Video Conversations with PC

I found similar questions, but I still am not clear on this topic. How can an iMac have a video conversation with people using PC's?? (Without having to pay for AOL on their side {AIM}, or having to sign up with AOL or Javver on my side).

Hi,
AIM is actually free to use for both Mac and Windows PC.
(There's no need to sign up for the AOL service). You can register for an AIM screen name on this page. Once you have registered, ignore it when it asks you do download the AIM client. Instead, configure iChat with your new screen name.
As an alernative to iChat, you could use Skype, which is a free download for Mac and PC.
Both programs have their ins and outs. I would suggest trying both to see which one works best. I hope this helps!

Video Conversion with current version of VLC

Hello World.
So far I have found some tutorials about converting videos to the iPod nano (4th generation).
All of them were for old versions of the VLC media player.
As there have been major changes in the last VLC releases I was not able to transfer the "old" tutorial steps into the new VLC player.
Does anybody know how video conversion is done with the current VLC version?

Have you looked on VLC's Wiki page for any such tutorials?
If nothing else, I would try using another converter such as [MPEG Streamclip|http://www.squared5.com> or [Handbrake|http://handbrake.fr>. They are fairly easy to use and usually produce wonderful results.

Video conversion with hardware acceleration?

So I just got a macbook pro, and I am use to windows and hardware accelration when it comes to video converting, Nvidia Cuda and Intel QuickSync. I can't seem to find anything like the sort for Mac OSX no matter how much I look. Does anyone here know of software that supports AMD's equivilent of Cuda or Intel's QuickSync for fast conversions?

its not so much a space issue as a power issue, but space is a concern too. I suppose I was looking for a list of laptop compatible cs5 cards. I know that there are cards out there that are and it would be wonderful if adobe compiled a list like they have for standard video cards. And yes you are right, a lot of the video cards listed on that page also have mobile counterparts but are not always compatible since they use different drivers.
Does anyone have laptop experience with getting full hardware acceleration support?

I converted a bunch of my WMA, MPEG and AVI music video files using the new iTunes conversion software but it's extremely slow and has no audio. Anybody know why?

I can't have a video conversation with anyone! Someone help me please!

I go onto AIM and go to have a video convo and everytime it says I didnt respond and then gives me this code. I know the people I want to have a convo with have PCs but that shouldnt really matter as long as they have AIM and a webcam. Someone please help me and fast!

Video conversion with imTOO

After recently receiving my iPod video as a gift, I decided to try adding a few ripped DVDs to my iPod. Not surprisingly, it didn't accept the file type. I licked the "more info" button on the error message, and on the site that came up, I was told that the iPod accepts the MPEG-4 format. So I bought the imTOO file converter ($35) and proceeded to convert one of my movies to the mp4 format. This time to my surprise, it gave me the SAME error. What am I supposed to do now that it is in the correct video format yet still will not transfer from iTunes to iPod?

Am I to assume this is a secret?
Actually, it is now. Util recently, many people were under the impression that it was ok to rip DVD's so long as you'd bought the actual DVD.
Recently, the best and most used DVD ripping software was bought by an encryption company and shut down. Several other DVD rippers followed and it is now becoming increasingly difficult for people to get hold of one.
In the light of the publicity this aroused, people who had no wish to break any laws, became aware that it is a federal offence in the US and a crime in Europe to subvert encryption mechanisms, regardless of whether they bought a copy of the original DVD or not. Therefore, most people are now not interested in talking about this. Many people who turn up here complain that they can't find the software to do this and meet a wall of silence for this very reason.
However, this doesn't stop you from ripping the latest DVD of your cousin's holliday in Yosemite National Park.

DAM: video conversion alternatives to FlipFactory

my goal is to implement a video conversion solution using UCM+DAM.
As an alternative to FlipFactory i found info on how to configure and use FFMpeg (gpl license).
I have 2 questions:
- are there any alternative to FFMpeg?
- what are the limitations of FFMpeg versus FlipFactory?

Is my video conversation hacked?

Hi
I was having a video conversation with my gf and after that she has been getting random add requests from many people. This is scary because she never got any requests in the past and it started happening only after the video chat. I fear our conversation was hacked and recorded by some hacker. I also suspect that her machine was not completely secure as later when she tried to change her account information and privacy options, skype closed unexpectedly several times and changes didnt get saved. Although, she has an Antivirus installed and a complete scan yielded no suspicious virus/malware. I cant think of any other reason why a person at the other end of world is able to find her account.
I am really very scared that the video could be leaked on porn sites if it may have been recorded. Is there a way to ascertain this? Need help on this urgently.

no, most likely those were technical related problems, not signs of your account/calls/IMs is being hacked.

