Vision m softw

hi guys,
im pretty sure im gonna buy the 60gb zvm but am just waiting for it to come to ireland,
im just wondering can anyone help me with some querys
)i have over 600 cds so what is the best prog of getting them on to the player that wont restrict me to using creative players only.(only asking because i had a sony nw hd5 and it caused this prob)
thanks to anyone who can be of any help

If you rip your tracks into MP3 format, then they should work with most players, it is the most common format supported by different players.
It doesn't matter which application you use to transfer your files to the player, but if you want to have the most commonly used format, make sure that when you rip the tracks (now or when you get your player) you use MP3 format.

• Current issues with zen vision m softw

feel free to add to this message. all issues current as of -30-07 if i have added these in some error or you know the solution, not a workaround, i'd be delighted to be wrong.
there is a security issue wherein there is a critical error when you plug in the player
search function will cause a system wide lock up
when converting videos, if you check the box to have them automatically sent to your player, it will be sent to an inaccessible root directory
when syncing with windows media player , your music files will be renamed and sent to a directory inconsistent with all other files, however, it will be accessible on player
use of creative media explorer will cause a system wide security error and then a system lockup, or simply fail to function at all
when renaming files individually, files will be reorganized upon finishing a single file, making it difficult to renavigate to all other files of similar artist or genre
there is currently no convenient way to play your music while connected to pc, you must select all tracks you plan to play and drag them into now playing. this has a limited selection set, so constant play cannot be executed in one drag
there is currently no copy/paste support
there is no explorer support within the player itself, any movement of files must be moved to computer, deleted, moved from computer, deleted from computer.
album art is not visible within creative organizer, nor can it be manipulated from this program, but the folder is still in the explorer tree
pictures can not be viewed from creative organizer, only their file name
there is currently no support to manually enter a new contact or task
there is currently no support to edit all aspects of a file at once, only one field can be edited before it is again reorganized
clicking the music subtree on media organizer can take between 0-25 seconds before it displays, when it doesn't permanently lockup

i used to use Creative media source 3 for transfering stuff to and from my Zen xtra, ripping music CDs to mp3 and managing playlists.
as for the updated Media source5, i now use windows media player for all the music related stuff, and drag and drop for all pictures and video.

• Zen Vision M Recognized by XP Pro, but not by Creative Media Organizer or other transfer softw

I have a Zen Vision M. It worked perfectly for months. Suddenly, it wouldn't turn on. I started it in Rescue Mode, did a clean up and several reboots. It started doing a rebuild on every start. Now when I plug it into the USB port, my computer recognizes it. It gives me the portable device icon in the task bar. But, if I try to use it with Windows Media Player 0, Creative Mediasource, Organizer or anything else, it says the device is not connected. I have checked Device Manager, and it shows up. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Zen software. I have no issues with device drivers in the Device Manager. It just simply will not show up as connected on any software to transfer music.
If I connect it to the USB, it goes into dock mode. When I boot up any of the software, it shows the docking arrows moving. It's like everything is ok except the one important piece - not being recognized by the various software needed to transfer music.
Please help!? I have a Dell Dimension 8400. I run Windows XP Pro with ALL updates, and SP2. It is completely up to date with all critical updates for XP Pro. This came out of the blue and I have no explanation for it. I hadn't used it for about 3 days, but it worked perfectly up until I turned it on that last time when I got nothing and had to go through all the clean up, reboots, etc. I have done 2 clean ups so far.
Please advise what to do next.
Thanks.

Ok. I checked my version of XP. It is XP Pro, Version 2002, SP2. I checked and already had the 2 hotfixes that were listed as being needed before proceeding. I followed all the steps and changed the registry key on "everyone" as the instructions stated to do. My ZVM is still not recognized by any of the software for transferring or organizing MP3's. My computer still recognizes that it is attached. It still gives me the device icon in the task bar. It still says it's A-ok in the Device Manager. It does everything, except it is not detected by ANY of my music software. <sigh>? Frustration is at its peak for me right now. I really appreciate all of the efforts. I'm at my wits end now. I have done everything you have indicated I should, but am getting the same results. I did purchase an extended warranty from Circuit City where I purchased this last summer. Is that the next step? Do I need to get this replaced?I love this player and really don't want to go through this again. We had to exchange it twice in the first month because it froze up and wouldn't do a thing. This last one has been perfect. I keep it in a leather padded case at all times. It never has the battery drained. It never gets jostled or bumped or dropped or anything that might damage it. When not being played, it stays on my desk in the case.
Thanks so much for any and all help.

