VideoBlocks

I recently signed up for video subscription service, VideoBlocks  www.videoblocks.com. I use AME to convert to FLV, works fine on all except the alpha MOV files. When adding MOV files-and they are huge 87MB- I get a file Import error "Source has no importable streams. Please check that its a valid video/audio file."   I reported the issue, was told to submit the particular issue to tec support- I've not heard a thing yet.
Ideas?

Just noted that VideoBlocks is offering a much smaller format for videos. I never got a reply from them concerning the "importable stream" issue.
I did use After Effects(Ae) to get some usable results with those troublesome videos-however, files were so big that render time (on just 4 gigs of ram) made it all but a waste of time...at my skill level. More skilled users of Ae might be better able to give advice if you are interested in or have that software.

  • Quicktime 10.4 isn't playing videoblock downloaded mov and mp4 files?

I have downloaded some clips from Videoblock.com but Quicktime won't open them.  When go to learn more, it says to
use Quicktime 7.  I am now using QT 10.4.  I am not sure what to do to access my clips.
Videoblocks is a well known well used site with a good reputation and I want to access these free
    clips.
    Can anyone help with this?
I don't want to download QT 7 and lose my QT 10.4.

Apple - Support - Downloads Download the version for 10.6.3, or later.
It installs in the Utilities folder and you can use two version of QuickTime Player.

  • Which VideoBlocks motion background format to download?

I just joined VideoBlocks.  I want to download some motion backgrounds to use in Premiere Pro CS5.5, but don't know how to decide which format to download:
    HD 1920x1080 @ 29.97fps
    MP4 H.264 (.mp4)
    21.42 MB
    or
    High Definition 1920x1080, 29.97fps, Photo-JPEG QuickTime file.
    294.46 MB
    are options for one file.
    HD 1920x1080 @ 29.97fps
    MP4 H.264 (.mp4)
    124.93 MB
    and
    Format: HD 1920x1080p, 30fps, H.264 QuickTime format
    124.92 MB
    are options for another file.
How do I decide which to use?

Personal choice, really.  I'm an avid hater of QuickTime, so I'd go for the MP4 files myself.  (It's nice that this site has that option.  Many will only offer QuickTime, which leaves me out as a potential customer.)

  • Videoblocks is having their $99/year special July 4th

This is not an ad. I don't work for them or sell through them, or get any special diiscounts. I am just trying to make sure that everyone knows that today is the day.
I signed up last Labor day, which was the last $99 special that they had. That is 90% off.
My problem is that I don't know if I should get a new account two months early to make sure I get the $99 special, or if I should wait and hope that they have another one next Labor Day (Monday, September 2).
If I miss the $99 special I can't justify paying full price as a hobbyist, and the best specials they normally have cost $89 for six months.
I would hate to waste two months of my subscription, but I really love the service. I don't use any of their video, but the After Effects templates and sound effects and music make my life so much easier. No more copyright hassles over music. I have a license that covers anything I want to use it for.
As for the Ae templates, that is where the YouTube intros I have been doing for people come from.
    Aaaarrrggghhh!!!
    Decisions, decisions!
However, if you have ever used any of the free downloads, you might want to take advantage of the 90% off special. Sorry, but I have no idea if the price is the same outside of the USA.   I was actually hoping they had overseas support people so I could get my answer today, even though it is a holiday in the USA.
    http://www.videoblocks.com
    Edit:
Enter code SPECIAL99 for 90% off

Yes, there are click through links. I didn't sign up to do that, but many others have.
But even so, some of the places I get the emails from, I trust, like Videoguys. Gary would not advertise something he didn't believe in. He doesn't have to as far as I can tell.
As for me, I use the site at least once every week. So the $99 was perfect. I didn't take them up on the offer because I have two months left on my subscription and I don't know if they will renew me at the same rate. In cease they don't, I will already have downloaded every Ae template, but there is no way to download all the music. It would take forever.
Much of the music comes in long versions with various 60 second and 30 second versions for commercials. I figure I can just download a bunch of the longer ones and trim them to taste later. Not as good, but probably OK. At least until the $99 offer comes around again.
I got so tired of trying to find free music. For the last 10 months it has been a real joy.
The only downside is that their support is less than stellar. But how much support does downloading files really require?

  • Rendering Chroma 4:2:2 with color space 0-255

    Hello Everyone.
Just as a warning I'm fairly new to video editing, so I will probably not say this right. I have a screen recording that I used FRAPS to collect, and then I packaged it into an .AVI container w/ a lararith codec , and a 24bit RGB color scheme in video dub. I have then opened and edited that video in Premiere Pro and want to export it. The problem that I'm having is screen recording has a LOT of color between 0-16 and 235-255, so any broadcast color space I use makes the video look awful. I was wondering if anyone knows how I can render out with a 0-255 color space and a decent chroma subsampling (my guess is 4:2:2).
Thank you everyone for your help.

