ViewStack addEventListener not working

Hi,
My code adds a hanler via an eventListener to a ViewStack component at Initialization, but when I run my application and change the view, the handler never gets triggered.
Code :
myViewStack.addEventListener(IndexChangedEvent.CHILD_INDEX_CHANGE, ViewHandler);
However if I add the Handler inside the <ViewStack> tag it works.
Any idea about what the problem could be?
thanks
-Malena

Okay, I found the problem myself. Looks like the type of event shoud be IndexChangedEvent.CHANGE and not IndexChangedEvent.CHILD_INDEX_CHANGE, so that is why the handler was never triggered.

  • Application.addEventListener not working as expected

    I wanted to add a global KEY_DOWN event listener and
    MOUSE_CLICK event listener to my app. The help files say to use the
    application.addEventListener(type, handler) to do this. I added the
    listeners in my creationComplete function but they do not work for
    windows I popup. I know these windows are in the application scope
    because I am setting application level model attributes in them
    that the main window uses. Why are these events not registering
    from popup windows if this is global?

    But I can also use application:openFile: that works too.
    No, you can't. The Apple Event "open files" will open one or more files. That is why the documentation says to use "application:openFiles:".
    And it is present as well in the application delegate protocol reference nearby application:openFiles: and application:openTempFile: all in the "Opening Files" tasks group.
    Why is one called in addition and not the other ? Is application:openTempFile: usage left to the reader guess?
    They are delegate messages. Their only reason for existence is for the programmer to use as he or she sees fit. In one specific example, the Apple event "open files", one of these delegate methods is the recommended way to handle the "open files" Apple Event.
    I did not found other answer in the Xcode documentation than the "How Cocoa Applications Handle Apple Events" paragraph of the Cocoa Scripting Guide OS (which is back to 10.4 as you noticed it) that advise to use application:openFiles: which brings me back to the other methods for opening files, some working, some not..
    I'm not used to such a fluzziness in the documentation.
    You are not used to the delegate pattern. This API has been in existence for 25 years across several, radically different, architectures. There is a lot of legacy there. If the documentation says to use method A and you discove that method B works too, you should switch to method A. There is no guarantee that method B will continue to work in the future. You have already discovered this as you keep trying to use techniques from 1991. Please, just use the recommended method. You have nothing to gain by trying other methods that have similar-sounding names and are described nearby to other methods in the documentation.

  • InDesign CC addEventListener not work

    Don't work in InDesignCC addEventListener:
    var w =new Window ("dialog");
    var b = w.add ("listbox", undefined, "Qwerty");
    b.addEventListener("click", function (k){
        alert("detail: "+k.detail+'\r'+"X: "+ k.clientX+'\r'+"Y: "+ k.clientY);
    w.show ();
    it's ok to work in ESTK and CS.

      Yes, left click have no reaction, right click the is there will be a left click.
    Hi XH.XH
    It's not that the right click is "acting" as a left click rather all clicks (left, middle, right, or any other mouse button click if the mouse has them) are clicks, each button has a numeric value to it which can be retrieved on being clicked.
    The problem is cause by CC improved focus that's why it works on CS.

  • 'addEventListener' not working in Javascript

    Hi,
    I am trying to explore the use of the 'addEventListener()' javascript event handler function. Below is the html/javascript code that I have written.
    What I am trying to do is very simple... I am creating a form-input checkbox and display the alert "addEventListener Invoked !!" whenever the checkbox is clicked
    The addeventlistener is supposed to monitor the checkbox for an 'onclick' event and display a alert pop-up whenever the checkbox is Clicked
    What is happening is, when the html file with this code is opened in firefox or IE, the alert message is displayed immediately when the html page loads; and on clicking on the checkbox nothing happens :(
    Now let me clarify, one might suggest to use the simple onclick=alert("xyz") event in the <input type="checkbox" id="check"/> tag....!! However, I want to implement this simple thing using addEventListener function...
    So Gurus, it would be of great help if you can point out what is wrong with the below scrpit..
    PS: I am a complete new bee in Javascript..
    <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd">

      </head>
      <body><form>
          <p>
            <input type="checkbox" id="check" />
          </p>
        </form><script type="text/javascript">
    document.getElementById("check").addEventListener("onclick",alert("addEventListner Invoked !!"), false)
    </script></body>
    </html>

    Hi,
    From what I read on it, there are different methods depending on the browser you are using.
    One other method that you could use is something similar to that which Apex itself uses for adding onload events:
    &lt;script type="text/javascript"&gt;
    the_checkbox_element.onclick = function() {alert("Hello");};

    SpryMenuBar.js
    This file handles the JavaScript for Spry Menu Bar.  You should have no need
    to edit this file.  Some highlights of the MenuBar object is that timers are
    used to keep submenus from showing up until the user has hovered over the parent
    menu item for some time, as well as a timer for when they leave a submenu to keep
    showing that submenu until the timer fires.

