"View only" Calendar has alerts for invitees (but shouldn't)

I am sharing a calendar with my wife that's basically my work schedule. Because I don't want her making any edits, I've shared it as a "View Only" calendar. The odd thing, however, is that some of the events on her end have alerts, while they don't mine. I've tried everything I can think of, including removing her and then reinviting her, but no matter what, event "X" on her end has a 2-day alert set while on my end (and across all my devices" the alert setting is "none." This is proving to be an issue because it's a recurring event.
Any help is appreciated.

I think things may have straightened themselves out. I basically went back through all the troubleshooting steps again and this time something must have clicked. iCloud, I hate/love you.

  • Opening a shared "view only" Keynote in Keynote for iOS ?

    I've shared a keynote with co-workers and given them view-only access.  It really needs to be viewed either on a Mac or in Keynote for iOS so that it retains it's audio soundtrack and it's animations.  My co-workers don't have Macs, but they do all have staff iPads.  When I send them a link to share the view-only keynote, it tries to direct them to a Safari tab and iCloud. 
    Is there a way for them to open a view-only Keynote in the Keynote app for iOS?  That's the only way they can see it with the designed animations and audio.

    I figured it out and they DO play the background soundtrack on the iPad.
    These were files created in Keynote 5.3 (iWork '09).  However, since that version doesn't allow sharing to iCloud, I made a copy of the file and opened it in Keynote 6.2 (newest version).  I shared it to iCloud as view-only.
    When you click on the emailed link to the shared document, it opens a page in Safari on the iPad.  This page includes a download link.  Once you wait for the download process to finish, the normal "Open in. . ." popup (overlay at the top) appears on the Safari page and it then allows you to open the presentation in Keynote for iOS.  This plays the file AND the background soundtrack.  One of the presentations had an iTunes playlist as the background soundtrack.  Another presentation had a "recorded narrative".  Both files played with their audio intact.

    To do this you will need to go to Settings>Notifications>Do Not Disturb and from there sellect "Allow Calls From" to everyone. This will mean that if you schedule Do Not Disturb at Night time, only Calls will make alerts and ring whereas other notifications will be silenced.

    Your phone already has a micro SIM card in the device so it can connect to the VZW network. You will need an international plan from VZW if you intend to use that SIM card. Otherwise you can get a new SIM card from the local carrier and setup the phone for global use with a separate APN with that carrier's specific information.

  • Sound has stopped for firefox but works on other browsers! Why?

    I no longer have sound with the Firefox browser. Sound works for other browsers (Chrome, Safari, I.E.) but not for FF. I looked in options, plug ins, etc. I have done everything I could to get the sound to work again to no avail. This all started after the latest update for FF. Please help>

    There are a few different things that might be causing your issue. Have you looked at the Knowledge Base article [[No sound in Firefox]]? It has a lot of good information that might help you.

  • Calendar shows dot for event, but no event scheduled

    For the month of Nov 07, my calendar shows a dot every day, indicating that an event is scheduled, even on the days when no events are scheduled. I've made sure outlook calendar is correct and synced repeatedly, yet the dots are still there. I've tried clicking on the days that erroneously show a dot, hoping I could delete an event, but no event displays. This happened before and after the latest update. Any help is appreciated.

    When I click on the day it says "No Events".
    I have people's birthday's that occur every year if that's what you mean by reoccurring, but who doesn't have that in their calendar?
    I can take the date back to 1997 to way before I started entering appointments and it still shows the "dots".
    The things I've read explain the "dots" mean I have an appointment on that day.
    I appreciate the help so far. Solving this would be a great improvement for my calendar!

  • Apple ID has changed for Itunes but not for the App store?

    So I got the iPhone 4s off my dad, and I knew that I would have to change the apple ID to download apps and music etc
    So I changed it, and when I go on to settings it says that it's my ID that is signed in and when I download music everythings fine
    However when I try to update twitter on the app store it's asking for the password to my dads apple ID? It's only on updates though because I downloaded a game perfectly...

    They should be the same - assuming that you used the same ID to buy the apps that you are using to update the apps - you should be able to update them. You use the same Apple ID and iTunes account for iTunes media purchases and for app store Purchases. If for some reason the password isn't working try this.
    Go to Settings>Store>Apple ID. Make sure that the ID is correct on the iPad. If the ID is correct but it is not being recognized - sign out of the account, restart the iPad and then sign in again
    Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
    Then go to Settings>Store>and sign into your account again and see if you can download now.

    hello i have a problem my ipod it is connected to the internet but it does not let me go onine. I am able to go online at hotspots and ather places but not at home .I have been trying to get it to work by going to a place were i can reset my network settings on the ipod but it no help me get online  . Could it be my router i don't think it is because i have had my ipod online before this had happened ofor about 4 months the ipod you could say is new because i got the item for christmas can you help me at all. PS  i hav restored it too see if it as  a applaction and i hav loads of space on my ipod.

