Views on multiple ExtendProxy services in same cluster

Hi,
I would like to load-balance 2 sets of clients for the same cluster such that each client set is balanced separately. The motivation is that one set is quite small and the other is much larger so it can happen that the clients in the smaller set all end up connecting to proxies on one host, instead of proxies on different hosts.
I can think of 3 ways fo doing this:
1) Create a ExtendProxy service, with 2 sub options:
a) is it possible to expose to have an ExtendProxy JVM expose multiple proxy services (ExtendProxyService1, ExtendProxyService2).
b) Running 2 parallel sets of ExtendPorxy JVMs
2) Moving the load balancing out fo the proxy service (to an F5 BigIp in my case) and setting up 2 pools withthe same members. That avoids touching the cluster at all.
Any opinions?

Am I to understand that you have two managed servers, and you have two admin servers, both managing the two managed servers?
That doesn't make sense. You shouldn't be managing a managed server from more than one admin server. The admin server represents a single domain. You can't have a managed server that's in more than one domain.

  • Multiple web services sharing same session?

    I was wondering if anyone has ever implemented multiple web services for an application that allowed the web services to share the same session?
    Furthermore, I was wondering if support might be included/buried in the WSDL spec. somewhere?

    There are a number of standards emerging to support long-running conversations among Web services as well as Web service composition. Can you expand on what you're trying to achieve?

  • Cannot add multiple members of a failover cluster to a DFSR replication group

    Server 2012 RTM. I have two physical servers, in two separate data centers 35 miles apart, with a GbE link over metro fibre between them. Both have a large (10TB+) local RAID storage arrays, but given the physical separation there is no physical shared storage.
    The hosts need to be in a Windows failover cluster (WSFC), so that I can run high-availability VMs and SQL Availability Groups across these two hosts for HA and DR. VM and SQL app data storage is using a SOFS (scale out file server) network share on separate
    servers.
    I need to be able to use DFSR to replicate multi-TB user data file folders between the two local storage arrays on these two hosts for HA and DR. But when I try to add the second server to a DFSR replication group, I get the error:
    The specified member is part of a failover cluster that is already a member of the replication group. You cannot add multiple members for the same cluster to a replication group.
    I'm not clear why this has to be a restriction. I need to be able to replicate files somehow for HA & DR of the 10TB+ of file storage. I can't use a clustered file server for file storage, as I don't have any shared storage on these two servers. Likewise
    I can't run a HA single DFSR target for the same reason (no shared storage) - and in any case, this doesn't solve the problem of replicating files between the two hosts for HA & DR. DFSR is the solution for replicating files storage across servers with
    non-shared storage.
    Why would there be a restriction against using DFSR between multiple hosts in a cluster, so long as you are not trying to replicate folders in a shared storage target accessible to both hosts (which would obviously be a problem)? So long as you are not replicating
    folders in c:\ClusterStorage, there should be no conflict.
    Is there a workaround or alternative solution?

    Yes, I read that series. But it doesn't address the issue. The article is about making a DFSR target highly available. That won't help me here.
    I need to be able to use DFSR to replicate files between two different servers, with those servers being in a WSFC for the purpose of providing other clustered services (Hyper-V, SQL availability groups, etc.). DFSR should not interfere with this, but it
    is being blocked between nodes in the same WSFC for a reason that is not clear to me.
    This is a valid use case and I can't see an alternative solution in the case where you only have two physical servers. Windows needs to be able to provide HA, DR, and replication of everything - VMs, SQL, and file folders. But it seems that this artificial
    barrier is causing us to need to choose either clustered services or DFSR between nodes. But I can't see any rationale to block DFSR between cluster nodes - especially those without shared storage.
    Perhaps this blanket block should be changed to a more selective block at the DFSR folder level, not the node level.

    Thanks for the answer. Another workaround is to copy the table that I'm interested in and move it to the sheet where I want to see it. When done I can copy it back or delete it. Just seems like extra effort for something that should be built in.
    No need to copy the sheet. You could just drag it to the sheet where you want to see it, and when done, drag it back 'home'. (This can be done using the icons in the sidebar.)
    Caution: Changing to this method will require vigilance on your part to prevent accidently deleting the table instead of moving it. frequent Saves are recommended.

