Video out stopped working with 10.4.6 update

Hi, i've just installed the 10.4.6 update and now i have no video out.
i have a video connected to the adc to s vhs connector. now when i start up my monitor starts up as the second display, and i have to put my computer to sleep and then wake it up and the monitor is reset to the main display.
is there anyway i can reset something, cause it seems like it's remember previous settings or something.
HELP!
if i disconnect the adc to s vhs adapter then it is all fine.

7 hours later and i finally get it working again.
i have no idea why this happened, but somehow the menu bar got switched to the tv display. at the same time as this my video stopped working properly. so that was half the problem.
then it took ages to reconfigure switch res, but i finally did it.
for some reason my g5 doesn't want to know about using a tv as a 2nd display, until......UNTIL!!!! you rotate the display in the display preference by 90 degrees. then all of a sudden it comes on, and you can rotate it back to normal.
why oh why this happens only apple knows. it's like a secret door into the wonderful world of dual displays.
sort it out apple.

USB Video stopped working with 3.1.8 update

I have been using iChat video with my USB camera for a while with the help of iChatUSBCam. The new update of iChat (3.1.8) included support for USB cameras and once installed my USB camera stopped working with iChat. It just reports the camera is in use by another application. I've been browsing for answers for a while and have tried many things:
- Restart in various combinations of unplugging and plugging in the camera
- Reinstalled the Macam driver
- Reinstalled Quicktime
- Uninstalled iChatUSBCam (since iChat is supposed to work without it now - I think...)
- Reinstalled iChatUSBCam (v 2.2.1 - current)
It's a Logitech Quickcam for Notebooks Deluxe. It continues to work fine with Skype and the the Macam camera tool. I'm using Skype for now (on tour for 6 weeks and use it to video call home) but the quality is crap compared to what iChat used to do.

Some people have reported that Updating iChatUSBCam
and deleting the Macam drivers and then the
com.apple.ichat.plist is the way to go.
Thanks for your help!! I tried these things before, but tried them again in the order you suggested with no success. I'm pretty sure it is not a UVC compliant camera. It's not on Logitech's list of UVC cameras.

If I try it without the Macam drivers it doesn't show up as a camera is connected at all.
It's so frustrating because it was working great with iChatUSBCam until the recent update. It still works in Skype with no problems, but I'd rather be using iChat if I can - much better video quality.

HT1454 iPhone 4s video out not working with AV cable

I have an iPhone 4s with ios 6.0. I recently bought the apple composite AV cable from an apply store. Unfortunate when I connect it to my tv all I get is sound. I've search for tv out settings but I can't seem to find them. Any suggestions?

im running ios 6.1.3 but have been having this problem for a while at least 2 earlier versions.I have an iphone 4s as do 2 of my work colleagues one running on the same as me and the other slightly earlier but not sure. I have a docking device that has an av out and also an iphone adater to composite av.and also vuzix wrap that supports iphone My phone doesnt work with any and i can recall starting to have problems first with the docking device which became temperamental and then wouldnt work at all.both my mates phones work with it and the glasses.My kids ipad 2s work with the composite lead and the glasses- dont fit the dock obviously ,my iphone 3 runs on all.i can only think that at some point the internals of my iphone 4s may have become damaged hence the intermittant problems with the dock at first ,and maybe its the 30 pin plug could it be that whichever of the pins carry the av signal have become damaged in some way posible dampness ,but im going to have it changed as it seems like a likey possibility.I can say one thing it was nothing to do with the software version ,nor any other device or lead.Also what i thought might be the internal 30 pin plug is i dont get a message l anymore saying the "accessory is not compatible with this iphone"therefore i dont think the phone knows theres a plug in so for the av out pins anyway as it charges up fine

StarWalk compass stopped working with their most recent update.

My favorite application on my iPad used to be Starwalk. Ever since their most recent update on April 30, the internal compass stopped working (which is basically the backbone of the entire app). I contacted Vito technology (the developer) - it took a long time to get a response, but after several efforts they finally replied that there was a flaw in the iPad's internal Magnetometer, that it had nothing to do with their software, and there was nothing they could do about it - I should take it up with Apple. The app worked perfectly until their most recent update. I looked at their reviews/comments and numerous people were making the exact same complaint, and everyone said it stopped working as the result of the April 30 Starwalk update. I have one friend with a 3G iPad and the app still works fine for him. I have another friend with a wiFi version like me, and the app ALSO stopped working for him on April 30. So I understand not all iPads are affected.
So am I supposed to take this up with Apple now and tell them there is a flaw in their magnetometer that caused StarWalk to break as of their last update, and see if they can fix all our devices?
I don't believe Vito's assertion that their software is not at fault (considering so many people are complaining in their negative reviews that the last update triggered this breakage).
I'm frustrated and wonder if anyone else is experiencing this. Starwalk used to be my favorite app, and its even more frustrating to listen to the developer tell me its a device flaw that's been there all along, when me and many other people all had simultaneous magnetometer problems develop on April 30 - the moment we installed their last update.

