Video conferenceing: How to join Polycom users

My colleagues in the U.S. and New Zealand are having video conferences using Polycom software on PCs. This software cannot work on Macs.
Is there a workaround to use anything from OS 10.6 like iChat to join in? How to do it?

Ok, using Xmeeting freeware I can see my remote friend via the Polycom but he cannot see me. We can hear each other. I connected using his Polycom IP address.
I am not able to turn on my Mac Book Pro iSight camera with it. There is no help on this s/w.
Are you up on any videoconferencing topics? Any help with this?
When I set up Xmeeting I was asked to input this:
Bandwidth limit 512 kbit/sec (can go up to 768)
Enable H.323 and SIP Protocols checked
No Gatekeeper checked
No Registrar checked (acc. to Xmeeting this is required for SIP but I did not know how to fill it out: Reg. Domain, User Name, Authorization Name, Password)
On my Mac, Skype and iChat turn on the video camera but when I switch to Xmeeting it turns off.
The Xmeeting Video Input Preferences has “Live Camera Module” enabled and Preferred Video Input Device set as “<Use first available>”. Still Image Module and Screen Module are not enabled.

    I'd like to make a little blur just where the two videos join in the middle... is this possible?

    Aha that kind of blending.
    Have not used 6.5 in a loooooooong time.
    So this is from memory, hope i get this right.
    Set the two clip on top of each other
    Make a matte in Photoshop and superimpose this over the two clips.
    Go to the Transparancy Settings and set the top clip in video 2 to Alpha key.

    Adobe has made this process much simpler in recent years.
    No need to re-install any version earlier than the current version (CS6). All installers (upgrade or full) contain the full program code. The difference between full and upgrade is in the serial number.
    All you need do is download (link below) and install CS6, enter the CS6 upgrade serial number then enter the CS5 serial number (even if that too is an upgrade).

    Before you follow these instructions...... I'm a rank amateur so I'd check to see if the smart kids have corrected my errors or improved on the method in the replies below
    The reason for the post is I have good and established local user accounts on all the computers and moving them to domain controlled accounts is the one topic I could not find a script to follow that worked for my low level of knowledge of OS X.
    Let me first explain my setup and needs. I'm replacing a Windows Home Server (WHS) with the Mac Mini Server. My goal was to have the Mac Mini as the server holding all our photos, data, etc. and running a user account to run the family iTunes account to feed the Apple TV and be the backup / sync point for a family sized set of iPod Touches, iPads and iPhones. I want to be able to log into each mac and have the same information setting, links, etc........ basically walk around the house, find any mac shaped device not used by someone else, log in and carry on where I was before -  with the MacBook Air having a portable account so it can come travelling with us.
    The key hardware is...
    Mac Mini Server running Snow Leopard 10.6.8
    Apple TV
    2 x iMac Running Lion 10.7.1 [upgraded from 10.6.8]
    MacBook Air running Lion 10.7.1 [upgraded from 10.6.8]
    Normal stuff like wifi, hubs and a router doing the DHCP (and for me reserving IP addresses based on the 'MAC Address' to save me having to manually configure all the IP addresses)
    Key Resources I used as I learnt how to do this; to level set you all, I'm a relative newcomer to OS X having had a Windows life with Linux for fun, so i'm not a mac or IT specialist but like to play around.
    Apple's podcast series 'Apple Quick Tour of Leopard Server'  - this is great, it informed me and kept me motivated through all the bah moments, all 33 episodes and it's in the iTunes store as a podcast.
    The book 'Mac OS X Snow Leopard Server For Dummies' - I bought this about half way through the whole process and wish i'd bought it earlier, my reccomendation would be get the Kindle version so you can search it for advice.

