Viewing and sending attachments with gmail

I have the gmail app installed and can not view or send attachments. If I use the BB email it works fine.
Anyone know how to get the gmail app to manage attachments or is this not possible with gmail app?
Thanks

Hi there!
Nope -- that's one of the functions that is not available via the GMail add-on app. I think it can receive attachments just fine and that you can view (and save, etc.) them. And I think you can forward a message you received that had an attachment and the attachment will go along with it. But you cannot initiate a new message and place an attachment to it. If you like the GMail app, what you can do is create a BIS profile for that account, but configure it to not deliver do your BB...you can then use that to send from your GMail with attachments.
Cheers!

  • Cannot Sending attachments with GMail

    I have an Ipod Touch 4th gen 32gig. I am able to send and receive e-mails from anyone with this mail program and my gmail account. However, I am not able to send e-mails with attachments. Upon sending a phot to someone, the e-mail went to my gmail Outbox and simply stayed there. In order to send it, I had to go into the outbox, click on edit and then clicked on send. Then it went. Help. I have the latest software installed 4.2.1 on my Ipod Touch and the latest ITunes software if that helps anyone.

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
    Try updating to iOS 4.3.1, which is now the latest software. If the problem persists, try restarting your iPod by holding down the home and sleep/wake buttons until the Apple logo appears.
    Hope this helps!

  • When sending attachments in Gmail in FF, my internet connection breaks

    When I try to send an attachment of any type in gmail in Firefox as a browser the attempt stalls, fails and then my internet connection breaks. I've googled this and no one else seems to have this issue. It seems local to my desktop and I've reinstalled FF and tried the beta for 4.0 and it still happens without fail.
    It doesn't matter what kind of attachment or size, this happens when I try to send attachments in Gmail.

    For what it's worth, I've seen this exact problem from Internet Explorer 8:
    <br><br>
    1. start a new email at the Gmail site in the web browser<br>
    2. click "attach a file"<br>
    3. select a file in the file dialog box & click OK<br>
    4. network connection immediately drops. (I've been pinging Google in the background and the ping gets interrupted exactly when I click OK."<br>
    5. Network connection is down until I go through the Windows 7 "repair network connection" procedure. Apparently the network gateway is lost.<br>
    When this happened, I tried attaching the same file to an email using a *different* Gmail account, and it worked. <br><br>
    I think this is either a problem with the ISP (Earthlink / Timewarner) or Google. I don't think IE or Firefox is causing the problem.

  • Sending attachments with emails in Javamail

    I'm trying to send attachments with emails using Javamail. Following is the code through which I'm trying to achieve that. It works as expected on a JRE1.6 environment. But on JRE1.5, the content of the file gets added to the mail body as text.I want the file to be sent as an attachment.
    Any pointers on the observed difference in behavior would be highly appreciated!
    String msgText = mailInfo.getMessage();
            String attachmentFileName = mailInfo.getFileName();
            MimeBodyPart mimeBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
            mimeBodyPart.setText(msgText);
            // create the second message part
            MimeBodyPart attachmentBodyPart = new MimeBodyPart();
            // attach the file to the message
            FileDataSource fileDataSource = new FileDataSource(attachmentFileName);
            attachmentBodyPart.setFileName(fileDataSource.getName());
            attachmentBodyPart.setDataHandler(new DataHandler(fileDataSource));
            // create the Multipart and add its parts to it

  • I can't send attachments with Thunderbird?

    I can't send attachments with Thunderbird. I can write a message but when I click on Attach, I get the message "Thunderbird has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." There is only a "CLOSE PROGRAM" button displayed and when I click on it Thunderbird stops running. I'm not sure whether this is a Thunderbird problem or a Windows 7 problem. Any ideas on what is causing this and how to fix it?

    Try to start Thunderbird in safe mode.

  • Viewing and printing attachments

    Hi all
    I think perhaps I am being exceptionally thick but I am trying to view and print attachments from an email.
    Previously, I used to click on the attachment, open and then print it - hey presto, easy!
    Now, however, the only option when I click is 'download to computer'.  OK, done that but where is it?
    I presume there is some kind of default location for these files once downloaded but I can't find them!
    Can anyone tell me where to look, please?