  • Double Click on Graphic in Map is not Working

    Hi,
    I had created an application where the user can click on map and a marker will be created and it stores x y values and stored in database and user can also drag the marker and place it to appropriate position and after the user drag and drop the marker we have a confirm button to send the x y values to database. I need to remove that confirm button and replace that with the double click where user double clicks the marker parameters should pass.
    For dragging marker i use mousedown event, but when i add doubleclick event its not working
    gr.doubleClickEnabled = true;
    gr.addEventListener(MouseEvent.DOUBLE_CLICK,registerComplaint);
    gr.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN,mousedownGraphic);
    even when i comment the mouse down event double click on graphic marker is not working.
    Help me out in this task as i need to do urgently.
    Regards
    Arun Mohan

    While I can't possibly guess the cause your problem, there is an easy workaround for this.
    // record the time for the last mouse down
    private var _lastMouseDownTime:uint = new Date().time;
    // how fast the second mouse down needs to be to qualify for double click
    private var _doubleClickThreshold:uint = 500;
    // traces mouse down and double click
    private function mouseDown(e:MouseEvent):void {
                trace("mousedown");
                var mouseDownTime:uint = new Date().time;
                if(mouseDownTime - _lastMouseDownTime <= _doubleClickThreshold){
                    trace("doubleclick");
                _lastMouseDownTime = mouseDownTime;

    [Problem]
    * Flash Builder 4.5.1(updater) or Flash Builder 4.6
    - If you have installed on pc, does not work adobe air drag and drop
    [Solution]
    1. Reinstalling the Windows 7 (32bit).
    2. Install Flash Builder 4.5.
    3. Flash Builder 4.5.1 updater and Flash Builder 4.6 does not install.
       (Instead of using Flex SDK 4.6 is set up)
    In addition, Windows7 64bit environment does not work drag and drop.
    Is there another solution?

  • NetStream.send not working in Flash Player 11.2 Beta with Cirrus, Please confirm if it is a bug

    Title
    NetStream.send not working in Flash Player 11.2 Beta with Cirrus, Please confirm if it is a bug or feature
    Description
    Problem Description:
    NetStream.send can not send data to peerstreams when using with cirrus. Conflict with documents.
    Sorry for tag the build as 11.0.1.3 while the bug is actually on 11.2 beta since the bug report system didn't have 11.2 beta yet.
    If you are not responsible for 11.2 beta bug fix, please help a hand to handle this bug to 11.2 team.
    This bug is "killing" to your application, so we really appreciate your help. Thanks.
    ==Publisher==
    nc.connect("rtmfp://");
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc, NetStream.DIRECT_CONNECTIONS);
    ns.publish("sendtest");
    ...//after connection success.
    ns.send("clientfunction", "ok"); // this line cannot reach subscribers. even if subscribers have client object correctly.
    ==Subscriber==
    nc.connect("rtmfp://");
    var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc, cirrusid);
    var client:Object = new Object();
    client.clientfunction = clientfunction; // target function
    ns.client = client;
    ns.play("sendtest");
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. compile the code in the attachment to SendTestExample.swf (not be able to paste it here)
    2. run it under flash player 11.2.202.19 beta
    3. run it under flash player 11
    Actual Result:
    HeartBeat is:
    Start HeartBeat:
    send hello
    send hello
    send hello
    which means NetStream.send was not able to call "clientfunction" as expected.
    Expected Result:
    Start HeartBeat:
    send hello
    in client function: hello
    send hello
    in client function: hello
    send hello
    in client function: hello
    which can call into the clientfunction as flash player 11 did.
    Any Workarounds:
    I can not find it out since it's an api level bug. But this can be very important for lots of applications which rely on send to do rpc.

  • PLEASE HELP - Simple movieclip click to URL is NOT working... Why???

    I've tried over 4 tutorials to make my movieclip link to a URL. It's just not working for some reason...
    Here is my code.
    ondemand.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,goThere);
    function goThere(e:MouseEvent){
    var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("www.money.net");
    navigateToURL(request);
    ondemand.buttonMode = true;
    ondemand.useHandCursor = true;
    stop();
    ondemand is a movieclip instance with a PNG image of text.
    This should work!! There are no compilation errors...
    No mouse cursor change on hover... just like nothing is there.
    Please help...

    I am overall confused by your description of what you have, especially when you get to doubleclicking the movie and assigning code in it.
    In any case, you need to assign the name (the same name) to every instance of a tweened object. The lack of a name in earlier frames will be inherited by instances in subsequent frames
    I'm confused about your mention of 3 instances being in the library.  Just for clarity, an instance is a library symbol (or an object) that you place on the stage.  If you place two of the same objects on the stage, then you have 2 instances.  Items in the library are instance-wanna-bes.  If you have three different symbols in the library, and you are tweening them as if they were the same, your tween can't possibly work.

