Video playback fullscreen
While watching a video in full screen mode I press the pasue button and the whole movie window fades out and disappears. The normal functionality would be for the movie to pause. The movie then stops. No window or anything. The only way to start the movie back up is to go into itunes and restart the movie.
Don't know what's going on there...works here with two Cinema Displays.
I've got Apple FireWire NTSC (mirror on desktop-checked) in my A/V devices tab of Audio/Video Settings...(nothing selected in 'Different Output for Edit to Tape/Print to Video, because I'm not using that function in this workflow)
I can then just go to View/Video Playback/Fullscreen from the main menu and it goes right out to my second display.
Maybe has something to do with your Mac System Monitor preferences.?.?...not sure.

Video Playback Fullscreen (missing)
I recently took my iMac in to have the logic board replaced, which was quick and painless, by the way, but when I got back to work on it, the Command-F12 -Fullscreen preview wouldn't work. Under the Preferences menu, the video preview option comes up (missing). Any Ideas? thanks!

Fullscreen video playback on external monitor (overlay problem?)
I want to watch videopodcasts via iTunes fullscreen on my external Monitor/TV. It works fine with Quicktime and WindowsMediaPlayer but iTunes doesn't play my Videos in Fullscreen on my external Monitor.
I had the idea it is because the overlay mode isn't siwtched on but I can't find where to setup the display mode of video playback in iTunes.
Can anybody help me?
Bernd.
PC Windows XPoh, no...
i thouhght the iTunes Videoplayback would rely on Quicktime and thus it would be possible.
isn't there any other possibilty?

Fullscreen Video playback shows wrong line at top and bottom
I have a very annoying problem for years now, it happens with various Windows-OS (XP, Vista, Win 7) and no iTunes/Quicktime update changed anything ever:
If I watch my iTunes Video clips (all bought in the iTunes store) in fullscreen the first (header) line of the video playback is displayed at the bottom and vice versa. You need to watch a video with different colors in the upper and lower part, then the error is quite noticeable.
I use ATI Graphics cards.
Anyone knows a solution? Thanks for your quick answer, however I did try that and the problem
remained. Also, DVD's that I buy in the store play fullscreen without having
to change any settings to the player nor the TV so way should it now? (just
wondering)
The only way to get it to play full screen is set the TV to "cinema 1"
instead of "16:9". But then it looks like the image is blown up.
I'm not sure if it's relevant but the TV is a widescreen LCD HD flatpanel,
DVD player is a standard (cheap) one. -
Judder in flash video playback
I'm having this weird random judder issue when viewing video playback using the flash player (e.g. youtube). The judder is very noticeable on 2d scrolling videos such as this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAdHJYUjeVo&feature=g-all-u#t=10m40s. I have gotten the judder to go away only a few times by jumping around video resolutions and using the "show video info" option. It's totally inconsistent in terms of a fix. Video info shows that it's running at 30fps and not dropping frames. I've used current versions of firefox, chrome and IE with the same results. I'm seriously baffled.
This just didn't become an issue with the current version of flash. It's been an issue across many versions of flash.
In the ways of the troubleshooting I've tried with no success:
Uninstalled and reinstalled flash.
Turned off hardware acceleration.
Disabled plugins and extensions.
Uninstalled my antivirus (avira).
Done a clean wipe and install of my video drivers.
Disabled aero.
Any ideas or suggestions would help a lot. Thanks in advance.

Bug report has been submitted.
I'm pretty sure the judder has always been there. Sometimes it's more pronounced and sometimes it's not. As I said it's very inconsistent. But 95% of the time there is judder.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling flash ver. 10.3.183.43 and unfortunately it did not fix it.
It's so weird. It really looks like it's dropping fps at random and yet flash player video info says it's fluctuating between 29-31 fps and not dropping frames.
I really don't understand how me going back and forth between resolutions and fullscreen and right clicking on the video to bring up video info will make it go away randomly. -
Improving Intel X1300 Video playback
Hey all.
I was wondering if you could help me. At the moment my video playback in Arch Linux is not as good in Ubuntu. As ubuntu has the 'Configured Device' etc in the xorg.conf, I cannot see what settings I have for my GPU.
I have compiz enabled, I was looking for X not XV (but a bonus ) to work. At the moment X is slow at fullscreen and causes the CPU to go high(er) than in Ubuntu. And In Ubuntu fullscreen was perfect.
This is my xorg.conf
I have a Intel X1300 Graphics card using the i915 driver.

