VISA missing state change on window resize

My code is polling a memory location using VISA (viMoveIn16) over a VXI/VME bus running under Windows NT. This polling is done repeatedly as the memory location changes between values. This normally works quite well and is resistant to processor load. However, should another application be launched or a window resized, the memory location change in value is missed. I have run using NI-Spy and do see the viMoveIn16 commands repeatedly in that log, they just all return the same value (not the one I am looking for). Are there any PC command caching issues that would cause problems on window resize? Is there some reason why the commands would not actually make it to the bus under this scenario? DOesn't the success return
ed from viMoveIn16 indicate that the response has been received? Has anyone experienced a problem similar to this before?

The address space being read is the A16_SPACE. In all of my testing, the failure occurs at a specific location in the code. There are 3 memory reads and 2 of them appear to work correctly. However, the 3rd will catch the resize each time it occurs. All 3 memory reads will work correctly if no resize is encountered. Still looking for the remaining requested data.

  • NI-6023 digital inputs miss line state-changes

    I am using the NI-6023 DAQ to monitor digital lines. Occasionally (less than 1% of the time) the 6023 misses a low-to-high line state-change from . LabVIEW 6.1 polls the 6023 every 5 mS. The digital lines are normally low. When they go high, they remain high for only 50 mS.

    Windows 2000 Professional

    Hi Rchrd,
    If you're using a loop to poll your digital line, it's possible that you're not actually polling every 5 ms, since this is software timed. The speed is software/computer dependent, hence can depend on factors such as processor activity. Software timed I/O is normally used for low-speed applicatiosn that do not need hardware timed precision. You can do some troubleshooting by checking to see if there's a certain condition under which the state change is missed, and making sure you don't have other applications runing.
    Hope this helps.

  • [FB4/AIR] Resize transition not working during state change

    I am using a resize transition between two states.  The first time the state is changed the resize transition doesn't seem to execute, but merely jumps to the new size. The issue I am experiencing is similar to this  post - http://aralbalkan.com/2177. This is somewhat different as it's a title window and explicitWidth and explicitHeight are not available. Each subsequent time I change states during the same session, the transition plays fine, it's just that first initial state change.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks.

  • Invalid request for a change in window state

    Ok...
    Creating a JSR168 portlet and it works fine in Pluto, but I get the following when I deploy to P7:
    ERROR: Content not available. REASONE: Invalid request for a change in window state
    Here is what the portlet is supposed to do:
    * Display a form
    * User clicks find
    * Lookup is performed
    * Window state in processAction() method of portlet is changed to MAXIMIZED
    * I'm guessing this is where the error is occuring
    I also think that for the TableContainer, I have some sort of attribute incorrect having to do with one of the channelsIs values.
    I tried toggling them one way or another without any effect.
    Suggestions?

    Ive run into this issue also. I need a way for a portlet to change to its maximized state for the purposes of user registration. Is there anyway this can be done? I know that sun jsp "Providers" which are shown on their example desktop, have some sort of maximized state that they can go into, but im not sure how to use this in a portlet.
    There seems to be very inconsistent support between the proprietary sun provider api, and the portlet api.

  • Problem changing VISA synchronous state

    This seems to be a bug.  Can I get a CAR number for this?
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Changing-VISA-Synchronous-state/m-p/2358338#M735511
    Trying to change VISA read/write synchronous state.
    LabVIEW Help says to right click on the node and select the mode you want (Synchronous I/O Mode).
    I right click on it, See that "Synchronous" is checked, and because it is easier or built into my mouse memory I just re-assert the click on and choose "Synchronous", except that when I do that, it changes it to Asynchronous.  It behaves as if any choosing of the Synchronous I/O Mode just toggles the state, instead of actually setting the state to what you chose.
    This does not seem logical to me.  Am I doing this right, or is there some other problem going on here?

    Hi Warren,
    I looked at the issue you have described and filed a CAR. The CAR number is 399613.

  • How do we get mac to catch up to microsoft windows "window resizing"

    This mac windows resizing stinks, you have to find the bottom right corner?!! what a joke!
    I have had my g5 for 9 months and still can't get past this major flaw!
    Microsoft windows is so far ahead!!
    if you don't know what I mean (i.e. how easy microsoft has always allowed you to resize windows) you are really in the dark. any corner or window wall is "alive" for you to grab and resize
    However, since I am new, perhaps I'm just missing something.
    so here's my 2 part question
    (1) Am i missing something basic?
    (2) If the mac really stinks like I think it does (with window resizing), then how do we get them to change it?