  • Gantt view - multiple dates in the same row

    Hi,
    I created gantt view showing employees' vacations. Some of them have their holidays split into several dates (periods). How can I show those multiple dates in the same row in the gantt view? I can only show start date and end date of one vacation, but would
    like to enter multiple periods to be shown in the gantt view, in the same row.
    Thanks.

    You can't using the OOTB gantt chart so you would have to look at custom development or 3rd party web parts.
    Such as (blatant plug but it directly answers the OP question) my own companies Planner web part.

  • Installing multiple copies of the SAME service on a BOX

    This is a "Best Practice" question for BOE-XI (3.x).
    I have dug through the 3.1 DEPLOYMENT training, Admin and Pattern documents, but none of them clearly discuss anything around installing multiple copies of the SAME service (eg. CMS, ReportJob) on the same physical server if it has more that 1 CPU.
    The documents detail the "per CPU" limits of a service, but don't detail if we should install multiple services to take advantage of the multiple CPUs available on a specific Physical Server.
    For example - the Crystal Report Job Server can support five (5) simultaneous report jobs per CPU by default.
    If we have a 2 CPU machine, do we run one (1) CRJS service - but increase the "Maximum Jobs Allowed" setting to Ten (10), or do we install two (2) CRJS services each with a default limit of Five (5)...?
    Does this rule apply to all services including the One (1) CPU for One-Hundred (100) simultaneous requests sizing-limit on the CMS..? That doesn't appear to be a setting we can control within the CMC.
    Can you run more than one CMS service on a specific Physical Server...?
    Thanks in advance for the advice.

    I personally have run 20 jobs per Crystal Job server and most were dual processor dual core.  I had over 1000 jobs a night, but not all at 1am...although most were within 2 hours of the same time.
    I was able to get through them.  However, I had 4 Crystal Job servers.  Its all about your hardware being taxed.
    I broke off my CMS away from the processing tier.  So I could have multiple Crystal Job servers.
    We had 3 processing tier servers all doing Crystal Jobs and Webi jobs.  I had 60 running at one time for Crystal. 20 per job server.
    i could have added the Crystal job servers to the same server, but the hardware was getting busy.
    I would have at least 2 CMS's as they support 500 concurrent users (Sessions?) each.
    This helped us - and we had over 8k reports in our repository.  We were getting bound by memory constraints.
    Once you get to 64 bit OS and App, (BO XI 4.0 sometime in 2010) it will help with this problem.
    The only other way in the 32 bit environment is to add servers, even VM's if you have to as long as they are different hosts, but that adds expensive BOE CPU licenses - the big caveat to that.
    That's how we solved the problem...

  • Multiple Receiver Dtermination from Same Business Sender Service to RecvStp

    Hi,
    I was trying to implement FORK STEP in ccBPM. Scenario I'm trying to implement is, using fork bundle PO with same items together.
    Can anybody help me to create multiple receiver dterminations for three receiver steps in three branches of fork step, where a common business sender service and same Integration process is used for receiving messages into SAP XI.
    Please advice soon,
    Thank You,

    Hi Murali,
    If it's always the same message, only one receiver determination is necessary. I'd also rather tend to do the capturing within a loop which is executed three times.

  • Listener setup when using multiple databases on same cluster

    Hi,
    In our 2-node RAC cluster, we have 5 databases running on the same cluster. Since we are using SCAN listener on port #1521, does this mean db port# for all databases is 1521?
    If I decide to use a unique port# (other than SCAN port#), what are the choices?
    ENV: 11gR2, 2-node RH 5.x
    Thanks!

    The answer to your question depends on how it was configured.
    My recommendation ... run some tests and see if that is the way it was done.

  • Multiple instances of the same bean class in session?

