand, exit).
The reason I started this thread is because none of the problems I found were really similar to mine.
Any help would be much appreciated.
(Also, please pardon me if this thread is in the wrong place.)
    Thanks!

    Unitedmoviemaker
Have you looked at any possible involvement of the antivirus program in the way of recent updates for it? Recent Windows Updates? Can we assumed that you have not added, subtracted any programs that would coincide with the onset of the issue?
Have you checked to make sure that your video card is up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the video card?
Recently, with Premiere Elements 10 and NVIDIA video card, answers have come from rolling back the driver.
I guess you tried the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file deletion. But, did you try deleting the whole 9.0 Folder in which the Adobe Premiere Elements Prefs file exists?
Do you have the Premiere Elements 9 installation disc for installations files in case a deactivation, uninstall, run through of ccleaner, reinstall is indicated?
But, let me backup for a moment. Is this issue confined to one previously created project or to all your Premiere Elements projects either new or old?
Let us start here and then move forward according to your answers.
    Thanks.

  • Getting Windows Login after Novell

I have been using XP Pro and ZEN 4 for several years with a Dynamic User
Policy so ZEN creates and manages the local XP accounts (non-volatile).
This have always works prefectly. Now all of a sudden I am having many
computers on campus prompting for a windows login after the user logins to
    the Novell client.
I have not changed client version (4.90), have not done any changes or
Service packs to my Netware servers. Have not done anything to change the
    configuration on the XP clients.
There is one big thing that happened about a week ago (probably about the
time this started poping up) the server with our Master Replica has a
massive hardware failure and I had to promote a Read/Write replica to
Master and remove the crashed server from Tree. This seemed to go fine,
    not errors, NDS "seems" happy.
If a user reboots computer 2,3 or 4 times it eventually will let them in
without the Windows login. It is like the policy is not getting read all
    the time.
Any advice or ideas would be so greatly appreciated!!!! I am one person
managing the entire school and a problem like this really consumes me.
    Thanks! Pete

  • G580 failure configuring Windows updates

I'm helping a friend to sort out his G580 laptop which he has been unable to use because of the Windows 8 interface. I've been trying to install the Windows 8.1 update but it tells me I need to run Windows update first. When I do this and it restarts, after about 15 to 16% of configuring Windows updates, it says failure configuring Windows updates, reboots several times, and after a while it's back where it started. I've seen the article saying that this is caused by Nitro PDF, so I removed that, but the problem still occurs. I've also tried all the suggestions that Microsoft makes, ie run Windows update troubleshooter, do a clean boot, do a system restore, but it makes no difference. Can anyone suggest anything else? Is it possible to get a Windows 7 recovery disk and use that, or is there no license to use it with this laptop? I'm seriously considering installing Linux as this laptop is more or less useless as it stands.

    hi beachmat,
    Can you try the following:
    1. Download and run the Windows 8.1 Upgrade Assistant
        - this will check compatilibty with apps that are installed on the PC.
    2. Take a look at this Windows 8.1 Upgrade Guide by Lenovo
       - check if you have the apps that are listed on the "Applications that are recommended to be uninstalled before upgrading"
       - uninstall the apps if necessary
If you still get errors after installing Windows Update prior to installing Win8.1, try to install the Windows Update one by one (oldest ones first) and observe.

  • Stuck in "Failure configuring Windows Updates: reverting changes" loading loop

I just bought a new Asus notebook with Windows 8 today. I wanted to upgrade to Windows 8.1, so I had to first go through with all other updates. When the minor updates got to 98% the computer changed to the "Failure Configuring Windows Updates Reverting
Changes" screen. It has been on this same loading screen for several hours now. I have tried restarting the computer multiple times. I have looked up several troubleshooting videos and guides, but everyone else seems to have been able to leave the loading
screen and fix the problem in the actual working computer. I am still stuck in the loading... loading... loading screen. What do I do to get back to the home page? Or anything just to fix the problem.