ITunes keeps playing music videos in fullscreen mode.
Hi, I'm having this issue with itunes 10.4
Everytime a music video plays on itunes it goes fullscreen!
Even if i'm using safari for instance, my space it's changed to the fullscreened video and it doesnt even show up, its just a black screen with the music in the background
And after the music video finishes, the next song starts in the Visualizer mode,
it won't go back to the normal window it's annoying
How can i change this?
I tried to find an option in preferences but couldnt find itTry to set your preferred video size in the iTunes View menu > Video Playback > [Options].
This used to be in preferences. but now is in the View menju. -
Adobe AIR Desktop Application - HD Video Playback
Hello everyone,
I am new to the forums. Hope I am posting in the correct one.
I have been doing AS3 development for last 2 years. But recently I had to implement a HD Video playback in windows. I was happy to know that StageVideo helps in that case. So I started coding and created projector (not with Adobe AIR , but to play with Flash StandAlone player). Was working great , playing 3840*1080 video with ease, awesome performance. But the problem came when I had to switch to fullscreen in that program. We were using 2 Monitors with extended desktop to give 3840x1080 resolution. The Flash could switch only to one screen. I leanred a new thing , Flash just can not switch fullscreen on two screens, be it standalone/web.
Then I came across AIR , saw on some forums that with NativeWindow class you can pretty easily run a AIR app fullscreen on 2 different monitors. I thought awesome ! I installed Flash Develop and got started with AIR 3.7 SDK. when I ported my AS3 code for AIR app , came to know that the stageVideo does not work here (that was completely unexpected!). So Now I am confused which path to take as Flash can not go fullscreen on dual monitors, and AIR can not use stageVideo.
Any help will be appriciated. Thanks in advance.
Edit -
The StageVideo Class seems available , but it returns the stage.stageVideos.length as 0. Attached a StageVideoAvailabiliityEvent to stage but seems it never is available. Any other way to play HD Video ? Native flash.media.Video is not able to handle such big video.
Message was edited by: amitsarangiHello everyone,
I am new to the forums.
Am I the only person who has problem with video playback ?
I'm having problems with the latest nvidia driver and it seems that nobody wrote about it on the forums.. After installing the latest nvidia driver (169.07-1), the video playback with xv selected will be played in purple and blue colours.. Generally red will not be shown.. So human faces are colored with a combination of purple and blue.. Everything is normal on the other hand.. Sound works perfectly, the movie can be watched smoothly even on fullscreen.. With x11, all players can show the colors but...
1) The movie quality in Totem is very bad then...like the image is gathered together by 3x3 pixels..
2) mplayer shows everything fine but it can't get fullscreen..
I created a nautilus script for a workaround that let's me watch the movies with fullscreen using the -fs -zoom options..
But this problem is really annoying..1.0rc2, with some things disabled that are enabled in the Arch package (lirc, samba, and that live-media thing).
$ pacman -Qs mplayer
local/mplayer-custom 1.0rc2-1

I should probably also mention that I'm rolling my own kernel, and as such I'm not using the package from testing. Building it manually with the PKGBUILD from ABS though so it shouldn't be any difference though.

Dear All,
I’ve unfortunately encountered a problem with iTunes video playback after installing iTunes 10 (and now iTunes 10.1) on my new Dell computer. The computer has hardware which should run iTunes with no problems (dedicated video card, 4 GB ram and a nice screen), and has Windows 7 installed, with the newest BOIS (Dell Studio XPS 16).
My iTunes video though is faulty. TV Shows bought from iTunes run in a way that’s halting and really choppy. No other video plays this way on the computer, just in iTunes. And its much more exaggerated when the video is stretched to full screen or made larger in any way. Its unnoticeable if I make the video the size of a notecard on my computer. It makes video unwatchable if its full screen.
Anything I can do? Any ideas? I’ve followed all the suggestions in this article to no avail (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1718), except for the IDE step, which doesn’t seem to be an option on my computer?
Thank you for all your help. There have been reports of problems like this when iTunes has a big version jump.
I've not witness any problems that you have, I'm running on low power on battery and video still plays fine in iTunes, even fullscreen. My laptop is probably less powerful than yours is.
Problems like this seem to come about if there is a major software revision and the software isn't removed properly before installing a newer version.
Try http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923 this is how to completely remove iTunes to install a newer version. Best to do a backup first just in case. If that doesn't work, there is another way, but we'll try that one for now. -
Hello,
I previously had no problems playing videos in iTunes. Recently, however, video playback becomes choppy about 10 seconds in, while audio remains fine. This happens both with my own ripped videos and with iTunes Store videos, at 100% view (i.e., not fullscreen or anything). Looking at Activity Monitor, iTunes begins to eat up 90-105% CPU.
I only have a few apps running (e.g., Camino, iChat, Mail), and everything is responsive until iTunes starts chugging away, at which point my whole system slows down. Can anyone help shed some light on what is going on?I've been having the same problem on my G4. I created a second user account and noticed that videos play perfectly there, just not in my normal account. I'm now trying to troubleshoot from there to see if it's some third party thing or widget or something that is the cause. Maybe someone else could try the same thing - create another account and see if that solves the problem - then go back and try troubleshooting their regular account. This seems like it could be a solvable problem to me at this point. Please post your results.

