Video - iphone causes high ping - BT Hub 5

Can anyone help me on this please?
When my iPhone 5S with iOS8.0.2 connects to my BT Hub 5, my ping instantly goes up and my internet is un-usable.
Video showing the issue on youtube here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQlTM4DgOEA
Thanks

UPDATE
This appears to be a compatibility issue with iPhone 5S's (ive tested 2) and this BT Business Hub 5.
I turned the wireless off on the Hub, set it to be a modem only. Then plugged a third party wireless router into the Hub to give wireless back which i have set with the exact same SSID / Password that the BT Hub 5 was using) it is fine and doesn't cause any problems at all.
So it looks like it is a problem with the BT Hub 4 / 5? Compatibility issue with iPhones?
Has other people had this issue?

I discovered this issue independent of this thread, and can confirm that killing KiesWifiAgent will instantly take care of DirectoryService's high CPU load.  You'll also free up a bunch of memory.  On my MBP (8 GB RAM), Kies had leaked its way to consuming 1.5 GB of memory.

  • Stereo audio causes "Video Bitrate too High" error

    SOS, Whizzkids.
I try to make a build of a DVD with 1 menu and 3 tracks. , and I get an error message "Video Bitrate Too High." I check the compression setting and they're set to factory default for SD 4by3. (4 and 7 MB).
Get this: I delete one channel of audio from each of the 3 tracks and it compiles perfectly.
I duplicate audio channel 1 by option-dragging to channel 2 for one track, recompile and get the same error.
    I give in. Wassup?
    Any help gratefully received.

Did you convert your audio to AC-3 (Dolby Digital)?
If not, this is the likely cause of your problem. Run your audio through A.Pack (if using DVDSP 3 or earlier) or Compressor 2 (if using DVDSP 4). The "Dolby 2.0" presets in Compressor 2 are the Dolby Digital, but it's recommended to change the following settings and make a new preset.
Set dialog normalization to -31 and the Compression Preset to "None". They default to -27 and "Film Standard", respectively.

  • Extremely high ping on lan, when aother wireless user uploads video

When a user on wireless does anything intensive such as uploading a video, me on lan experiences ping of over 1000 on game servers, and voice servers. The blame "may" (well i think it is) be a "baytay + i915 kernel drivers" fault, these thread are intresting :

  • High Packet Loss, High Ping and Slow Connection Ov...

    Hi There,
I have been a customer with the BT unlimited broadband package for a little under two years and up until recently have had no real issues with the service. This was until around 3/4 weeks ago I noticed that the internet was very slow and certain online games or applications like Netflix would lose all of its quality or stop completely. At first I thought nothing of it and simply reset my BT Home hub router, and sure enough everything was back to normal. However after around 2-3 hours of moderate use (gaming online or watching Netflix) the problem surfaced again.
Now I am lucky if I can get the entire way through a 40 minute TV episode before the quality drops and/or the service requires buffering. I have already contacted BT via the helpline and the service lady ran through the obligatory steps (turn off, wait 5 minutes, reset the home hub etc.) but she failed to understand that although rebooting the home hub does alleviate the problem initially, the symptoms of a slow connection, high packet loss and high ping always return within an hour.
Four the last couple of weeks I have been trying to investigate the problem myself and I have done the following things:
Tested the line using the master socket (no difference)
Opened the ports on my firewall within the home hub (no difference)
Directly wired in the computer instead of relying on the wifi (no difference)
Tested for interference from neighbours wifi using inSSIDider office (it wasn’t, operating on different channels)
Switched every device that requires internet off apart from the PC (no difference)
So with all that in mind I am fairly confident that it is nothing within my house that has caused a significant reduction in internet quality.
Now I have tried my best to display the problem I am having by recording the connection quality for the last 24 hours. The table below represents the condition and quality of the connection after leaving it a period of time without resetting:
    ADSL Line Status

Thank you for you quick reply, I have just moved my hub to the master socket again and re-run the test and I seem to be getting the same results.

I have also checked if the bell wire was attached and it is not. My socket is of the new type with the inclusion of an inductor on the faceplate. My ADSL filters and modem cable already have the middle connecting pins removed so I don’t think it is a wiring problem, at least in my apartment anyway. I have also searched for problems with the exchange and they are showing green for my area. (Liverpool Central)
I have just rang the quiet line and I do not appear to have any noise on the line. However, all I have is a cordless phone and I know that is not ideal for determining noise due to the radio frequency interfering with the phone speaker.
Again thank you for you time on this issue.