    Right off we go....
    Setting up the Server [this took me 6 goes to get it right as I learnt a little each time].
    So i'm not going to go through this step by step because it in the 'dummies' book and the videos from Apple above and those will be better than anything I write but here's my details/advice.
    I split the primary disc into 2 partitions using disk utility so I could reformat the operating system without moving my data.
    100GB for the OS X system
    400GB for user data
    Install OS X from the DVD, press the buttons based on your desires but stop at the bit about naming you computer titled Network Names
    READ UP ON DNS  - this one of the reason I had so many goes as it was the 1st time i've set up a server like this using DNS and guessing didn't get me there.
    If you don't have one buy a domain name for your network it make it much easier in the long run & is $10 well spent
    The name needs to be [the computer name].[your domain name].[com or net or org, etc]
    So if you want you computer to be called fred and you bought or have the domain location.com enter fred.location.com in the primary DNS name box
    This shoud automatically put fred in the computer name box.
    Follow along with the set up guide to finish
    After you have finished the set up test the DNS with NSLOOKUP in a terminal window
    nslookup fred.location.com    in my example and you should get the IP
    Add your servers IP address to the list of DNS servers in network preferences on the client mac.
    Bind [link] the client computers to the server in Accounts on the client computer - I used the 'dummies' book for this but there's lots of data on the web.
    Clean up the user profile on the client to reduce the size of the Home folder as much as possible or the data transfer is loooooooonnnnng - i also connect the iMac on a cable rather than wifi to speed it up.
    Read Joe's post http://joeferrante.net/how-to-migrate-local-user-account-to-network-user-account -with-networked-home-folder-on-snow-leopard-server/ and follow along.useful info I learnt somewhere - to get the paths to the folders correct in the terminal window go to the folder in Finder and then drag it to the terminal window and let go - this will put the correct link in the instruction.
    You now need to be on a terminal window on your server, with a finder window open and logged into the client as the user you are moving
    THE CLIENT COMPUTER NEEDS TO BE LOGGED OUT or logged in as a different user than the one you're trying to move.
    so when you're at the right point - type sudo cp -R then hit the space bar, drag the existing user folder onto the finder window, add the /* and hit space then find the users folder on the server and drag that onto the terminal window to complete the instruction.
    Hit enter and wait a while assuming it starts ok - i used network traffic on the Activity Monitor utility to check if it was working.
    If you got this far and it all worked - login to the profle you moved on any computer linked to the server or the server but not the original client computer to see if it worked and all your setting and data are intact and then delete the profile off the original client if it was ok [archiving the home directory took ages for me].
    As you can probably guess most of this was good learning for me and it worked successfully for me in the end, moving all my history, saved password, etc, etc without any problems.
    Hope this helps other in the same situation & feel free to expand or correct this if I've missed anything.

  • Video KB -- How Do I?

    A project I have been working on in my spare time is to make videos about how to do simple tasks that my customers continually ask.
    Recently it was pointed out to me, it would be a good idea to share this project here in the IronPort Community forums.
    www.videokb.com is a web site I have built that has a number of videos on the WSA and how to do thing.

    All videos have a link under them so you can share the content without the person having to dig around and find it. Most videos are 5 minutes in length, however as you will see from the Introduction to Access policies for the WSA, it takes a lot longer. I am slowly adding more indepth videos as time permits.
    This project is a work in progress, things I have planned in the future are:
    1. Enable anyone to add videos and mange them, current you can only add videos.
    2. Create more channels around Cisco products
    3. Inprove the layout of each of the product tabs and the videos under them
    4. Add the search functionaility
    5. Let users register with the site as part of the video management feature
    6. Create a public twitter account that people can follow and have the site publish to the twitter account when new content is available.
    7. Provide a method to rate the videos
    8. Provide a method to give feedback.
    Anyway, I hope the site helps, I know it has saved me retyping the same answer over and over as the common questions get asked.

    Connect the phone to the computer. Once it recognizes it is there and Autoplay opens, click on Open Folder to View files. This will open the folder that contains the photos/video files. If you can identify the one that is causing the problem, try and drag it to the desktop by itself. Also, not to judge you, but next time try and move them over a little more often. XP has a difficult time dealing with these files in large groups.

    Scenario: I want to migrate my servers to cloud and retire all local servers such as DC and file server. At the same time, I wish to control the network traffic to limit the clients access to Internet resources. I am not sure retiring the
    all local servers is something right to do and how to do.
    What I have done:
    1. Site-to-Site VPN connection with Dell Sonicwall TZ205 to VNet.     1. How to join the local computers to the virtual server domain controller with S2S and P2S VPN. (Some Internet resources mentioned I need to install Connect agent in order to do this)
    Extra questions:
    1. Is it possible to request the clients to provide account credentials before the point-to-site VPN to VNet is established ?
    2. How do I configure the TZ205 VPN router to send all the Internet traffic to the VNet instead of the ISP gateway? The computers connected to TZ205 firewall router public IP address doesn't change to the VNet gateway IP.

