View on a DB Link Error

Hi,
I've created a view using a database link. If I select three columns in the view, then go to SQL Workshop/Object browser, I can see the table structure. When I click on "Data", I see the data. If I add more columns to the view, I get the following error when I click on "Data".
Does anyone know what can cause this?

Thanks. The view is using the DB Link. I've created new views, but it follows the same patterrn - when I add more than three columns, I get that error. I could create several views that have three columns each but that will get very messy.
Does anyone have an idea of what is causing this problem or another way of creating a report/form on this "external" database?

Works in 2009, Link errors in 2013 SP1

I have a system that runs rack mount test instruments. I have a system DLL that performs different generic functions for me and also included custom driver functions for the instrumentation. This DLL is built and the different driver .h/.fp files and the system DLL library file are distributed. The distributed files are included in various test projects.
This approach has worked for the last 2 years using CVI2009. I recently started trying to use CVI2013 SP1. The system DLL still builds with no errors. However, my various test DLL that use the distributed files, now compile fine, but have Undefined symbol link errors. The link errors point to functions and structures that are global to the system DLL, but weren't meant for exported use by the test DLLs. The files the link errors call out are .obj files for a couple of different system drivers that are located in the build folder that CVI created. Anyone experienced anything like this while upgrading to CVI2013?

I think it might be worth checking that you have your library set to a dynamically linked library. The behavior you are receiving seems akin to changing a dynamically linked library to a statically linked library. This could happen automatically in an upgrade. I am getting the SAME ERROR again..... user is existing it has all the rights ...but when I run the interface I am getting the Error in the first step when it tries to create a View .........I tried skipping the first step ..it failed in synonymn creations ....

Broken link error message

I get an error message whenever I click "help with this widget." It tells me that the link (to Adobe help??) is broken and that I must send an email. But it doesn't tell me where to send the email, or to whom. I desperately need help with this widget and am frustrated by the broken link.

Hi ,
I am getting the Same DB link ~Error again. I have granted all the access to the particular schema.
In the first step itself Interface getting failed...!!!!
Step 1. Create view view on source.
When I run an SQL query using DB link , DB link work fine. ( I had a doubt whether the DB link is an issue )
Any advice on this !!

I have heard of Solaris C++ compilers having problem with the use of templates..... is this the problem here or am I just missing some arguments/libraries?

In the interest of keeping code examples short and simple, textbook authors do things in their code examples that are not suitable for real-world applications. Apart from "using namespace std", you find global variables and functions with short names, and no attention paid to error detection or recovery. (They also use more explanatory comments in the code than a real-world program should have.)
That's OK when you are illustrating particular language points. You want to highlight the point, and not have a lot of distractions. But in my view, not enough authors go on to explain good programming practice, and show realistic examples.
For the case in point, the Standard Library declares thousands of names. They are in namespace std to help avoid collisions with user-defined names. Once you put "using namespace std" into your code, you import all of those names into the global namespace, creating opportunities not only for compiler complaints due to name collisions, but for subtle errors involving binding symbols to the standard library that you expected to refer to your own definitions.
I never write "using namespace std" in real code. I sometimes use it when creating tiny test cases for bug reports. But as you saw in my earlier comments, the difference in the sample program between a dangerous programming practice and a much better programming practice was one line of code!

On a newly installed compiler, Visual Studio 2013, I get some linker error:

after installing tuxedo, and compiled the simpapp application, started the service toupper as described. i faild with the simpcl.exe. it the ordinal number 14 is missing in the LIBFML.dll. could anyone please tell mit the propper link settings.

Linker Error during compiling ODBC WinCE C++_Sample Project

I am devloping a ODBC application for PocketPC2003 using OLite 10g Release 10.3.0.2. before that i am understanding the sample application provided with Olite.
I followed all the instructions provided in ReadMe.txt file available before using VC++ sample. After making all the settings and compiling i am getting following linker errors as mentioned below.

The broken link error

Hi,
Please help me with this broken link error in Office Excel 2010. Thank you.
The problem is: a broken link cannot be removed from the file. The link was used in data validation, which refers to a list of values. After the path was corrected, it still shows there’s a broken link. Here are the details:
I have 4 files named “000TVA_Test – 3”, “000TVA_Test – 4”, “000TVA_Test – 5”, and “000TVA_Test – 6”. The posterior files were developed based on the previous files.
In Test-3, sheet “Template “, cell “L4”, “O4”, “R4”… were built as dropdown list using data validation. The list source is in the “Library” worksheet. There’s no problem so far.
Test-4 was firstly copied from Test-3. In this file I renamed the worksheet from “Library” to “Setting” and the link was broken from here. I can also fix the broken link in this file. (While I didn’t realize there was a broken link.)
In Test-5 I fixed the path, but every time when opening the file, the broken link still shows.
In Test-6 I’ve removed the data validations. The broken link is still there.
I tried to find solutions online. I tried common methods, cannot find anything in the files is still using links. I also tried the “findlink.xla” add-in, but it only worked for Test-4, and couldn’t find the link in other files.
Please help. Thank you!

Based on my tested the files downloaded, I found that Test-5 & Test-6 included the "A defined name that refers to an external workbook", Test-4 had not. (Please click Formula Tab>Name Manage, you'll see them.)
However, the Break Links command cannot break the following types of links:
A defined name that refers to an external workbook
A ListBox control with an input range that refers to an external workbook.
A DropDown control with an input range that refers to an external workbook.

Thus, we'd better try the workaround： re-build the Test-5 & Test 6.

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores and sifnout and sign back in
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

Running a query in a View Designer results in an error, but running the same query in a Query window works

Hi everyone,
Just as my title says, I have a query which I've written in a query window and it works perfectly.
But when I try to add the query code into the view designer, it throws a Syntax error.
Error in ON clause near '('.Unable to parse query text.
Also, when running the query from the view designer (pressing red exclamation mark) I get a different error.
SQL Execution Error.Executed SQL statement: SELECT Sku, ParentSku, UPC, ...Error Source: .Net SqlClient Data ProviderError Message: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding.
Has anyone else experienced this and is there any workaround?
I have tried to create the view with T-SQL (CREATE VIEW etc.), but when opening it in the view designer I get the error from the 1st image.

Hi Radu,
Yes, I have faced similar issue. I had a View and it was working totally fine but when once I opened it in via right click - View Design, it was giving parse error.
Cause is that Query designer parse and executes the query without error but the way View designer works, it can't parse it.
Later I ignored View desinger and just used T-SQL like CREATE/ALTER view.
Workaround is to do right click on View - Script View as - CREATE To/ ATER To.
Regarding Timeout error, again the issue with View designer which couldn't execute query in there and ended up with timeout error.
If your SELECT query and SELECT * FROM YourView works fine in Query designer, you are good to go.
