  • Video played in safari cannot pause/play in horizontally rotated view

    When i play video from any websites using safari the videos plays well and when i pause the video by pressing the play/pause control button on the screen it works very fine but the problem is when I tilt the video to horizontal(landscape) view while the video is playing, pressing the play/pause control video doesn't stop. But this problem not found with any video that is played using video player(video files on the ipod memory).

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
    Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
    Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
    All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:

  • Video plays dark red to black.

    Hi,
    After many years using PE8 I recently upgraded to PE 10 to make full use of the AVCHD format.  However after using PE10 if I try and play any video file in Windows Media Player or VLC it plays but appears with the whites appearing dark red and the blacks appearing black.  The way to correct this is to re-install the graphics card drivers.  When I then run PE10 again, in order to play the video files again I have to re-install the drivers.  This process is getting a little tiresome.  The drivers are the lastest version downloaded from the manufadturers website.  I didn't have this problem before installing PE10.  My question is what keeps upsetting my graphics settings and how can I stop it doing this.  Your expert assistance is much appreciated in advance!!
    Regards,
    Antony.

    I've never heard of this before. But first thing to always do is manually go to Windows Update and look for optional updates. (Critical ones should apply automatically.) Ensure you have all non-critical updates. They sometimes include important drivers and updates.
    Though since this doesn't seem to happen with all video -- just the video from this camera --- I'd suspect the codec at work in your cam may be part of the issue.
    This is, after all, not a camcorder. It's a still camera. So the video you pull from it does not use traditional camcorder codecs. The specs do claim that it shoots in AVCHD when shooting 1920x1280 30 fps. Is this the mode you shot in?
    Meantime, if the camcorder came with any software, make sure to install that on your computer, as it may install some drivers and codecs that may also resolve this issue.

  • No videos playing in Safari

    For the last 4 or so days I haven't been able to play video from any site - youtube, break, googlevids, yahoo vids etc. in safari and I've no idea why.
    Safari works fine for all videos on the test user account, and I'm able to get vids with firefox and camino on my main acct, but for seemingly no reason at all safari quit playing all vids and even certain ads with moving graphics. Saturday morning I just logged on and all vids were replaced by the quicktime 'Q' with a question mark.
    I don't think any of my preference settings were changed and I'd just repaired permissions the night before this started. I don't know if that could have anything to do with it. I'm fairly new to computers and I'd read in the discussions that you should repair permissions after the 10.4.8 update, so I did figuring better late than never.
    Thanks for your time.

    Hello Jeegs,
    You are very welcome. You can learn a lot here read, & read some more, you are not hopeless just new : )
    Here is the link i broke the first time, sorry about that; ) Updating FAQ
    I just ran repair permissions again, then I restarted, once I signed in and my desktop came up I restarted again. I think that's what you meant for me to do.
    Thank you, yes that is what i meant. So it ran & you got a message
    that repair was complete permission have been repaired or veriferd
    Another thing that's odd is if I go to the macromedia page that tells you what version flashplayer you have, it tells me nothing, just two more Qs with the question mark show up.
    Which version of Flash does this tell you have installed ?
    Is it version: 9,0,20,0 that is the intel version. Option1 is for Mac Intel
    http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/
    The ? mark sounds more like a quicktime issue however i am not clear.
    Which version of QuickTime are you running 7.1.3 ?
    You don't need to reinstall the OS, your user account works, so something
    in your Home preferences is possibly corrupt.
    Quit Safari & Quicktime if they aren"t quit.
    Go to your username Home~/Library/Prefrerences [in list mode] find
    com.apple.quicktime.plugin.prefrences.plist& move it to the Desktop Do not trash it.
    Try Safari, can you view youtube vidoes?
    Are using any Safari enhancing apps. that maybe interfering with flash or QuickTime
    Did you use the Combined Update 10.4.8 when you updated?
    At the most you may have to reapply the os update, imo.
    If you are using a router check to see if it needs an update, same holds
    true for an external modem.