No, you are asking the right question, and I understand your problem. I just can't recreate it.
I just took a really wild Quicktime video I downloaded from Videoblocks.com that isn't anywhere close to being broadcast safe, and I exported it to a Windows Media file.
The first picture is a screenshot from the video. (it is a set of lower thirds in one video - I am just supposed to use one at a time of course.
The second picture is the Reference monitor from frame 12;24
I exported the sequence to a Windows Media file and then imported it, putting it right on top of the other video on the sequence so I could make sure to be on the exact same frame. The third picture is the reference monitor from the WMV file on the sequence.  As you can see, there is not much difference. Some, but you have to look closely.
So, my question to you, since I do not use FRAPS, is what are your sequence setting? Did you just drop a clip on the New button to create a new sequence with the exact right settings? And, are you making the mistake of using the renders to help you export?
The problem is that I don't understand your source material. I guess I could download FRAPS from somewhere and give it a try? I am just a bit busy with other things today.

  • Adobe After Effects CC not converting all files from templates

Hello, I recently purchased Adobe After Effects CC, and i've been using Videoblocks.com for some After Effects templates. I've used them before on a different computer running AE CS6, and they work perfectly fine. However on my computer, it does not convert the files in order to be compatible with the CC Version, like this:
And when the project is opened, it appears like this:
As if the files never fully converted over, however some do? Any explanation on how I could fix this from not happening? Would greatly appreciate it.

Hey Mylenium, I reinstalled Quicktime and the problem still seems to be there. I'm not really certain what other Third-Party CoDec I should install/reinstall. It doesn't seem to retrieve some JPEG and PSD files, which I have Photoshop installed as well, so I don't exactly know what I should do.
I'm kind of new with the Creative Cloud, so apologies in advance, haha.

  • Video Clips from Internet

    Hey all!
I was blessed to recieve a free trial to a site called videoblocks.com where I can download videos to use for my project for a week. I'm trying to get the most out of the opportunity and get the videos I need in my project, but I need advice on the best format to work with. Here are my sequence settings for my project:
This window comes up when I download the clips from the site:
I've been downloading the MOV version, which seems to be working great. I'm just not sure if it will cause any problems later on. Should I convert it in Compressor or will the clips be fine?  The project will be shown at the local theater and sold on DVD.
    Thanks in advance!

either format will need to be converted to work propery in fcp. Not sure if h264 mp4's will convert using compressor (the best choice in my opinion) to prores 422.  If compressor doesn't work, use mpegstreamclip.
Pretty sure the photojpeg should convert in compressor to prores 422 without an issue.
If the clips have audio that you will be using make sure that the audio is converted to uncompressed 48k 16 bit.

  • How to avoid letterboxing & pillars in output of slide show as wmv movie in Premiere El 10?

I have created a slide show with both stills (using pan and zoom) and videos. Both in the Preview monitor in Premiere and in the exported movie I get letterboxes and pillars (black lines top and bottom, and on the sides). I know there is a lot going oh here, but here are a few relevant details.
    Premiere 10 - (64-bit)
    Running Win 7 Home Premium
Still images have various aspect ratios, but mostly I tried to keep to 1000x750 pixels for 4:3 aspect ratio
    Videos are 320x240
Output is to WMV (720p HD movie) - this is the only choice for a WMV movie and I cannot find ANY output that matches the 320x240 format of the videos.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
This is my first post in the forum. I did search the previous discussions, as I'm sure this has been discussed befor, but found nothing.
Please forgive if I'm in the wrong poace or any other stuff like that.
    Thank you

Thank you both for your replies - very helpful.
This was/is an attempt to put together a demo for a project, to be shown on a computer. - by someone who obviously did not know what he was doing, namely, me.
Can you tell it was my first attempt?
Yes, the preset was DV 48kHz, which is apparently 4:3, right?
The tiny video is what I was given to work with (from VideoBlocks) Maybe not a good idea to even try. The still images were various sizes and I resized them to 1000x750, on a recommendation from someone on how to get good 4:3 resolution. So that was not such a good idea either.
Since then, I have tried a couple of experiments.
BUT, I just tried a new video with images resized in Photoshop to 1280x720, with the preset at DV widescreen and output at 720p HD. Hey - it is almost a success. The letterboxes and pillars are negligible - about 1/8 of an inch.  Thank you both so much.
So would you insist on higher quality video to work with?  I have until next Wednesday. Lots of time. Sounds like there is not much hope for using the 320x240 video.
Thanks very much for your suggestions and patience.