  • Firmware bug - modem CG3100D-2 causes 4sec ping response

Ok this will be a long post, sorry. I believe there is a bug in the firmware of the default ultimate cable CG3100D-2 modem. Many DLNA enabled services are unuseable as a result. The issue causes high latency and packet loss and makes streaming video and gaming a frustrating experience. I would hazzard a guess Telstra have sent out hundreds of modems attempting to resolve packet loss and latency issues not being aware of what the problem is. I am not game to try telephone support as they will just want to send me another modem  The issue occurs with plex media server and XBMC DLNA players which are quite popular and most likely many others. (https://plex.tv/ and http://xbmc.org/) With the DLNA software merely running in the background and doing nothing else high latency and ping loss will occur every 25 pings or so to the modem itself. The below will use Plex media server as an example with XBMC not running. My network topology is this:Router with PS3, TV and additional switch connected. The switch plugged into the router has 2 PC's and a media server attached. While plex is running and performing a basic ping test.
Ping switch-plexserver = no high latency
Ping switch-pc = no high latency
    Ping router-internalinterface = high latency
    Ping router-externalinterface = high latency
Ping router-PS3 = no high latency
The frequency of these debilitating spikes which makes online gaming impossible. Initial spike occurs, again 40 seconds later, again 44 seconds later, again 53 seconds later.
As above the issue is sporadic but consistent. As in it continually occurs while plex is on but the timings between spikes is not similiar i would say they that a spike occurs between 10-90 seconds consistently typically every 45 seconds.
Lag spikes range from 200ms to 4000ms locally!.
    - When the issue occurs network throughput is not affected
    - Internet speed test 112mbit down, but high jitter and latency noted
    - Throughput on lan consistent- When the spike occurs the network is idling with throughput stable at 45kbit/sec on the server, disk throughput is stable at 32kbit I have a Microsoft netmon capture of the media server when the issue occurs. I can see a few more SSDP requests but not much else is happening. Spikes occured at the following times give or take a second in the capture. (I'm not sure it it auto adjusts for time so it was captured at GMT+10)
    2:07:54
    2:08:48
2:09:42 Need somewhere to upload the capture file. I can confirm that disabling UPNP on the router resolves the issue, it is a bug with UPNP in the modem. But as Telstra force custom firmware i can't update it with new firmware and as far as i'm aware we can't use third party modems. So Telstra please forward this to your technical team as it's not within my control to fix. FYI: This has occured on 2 different ultimate modems, the intermediate switch has been replaced and also removed from the link to rule that out, the cabling replaced, different power socket tried (reaching before understanding the scope of the issue), the media server installed on multiple different machines to rule out a PC issue. Also occurs on multiple OS's including win7 64bit, server 2008, win8.1 64bit.

    Hi all,
I ended up putting the router in bridged mode (NAT off, plus Disable WiFI, and cease SSUD broadcast). The Netgear works well if you configure it to only do one simple task. Bridge fibre cable to a Ethernet (CAT6 + only) which you plug into the WAN port of another WiFi router.
After extensive reviews I purchased a Linksys instead of upgrading the Netgear.
I bought the Linksys Dual-band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Router. It can be found at: http://www.asus.com/Networking/RTAC68U/
To conclude it is brilliant. It even has backup WAN like 4g USB if the Cable deteriorates, or an extra numbered LAN port which in theory could be an ADSL service or the cable accounts second public IP configured as either "Load Balancing" or "Fault Tolerance (including failback)". Lots of configuration to suit the diverse needs of us all.
I'll compliment this with a newer Synology DS415Play in the future and the house shall be complete.
DLNA WiFi devices are now finding my NAS UpNP services. Plus with the 5Ghz frequency, my TV is steaming at 380Mgbt/s. Awesome gear.
It is now on special at Centrecom for $222.00.
    Best regards,
    Ross.

