Video in video effect?

How do you make that effect when you're watching something and 2 or more video clips are being shown at once, with each being in their own frame? What is the easiest way to do this on FCP other than having to go through the motion tab and manually setting scale and center settings? Like is there a ready effect that does this for you? What about in Motion? Thanks

Using the motion tab you are only required to enter the scale and position (which you can drag manually in the canvas anyway) of the video channel to get the desired result, then add a border filter if you desire a border.
In a plug-in it would most likely have settings asking you to specify scale and position . . . with the possible inclusion of a border setting.
What would you really be simplifying ??? how can a plug-in "guess" what you want where and at what size with what colour border of what thickness ??
If its a set pattern you are after and use regularly why not create the sequence once then dupe it and replace footage or copy the settings from it and paste attributes to subsequent clips in other sequences.

  • Why does my video shows interlacing effects

I am importing HD videos from my Canon Legria HF200. On my user account the videos show interlacing effects, while on the other user account on the same iMac the videos are perfectly imported. We looked in preferences in order to find differences in settings but we could not find any.
I guess I modified a setting somewhere on my account which my partner did not on his.
I tried updating iMovie but it is already the most recent version (9.0.2).
I tried reinitializing the settings but could not find how to do it.
    Can anybody help?
    Thanks a lot!

You should check out this thread. It will explain why you are seeing interlacing in iMovie with the Legria HF200.

This is a known issue with all Canon Legria (PAL) camcorders. If you do a search with the term Legria, interlacing and iMovie you will find a number of threads.

  • Videos and special effects... (?)

Okay I just found these.. they are great! But I was wondering... is anyone else having issues when filming either backlit or in the snow?
My vids are... as best described... "mucky" looking!
Is there not an option to increase the contrast or to 'vivid color' saturate the look?
    Thanks...
===== and for those that do not know about the special effects: =====
Chapter 5 Using the Video Camera page:53
    Recording Video with Special Effects
You can record video with a variety of special effects on iPod nano.
Note: Video effects can only be selected before recording. iPod nano can’t add effects
to or remove effects from recorded videos. You can’t change video effects settings
    while recording.
To record video with special effects:
1 Choose Video Camera from the main menu.
2 Press and hold the Center button to display the video effects palette.
3 Use the Click Wheel to browse the effects, and press the Center button to select one.
The viewfinder screen appears with the selected effect.
4 Press the Center button again to start recording with video effects.
5 Press the Center button to stop recording.
If you exit the Video Camera screen to play back your video, video effects are turned
off. To resume recording with a video effect, repeat steps 2 through 4.

Okay, why am I the only one who couldn't figure out how to get Special Effects with my video camera? The User Manual instructions: see pg 7, which is correct and pg 53-54 seem to be written incompletely; and (as I read them) indicate that with "Video Camera" on the screen, the center black button should be held down, thus providing the choices of Special Effects. WRONG. What does provide the array of Special Effects, is to select Video Camera (with the black center button), opening the lens of the camera. Before recording begins, hold the center black button down until the Special Effects are displayed, THEN select one and begin recording with it by quickly depressing the black center button. To end, again depress the black center button.

  • Adobe Media Encoder (Pr CS4) encodes my videos without the effects of the plugins Genarts Sapp

    Hello,
My Adobe Media Encoder (Premiere CS4) encodes my videos without the effects of the plugins Genarts Sapphire. I did not have this problem with CS2 and also he encodes all other plugins.
Do you know why? I really need to solve this serious issue.
    Any help will be apprecieted,

OK, good. Go to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Premiere Pro\4.0 and look for two files called "Plugin Loading.log" and "Headless Plugin Loading.log" (without the quotes). These are just text documents, so open them up in Notepad or similar and compare the two; what you're looking for are references to your Sapphire plugins. What you'll probably find is that in "Plugin Loading.log", the plugins are loaded successfully--it will say something like "The plugin was successfully loaded from the registry."--whereas in "Headless Plugin Loading.log" the same plugin will be marked "The plugin is marked as Ignore, so it will not be loaded."
If you see that, let me know and I'll try to walk you through the steps of correcting it. If you like, I'd be happy to look at the log files; attach them to a reply here (they're small documents).