    That happened to me, if you are with bt,the connection for wifi is down in some certain areas due to a technical fault. I came back online yesturday. Im afraid (IF THAT IS THE PROBLEM) you will have to wait.

  • SCOM 2012 - how to setup alerts for specific IT groups.

    Hello everyone - I have seen a few similar questions but never any specific answers.
    Our IT department is split up in teams.  We have a Database team - Exchange Team - SharePoint Team - Web Team and others.
    We currently run around 650 Servers for the department.  Exchange team for example will need to get alerts off of their 12 Exchange servers.  SharePoint team will need alerts off of say 22 servers and etc...
    Is there "Anyway" to make sure they only get the alerts for their servers?
    I recently setup a new group for our Web Team and they are getting SharePoint, Exchange, DPM and other alerts which they do not need to be getting.  Also I have noticed from this that the SharePoint and Exchange teams are not even getting all their
    alerts since apparently we had to refine them so much so as not to get other alerts (thus causing them to miss many).  SCOM seems like a great package but it falls very short (from my limited experience with it so far) in being able to really customize
    alerts for IT environments.
    Can you enable a group to get all alerts for a specific group of servers?
    SharePoint uses IIS, Database, Windows OS etc....  If I set it up for this it gets all IIS, Database servers when I only want them to see the 22 servers - if I restrict it down then they miss alerts.  Sorry repeating myself now -

    Yes you can. In Authoring, Group, create groups with the servers, e.g create an Exchange Group with all 12 Exchange servers. In Adminstration, Notifications, Subcricptions, create a subscription and in the "raised by any instance in a specific group" select
    the group (Exchange servers)

  • GRC 5.3 Access Control - Critical Alerts for permissions

    We have successfully configured alerts for transactions, but we have not been able to generate any alerts to indicate when a user executes the transaction and makes a change. 
    Should the risk containing the function be saved as Critical Action or Critical Permission?
    How should the auth object be added to the function?
    I have noticed when adding a transaction to a function 5.3 does not import the auth objects like VIRSA backend clients.  Is this correct or was something missed in the configuration?
    Any help is appreciated.

    Hi Pablo,
         AC 5.3 release will have it's first anniversary in second half of 2009 and it is far better product than AC 5.2. Trust me, and go with AC 5.3, you won't be disappointed. Products in AC 5.2 are very restrictive and you will get frustrated with RE for sure.
        The recommendations you provided came out of installation guide and other documents. These requirements are ok but I would not recommend you to go with them. Insted, it would be better to go through the sizing guiding and size your server accordingly.
       SAP used to have AC 5.2 sizing guide but they have removed it from SMP as they have replaced it with sizing guide for AC 5.3. Here is the link to the guide:

  • Continuing alerts for iCal Events after canceling

    Hello everyone,
    I suspect what I'm about to describe is a bug, but hopefully I'm wrong and there is a setting for this. For any iCal Events I have, which are typically listed as all day events, I get continual reminder notifications even after CANCELLING.  Anyone seeing this?  Is there a way to stop it or do you think this is a bug. 
    FYI, I do have calendar turned on for iCloud, but not reminders.  This happens on both my Macbook Pro and my iMac. 

    OK...I've found the culprit and an easy workaround.  First, Desktop Manager for Mac is the problem.  If you set any event alert reminders in iCal to "Message and Sound" you'll get both the message and the sound on your Mac, but Desktop Manager for Mac mangles this somehow when the event is synched to the BB.  The event makes it over, but when the event is selected on the BB and opened, the alert is set to "None".
    To fix this, simply change all event alert reminders in iCal to "Message" (without the sound) and re-sync using Desktop Manager now the events on your BB have the same alert parameters as in iCal and their alerts now popup when scheduled and they have an audible sound.
    Come on, RIM...Mac users deserve better than this.  It took you 12 years to get us a real (well almost real) Desktop Manager, so now give it the same features as you provide in the Windows Desktop Manager.  But since I know nothing in this forum ever makes it to RIM...we'll have to hope they figure this out on their own.

    Hi.. I have TWO email accounts on iPhone Mail. I want ONLY one to sound an alert upon receiving new messages. The Sound Option for Mail applies to all accounts. Is there a way to get around that and just alert for the account desired?

    There is no setting to change that, unless you choose to have the second account set to manual for fetching mail. If it is set to manual and the other account, the one you wish to receive the alert for is set to fetch, then it would emulate only receiving the alert for one account. It is a generic alert that sounds when you receive mail.
    While not necessarily what you were looking for, it is a workaround.

    Have you tried to Enable and Disable Restrictions? Go to Settings > General > Restrictions.