• Zen vision M not detected by softw

I have had my zen vision for a while and it worked fine but when i went to install windows media player the update for wmp failed and then the player was no longer detected so i tried uninstalling and reinstalling windows media player 0 and i also reinstalled all the creative software but still it isn't detected.
I have the latest firmware and I have tried changing permissions for the usb in the registry. The weird thing is that the zen vison M appears in the device manager under windows portable devices and it doesn't have an exclamation mark beside it or anything so it is working fine. However no program is able to detect it zen vision m media explorer, winamp, real player, media monkey, windows media player all give the same messsage that no device is detected. Whenever I plug it into the computer the option box comes up asking me what i want to do sync using media monkey/windows media player/ creative media source etc but when i select an option it opens the program and it says the player is not detected, which is extremely weird given that windows seemed to detect it a few seconds before and bring up the appropriate options. The charging icon appears on the screen and it charges but the docked screen never comes up. I think it is probably the software. I am running out of things to try and any suggestions would be appreciated.
I have been to the downloads page for it but i cant install the new creative media source as i get a message saying no player detected but i have installed all the newest software other than this.
I think my software is seriously screwed up although then again it might be the player Im not sure.Message Edited by aaahhhh on 0-08-200704:00 PM

Been Fiddling with it all day and now I finally managed to get windows media player installed i go into device manager and there is an exclamation mark beside the player but when i go to update driver i get the message class installer has denied the request to install or upgrade this device. I'm not sure if this is progress but at least something has happened.
PS i had the latest firmware installed before i installed wmp so this is not my problem.Message Edited by aaahhhh on 0-09-200702:44 PM

• Creative Vision:M Driver Softw

Greetings,
I have recently purchased the Creative Vision:M mp3 player. Unfortunetly, I am unable to install the software as my CD-ROM dri've on my computer is not working. I am wondering if there is any other way I can get the software, perhaps through Creative's website by downloading. Or could any kind soul zip the software up and send it to me.
Thanks
Jason.Singapore

Just remember most people that post on forums only do so because they have a problem. There are a lot of folks out there that never have problems and so they never post. Don't read this forum as an indicator that everyone is having these problems because that would not be true.
I have had mine only a short time, but it has worked flawlessly and I suspect it will continue to do so.
In order to use the Zen to store files, you must turn it on via the menu. Extras, Removable Disk. You can set it for 52 KB, GB, .5 GB, 2 GB, 4 GB 8 GB or 6 GB. Anytime you wish to use this space, you simply turn on the Zen, Go to Extra and Removable Disk, then plug it into the computer. It will show up as a hard dri've.

• (Vision:M) Alternatives to Horrendous Creative Softwa

I have one of the new Vision:M players. The Creative software that came with it is truly horrendous and buggy...
Examples:
) Can't create smart playlists that sync on the DEVICE, just the computer,
2) Creating a playlist in the software and copying it to the device causes
the software to re-copy the songs in the playlist back to the device,
even though they may already be on the device,
3) Each time a song appears in a playlist, its title is duplicated in the
device's "All Tracks" list,
4) "Sync media with Computer" simply does not!
5) Media transfer starts out fast, then gets slower and S-L-O-W-E-R as
transfers continue.
etc., etc., etc.
There MUST be some 3rd party software for the Vision:M out there that can be used to make the Vision:M less painful to use? Any suggestions? I'm using Windows 2000Pro, but have been forced to use a friend's Windows XP system and the Creative software to get media (via WiFi) onto the Vision:M.