[RANT]Flash video playback
Full screen flash video playback is much smoother in my virtualized Windows XP(qemu-kvm) compared to my native Arch setup(Radeon 4350, open ati drivers). This is flipping crazy. Why Adobe, why!?
It's pretty much universally accepted that this is Adobe's fault for not putting enough of an effort into Flash for Linux. I with that agree to a large extent - for a start they need to enable hardware acceleration as a top priority. I am running an Nvidia ION on an Atom 330 with x64; now, this thing should be able to play fullscreen SD video regardless, hardware acceleration or not - yet fullscreen flash still kills it, which is a real disappointment and the only think that sometimes makes me wish I had taken the windows 7 option (and I've been using Arch for over 6 years!)
That said, I don't think it is fair to put all the blame in Adobes court. The writers of flash video players have to do some answering too. For example, here in the UK the BBC iplayer plays fine in full screen for me - nice and smooth, while the Channel 4 player is unwatchable. Likewise for lots of flash video on the Internet, some are good and some are bad - all Adobes fault? I think not (although I'll give then 80% of the blame).
Here's is a great hack as a workaround though... Ignore conventional wisdom, enable composite extensions and install compiz-complete. Once you have it up and running enable the 'Zoom Desktop' plugin. Now you can draw a window around your in-browser video and Compiz will magically zoom it to full screen, and it will remain completely smooth (this is sort of a hardware acceleration hack I suppose!).
The down side is that you cannot interact with the player while it is zoomed in, but it removes the problem of slow video completely.
Score!
Dan.

Video playback "choppy" when play 2 full HD videos together
Hi,
Recently I have a project that is to have 2 full HD video playback on 2 full HD resolution monitors. I am using flex in Air by having 2 windows opened when the program is launched, auto fullscreen on both monitor and then play videos. The videos are in f4v format. But the problem is the video playback is "choppy" when playback 2 full HD video together. My development PC is Corei7 920 with Geforce GTS250. This project will actually runs on Corei7 2600 with intel graphic chipset PC which I haven't test on the performance.
How can I solve the "choppy" playback issue? Thanks.Flash Player full-screen video is an intensive process, but because it's running in a 32-bit environment it doesn't really help if the hardware has loads of extra RAM and multi-core processors. As you're using the decoupled version of the Acrobat Family, it only has an impact in terms of the decompression of the stream data when the annotation first activates.
What is the original video spec?
Are your rich media annotations set to deactivate automatically when the user moves to the next page? By default they deactivate only when the user context-clicks, so you can have a series of inactive-but-loaded instances fighting for attention. -
Can't hear recorded sound during video playback
I take a lot of videos of my kids. I have noticed lately that the volume is low or muffled...you can't hear what is being said even if they are screaming 6 inches away. I thought maybe something had gotten into the microphone, etc. I recorded a voice memo and on playback i could hear what was recorded just fine at a normal level. Now once I tried to record a video of my kids talking, it played back so low that i can't hear anything and that is with the volume turned wide open. Not really sure what this issue could be but if the volume works fine on voice memo wouldn't it work the same on video playback?
Hi there AmPriSi,
It sounds like you may be experiencing a microphone issue with your iPhone. Use the following article to help you address this issue:

Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.
Cheers,

I'm sure there are several people out there that are having the same or similar problems, but because I can't seem to find them with the exact problem I'm having, I thought a new thread would be appropriate....
Upgraded from 6 to 7 yesterday... music seems to play OK (not as good as 6, but not all the issues other people are having). Now video playback in iTunes is little more than a slideshow with audio to (almost) match.
When I go to play back any vid podcast, or other video in my library for that matter, iTunes bumps my processor up to 100% and holds it there, and the video does little more than skip and bounce through the entire playback (even if the overlay controls go away fully, the slightest mouse movement brings them back). The audio quality seems to almost follow the video, but they get away from each other (the audio was about 2 seconds ahead of the video/slide show while watching the current version of Photoshop TV). Any other video player works fine, but if I wanted to use them, I would have never installed iTunes in the first place, the idea being that the integration was the blessing.
I USED to be able to watch a video, use Photoshop CS2, have Flash 8 open behind it, After Effects running on a seperate monitor, browse the web, and play freecell all at the same time, with several background utility style apps going all at the same time with out a hickup.
After trying the IDE fix's, the sound setup fix's and any other fix's found in the discussions (and yes, reverting them after they failed to fix the problem), I'm still having an issue, and now I can't find iTunes 6 to try to get back to a good time in life... oh why oh why apple, why do you have just as many issues as windows? I had hoped for so much more....
Anyone? Any Ideas? Anyone willing to email me itunes 6 so I can get back to a better time in life? Or provide answers? I've got a horriable track record with apple (over 20 business stopping questions, and to date 0 responses) so I am about 2 minutes from giving up
Sorry apple, but this is way past frustrating... were all your win/tel beta testers using mac's?
HomeBuilt Windows XP Pro ATI 9700 Pro / AMD Athlon 64 3800+ / hampster on treadmill running his head off...Are sure that's not Flash needed for those videos?