    When you click on “Save” a box is brought up giving you option to open, save or cancel. If you click on the small black triangle to the right of the save button it will give you options to save, save as or save and open.
    Click on “save as”. This will open the folder where your attachments are being saved to. If you then look in the address box at the top it will show you the path to get to that folder. It will be something like your computer name > documents > downloads. If you then go to that folder you should find your attachment there.
    The other option is right click the save button as above but then select save and open and the attachment will then be opened for you and you can save it where ever you want. It will of course mean it is saved in the default location and where you saved it.
     You could also change the  location you want it to save to by right clicking and selecting save as then select the folder you want to save it into.

  • Thunderbird can download and send mail with Cox POP Mail, Mail cannot?

    I have Thunderbird and Mail installed.
    I can download and send mail with Thunderbird.
    I can't even set-up an account with Mail because it cannot find the POP Mail server.
    I have Firewall on with ports 25, 110 and 587 open.
    This really seems strange that I can use Thunderbird to set up and use POP Mail access to Cox, but not Mail.
    My servers are:
    pop.central.cox.net
    smtp.central.cox.net
    I've followed the steps on Cox's support web site, no success.
    I've already called Cox, they're clueless.
    Thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Mini   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi Todd,
    Well since Tbird works, we can rule out lots of things.
    Mail cannot find the POP server
    You are using the Welcome to Mail assistant to do this, and when you type in your incoming mail server info it spins the gear a bit, gives an error, and says that if you continue Mail may not work -- yes? What does the error say specifically?
    No disrespect at all, but the most likely problem is a typo somewhere / mis-specified username. Please go 'round once more.
    Good luck,
    John

  • Problem sending emails with gmail on iPhone

    Everytime I send email with gmail on my iPhone. The message doesn't show up in the folder sent messages (only on the server). This never happens with my iCloud account or when I send email from Mail in osx. Does anyone have a solution for this?

  • Possible to send pictures with Gmail & from Lightroom ?

    I just read the trick to mail from Lightroom with a email client.
    Is there any way to do the same with Gmail ( or any webmail ) ?
    Thanks for your help.
    Regards,
    Gilles.

    Elements 5 does a very very nice job. I send pictures to a cousin who has a system that makes it difficult to retrieve attachments or even go to a web page to view my pictures. Elements can send an HTML email with the image embedded and it works perfectly for her and is so so easy for me. I have it use an Adobe server although you can use your own. I may be keeping Elements for that feature alone, sigh... I can't figure out another way to do this. I use Yahoo mail myself because it allows me to pick up my mail no matter where I am plus see my calendar etc. I can't figure out how to create such an email with yahoo mail myself.

  • Opening and Sending Attachments

    Hi
    Over the past few weeks I've been having intermittent problems with trying to send attachments and also opening attachments through BT Mail online.  I spoke to the technical department and they said it have been a server problem, however it's still happening and it's constant now, I just get spinning wheel when you try to attach or open an attachment.
    Please help as I have to keep resorting to gmail.
    Thanks

    Hi Lbob,

  • Sending attachments with Netzero as SMTP server

    Since upgrading to Leopard last November, I have been unable to send emails with attachments. Email is received, with or without attachments, with no problem. Text emails can be sent with no problems. Netzero is the ISP, and is set as the outgoing SMTP server. Attachments were no problem with Tiger. I have also tried using gmail as the outgoing SMTP server, to no avail. I installed Thunderbird, and have the same result. I've contacted Netzero, and cannot get a definite response. I have also tried using the Mac dial-up software to by-pass Netzero but am able to send or receive with Mail.
    Is anyone able to send attachments to emails while using Netzero as the SMTP server? If so, I'd certainly appreciate advise, and I'd know that it's my problem somewhere. Thanks!

    Sammie - I have not been able to solve this frustrating problem
    yet....I have exchanged emails with Netzero, and they say the are
    "working on the problem". I have also posted information as feedback
    to Apple, at http://www.apple.com/feedback, which you may wish to do
    also.
    I have two work-arounds, as you may have seen in some of my posts at
    the discussion forums. If you haven't seen them, they are:
    First, you can use a webmail service...for instance, you can compose
    mail from your NetZero account (or gmail, for example), and upload
    your attachments before sending. This is slow, but works. Secondly, you can
    make a new, small (e.g., 25GB) partition on your Leopard disk, and
    install Tiger on that partition. I then drag and drop attachments
    into this partition from my Leopard disk, then restart on the Tiger
    disk. I am then able to use the Tiger Mail application to compose and send the
    message for me. This is cumbersome, but it does work, and I don't have to change providers.
    I'm glad to see that were not alone, though! Please let me know if you are able to figure this out...I'll keep you posted as well. Bill