    MacBook Pro  / Mozilla Firefox / Netflix / Silverlight Update solved - DON'T DWNLOAD FROM NETFLIX
    I solved this problem tonight. I have a MacBook Pro with 10.5.8. I know, it's old. But I love my Netflix and I recently noticed that Firefox plays Netflix much better.  Then I suddenly got this message that I needed to download the latest Silverlight - it only takes 30 seconds! - WRONG.   However, after much searching, I finally did the steps in order and it worked.
    This was after repeatedly downloading Silverlight from the Netflix site without success.  So here's what I did:
    1. Went to http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx
    2. Followed the directions. I felt like such an idiot for not doing it right before.
    3. Go to your hard drive and search for "Silverlight" to locate ANY existing Silverlight files: .dmg, etc.
        [also check your Libary/ Internet Plug-ins, but the above search is faster]
    4. Drag it all to the trash and empty it.
    5. Go back to the Get  Silverlight page and click on the Install on that page, not the Netflix site.
    6. Note the steps for Safari or Mozilla Firefox - I wanted Firefox, so I follwed those instructions.
    7. Once it's installed, close all the browsers and Restart that bad boy. Right away.
    8. Open a browser, go to Netflix and proceed to joyfully rot your brain with Netflix content. Yay!

  • Web site hosted video won't play in Safari on MAC.

    I have a web application that runs in a web browser. One of its features is the ability to embed a video clip in a web page hosted on this application.
    If I create a web page using the HTML5 <video> tag and an H.264 encoded MP4 file video clip, I can browse to this page from my web server and see the video. However, if I launch this same HTML page within my application (window.open(URL, _blank, ...)) it displays the page but refuses to play the video. This happens in Safari 5.1 on my Mac OS10.7 and on all browser tested on my iPad2 (Safari, Mecury, and Dolphin). However, the same HTML code plays fine through my application on all browsers on Windows (including Safari for Windows) and all other browsers (Firefox, Chrome, and Opera) on the Mac. It also plays through the default Android browser and the Opera Mobile browser on my Android tablet.
    Here is a sample of the HTML that I am using to play this video...
    <video height="713" width="950" autoplay="autoplay" controls="controls" poster="WhiteScreen.png">
         <source src="tradeintradeup.mp4" type="video/mp4" />
         <source src="tradeintradeup.webm" type="video/webm" />
         <source src="tradeintradeup.ogg" type="video/ogg" />
         <div id-noupdate>
              <p>Video format not supported by this browser</p>
         </div>
    </video>
    When the video does not play, I do NOT get the text in the div, I see an area where the video should be (so the browser is recognizing the <video> tag) but the video never loads or plays.
    What am I missing?
    Thank you for your assistance.
    Dave Smith

    Michael,
    Thank you for your response.
    I am aware of the autoplay restriction on iOS devices. What I see in my iPad(2) is an empty area of the window with no control to touch/click to start the video playing.
    In Safari on my Mac, I do see the control bar with the rewind/replay and the play buttons; however, the word "Loading..." is displayed forever in the bar. Again, the browser recognizes the video tag and creates the control to play the clip, but the video never actually starts playing. It appears that it hangs trying to download/stream the content.
    I have other pages that embed audio clips using the HTML5 <audio> tag. These play fine, as expected, with Safari on my Mac and on my iPad. Yes, I have to manually start the audio on the iPad, but it runs fine once started and autoplays on the Mac. Of course, these audio files are much smaller than the video files that will not play.
    I have looked at the codec used for the video to see if it might not be compatible with the Mac Safari browser, but the video plays directly from my web site. It only fails to play when launched in a pop-up window by my web application. I realize that this points to a problem in my application. I am trying to get some ideas about where to look in my application for the problem.
    Thanks again for your time and your input.

  • Videos will not play in Safari

    I have an iPhone 3GS on the 3.1.2 OS, and cannot get videos to play in Safari. I've tried watching videos on ESPN's mobile site, as well as the TV Ads for the iPhone on Apple's website, and all that shows up is a screen full of code. Any assistance is much appreciated.