Issues with Video Conversion in N95 8GB

I purchased a N95 8 GB yesterday. I have been trying to get the video conversion to work with video manager
The conversion status tab do not go beyond 40% and it hungs there without any error message.
Has anyone faced similiar issues with video.
I used another convertor to convert the AVI file to mp4. But this file could not be played by N95 real player.
Are there any specification for conversion, for the video to play in N95.
Can anyone suggest on the best tool to convert video to MP4 and play in N95 ?

I cannot synch 24fps video footage with an audio .wav file. Is there a speed conversion factor?

I inadvertantly shot a video interview with a new camera (Panasonic HVX 200) set at 24fps. Because of that, the camera wasn't getting an audio signal from the microphone so in a panic, I hauled out my trusty old Zoom H4Nex digital audio recorder and captured it that way. Now I cannot synch up the audio and video in FCP CC (MAC OSX 10.9.2). Clearly, the audio file is about 25% longer than the video file, however, I cannot find the exact factor to change the audio speed to create lip synch. It always ends up a little short or a little long. If you will point out the error of my ways - I will promise to never do THIS again!

I was using (Panasonic HVX 200) had the frame rate set to 720 30pn.
However, the "scene file" mistakenly applied listed 24fps. Premiere Pro
thinks this footage is 29.97. Is it possible that it's actually 24fps and
that's why it's about 25% shorter than the corresponding .wav file? If so,
is there a way to "fool" Premiere Pro into slowing down the footage?
Unless I'm off the mark completely. It's been known to happen.......

How can I change the default video conversion applied when I copy an AVI file from my PC to my Android HTC One M8 phone?

Here's the situation...
I have an Android HTC One M8 phone which I connect via USB cable to my PC, then I use Windows Explorer to drag and drop an AVI file from my PC onto a target folder on the phone. When I would do this after I had first purchased my phone a message box
would come up with the heading "Convert and Copy" and ask me "Do you want to convert <filename> before it's copied to your device?" and give me the options "Yes, convert and copy (recommended)" or "No, just
copy Your file will be copied, but might not play on your device."
If I chose to convert it converted the file to MP4. No problem, that's what I wanted.
The problem I now have is that after doing some work with other video applications a while ago where I was outputting WMV files I now find that the default conversion for the above described copy from PC to Android phone now converts files to WMV.
I simply want it to go back to converting video files copied to my phone as MP4, but I can't seem to find where I can set this!
It appears that the copy/conversion process in Explorer is being handled in the "Portable Devices Shell Extension" dll - WPDSHEXT.DLL
Can anyone tell me what I need to do to set the default video conversion back to MP4 ???

I actually had no clue what the core problem was caused by. So it's Windows itself...that helps some.
I'll resubmit there. It might actually have saved time for it to simply have been moved to there instead of off-topic, though I suppose you have to follow protocol.

Is there a way to shorten iMovie video conversion ?

I am starting with a "m2ts" video file.
I purchased a video conversion program from the Mac App Store.   It is called “AnyVideo converter HD". It is well reviewed.
So, I dropped in my "m2ts" file. I set the conversion to "Computer MOV 720p HD". "AnyVideo converter HD" converted a 1 minute video in about 15 seconds to a "mov".   The converted file had excellent picture quality and sound, it played perfectly using QuickTime.
When I dropped this 60 second clip into iMovie 06 (set for 720p) it's conversion process took 35 minutes ?!?!   The result was flawless! However, a two-hour video conversion would not be complete until about the time Capt. Kirk joins Starfleet.
How can I speed this up ?

I did as you instructed and the situation is better but I don't believe it's solved.
I still get 3 versions of Photoshop when I right click on a PSD. I also get Dashcode and Textwrangler - which are the oddest associations. All together I get 25 apps responding to "Open With" on a PSD. And this is an improvement.
Do you think I would get even better results if I ran the same command again?

ZEN Vision M 30GB Video Conversion problem: black scr

My husband cannot display any video on his ZEN Vision M 30 GB. Any video converted comes over with ONLY audio, black screen (? no video display )This happened with the original firmware and software. I updated firmware and did all available software updates; no change. I had a previous ZEN Vision M 30GB, which did not have any problem with video conversion and display.Are there any known problems with specific Media Player versions, or QuickTime ?which may be a potential cause of this problem?( I have heard that this product works best with Media Player 9. )Anyone had similar problems, or have any ideas?Thanks,Ravenquille

How to convert/download videos embedded with cold fusion?

Does anyone know of a free video conversion software that will convert and download online videos embedded with cold fusion ("cfmid=?") format/extension? I tried a few online sites and they do not support that format yet. Please help. Thank you so much!

Actually COLD FUSION was a hoax a few years ago. COLDFUSION is the app.
If you need content from a web site, talk to the developer.
fwiw - Since ColdFusion is an Adobe app, you should try asking your question on that forum. This one is here to primarily support Shake.