    Actually, Sam. I agree on the window sizing thing. In OS 9 you could grab the edges to resize a window, not just the lower corner. While it's not that big a deal to be limited to using the lower right corner, it's just not as convenient as being able to grab most anywhere.
    While OS X has been around for a few years now, each major release adds things that were in OS 9 (and earlier) that weren't in the initial release. It has to be a heck of a job taking what at the start was the generic BSD distribution of Unix and try to make the well know Apple GUI of before work on top of it seamlessly.
    So far, I think they're doing a great job. But there are still some things that haven't made it back into the new OS. Window resizing is one of 'em.

  • Detecting window resizing

    My application displays a JFrame object that contains a JPanel object. The JPanel contains graphics that I would like to update when the JFrame is resized. What kind of listener can I add either to the JFrame or the JPanel, so I can detect resizing events?
    Thanks for your help.

    I appreciate the replies to my question very much. Yet I have 2 problems to overcome:
    1. Apparently WindowStateListener is available only in version 1.4.*. I have to support users that run on JRE 1.3.
    2. I don't see a state change that has to do with resizing a window. I do see states such as opening, closing, iconifying, gaining focus, etc. But none of these have todo with resizing when the user drags a border or a corner of the window and resizes it.
    Please help. I can't be the first unfortunate guy with this kind of problem!
    Thanks,
    Miguel

  • Is there a way to change the Windows Update service startup type on Windows Server 2012 R2?

    We have a number of newly built 2012 R2 servers that we have HP Operations Manager agent running on that monitors the status of several services and reports if they are "stopped". One of these services is Windows Update. Every day we
    get at least one alert saying:
    "Service "Windows Update" is not started. Current state is stopped"
    Checking the event logs shows that the Windows Update service stops, then a while later it just starts again. Not an error, just an information event.
    In Windows 2012 R2 the Windows Update service is set to "Automatic (Trigger Start)", where in previous versions we run (2012/2008R2) it would be set to just "Automatic" or "Automatic (Delayed Start)"
    I have come to understand that this behaviour is normal for Windows 2012 R2, and that Trigger Start services by design stop themselves after a period of inactivity. I was unable to find any info on how this works. Our client would like this to
    be changed and the Windows Update service stay running all the time, understanding that this impacts performance.
    Is there a way to change the Windows Update service in Server 2012 R2 to the old Automatic startup behaviour so that it stays running all the time instead of stopping and starting periodicall? There is no option to do this via the services mmc
    gui.
    So far I have tried:
    Removing the Triggers using the command: sc triggerinfo wuauserv delete
    This works temporarily, the service then shows as just Automatic in the services console, however if you restart the server or restart the service it goes right back to being Automatic (Trigger Start).
    Any kind of help would be appreciated.

    This one might help.

  • Canvas ID not being used when Canvas is created by State change

    After logging into my app I do a State change, which adds a
    few more buttons on a Linkbar and adds two more sections to a
    ViewStack. For the initial Canvas sections, I have an ID associated
    with each. Upon clicking a button, for example, I can alert on the
    value associated with each ID.
    However, for the new Canvases that are added, this is not
    working, even though an ID is associated with the Canvas. Instead,
    it is just telling me "Canvas355", where the number is different
    every time the app is initiated.
    Does anyone have any ideas about this?
    Thanks.
    Chris

    Hoepfully this will help. It's just the function to pop up
    the help window, but I put in an Alert.show to test with for now.
    private function helpWindow():void {
    helpinfopop = helpinfo(PopUpManager.createPopUp(this,
    helpinfo, false));
    helpinfopop.title="Help";
    helpinfopop.showCloseButton=true;
    helpinfopop.hscreen=allinfo.selectedChild.name;
    Alert.show(allinfo.selectedChild.name);
    PopUpManager.centerPopUp(helpinfopop);
    "allinfo" is the ID of the main ViewStack. What happens, if I
    just talk about the Alert.show function, is that for the 3 primary
    Canvases, it will show the ID I defined. For the new Canvases after
    the State change, it shows the random name/number. If I review the
    config, every single Canvas has an ID set.
    Thoughts?
    Thanks for all the help so far.