I agree 00&#37; with you. Playlists are terrible, creating duplicate songs instead of just creating a small file that points to the songs that are already on the Vision:M. Also, I noticed last night that, for some reason, half a dozen of my albums lost their "Album" ID3 tag so the Vision:M had them listed in album search as "Unknown". After spending time manually fixing these in Mediasource, I tried to sync with the sync manager. After trying to sync, the software said there was nothing to sync. Huh?... I just changed the ID3 tags on about 00 songs! The software can't detect that change and update the songs on the player? I had to highlight the songs in Mediasource and manually send them to the Vision:M. All good right?...wrong! Now there are duplicates of all the songs I just sent over, even though I sent them to the same folders AND clicked on "Replace Duplicates" when prompted. I had to go back in, AGAIN, and manually delete the old mp3's. Took about an hour for something that should have taken 0 minutes. There's things not to like about the ipod but I have to say that itunes worked flawlessly and no matter how small a change you made to a song or your library, once you plug in the ipod the software syncs to it easily and quickly.Message Edited by Mercury2k on 02-0-2006 02:0 PMMessage Edited by Mercury2k on 02-0-2006 02: PM

• Got a Vision M, do I need to delete my zen touch softw

Hi,
I just brought a vision M. I still have my zen touch, and want to keep it.
To install the new software do I need to delete the old software, or will it just install on top (without deleting my old music)

The battery won't be effected if you don't let it run down to be dead. Honestly it charges faster on the USB cable if the device is on and plugged in. So if it has charged enough to turn on, I would turn it on and plug it in so its recognized by windows and it will charge faster. Just don't let the battery run down, as the limitation with USB charging devices is that they get much less current to charge on if windows can't recognize it.
So if you run the battery down to close to dead, it will take you that much longer to recharge so its best to keep the units mostly charged.

• New Black BT Vision box - what is missing, a discu...

Maybe it's just me but here is a list of things which are currently missing or wrong with the new BT Vision box (black edition with new interface and OS). Thought it might be useful to keep a list of these going which people can add to.
would also appreciate it if anyone can help with any of these issues in case i've missed something
Red button doesn't work - believe this is  'coming soon'. you can still access the channels by going to 301 or 302
Teletext doesn't work - the button pops up a message saying it's not available, coming soon?
There is no way to set recordings to over run? - this used to be very handy on old box, particularly with live shows. is this being brought back?
No signal strength tester - you used to be able to check digital signal reception strength and quality from the settings menu, not any more
Pressing 'play' when viewing a recording doesn't flash up the progress bar - any other good way to do this, used to be handy. Fix: pressing "select" does the trick
no HD Freeview - the box isn't capable, wondering whether they might upgrade us to YouView later on for this?
No options to set resolution - used to be able to define 720p or 1080i for instance, not any more
Sky Sports small white box - a small logo in the bottom right area, not sure what this is or why it's now there?
Subtitles on iPlayer missing
Some reported picture quality issues - both on SCART and HDMI
On the plus side:
Bigger capacity on the hard disc
Faster inteface and movement between sections
Nice new design and sharp interface resolution
Channel logos / graphics now in the information bar menu
When in the TV Guide there's still a small box showing you what you are watching on the current channel
Music playlist
Bookmarks
Reinstatement of the 30s jump and better fast-forward / rewind (30s jump doesn't work on Sky Sports)
Ability to jump to specific point in recordings (you need to start it first, then stop and go back into it to have option)
Ability to reenter a recording at a time offset
Icon to show which recordings have been watched
HD iPlayer
Recently viewed in iPlayer
Ability to resume a programme on iPlayer
Ability to resume on demand
Disk usage on Recordings page
Auto switching format for HDMI and SCARTOne-press toggling of Subtitles and Audio
Previous channel facility
'Play all' feature for On Demand series
anything else people want to add?

• Zen Vision M 30GB - How to edit more than one tag at once

Hello,
I?m looking for a comfortable way to edit the tags on my player. I?ve installed ZEN Vision M Series Media Explorer, but I can only add one file at once. I?ve tried a normal tageditor, but I can't see the player in the device list.
Does anyone know a tool for editing more than one file at once ?
Thanks
Michel

I do it in winamp, and then i copy songs back to player .)

