View Link SQL

Hi,
We have, on default views, defined view links based on the associations between EOs.
More spesific views extend these default views and use the view links extensively.
The problem is that we need the rows retrieved through the VL to be in a specific order.
Is it at all possible to specify the order-by clause for the link?
Sung has posted a sorting routine on his blog - but is this the only way?
Thanks.

Hitesh,
This a very generic case and happens when the source VO join attribute and destination VO join attribute are not of same type, i.e. data type and data length. Make sure that is happening in your case, this will solve your problem.

  • Must view links dataTypes match ?

    master.AttribXXX - String
    Detail.AttribYYY - Date
    if I edit the view link as follows i get an error can someone tell me why?
    view link sql :
    bindAttribXXX = to_char(AttribYYY, 'YY-MM');

    I've had links to internal pages default to the top page or "one of my pages". I've had to redo them on occasion with the Hyperlink Inspector pointing the to the correct page.
    I publish to MobileMe and have published the site to MMe, visited each page, copied the full ULR and used it for the hyperlink. Doing it that way has never slipped back to "one of my pages".

  • SQL-Only Many-to-Many View Links?

    Hi,
    ADF, BC4J, Jdeveloper 10.1.3
    I am working on a reporting system that contains a number of reports on tables that are linked with many-to-many relationships.
    So for example, I have a COMPANIES table that is linked through an intermediate table to a CENTRES table. COMPANIES is also linked in a similar way to VOLUNTEERS. All these links are many-to-many.
    From the companies report page, one can see the centres associated with that company, and vice versa. I would like these to be displayed as clickable links that take the user through to the report page for that table...
    What is the best way to do this?
    Because I am only reporting on these tables (no updates), I have created SQL-only view objects. I thought that View Links might be a good way of listing the associated rows and setting the appropriate row for the reports page when the user clicks a link, but I cant see a way of implementing a view link on a many-to-many relationship between sql-only views.
    Is this possible? Or am I approaching this in the wrong way?
    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Alex.

  • View link creation on two view objects, and both view objects are populated program(not from sql)

    I have master and detail VO , both views data is loaded in program. Now for show/hide feature, I create View Link Object and using one element from both child and master VO , View Link Object created properly.
    But I can not able to add that view link object into AM.
    Now because of that , I cannot say what is a instance name of that view link object.
    Hence getting following error  -- Invalid or missing view link. Please attach view link with the bean.
    Please can you provide some directions.

  • View Link on two programmatic view objects

    Hello,
    I use Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.1.0_GENERIC_090615.0017.5407
    I have two programmatic View Objects with data from other sources (an ArrayList in my example).
    Now I would like to create a View Link on it. How can I do this?
    I'm quite new on Java and ADF...
    I know it is possible because I already found Steve's example 132 here [http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/|http://blogs.oracle.com/smuenchadf/examples/]
    But could somebody create a simple example based on my example classes below (which is understandable for a newbie like me ;-) ?

    Rolf,
    I guess when we try to do it for you, we end up with almost the sample code provided by Steve Muench.
    So there from my point of view it doesn't make sense to do it all over.
    Take some time and study the sample code, run it without changes and after that try some changes which suits your use case better.
    If you don't understand what's going on in the sample post the question here and we try to help you.