  • High ping on Valve servers

    Hi,
Over the past month or so, ive noticed im getting a ping of over 200 on Valve servers on Team Fortess 2. For the past 2 weeks, it seemed to had settled down a little to about 70 ping, which i can play on but now its back to 200+. After starting a steam forum thread about this, i soo realised that everyone that has the problem is on BT infinity. One guy added me and we discussed what we was on and what problems we were getting and they were identical. BT Homehub 4, high ping only on Valve servers
Ive reset my connection in a million different ways suggested by different people and none of that did anything. From a few searches, some people fixed the issue by getting mods to change their latency type from Interleaved to Fast, but i dont know what im on so i cant tell if thats the issue.

    Any help?

Just got off the phone with someone from BT trying to convince me its an issue either my end or Valve's end (Even though it happens on non valve games also). Valve have told me its my ISP, which i am 100% certain it is, and she is just telling me to reset my router just once more.
Hope the forum can save me here

  • BT Infinity 2 and high ping rate

I am having a problem with my BT Infinity2.  I am getting high ping rates some as high as 181 ms.  I have download speeds of 15 meg and 8-9 meg upload.  This is through the router wired to my computer.  I was told that I should be able to get somewhere in the region of 77 meg.  This is nowhere near and needs to be sorted out.
It doesn't matter what time of day I do the speed test it is always the same.  If I try and play my Football Manager 2012 game online I can't as my connection just kicks me back off the steam server.  If I try and watch a programme on Iplayer or ITV player ther programmes are fuzzy, blocking and unwatchable, also with the buffering is beyond a joke.

micksea173 not good and you have my sympathy
Try rebooting both the hub and the modem. Run the BT Speedtester to get your IP Profiles and  http://www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/ to get an accurate speed test. Pings are very dependant on the site you are measuring a ping of 181 for a server in LA could be quite good! If you know how also run a tracert to bbc.co.uk. Post agin with the results and somebody can make an educated guess as to where the problem lies.

  • Very Slow Internet + High Ping

I am on a Sager laptop running Windows 7 and using an Airport Extreme Base Station as my router. I don't know how the router is set up or even how to access the router from my computer. My roommate set up the internet before I moved in. I have already contacted my internet provider and they believe my slow service + extremely high pings when I try to play any online game are a result of my router.
I am just looking for a way to correct my issue. I would also like to know how I can even access my router from my computer. Thanks.

+Is there any way for the owner of the device to limit the amount of bandwidth I am receiving??+
    No.
+but I really don't understand why my internet is so crummy.+
Interference from other wireless networks or cordless phones is usually the cause of issues like this. If you have a cordless phone there, turn it off for an hour or so to see if things improve. Unfortunately, there's not much you can do about a neighbor's cordless phone causing problems or another wireless network.
+If I could access the utility what would you suggest I check?+
You can access AirPort Utility by going to the Downloads link on the main forum page. But, you won't be able to access any of the settings on the AirPort Extreme unless you have the device password, which is different than the wireless password. The first thing to do is try different channel settings for the wireless to see if you can find some clear airspace.

  • Videos are causing error

When ever I download a video from my iphone or canon g11 ... Aperture locks up and does not respond to anything.  I have to force quit and reopen and try and find the video and delete it in the 5-10 seconds I have before it locks up.  This is new so I'm not sure what is going on.

Had a similar problem...not sure if its the same one though. Videos (movies, TV) played fine on Itunes but then one day after I rented a movie all videos would cause the program to freeze and I would have to force quit. Tried uninstall-reinstall, download software updates and all that but nothing worked.
What finally did work was I selected a video (movie, Mp4) that was not downloaded from Itunes store and not in my itunes library. I selected "open with" and then itunes and the movie loaded into the library and played great. Now everyting works fine and is back to normal. try this if you're not having luck with anything else.
I have a macbook pro in case this makes any difference. Good Luck!

    Video Bitrate Too High
    Build cancelled
I've been having this problem for a couple days now. I'm not sure what to do. I have 4 videos and they seem to render well under 3 GB, but it's mainly the menu that doesn't work. Can anyone suggest anything? If you have any more questions, just ask.