• MediaSource Recognition Problem? (Zen Vision:

OK, I had a Zen 20GB for the last year and I loved it to bits. Worked great, but just before Christmas it fell in some water and died . I replaced it with a 60GB Zen Vision:M and didn't mind too much because I had less than GB of space left and would have had to replace it soon anyway.
Now onto my question. With my Zen 20GB when I used Media Source (I think v.3 came with it but I can't remember) it would let me search my Zen and edit tracks in it. The search function was IMO fantastic, especially with a music collection as large as mine. Now when I connect my ZV:M it connects fine. I've transferred plenty of music without bother using Windows Media Player.
However, when I open Media Source (both v.3 and v.5) it doesn't give me any option to explore my Zen like it did when I had my 20GB. I can still explore it using the Zen Explorer, but since this doesn't let you edit the properties for several tracks at a time I find it very frustrating.
Also, if I chose to "Transfer Music", "Transfer Playlist" or "Sync Music" in Media Source I get the message "No Creative mp3 player is detected. Please connect your mp3 player and try again."
Now, I know it's connected since I can explore the contents fine in Zen Explorer and I can transfer to it using WMP. Is there something I haven't installed correctly that is stopping Media Source from recognising my player? It just seems strange since it seems to be the only application not working for it.
Thanks for the help (and sorry if this has been covered else where. I searched but couldn't find anything).

You must also download and install the corresponding MediaSource plugin for your MP3 player in order for MediaSource 5 to detect your MP3 player.

• NOT so happy CONCLUSION after all -- Installation of my ZEN Vision M (30 G

Sunday 2/3/06
Let's see, I had a problem with losing my AUDIO. Finally, I had to do a full re-install on my S.B. Audigy 2zs. I even moved it to a different PCI connector on the MB. After a full re-installation... sweet sound again.
As to the Zen itself, I keep having problems.... I am trying to update all the applications (C MediaSourde and C Media explorer) and even there I am finding problems.
When I download the upgrade file to my PC ([color="#ff3300">CMS5_PCAPP_LB_5_0_38.exe), and?try opening it, it HANGS... that's it... so I have not been able to upgrade it. And if I don't upgrade it, then I will have the same erratic behavior will all these applications. They work sometimes and sometimes they don't.
If I really force the issue, opent the explorer and the MediaSource, where I have my "library" of songs... and WHEN the ZEN is recognized by everyone (This is ramdon condition, sometimes yes, many times no), I am able to drag and drop some songs from my "library"?to the ZEN.... but I?still don't have a clear path to do this consistently... ?
Tuesday report 2/26/06:?
(I?don't want anybody to get the ideal all is well now... I thought it was... Yesterday, but not today)
Today I?was able to?to Rip a couple of CDs and "transfer" them to the ZEN. Some of the songs?have noises?though... I don't know what causes that. But the applications are still buggy, they don't work consistently all the time. I just "sense" something is not right with my PC.
No only that... This installation knocked off my Audio!... even though I have a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2zs platinum! (Audio Card)... So I have NO SOUND right now?and therefore I can not use WMP-0 to rip cd's because it tells me I have not audio and I am not in the mood to deal the WMP now. So I had to use the Creative MediaSource 5, to do the ripping and the synchronizing. It did the job ok, except for the noise...
I tried everything to re-install my Audio. Tried the latest dri've...Nothing. Went back to my old one (before this installation) and it DID NOT work either!? Amazing how complicated this has become....
Monday report 2/25/06: I did not do much on the Zen today. But I did notice the WPM 0, still goes crazy (crashed) when trying to find the Zen. The WMP0 crashed today once. Also, there seem to be some conflict among certain programs... It almost seems as if more than one applications is biding for the Zen when they see it. (i.e. if the WMP is open and try opening the Creative Explorer app... it will not open... but only until I close the WMP...then the apps springs up just like that. That's it. - Good night.
I SO, IT seems like I am not out of the woods yet... I wonder if I ever will.