Just that I have the latest from April 30 and there are no updates that are available to me. I guess you have the wifi only version as I do? I can't quite figure out why this would be affecting some people and not others. If you go to the StarWalk page on iTunes you'll see the list of people complaining about the same thing. In iTunes it also says my iPad software is up to date (I assume that means the OS/firmware).
So do you guys think this is something I take up with StarWalk or Apple? I feel a little ripped off that Vito has sold me a $6 app (granted that is not much) that has stopped working, and they are telling me its a flaw in the device.
I'll paste the response I received from Vito below. Bear in mind that although they say this has nothing to do with their software, all of the people who are complaining had a functioning app before April 30, and it stopped working as soon as we made that update.

Unfortunately, we cannot fix this particular problem, because it is caused by the digital compass malfunction and has nothing to do with our software. However, we are happy to offer you directions which may help you avoid experiencing this inconvenience in the future.
For better functioning of the digital compass consider doing the following:
1) Tilt your device from landscape to portrait orientation several times. This will help the digital compass recalibrate itself and calculate current position.
2) Make sure the compass is not obstructed by thick walls of buildings or large amounts of metal nearby. Try going outside.
3) Consider trying again later. Sometimes it is unclear what may be influencing the magnetometer.
If you need more information, please read the magnetometer specifications below.

Spectraview ii stopped working with 10.7.5 update

Hi I have an NEC MultiSunc 2690WUXi2 monitor using Spectraview ii to calibrate it, each of which was working
fantastic until I updated my Mac yesterday from 10.7.4 to 10.7.5
I am using a 2.66 GHz Quad-Core Intel Mac with an Nvidia GeForce GT 120 graphics card.
I now get Spectraview detecting the monitor but unable to communicate with it.
It's really urgent that I fix this problem since my work is color sensitive.
I was using Spectraview version 1.1.12.1 just fine before the upgrade.
Afterwards, I tried downgrading Spectraview a couple levels to 1.1.10, and
then down to 1.1.09.1 and none of those can communicate, although they all
detect the monitor.
I also checked my DVI cable with which I'm attached to the computer and got a
new DVI-D dual link cable since the older one was DVI-D single link. The dual
link DVI-D did not solve the problem.
Does anyone know of a way to fix this? It's a huge problem!

Hi J, thanks for posting the link! I actually did come across that same site and thread, but only after I made the update. This is a huge problem for anyone in photography/art.
Talking with NEC support, they told me they are working with Apple on the issue but there is no timeframe on the fix. They said the only thing to do is revert back to previous 10.7.4 using Time Machine. I'm going to try to do this on my Mac Pro this weekend. I've never done that before so crossing my fingers!
I wish I could help you with a fix. In the meantime, the input on your monitor will remember the last previous progam from your saved color profile. This helped me out a ton in finishing up some work today. Cycle through the inputs until you get to the program one, and it will adjust. It's not ideal but it's something.
I also did come across this thread that was a bit similar. After having trouble with Mountain Lion, someone tried using a Gefen DVI Detective Plus to connect this same monitor to their graphics card on a Mac Pro. It solved a hardware problem for them, but they don't mention using Spectraview with the device and setup. It might be something to look into though?

Ipod Touch Video Out not working with IOS5?

I normally could play video just fine from my Ipod to my TV and Exercise machine via the ipod plug in on the bottom...however since IOS5...video will play for secs. on the TV then TV goes blank....sound works and the IPOD Touch displays the normal "Vidoe out" screen mode that normally shows when the video is being displayed on the TV. any ideas? any way to revert back to the previous OS?

Downgrading the iOS is not supported by Apple.
What cable are yu using and what is the source of the videos?
Have yu tried another app that supports TV out?

ATV stopped working with my Sanyo after update

I just updated my AppleTV. It is no longer showing picture to my Sanyo Z2 video projector. No matter what I try, the picture is not appearing. ATV sounds are normal. Have there been and update to e.g HDCP driver in ATV or something... which would cause Sanyo not show the video???