    Im trying to think of a way to have multiple instances of the same bean class in session scope using JSF. For example, lets say that I have two <h:dataTable>s on the same page. They both use the backing bean called genericBean. Now, the content for genericBean will be different for each <h:dataTable>. In fact, the data source that backs genericBean is not known until runtime. It could be a database, web service, etc.
    What I would like is for when JSF needs access genericBean instead of looking for the value with key genericBean in the session map it looks for genericBean_[some runtime ID]. I could specify this id in EL on a custom component, as a request parameter or whatever.
    I think that I need the bean to be in session scope because the tables are complex and I want them to be editable.
    I have some ideas about how I can do this but I was wondering if someone has already solved this problem or if there is a standard way to do this using tools like Shale, etc.
    Thanks,
    Randy

    Well, I came up with an interesting solution to this so I thought that I would post it here.
    I have a page that looks like this.
    <html>
    <head>
    <title>My Page</title>
    </head>
    <body>
    <f:view>
    <f:subview id="component1">
    <jsp:include page="component.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="id" value="a" />
    </jsp:include>
    </f:subview>
    <hr>
    <f:subview id="component2">
    <jsp:include page="component.jsp">
    <jsp:param name="id" value="b" />
    </jsp:include>
    </f:subview>
    </f:view>
    </body>
    </html>
    And component.jsp looke like this.
    <f:verbatim>
    <p>
    <h1>Component
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:outputText value=" #{param.id}" />
    <f:verbatim>
    </h1>
    </p>
    </f:verbatim>
    <h:form>
    <h:outputText value="#{component.id}" />
    <h:outputText value="#{component.value}" />
    <h:commandButton value="increment" action="#{component.increment}" />
    <h:commandButton value="decrement" action="#{component.decrement}" />
    <f:verbatim>
    <input type="hidden" name="id"
    value="</f:verbatim><h:outputText value="#{param.id}"/><f:verbatim>" />
    </f:verbatim>
    </h:form>
    The idea is that I want component.jsp to be initialized differently based on the id param. The component managed bean is configured to be in session scope but I want the component instance for id a and id b to be different instances in session scope. Therefore, I added a custom variable resolver to handle this.
    public Object resolveVariable(FacesContext context, String name) {
    // This id will be different for the different subviews.
    HttpServletRequest request = (HttpServletRequest) context.getExternalContext() .getRequest();
    String id = request.getParameter("id");
    // If there is an id in the request then check if this is a bean that can have multiple
    // instances in session scope.
    if ((id != null) && (id.length() > 0)) {
    ExternalContext ec = context.getExternalContext();
    // Build the new name for the key of this bean
    String newName = name + "_" + id;
    Object value = null;
    // See if the bean instance already esists.
    if ((null == (value = ec.getRequestMap().get(newName))) &&
    (null == (value = ec.getSessionMap().get(newName))) &&
    (null == (value = ec.getApplicationMap().get(newName)))) {
         // We could not find the bean instance in scope so create the bean
         // using the standard variable resolver.
    value = original.resolveVariable(context, name);
    // Now check if the bean implements that page component interface. If it is
    // a page component then we want to rename the key to access this bean so
    // that the instance is only used when the id is provided in the request.
    // For example, if there are two components (a and b) we will have in session scope
    // component_a and component_b. The will each point to a unique instance of the
    // Component bean class.
    if (value instanceof PageComponent) {
    // Try to get the value again
    if (null != (value = ec.getRequestMap().get(name))) {
         // Initialize the bean using the id
    ((PageComponent) value).initInstance(id);
    ec.getRequestMap().remove(name);
    ec.getRequestMap().put(newName, value);
    } else if (null != (value = ec.getSessionMap().get(name))) {
    ((PageComponent) value).initInstance(id);
    ec.getSessionMap().remove(name);
    ec.getSessionMap().put(newName, value);
    } else if (null != (value = ec.getApplicationMap().get(name))) {
    ((PageComponent) value).initInstance(id);
    ec.getApplicationMap().remove(name);
    ec.getApplicationMap().put(newName, value);
    return value;
    return original.resolveVariable(context, name);
    }

  • What is the best way to set up multiple devices in the same household?

    Our family has a bunch of devices (phones,pads,pods) all set up under the same appleID.  The idea was to be able to share iTunes content among devices.  The problem is that there is personalized data merging between devices (address book, apps, etc).  Is there a way to set up multiple devices under the same account while maintaining their own identity so that Each user can have their own apps, addresses, etc without having to sift through everyone else's stuff?