  • Problems importing iPhone 4 video into After Effects CS5 - Audio sync out

    Hi there,
I am currently experiencing problems trying to import iPhone 4 video into After Effects CS5.
Firstly i'd like to note that the video plays perfectly fine on the iPhone, VLC and in Quicktime Player. The audio and video is in sync.
When I add the footage to After Effects the video becomes slightly out of sync with the audio. I have noticed this in RAM preview and also in renders I did just to test.
I also want to note that, both my iPhone and After Effects have latest software updates.
    Thanks for your help

    Thanks Rick and Mylenium
    Thanks that worked!
I thought that changing the frame rate in the composition settings would have worked.
Instead what I should have done is to go the the footage in the Project Panel then right-click on the footage > Interpret Footage > Main... then Conform to frame rate: Frame rate: 23.986607 (or whatever more accurate frame rate your footage actually is)
I used the more accurate frame rate reading from VLC which went to 5 decimal places. I got that info from the top menu in Tools > Codec Information
Its a shame AE doesn't  pick up on the more accurate fps. It seems that all the videos from my iPhone 4 have slightly different frame rates and I guess I will have to interpret each clip properly.
I hear that the frame rate on the iPhone 4 is different depending on the lighting? I wonder why that would be the case?
Hope this helps anybody else that might face this problem.
    Cheers

  • How do I export a video from After Effects CC to an iPhone? I'm using a PC.

How do I export a video from After Effects CC to an iPhone? I'm using a PC.

Short answer, there is no simple "export to iPhone", but if you just want to have a movie that you can watch on you iPhone, just send yourself an attachment via email (other than .avi) and save it to your phone.
You can also use dropbox as an option.
With an app, you could mount your iPhone as an external drive. (check out iExplorer)
Also: check AME for h264 variations before you send it to yourself.  There are presets for iPhone compression.

  • How to fix choppy/wavy video using After Effects?

Here's the video, just in case my explanation doesn't do justice, Shou.tv/aesthete18. It's the 21:03 minutes one (You can rotate video on top right corner)
    Some details on the video:
The video on the site is recorded at 2mbps bitrate and 720p resolution. The max is 16mbps bitrate and 1080p resolution. Both have the same issues
    The problem:
When the character is walking, the video seems to be wavy, you can see the screen is kinda moving to the right. It's really hard to watch and hurts the eyes after awhile. I'm not sure if this has to do with bitrate or anything but I doubt it as a friend of mine did it in 8mbps without any issues, he's was pretty smooth.
What I'd like to know is, can it be fixed in AE? A friend of mine has AE CS4 but he doesn't know much about it. I'd be willing to learn, if you'd point me in the right direction, I can use his PC to edit.
Keep in mind, I've only just seen the interface of AE and have no idea how anything works.

The link is to a game play screen capture, which is upside down by the way, and it shows a lot of color and motion artifacts. The artifacts and frame rate problems have everything to do with your screen capture program and if they are in the original video there is not much you can do about it using AE or any other program. I can't stand to watch game play anyway. It even gives me a headache when the most games are running. I know recording your game play is popular with the gaming community but there has got to be a better way to capture it than the way you are doing.

  • Can I turn greenscreen video into video with transparent background (instead of default black backgr

Can I turn greenscreen video into video with transparent background to  overlay on another video in another program.  probably export as avi.     I know I can in after effects  but comfortable with premiere.   basically want to turn the greenscreen from a black to transparent background  ppro cs6     windows
[ email address removed by forum host ]

Harm is correct. It would be better to edit in the program where you keyed out the green. However, if you really must ...
DPX is one file per frame. While you may not be able to open it from Windows, it is only because Windwos has not been told to open them in Photoshop.
The whole point of the DPX file is to have a visually lossless storage of your frames that is designed to be used between applications (just what you want to do): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Picture_Exchange
However, if you prefer to use another option that you are more comfortable with, you can use PNG.
    Or...
If you insist on a single video, use the Animation codec for Quicktime.
In any case, you need a picture format or video CODEC that can store an Alpha Channel.
    Or.....
Export the video with the black and use a Luma key in the next application.
    Or ...
Export the video with the black, and then export a video of just the alpha channel as a blabk and white image where black is transparent when used as a track matte, and then in the next application use the video of the alpha channel as a track matte.
Since you haven't said what the other application is or why you want to use it, we are having a little trouble offering a specific solution.