    I assume there is connectivity between on-prem device and DC on Azure VM.
    You can set the Internal IP of the DC as DNS on the on-prem device and trying joining it to the existing domain. Please note to use S2S VPN.
    It is not possible to provide user credentials while connecting to vNet via P2S VPN. It's a certificate based authentication (which is so by design).
    With regards to your query to send all internet traffic to vNet instead of ISP gateway. Please refer to Forced Tunneling:

You can do it in the RPD, in the web catalog (Edit Group -> Group Membership ==> The table below contains a list of the current members of this group. Users can join the group by entering the group's password from the Join Catalog Group screen, or you can manually add them by clicking Add New Member below.) or outside.

    My workflow looks like this:
    In the first step (user decision) Manager has to do something and when ready he presses Done and then some other activity ABC is executed and that´s all. If manager has not done it after XX days, WF has to send a reminder to manager and the reminder is of type user decision with Done or Cancel.
    If manager presses Done, then WF has to perform activity ABC. If manager has not done it after XX days, WF sends a 2nd. reminder and the reminder is of type user decision with Done or Cancel. Once again, if manager presses Done, then WF has to perform activity ABC.
    The problem is that the system has created another route far from the first route and in this second route there´s no activity ABC. I don´t want to create/copy the activity 2 times because of maintenance time. I try to join the exits marked as Done with the activity using the pencil of "fast block operation" but it doesn´t work. If I join the user decision with ABC, system asks me whether Copy or Move and this is precisely what I don´t want.
    How can I call activity ABC from 3 different user decisions ??

    that's why there's the modeled dealine option available.
    Let's assume that you have an activity X1, which precedes the activities A,B and C. On X1 you'd like to have a double escalation procedure.
    Set modeled deadline +X days on step X1.
    This gives you two new outcomes:
    - Step obsolete
    - Deadline reaches
    The outcome "step obsolete" continues the workflow within the same branch that the normal user decision did, that is, the next steps will be A,B,C.
    The outcome "deadline reached" will have a "dead end".
    Within that branch, create your user decision step X2 (and omit the second deadline monitoring for the moment).
    The outcome for "done": Create a new workflow step called "Control", select "Set step to obsolete" from the drop down box, and enter the Node# of decision step X1.
    This will end the thread from X2.
    X1 will continue from the outcome "Step obsolete", and it processes with A,B,C.
    A good idea to look the a good workflow book, that explains modeled deadline monitoring from another point of view, than what I could write in this short forum's message.

    Are you using query in SAP Business One or outside the system? If you select the tables in SAP Business One as OPCH and OPDN then no inner join will appear, as the links sit on the line level. You will need PCH1 and PDN1. The link can be found in both directions, but bear in mind that 1 AP Invoice could be based on more than 1 Goods Receipt PO. For this reason the best approach is to start at the AP Invoice line level and use the BaseType and BaseRef fields to view which lines were pulled from which Goods Receipt PO's.

    You need to create a user table within your application that maintains their privileges. If you have LDAP you could use this for authorisation otherwise the table would handle that as well (store passwords etc). Your reports etc would then be filtered on information from this table.
    Check out some of the sample applications to see how authorisation and access is implemented (Online store is one). The how-to on the issue tracking system should also have some useful pointers.

    This is what you're looking for, there's no real cook-book -- though Amey mentioned there might be some material on SDN, perhaps some tutorials.
    You should be looking into com.sap.security.api.IUserFactory, methods newUser(String) which gives you and IUserMaint and commitUser(IUserMaint, IUserAccount) -- IUserAccount can be obtained using com.sap.security.api.IUserAccountFactory, method newUserAccount(String)

    I created my users via UME ( User Management Engine of Java Application server). Unfortunately I used the wrong name convention, so I had to recreate all the users in UME. Afterwards I delete all wrong users in UME.
    Than I tried to login with my new user in SAP-CPS (users are normally created in SAP-CPS during first login) but I get the error message that I reached the maximum number of 10 users allowed in the basic version. No problem I thougt, I simply delete the wrong ones in SAP-CPS. But I do not know how to delete a user! I could not find any menu item or any describtion in the manualls how to delete an user in SAP-CPS.
    I remove the users from any Isolation group, I disabled all the users but still I could not find any way to delete them.
    Has any body a hint for mor.