  • View Links for Programmatic View Objects

    Hi All,
    I created a read only VO called MyVO based on a sql query.
    I created 2 programmatic view objects, MasterView and ChildView.
    In a custom method in AMImpl class ,I iterate through this MyVO resultset and get the rows in a Row object.
    Based on some attributes values of the Row, I populate both master and child View Objects.
    I have created a view link between Master and Child Programmatic View Objects and have exposed them in AM.
    Now I run the AM, and run the method exposed in client interface.
    Now I click on my master and child programmatic views.
    I see that the rows are populated in both of these programmatic VOs.
    But when I click on viewlink which I have exposed under master, it doesnt show me any
    record for child.
    This is my method of AMImpl which is exposed in AM client interface.
    public void constructLines(){
    ViewObject vo= this.getMyVO1();
    ViewObject master=this.getTransientVO1();
    ViewObject child=this.getTransientLineVO1();
    Row r,masterRow,childRow;
    int count=0;
    while(vo.hasNext()){
    ++count;
    r=vo.next();
    masterRow = master.createRow();
    if(r.getAttribute("QuoteHeaderId")!=null)
    masterRow.setAttribute("QuoteHeaderId",
    r.getAttribute("QuoteHeaderId").toString());
    if(r.getAttribute("QuoteLineId")!=null)
    masterRow.setAttribute("QuoteLineId",
    r.getAttribute("QuoteLineId").toString());
    if(r.getAttribute("LineNumber")!=null)
    masterRow.setAttribute("LineNumber",
    r.getAttribute("LineNumber").toString());
    master.insertRow(masterRow);
    childRow= child.createRow();
    if(r.getAttribute("RefLineId")!=null)
    childRow.setAttribute("RefLineId",
    r.getAttribute("QuoteLineId").toString());
    if(r.getAttribute("QuoteHeaderId")!=null)
    childRow.setAttribute("QuoteHeaderId",
    r.getAttribute("QuoteHeaderId").toString());
    child.insertRow(childRow);
    This is stopping me from my development progress.
    Any suggestion to solve this will be of great help.
    Thanks,
    Prabhanjan

    Hi..
    have you define relationship correctly between masterVO and childVO.sometime there may be the problem.

  • View links in multi table relations

    Is it advisable (in terms of performance e. g.), to create view links and view objects as local variables in multi table relations?
    examle: the jdev online help says to use
    such multi table relations like this:
    // A (one) -> B (many) -> C (many)
    ViewLink a2b = appMod.findViewLink("AtoB");
    ViewLink b2c = appMod.findViewLink("BtoC");
    ViewObject aV = a2b.getSource();
    ViewObject bV = a2b.getDestination();
    ViewObject cV = b2c.getDestination();
    while(aV.hasNext())
    Row aR = aV.next();
    while(bV.hasNext())
    Row bR = cV.next();
    while(cV.hasNext())
    Row cR = cV.next();
    I would rather keep everything concerning
    a, b, c together, especially when more
    tables (d, e, ...) are added, like this
    ViewLink a2b = appMod.findViewLink("AtoB");
    ViewObject aV = a2b.getSource();
    while(aV.hasNext())
    Row aR = aV.next();
    ViewLink b2c = appMod.findViewLink("BtoC");
    ViewObject bV = a2b.getDestination();
    while(bV.hasNext())
    Row bR = cV.next();
    ViewObject cV = b2c.getDestination();
    while(cV.hasNext())
    Row cR = cV.next();
    Is there anything to say against this approach (in term of performance for example). I am not sure to remeber,
    if this was the approach used in the HotelResevationSystem example.
    Thanks.

    For this to work you have to either build a view based on the entities from which you need attributes (joined by the FK) or build a ViewObject with the sql statement giving you all the attributes you need.
    The first case enables you the edit the attributes, the second gives you read only access to the attributes.
    What you try to do isn't a master-detail connection, you are doing a join of some tables.

  • Error when Setting value to Bind variable in View Link used in HGrid

    Hi
    I have requirement to pass profile id as bind variable, I have created a VO based on below Query.
    select 'N' Is_Selected, 'N' Is_Already_Selected, 'N' Is_Selected_Copy, a.*
    from XXPA_STATE_CONST_DTLS_V a, xxpa_state_const_dtls b
    where a.child_id = b.child_id(+)
    and b.profile_id(+) = :1
    View Link Query that is being generated is
    SELECT * FROM (select 'N' Is_Selected, 'N' Is_Already_Selected, 'N' Is_Selected_Copy, a.*
    from XXPA_STATE_CONST_DTLS_V a, xxpa_state_const_dtls b
    where a.child_id = b.child_id(+)
    and b.profile_id(+) = :1) QRSLT WHERE PARENT_ID = :Bind_ChildId
    it Shows Errors as
    ## Detail 0 ##
    java.sql.SQLException: Missing IN or OUT parameter at index:: 1
    could anyone tell what could be the wrong. Do we need to set bind variable in view link Explicitly? or any other alternative.
    Its very Urgent.
    Regards
    Vimal