    Continue to share your iTunes ID, but use different IDs for other services such as FaceTime, iMessage and iCloud.  (When you share the same iCloud account across multiple devices, any synced data is merged and the merged list appears on all devices sharing the account.)
    To change the ID For:
    iMessage, go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive (Receive At in iOS 5), tap the ID sign out, sign back in using the other ID.
    FaceTime, do the same thing in Settings>FaceTime.
    iCloud, you'll have to delete the account, create a new account with the other ID, and migrate your data to the new account.  Before deleting the account, if you have any photos in photo stream that are not in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else save these to your camera roll or you will lose them.  To do this, open the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tap Edit, tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share, then tap Save to Camera Roll.  Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On [iDevice].  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a different Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  Finally, to un-merge the data you will then have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want in each account (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).

  • Can we access two rpds in a single Presentation Service using BI Cluster

    Hi,
    Can we have a single presentation service pointing to multiple rpd's using BI Cluster . Generally why a BI Cluster is used?

    No, BI Cluster is generally used for load balancing and reduce points of failure.. In Clustering same rpd will be loaded in multiple servers and when ever primary server RPD got changed, that will be copied to other machine. So conceptually its same rpd deployed in all the machines involved in Clustering.
    so in clustering if server 1 fails, then server 2 will take all the load and works for the end user. This is about clustering.

  • Connecting to multiple clusters from the same client

    We have a scenario where our cache client (extend client) should be able to connect to multiple clusters. All the clusters use the exact same configuration (same caches, same services etc) but running in different geographical locations. I know that the <remote-addresses> can be used to add multiple addresses but I'm assuming this is provided solely for fault tolerance. So, does the client actually support connecting to multiple clusters at the same time?
    Thanks
    Sijo Mathew

    Hi Sijo,
    Normally to connect a client to multiple clusters you would just define multiple <proxy-scheme> settings in your client configuration file, each one having a different name and pointing to a different cluster. You then map caches to the proxy-scheme for the cluster those caches live on.
    What may confuse things in your case is that you say the different clusters are identical and contain the same caches and services so you may have problems mapping caches on the client to different clusters.
    What are you trying to achieve by doing this if the clusters are all identical?

    Hi DSW,
    Thanks for your post.
    In your query result, please check if these two users have the same Account Name. if they are two different Account Name in result, it indicate there’s two users have the same display name in your AD, please check that two users’ information in
    your AD. We suggest change one user’s display name in AD.

  • [ADF Help] How to create a view for multiple tables

    Hi,
    I am using Jdeveloper 11G and ADF framework, and trying to create a view to update multiple tables.
    ex:
    Table A has these fields: ID, Name
    Table B has these fields: ID, Address
    A.ID and B.ID are primary keys.
    B.ID has FK relationship with A.ID
    (basically, these tables have one-to-one relation)
    I want to create a view object, which contains these fields: B.ID (or A.ID), A.Name, B.Address.
    So I can execute C,R,U,D for both tables.
    I create these tables in DB, and create entity objects for these tables.
    So there are 2 entity objects and 1 association.
    Then I create a view object based on B and add fields of A into the view:
    If the association is not a "Composition Association",
    when I run the model ("Oracle Business Component Browser") and try to insert new data, fields of A can't edit.
    If the association is a "Composition Association", and click the insert button, I will get
    "oracle.jbo.InvalidOwnerException: JBO-25030: Failed to find or invalidate owning entity"
    If I create a view object based on A and add filed of B into the view:
    When I run the model and try to insert new data, fields of B can't edit, no matter the association is or is not a composition association.
    So... how can I create a view for multiple tables correctly?
    Thanks for any advices!
    Here are some pictures about my problem, if there is any unclear point, please let me know.

    Hi Branislav,
    Thanks, but the result is same ....
    In the step 2 of creating view object, I can select entity objects to be added in to the view.
    If I select A first, and then select B (the "Source Usage" of B is A), then finishing the wizards.
    When I try to create a new record in the view, I can't edit any properties of B (those files are disabled).
    If I select B first, and then select A in crating view object, the result is similar ...
    Thanks for any further suggestion.