    The iPhone will only play H264/Quicktime video and you're trying to watch Flash based video which is not supported. But just check the javascript option is ticked in the safari options.
    There is no workaround.
    If you search the forum for 'flash' you will see plenty of threads on the subject. Flash will probably never be supported for the reasons therein - plenty to read up.

  • Videos won't play in Safari. Notice says, "You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video." I have downloaded it, but no change. All videos play OK in firefox, but I like the controls in Safari better and want to stay with it.

  • ITunes after 10.8.3 combo update doesn't play video, only audio with a black screen

    My iTunes has been randomly playing really old QuickTime files as I've had iTunes start in 32 bit mode.  That worked for a while, but like I said, it has stopped working and iTunes is back to not playing older QT movie files.  Fine.
    Now, however, iTunes didn't play a PROTECTED file that I purchased from the iTunes store.  I made sure my computer was authorized to play the file, the store said my computer was already authorized.  iTunes plays the AUDIO of the selected video, but only shows a black window where the video should be playing.  It did this for several videos.  I was confused.
    I restarted my computer and now iTunes is playing the file as it should.  It is not however playing my MPG QuickTime movie files that it has played for years.
    What is going on with the software?  I've followed the threads telling me to remove Perian, remove, Filp4Mac, restart, run in 32-bit mode, etc and nothing is now working when those solutions worked just last week.
    Any input about what I should try next would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!
    Chad

    just as last time quicktime was updated, this version does the same thing. after updating to QT7.3 videos no longer play in safari. i went to the apple trailers site, i get the sound but no video. last time the solution i found was to remove the quicktime plugin from the plugin folder in the library folder. i did that same thing this time, and it still does not work.
    any help on this one? using a powerbook g-3 pismo, with os 10.4
    thanks

    Hi tfu47 and welcome to the forums!
    No such problems here - which I know doesn't help you!
    Did you close all applications before installing the update? Did you restart as instructed? Did you repair permissions?
    These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
    Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
    Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
    In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
    In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
    Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them).
    Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz.
    Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
    The world should now be your oyster!
    You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

    PLEASE HELP ME I AM FACING A PROBLEM
    My name is Ameer.
    I watch youtube videos from ipad2 ( safari )
    today for my first time, when i run a video and i want to pause it, i touch the screen where the video is playing to reach the pause botton that is located on a bar under the video which appears when i touch the screen. Today every time i touch the screen nothing happens and i cannt pause the video nor adjusting its quality.
    So plese help me fixing this problem as soon as posible.
    Regards

    Same problem on my ipad mini, running ios 6.0.2.
    A bit more info:
    -tried using YouTube in Safari on another ipad. Worked fine.
    Tried reboot (sleep + home buttons for 15 seconds). Didn't fix.
    -tried logging out of my YouTube account, thinking the problem was tied to my settings. Didn't fix.
    -tried uninstalling all apps I downloaded since the last time YouTube worked properly. Didn't fix.
    -tried watching a video in desktop mode. Can tap video screen to bring up pause okay in that mode.
    There are work arounds, but the thing I want to know is why YouTube doesn't work in Safari as of a couple of days ago, and is it indicative of another more serious problem with my ipad.

  • Videos (of any kind) will not play in Safari

    Okay, this has been bugging me for about two months now! Videos of any format will not play in Safari. Anything flash (Youtube for example) OR anything Quicktime (mpg, avi, mov, mp4) refuses to even show up when I try to view them. I go to a Youtube page and the whole page loads except for where the video should be...it's just not there at all. Same with Quicktime. If I go to say the HD Trailer for a movie, the three different sizes (480 720 1080) buttons do not even show up (because they are mini Quicktime things)!!
    What I have tried to solve this with: I have updated Flash, uninstalled/reinstalled Flash, updated Quicktime, have Mac OS X up to date...but nothing works. These files play fine on just plain Quicktime player (ie I downloaded them) or in FIREFOX, but not in Safari.
    BTW: I am using Safari 2, not 3. Also, WMVs actually will play sometimes, but not imbedded, only if you click like www.example.com/movie.wmv