    Hi,
    I have faced similar problem some time ago. I could not find any solution except removing bind parameters in where clause. I tried to change binding style but it also didn't work. I think the problem is caused by view link's where clause.

    Hello John,
    Thanks for the reply. I can't find any material so that I can aware with JSF introduction (with demos) and ADF Faces. So will you please suggest me some tutorial or demos related to JSF and ADF faces. I passed through the video demos of Oracle ADF homepage but still I can't understand the use of those tags.

  • Create view link between two view objects (from programmatic data source)

    Hi Experts,
    Can we create a link between two view objects (they are created from programmatic datasource ; not from either entity or sql query). If yes how to create the link; ( i mean the like attributes?)
    I would also like to drag and drop that in my page so that i can see as top master form and the below child table. Assume in my program i will be only have one master object and many child objects.
    Any hits or idea pls.
    -t

    Easiest way to do this is to add additional transient attributes to your master view object, and then include those additional transient attributes in the list of source attributes for your view link. This way, you can get BC4J to automatically refer to their values with no additional code on your part.

  • View Link Bind variable issue

    All,
    I have a view link defined which and both the VO are part of my AM.
    At run time i am supposed to get the list of notes for a particular line. (the view link establishes this connection). However when i run my application i am not getting any records. Below SQL is getting fired for each request
    SELECT * FROM (SELECT note_type_meaning, note_status_meaning, creation_date, created_by_name,
           notes, row_id, jtf_note_id, notes_detail_size, entered_by,
           source_object_id, source_object_code, note_type, note_status, CONTEXT,
           attribute1, attribute2, attribute3, attribute4, attribute5, attribute6,
           attribute7, attribute8, attribute9, attribute10, attribute11,
           attribute12, attribute13, attribute14, attribute15, created_by,
           entered_date, last_updated_by, last_update_date, last_update_login
      FROM apps.ast_notes_details_vl
    WHERE source_object_id = :bLeadNumber) QRSLT  WHERE SOURCE_OBJECT_CODE = :Bind_LeadNumber
    <logQueryStatementAndBindParameters> BindVars:(bLeadNumber=null,Bind_LeadNumber=23040400)OK, the above sql is used to get the count but i am a bit lost as to why the bind variable is taking value at only one place.
    Please advise

    Sorry for this stupid post.

  • View Link Issue

    Hi Guys,
    I have 2 (SQL Query's) VO's with primary key -foriegn key relation for the underlying tables
    but when i create a VL the view link query dosent showup correctly ... is it necessary to have
    VO's based on Eo's for view links to work properly ?
    Thanks
    Tom...

    Tom,
    In case of VO based on plain sql queries u won't get <SourceVO>.sourceattr u will simple get sourceattr
    It seems something is wrong on some other side, by the way whats the difference ur getting in result of vl created on VO based on EO and not based on EO?

  • Error with view link and ADF table Tree

    Hello
    ( Note: View objects are created based on static data but not from database tables)
    I created two view objects "SuiteViewObject" and "FamilyViewObject" which are based on static data( stored in collection) but not on database entity. A veiw link "SuiteFamilyViewLink" is created from the above two view objects. An ADFTreeTable is created from the above view objects and view link. When run the jspx page containing ADFTreeTable, following error is occured in the browser.

    Any help on the above error message.?

    Hello
    The above error is coming becuase view link's SQL query expects tables. But in my case I dont have tables, view objects are created from static data source(collection).
    How to create a view link from view objects which are created based on static data source(collection)?