Its connected to a splitter which routes to and hd tv and and hd projector. I thought that this could be the problem and It may be that it IS causing this issue. BUT it worked ok last week, rented 3 hd movies with no errors at all, my 1st rental since the patch last night and I couldnt do it. Almost ruined my saturday night, thank god for blu ray (which, incidentally I BOUGHT for £5 more than an apple rental...couldnt resist that dig about prices, sorry apple). I know the patch was supposed to address the download issue but as there are now new HDMI options in the menu they have done something hdmi related. At the end of the day my options seem to be buy a 10m component cable and watch 1080i on my projector ONLY or rule out apple tv for movie watching. The second option is going to be a **** of a lot cheaper. Real shame as Ive loved my ATV until yesterday

X11 - xfig stopped working with 10.4.8 update

The program returns a segmentation fault on startup. I installed it with i-Installer 2.79, by the way. Could anyone with the above configuration try running XFig? I just want to know if this is a local problem or an incompatibility between xfig and Mac OS X 10.4.8.

I just compiled and installed xfig with 10.4.8, using fink. It works in that context, for what it is worth. So it can't be a fundamental incompatibility.
The advantage of fink is that /sw lives in isolation of the rest of the system, so it is comparatively rare for point updates to create havoc.

HP Pavilion external monitor has stopped working with my Macbook Pro (Mid 2012) with OSX 10.8.3. When I purchased the monitor a few weeks ago it worked perfectly when computer was in clamshell mode or with lid open. Now external display has stopped working. When I turn on display it scans for signal but does not find it and then immediately goes into sleep mode. I am using a DVI connection with the adapter for the mini display plug. REALLY FRUSTRATING. Any help would be extremely appreciated.

Is there any way of fixing this? I've tried the usual: triple checked all vga cables & devices through trial & error. Bought a new DVI-VGA adapter. Reset PRAM, PMU, etc. Nothing works. Something is probably damaged, because my KVM switch was not working unless I hot-reseated the vga cable into it, leading to this DVI port, and that is pretty rough stuff.
Question 2 (related):
This dovetails into this: Can I drive a VGA monitor with the s-video output port on this computer. It would take an s-video (male)-to-15-pin-VGA adapter. Has anyone does this? So far, I haven't even found the adapter mentioned anywhere.

Thanks for the useful feedback, Knucklesmac. I agree. I must have blown something on the logic board -- because I had a faulty old KVM switch that would not switch between computers without some nasty hot-plugging/unplugging the VGA video cables. (wince!). It's like when Dizzy Dean ruined his arm because a line drive hit him in the foot and he readjusted his mechanics around the injury. I take the blame because this has been a great computer, and does not deserve any blame.

I've been working on this all day!!! I've tried everything I know of and can't get it to load either. Sounds like lots of people are having problems. Here is what I have so far...I have uninstalled EVERYTHING on my pc from apple and reinstalled itunes to no avail. I have tried all sorts of things I've read as fixes online. NOTHING has worked. Here is something interesting that i have noticed though. my main pc (which is the one i have always managed my itunes account with for years) is a 32 bit system running windows 7. Yesterday I installed itunes for the first time on my new netbook which is a 64 bit (windows 7) system and it works just fine. i have three other laptops (all window 7) in my household that are all 64 bit operating systems and ALL have updated to 10.5 and THEY ALL work fine. this is FOUR 64 bit systems ALL updated w/10.5 that work and ONE that is a 32 bit that will not. Can't get any help from apple. their suppot *****! I want to get someone on the **** phone or a live chat but cant. *** APPLE????? please let mw know if you find SOMETHING i can try next. I'm out of ideas and patience!

3. How did you set up your project
a. What are the properties of the source media...video and audio compression, frame size, frame rate, interlaced or progressive, file extension, pixel aspect ratio? What is the duration of the Timeline content?
b. What project preset did you or the project set to match the properties of the source media. If you do not know, please see Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and the readings for Editing Mode, Timebase, Frame Size, and Pixel Aspect Ratio, even if they appear to be grayed out?
4. Basics
a. Are you running the program Run As Administrator and from User Account with Administrative Privileges?
b. Do you have the latest version of QuickTime installed on your computer with Premiere Elements?
c. Is your video card/graphics card up to date according to the web site of the manufacturer of the card? How many video/graphic cards does your computer use, 1 or 2?