  • A problem with a timer event sometimes not working

    Guys...
    I have this problem:
    I have a child added to the stage eacg 5 seconds and if this child still on the stage after another 5 seconds, you go to the next frame...
    My problem is that sometimes it does not work, meaning that you can have this child on the stage for ever and nothing will happen... but sometimes it does work properlly...
    Is there any mistakes in my code or what should I do?

            enem1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, touchListener);
            enemy1Array.push(enem1);
    function bang1(e:TimerEvent):void {
        if(enem1.stage){

                        t2.stop();
                        removeChild(background1);
                        gotoAndStop(5);
    Thanks a lot!!!!

    ok, so there are a number of issues.
    the first error is enemy1Array contains two duplicate objects ~5 seconds after entering that frame.  i'm not sure if that's a problem because i don't see where you're even using enemy1Array, but you should fix that error (if enemy1Array is used) or remove enemy1Array (if it's not used).
    the next problem is you can call recycleEnemy more than once and re-add those timers.  flash will probably protect yourself from the bad coding but you shouldn't count on it.  when you call removeEnemy you should stop those timers and remove those listeners before re-adding another pair of listeners.  or just reset the timers in removeEnemy and start them in recycleEnemy.  there's no need to re-add those listeners more than once.  they could be added in your if(!lives) conditional.
    the next (and probably most important) error is your removeChild(background1) statement which fails to remove enem1. so, when you re-enter that frame you have an enem1 on-stage that you can't kill and can't even reference.  remove it when you remove the background1.

  • HELP! Why does my Drag and Drop not work Completely?

    Hello! I'm working on an ActionScript 3 movie clip in Adobe Flash. In the interactive movie I want the user to create a snowman with the parts on the left side. (Picture below.)
    On the right side I have the snowman slightly visible, so the user knows where to put the parts. Most of it seems to work... but after I put on the body, hat, and arms the other pieces don't work; like the eyes, nose, mouth, etc. Why does it not work? Can someone help me?
    This is how it should look at the end, when the user complets it.
    I think I coded this correctly. But I'm not sure. Please take a look at my code and see what the problem is. Thanks!!!

    Okay, the problem is when I publish the .swf files and put it in an html or .aspx page, it does not work. The audio is not there and a few others things ar enot working. However, it does work if I click on the.html file that Flash created during the publication.
    Here are the folder structions:
    www.mysite.com/myFlashPage.aspx
    www.mysite.com/flashFileFolder/
    www.mysite.com/flashFileFolder/audioFiles/
    So, the myFlashPage.aspx containsthe myFlash.swf file that is inside the flashFileFolder. For some reason, it does not work. Any suggestion is much appreciated.

    The .html file does work if I publish it into the same folder as I created the Flash project. However, when I publish the
    flash .swf to my web site folder (mapped), it's no longer working. The mapped web site drive structher are as follows:
    D:\Mysite\ contains the .html file
    D:\Mysite\flashFileFolder\ contains the .swf file
    D:\Mysite\flashFileFolder\audioFiles contains the PaukenBrumfiel_AngelsOnHigh.mp3 file
    D:\Mysite\flashFileFolder\greensock-tweening-platform-as3 contains all the tweenlite files
    The .html file does not work either. What else do I need to change?

  • PrevFrame() buttons in a swf file inserted in html not working in Firefox

    Hi!
    I have a very weird problem.
    I have created a photo gallery using AS3 in Flash CS5. I have used prevFrame() and nextFrame() actions for "previous photo" and "next photo" buttons as well as for "previous thumbnails" and "next thumbnails" buttons.
    All the buttons work fine when i run the swf files as well as when i run the swf files in Firefox 8.0 and IE9. However, once I insert this swf file into my html file using Dreamweaver CS5->Insert->Media->swf, the "previous" buttons dont work in Firefox 8.0! the previous image button works sometimes whereas the previous thumbnails button does not work at all!  They work fine in IE9. The next buttons also work fine in every browser. Heres my code:
    stop();
    thumbprev_btn.visible=false;
    next_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, nextimage);
    prev_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, previmage);
    thumbprev_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, prevthumbs);
    thumbnext_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, nextthumbs);
    function nextimage(event:MouseEvent):void
    if(mc_content.currentFrame==mc_content.totalFrames)
    mc_content.gotoAndStop(1);
    else
    mc_content.nextFrame();
    function previmage(event:MouseEvent):void
    if(mc_content.currentFrame==1)
    mc_content.gotoAndStop(mc_content.totalFrames);
    else
    mc_content.prevFrame();
    function nextthumbs(event:MouseEvent):void
    thumbprev_btn.visible=true;
    nextFrame();
    if(currentFrame==3)
    thumbnext_btn.visible=false;
    function prevthumbs(event:MouseEvent):void
    thumbnext_btn.visible=true;
    prevFrame();
    if(currentFrame==1)
    thumbprev_btn.visible=false;
    Please help.

    Thankyou Ned. The html file published by flash worked perfectly however the problem persisted even if i used this html file's code. But strangely, the problem disappeared after a few days! Now the original dreamweaver code is also working fine.