  • 'My Video' and 'Video' folders?? (N95 8GB)

what's is different between My Video and Video folders? only difference is that when I copy a video file into Video folder, I can see that video file in Image&Video menu under gallery. and if the file is located in My Video, then I can't see that in Image&Video folder. Only I can see that file in video center. Now I prefer to keep video files in My Video, cuz I don't like to see Image files and Video files together in Image&Video menu. can I delete the video folder and keep My video only?

You can keep your videos where you want without any ill effects.
Different apps may expect different default locations, as evident also by your description of "Gallery" vs. "Video Center" behaviour. Both of those coming from Nokia should, IMO, use the same folders, but apparently don't.

  • Clickable hotspots or tooltips on videos; interactive videos.

    Hello all,
Forgive me if I'm posting this in the wrong forum. I'd like to know if what I'm proposing has been done before, and if so what some of the examples look like.
My idea is to embed clickable hotspots over a video. For example, we have a shot of a truck rolling down the highway. As it continues driving, different hotspots pop up over various parts of the truck, like axles, transmission, engines, etc. These hotspots can then be clickable, and a small tooltip/bubble pops up with a description about that part. As the video continues playing, different hotspots continue to be generated and available.
I've been poking around all over the web looking for either examples or programs that enable the effect. I've found that most "interactive videos" are based around two premises: shopping from within the video and pick your own storyline. Neither of which is necessarily what I'm looking for, so I've begun thinking that this might an After Effects/Flash based affair. I can use After Effects to generate the tooltips or 3D overlays of the various parts onto the original video, and use Flash to generate the approriate interaction.
As this video will be web based, my final idea was to run the video underneath a layer of code that generated both the sprites and the effects. The problem there is setting up the scripts so that they are timed perfectly with the video.
Any thoughts? If this isn't the place for this, could someone point out where I can get some insight? Much appreciated in advance!
    Cheers.
    D.

    Hey D.
Read your recent question looking for examples of interactive video that looked at other user cases rather than the usual shoppable and choose your own adventure videos.
Thought you might be interested in having a look at wireWAX (www.wirewax.com). We started out much like you creating overlays and doing tracking in After Effects and then using Flash to apply the interaction.
wireWAX has since developed into an online tool that allows anyone one from the most techy creative like yourself, to the basic YouTuber, upload their own videos to the wireWAX studio. From there users can add their own tags to objects and people which are then tracked using our super intelligent tracking system ready for you to add your own overlays or choose from a range of widgets such as YouTube and Facebook. The platform now uses much more advanced image processing to do things like face detection and motion tracking in real-time and works across mobile and tablet too.
OK, sales pitch over, please do have a go. You can simply drop a video into the dropbox on the homepage and use the free tool to add interaction. We also work with brands/producers/filmmakers to create customized experiences on a paid-for service.
Here are a few examples of some videos you might find useful:
    National Portrait Gallery Walkthrough
This video was created by one of our users using the free wireWAX tool. It allows viewers to click on pieces of the artwork to get more information either through a short text description or video in video interview with the curator.

    BBC News
The BBC developed this engaging interactive experience to coincide with the anniversary of the Deepwater Horizon disaster. Viewers could learn more about the ongoing impact and explore extra content clicking on the hotspots that interested them.

    BBC One Luther
The BBC’s 2nd interactive wireWAX video was a trailer for their crime drama Luther. It included exclusive clips and unseen treats in a fitting stylised tag and overlay for the programme.

    Adidas Messi gallery
A customised overlay for Adidas who created this clickable walk through using wireWax to allow Messi fans to click on memorabilia to discover more.

  • Using DVI to Video/ S-video Adapter

I have been trying to use my DVI to Video/S-video adapter with my Daewoo Flat Screen (not flat panal) TV. I have tried every resolution and still everything is small and Fuzzy and it is extremely hard to make out anything. Im wanting to use that adapter to play my game. I am connecting using a S-Video Cable. Please any help. It is a regular Television set NOT LCD or Plasma or any kinda of flat panal just has a flat screen.
    Thanks.
    SaL

Not necessarily. It will depend on what eventually solves the problem. I think you still have a couple of choices to try:
    1. Download (& purchase) a copy of DisplayConfigX. This utility will allow you to "manually" set resolutions that your mini can provide, basically "overridding" what the mini thinks is connected to it. (ref: http://www.3dexpress.de/)
    2. Replace the DVI-to-S-Video adapter to rule out the adapter being the problem. (You may want to try this first.)