    Kayla,
Thank you a 100 times! Being hooked through a modem to my network, as opposed to a direct link, was EXACTLY the problem.
After wasting 2 hours in the other sections of this forum through numerous threads of the same issues (with the same cut and paste answers by support engineers) it was just that simple. Bam! 5 minutes all better.
What alarms me is that not one of the dozens of posts i read through did an Engineer ever ask if they were hooked through wifi or a router. Even Dell's hideous support center will go through the basics first before launching into the hoop jumping.
Again bless you. If I could I'd buy you a drink, or cookies, whichever you prefer :)

  • Let ff auto delete file from c:windows\temp after download?

Say you download a rar file. firefox builds the file first in C:\windows\temp as it download to completion. Then FF COPIES this file to the destination folder which could be on another drive. BUT FF never deletes this temp-file in c:windows\temp after copying. And you can NOT delete this file temp-file until you close FF. Deleting browser history temp files using ctrl-shift-del does not work.
    Why is this?
Say I download many rar files at once. After each file completes firefox cCOPIES them to the destintaion directory. Again they go to another drive. BUT FF never deletes the temp-files form c:\windows\temp after completion of download and copying to the destintaion folder. UNLESS you close firefox.
Meanwhile this can clog up my small SSD drive which is only 20GiB
    Need workaround please?

OK you developers are such autistic a**holes. I just tried to manually delete the temp files FF makes when downloading files from c:\windows\temp. This did not free up space there's still the same amount of space left (163MB) on my SSD as before deleting the tempfiles form this dir. WTF is this?

  • OBIEE 11g after expand Hierarchy Columns move the page to where the expand was clicked

    Hi,
I have a question about expanding the hierarchy columns.
I have made so that some information are only show when press the + sign to expand extra information.
The problem I am having is that when the + sign is pressed to expand the content, the whole page get refresh and move back to the top of the page.
Is there a way to stay where the screen was after expanding, instead of going back to the top of page?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Niraj,
I think you are on 11.1.1.5 + version here. Now, that you have two security realms configured (one for AD and one default), please add one more parameter virtualize = true in the EM (just the page where you added user.name etc).
This parameter would help BI Server recognize the two realms set up here.
    Hope this helps.
    Thank you,
    Dhar

  • I am having a problem with very slow start up after expanding RAM on my 2009 Mac Pro.

I am having a problem with very slow start up after expanding RAM on my 2009 Mac Pro (8 Core 2.93GHz). When I run the Mac Pro with 2 x 2Gb RAM it takes 4 seconds before the gray screen, chime and spinning wheel appear. However when I expand the RAM to 20GB the grey screen and chimes appear after a long 20+ second black screen.
    The RAM modules are paored  2 x 4GB Crucial CT51272BA1339.M18FMR and  6 x 2GB SAMSUNG M391B5673FH0-CH9, all DDR3 ECC.
Reading articles on the internet, I thought it may be damaged RAM modules, but I have completed memtest and all are okay. I have tried changing the pairs around and if I use any paired 2 modules the Mac Pro starts normally, only when I try running more than 2 modules the delayed start up happens. (black screen 20 Seconds)
I also have tried PRAM and SMU resets after changing the RAM setups, and the issues always occurs when I have more than 2 modules. As you can see I have 6 SAMSUNG modules and even with identical modules the issue happens, when increasing the RAM to more than 2 modules.
The Mac Pro runs fine after the start up screen and can see all the modules, but has anyone else come across this issue, or have any ideas as to why my Mac Pro is taking 20 seconds to start up with 20 GB RAM?

Hi there. Thanks for your comments.
I have tried all the different combinations of RAM setup, and as stated in my initial topic, the Mac Pro boot up time only slows when I have more that 2 modules. Where I place these does not seem to make a difference.
I have taken the Mac Pro to an Apple Reseller technician yesterday and they where not able to find any RAM errors. Apparently the boot up time is within Apple's acceptable parameters for this set up.
Could anyone that is running a Mac Pro 2009 with more that 4 modules of RAM, please let me know if the boot up time is normal. ( the time it takes from pressing the power button to seeing the gray screen around 16 - 20 seconds)
Or is anyone else having the same issues?
    thanks for your responce