  • [SOLVED] GNOME 3.8 annoying window resize problem

    Hello all fellow early-adopters :-)
    A very annoying quirk I've noticed, moving from GNOME 3.6 to 3.8, is that it no longer remembers, nor retains, the size/positions I set for many of my application windows. For example, my mail client (Evolution) is sized to fill most of my screen (centrally), with Empathy and Skype as long narrow windows on both sides - giving me a nice, broad "communications" overview on that particular desktop (with dev tools etc open on others).
    On 3.6, this layout was retained during my session, as well as next time I started these apps up.
    In GNOME 3.8, not only does it insist that these windows are always started as small little bunched-up windows that I need to resize, but every time a window displays a notification/warning (message in internal yellow bar inside the window - such as loss of internet connection, mail retrieval failure etc) it resizes the windows spontaneously to a stupid, small size that overlays the other windows. This is driving me crazy!
    Where can I learn a bit more about how window sizing / positioning works in GNOME 3.8, or is it finally time to switch to awesome wm? I want to love GNOME 3.8, I really do. It's so slick, but so... unpolished.
    I want to dig in an assist with problems like these, but I need some pointers to some background material first to understand the problem. Is it the window manager? Is it the app?
    ** UPDATE: Doing a full system upgrade, as of May 18, 2013, has resolved this annoying problem. My windows now stay where they belong, and start with the same size they were closed with. GNOME is now pleasant to use again :-)

    I really like GNOME 3.x though (and would like to understand the windowing behaviour), but if the annoying quirks are insurmountable, I will happily switch.
    Man I love GNOME 3.x. I admire the courage they had to change, basically, everything, and I find myself more productive with my GNOME 3 Arch box than with my good ol' Slackware KDE 4 box. I just hate those bugs - for example I filed a task in their bugtracker for this window resize problem I have with gedit. If it's a love/hate relationship, I think it's marriage ^_^
    With the 3.8 upgrade, deadbeef was having a similar problem with window size/position. I just recompiled it against the latest GTK+3 package upgrade (that came after the 'big upgrade' here on Arch) and it was fixed. But not with gedit
    bwat47 wrote:
    Man I really hope this gets fixed soon, because aside from this one incredibly annoying issue I am loving gnome 3.8.
    I get the feeling gnome badly needs more beta testers, sizable regressions like this in "stable" releases happen way too often sad.
    I get the exact same feeling. Well bugs exist everywhere, there's no denying. But I think it would be wiser to 'alternate' the nature of each major stable release - one focusing on new features and one focusing on fixing bugs. For example if the only new features in GNOME 3.10 were the AppsFolder full implementation and the introduction of gnome-calendar, and the rest of the development cicle being devoted to fix bugs, I'd be more than happy.
    Like Fedora and Ubuntu, the fixed 6-month release cycle colaborates with the bugs. They don't do like Debian or Slackware which are released 'when they are ready'.
    EDIT: fout (yet) another bug. At least with facebook chat (haven't tested with other telepathy plugins) the buddy tray icon appear duplicate. Anybody with the same issue?

  • Monitor for State Change

    Hello,
    I am running SCOM 2012 R2 UR4.  Is it possible to setup a Windows Server monitor to notify me when the state change goes from Healthy to Critical?  I want to setup one alert to e-mail me regardless of the reason for the state change.

    Hi,
    Monitor only alert you once when the state changes and no further alerts will be triggered until the monitor normalize either by auto resolve or going back to the healthy state.
    If an alert is required every time a state change, you will have to configure a custom alert rule.

  • Safari: SWF doesn't resize during window resize

    I'm seeing a resize problem with Safari and FP9 beta, at
    least when the SWF is loaded directly in the browser window without

    contents in the SWF don't change size until the window resize is
    complete. In other browsers (Camino, for example), the SWF contents
    resize as the window does.

    This bug has persisted for two years and four months, through three major OS releases and numerous incremental updates.
    Zooming Finder windows has been around since System 7, or was it 6, or earlier? How could nobody have noticed this?
    Apple seems to be incapable of fixing these silly little glitches.