  • Photoshop CS5 Video issues. NEED Help ASAP

I created a video using Adobe Photoshop CS5. In Photoshop, the video is crisp and clear. After I export the video into an "MP4 H.26 Best quality 30 or 48 fps 1920x1080 HD" video, part of the video looks clear, but as soon as the movement occurs, the picture becomes pixilated. I've tried everything that I can think of. I have a still picture in the back ground. There is rain coming down from the top, an object moves across the bottom, and another object "floats" in the air (little up and down movement). Before the rain comes down, everything is clear. Even after the rain (I created) comes down, the movement across the bottom is clear (a video loop from videoblocks.com). But after the rain starts to come down, the still background image (I created) begins to look pixilated, and the "floating" object (Icreated) becomes blurry as well. At first I thought it had something to do with the way I had the rain come down...but in Photoshop, the playback is very clear. Does anybody have any idea how i can save this video without it looking this way? I need an answer ASAP, PLEASE.
    Thank you!!!!

I gave the settings I used in exporting the Adobe Photoshop CS5 video. I want to know how I should change my settings. I may be creating the video all wrong or using the wrong product. I had a photoshop file with layers. I wanted the rain to fall out of the sky, so i made a video with the raindropd falling at a tween of 20 and I had like 380 frames after that. I could figur out how to get another layer to  move at a different pace, so I exported the video (many times until i could get it as clear as possible). Then i added the video back in, and added in another layer (the one that was floating in the sky). No matter which setting I used to export the video, it wasn't as crisp as I was looking for. I exported the video and iserted it back in for the movement across the bottom. That came out really clear (but it came from http://videoblocks.com). Do you or anyone else know which is the best settings for me to use in Photoshop CS5? Or is there another program i could use to makke clear videos?
I want the video to be as original as possible.

  • How can I download a song without automatically launching/putting it into iTunes?

How can I download a song without automatically launching/putting it into iTunes? I download my royalty-free music from VideoBlocks and it automatically launches iTunes and plays the song in iTunes. I just want to save it to a location without going through iTunes. How do I do so?

Open your web browser's preferences and set it not to automatically open safe files. If you're using Safari, this option is in the General tab.

  • I am looking for a (relatively) cost effective virtual news studio that does not look too cartoonish

I am looking for a (relatively) cost effective virtual news studio that does not look too cartoonish. Can anyone recommend a website or software they have used?
    Any help much appreciated

I don't know how you would feel about the quality, because I have never actually used one, but there is usualy a free 7 day trial of Video Blocks and they have 100 virtual sets available. You can download as many as 20 per day with the trial. So you have enough time in a week to get them all. But don't forget to check out the music section for your news intro. And some lower thirds.
    https://www.videoblocks.com/freeclips/
I have to warn you that I got so wrapped up in the site that when they offered a huge discount I took them up on their offer. IIRC it was around $100 for one year instead of ten times that much.

  • Troubleshooting Ipad Imovie export problem

I made a short music video in Imovie and it won't export at all. I have done a few other projects without any issues. When I try to export it to camera or youtube it just sticks on "export" and won't progress. No error message is given. There was a recent Imovie app update, and this is the only project I have done. However, I tried to save an older project, that was not as video intensive, and it exported just fine. The project is only about 3 minutes long. All of the video was downloaded as mp4s from videoblocks.com.

  • AE CS6:  AEGP Pro Import Error (5027 :: 12)

I'm trying to open an Apple Motion project in After Effects.  I'm using ProImport, it recognizes the file but before loading it I get an error message that says the following:
(5027 :: 12)  After Effects Plugin Pro Import:  "Fatal Internal AAF/OMF/XML error.  Please contact customer support." *0:1134) (5027 :: 12)
And then it doesn't import anything.
Any ideas as to what I need to make this work?  Is this a known bug?

I'm importing the .motn file based upon this tutorial:
    https://www.video2brain.com/en/lessons/using-pro-import-after-effects-for-projects-from-ot her-applications
I downloaded it from VideoBlocks.  They don't say specifically what version of Motion it is, but they do say the following:
Requires Apple Motion 5 or higher. No additional software or plugins required.
    29.1 MB
Here's a link to the file in question:

I haven't imported a .motn file before, but according the forums and the afore mentioned tutorial AE CS6 shouldn't be a problem.

  • How can I import a downloaded title?

I downloaded several titles from videoblocks.com and would like to know if I can download it to iMovie. Any ideas?

You can easily import the titles by using File/Import Movie...
But the problem will be getting Text into your Titles. There are not multiple layers in iMovie like there are in Final Cut Pro.
The built-in iMovie Titles have text boxes. But I don't know how to add a title to an imported title. The workaround would be to figure out where you need the text, and create a .png slide in Photoshop, Acorn, or Pixelmator (or photo editor of your choice) that puts the text where you need it. Then drag this photo on top of your title as a Cutaway.
In Final Cut Pro X with Motion, this is much more straightforward.