Well if you're using PCM audio (.aif) you've got no chance with a bitrate that high. PCM audio takes up 1.536Mbps of your total bandwidth. So at 9 you are way over already!
Even if you use DD AC-3 you pretty much have no chance too cause many encoders will spike over the max for VBR or target with CBR and at the bitrate you are leaving no headroom,
Reduce your bitrate, cause as the message says, it's too high,

  • Video Bitrate Too High...Wha?!?! NO!!

hello. i just spent 24 hours compressing (with compressor, from fcp) a bunch of projects of various length with various bitrates. when i tried to burn them with dvd studio pro, they all said "video bitrate too high." now, some of the projects had a video bitrate of 7.2, while others were 3.5...and they all said "video bitrate too high." what's up with that! i was using aiff audio...is there a chance that the problem was caused by that? right now, i'm re-compressing everything with ac3 as the audio format. in another 24 hours, i'll know if it worked.
    can someone help me?!?!?!

well a maximum bit rate of 8.8 with 1.5 of AIFF file, gives us a 10.3 bitrate, unfortunetly DVD maximum bit rate is 9.8, so here you go, you are well out of spec, use a 224kbs on the AC-3 encode for the audio with a dialogue normalization of -31, and a maximum of 8.5 bitrate on your video compression and you should be a happy man next time!!!!!
    good luck,
    PJ

  • Video bitrate too high... Okay now what?

    Hello,
As usual, when I try to build my DVD in DVD Studio Pro I get the error 'video bitrate too high'.
I checked it out on the net, and I get what the error message means. I wanna ask you guys what I should do next. Apparently I should reduce the bitrate, by how much? Should I recompress the m2vs I have in Compressor then put them back in Studio Pro, or can Studio Pro reduce the bitrate internally?
Thanks a lot a lot!! Please help!
    Kenji

One of the least understood issues, bitrates. Among the more common misunderstood causes is the total bitrate includes audio processing and, because the DVD spec is so old and primitive, your total bitrate must never exceed the top end; there is no headroom for transient peaks so you could have a single frame that spikes and this can terminate the encode.
You must use a less intensive audio file structure, that's AC3, I think.

  • Iphone causes computer to freeze while on dock.

Hey guys, I just opened up my iphone today and it's great. However, my iphone causes my computer to freeze. I'm using the universal dock and the oem usb cable to connect to my computer (USB 2.0). While plugged in the iphone charges and shows the screen with battery indicator. However, after a while my iphone's wallpaper comes up and freezes my computer (have to restart computer). My iphone is still fully functional though.
So here's what I tried so far that didn't work:
    1. Reinstalling itunes (latest).
    2. Reinstalling USB 2.0 drivers for my motherboard.
    3. Powercycling iphone.
    4. Restarting computer.
    5. Switching USB ports.
    6. Turning off auto-lock.
I built my computer myself and some of the specs are:
    AMD64 3200
    Asus K8V Deluxe
    2GB ram
Windows XP Pro SP2 (Fresh Install)

Okay so I have tried and it still freezes:
    - Changing USB ports to high speed 480MBps in bios
    - Changing USB cables
    - Using it without the universal dock
    - Used a seperate partition (another windows xp system partition)
None of these resolved my issues so far. Right now I have it hooked up to my macbook pro and I'm monitoring how it's going. Anyone has had similar experiences with this? Tomorrow I'm going to try to plug in my brother's ipod just to see if it freezes also.

  • Extremely high ping times only fixed via restart

I have 2 BR350 in bridge to a remote tower that has an AP350 providing access to customers. The customers will call in with complaints of very slow access. I have been onsite to see that a user can login to the AP350(web) fine but the BR350 at the tower is slow and the BR350 at the far tower is for most purposes dead. The link still shows up around 65% to 75% signal strength. By restarting either BR350 the link will come back fine. I have been using Ping Plotter to keep track of the ping times and see that the response times sometime slow grow or instantly grow to around 2000ms to 4000ms. Ping times from the customer to the AP350 on the tower remain below 10ms during all of this.
I have had a similar problem with an AP350 in another city thats ping time do the same thing and require a reboot. It's ping time from the client side can range form 4ms to 800ms on regular usage as well. This customer has an average of 80% signal strength from the Workgroup Bridge.
How can I find out what is causing that strange high ping time on these situations.
    All units running firmware 12.00
    Thanks for the help.

Normally ,the first thing to do is to check the software version used. Here,in your case you are using the latest software release(12.00T). So now the problem can be isolated to other issues. Bridge software provides tools to show you the types of problems and where the bridge is encountering the problems. Two of the most helpful tools are the Throughput statistics and the Error statistics screen. You can get the procedure for collecting the error statistics using the following URLs:
    http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/102/wlan/br-ts-22950.shtml#conn