<font face="Times New Roman" size="5" color="#ff3300">Quick Tips (I see people asking the same questions)
If your ZEN seems "dead" then you need to RESET it. How? insert a "clip" (or other sharp tool. Clip works best) in the hole for RESET, located at the bottom of the ZEN (by the "dongle" connector)<?
Connect your ZEN to a "USB-PORT" (not to a "hub")?A USB-PORT is located on your computer (the box). A "Hub" is a little box connected to one USB-PORTS and it "splits" this port into several USB-Connectors... ideally useful for "devices" that do not required lost of information or current (i.e. mouse, drawing table, keyboard, etc). Devices that required a continuous or heavy amounts of information (i.e. External Hard Dri'ves, Camcorders, Webcams sometimes, required an individual USB-PORT)<?Two things here:?- This link is for the original messagehttp://forums.creative.com/creativel...essage.id=7293?2- Happy Conclusion installing the ZEN Vision M (30 Gig)<i>(I am writing this for several reasons. Mainly, because it was a difficult installation and I wanted to summarize the 200 or 300 steps/actions I did that led me to solve the problem successfully. I always do this when I have a difficult installation and then I save it for the next time I need it (i.e. changing computers). I certainly don?t want to waste all that effort. One thing I learned about ?technology? is hard to learn it but it can be forgotten so easily, if you don?t take notes.)</i>
<p align="center">---------------------------------------
[color="#ff3300">What was causing the problem?
Two things:
First, problems with Windows and the computer itself.
Second, the Creative applications were horrible at first, they would not open right away and when they did? sometimes 5 or 0 seconds later? they would crash just by clicking on something? and so Windows kept giving me those Error boxes and I kept sending them to Microsoft?(I must have sent at least 00 if not more!) I was also having problems with my graphics, every time an application would crash, then all kind of weird graphics would take place when dragging things around. I also had problems at one time with my Anti-virus/fire-wall Icon going dark after several re-boots, so I had to kick it to get it working?. Oh well, I just want you to get a flavor for how bad things were yesterday.
When I first installed the software, nothing worked!... My computer was noticeably SLOWER and SLUGHISH? Actually I was worry about my computer itself because I have never seen it this bad!... I thought a virus the size of an elephant had gotten into the pc somehow, no kidding so I ran the anti-virus, anti-spy, just to make sure. Sometimes if you firewall is down, you can get viruses in an instant!... I hope you people know this by now. And if the firewall fails and viruses get in, is just at moments like these? when you are trying to get things to work and downloading stuff from the Internet and so on.
The computer was just sloooowww? sluggish?.. and crashy (new word?)?.
I must have rebooted my system from 40 to 50 times, and I am not exaggerating. At some point I even had trouble turning off the PC. There were like three time where it would just sit there in ?limbo? (hung/crashed), so I had to actually switch the?PC OFF on the back of the box, the only way to turn it off? And of course, when you do that, you can be sure you will have all kinds of interesting things when you try to boot up again! (like all kinds of funny displays on my screen, or Windows giving me the ?black screen and white text? asking me to choose a way to boot up, like ?boot up normally? or ?boot up using the last configuration that worked,? (I did this like?7 times all together).
[color="#ff3300">So how did?everything go?from ?so bad? to ?so wonderful?? <i>I don?t really know exactly!</i>
But I suspect three things happened:
- Windows sent me a couple of upgrades (I get them automatically)? I have NO IDEA what they were, but whatever they were, helped!
?2 - As I read and read, things began to come back to my brain. Especially a post reply that gave me the hint (Reformatting the dri've in the Zen) would finally let me ?transfer? my stuff to the Zen
?3 - An lastly, after I have ?cleaned, reformatted the dri've, got rid off the ?firmware? (not a good thing to do), Then I could not make Windows see the ZEN no matter what I did!? I did what worked before (connecting and disconnecting the USB cable from the white adapter (dungle?) connected to the ZEN). Usually when you do this, Windows being a ?plug and play? OS, it usually ?sees? when a new ?device? is plugged in one of the USB ports, or disconnected from a port, as well. In other words it ?recognizes? the device (connectivity) and if the software and driver are already install, the device should come ali've and work! That is the reason you always install the software and drivers first, and usually re-boot the system once, so that when you connect the ?device? (ZEN), it should work!
[color="#ff3300">Let me recap I what happened:
?- I installed the s/w and as I already said, it was horrible.
?2- The Windows updates, somehow were helping a little bit.
?3- I also downloaded the latest updates from Creative.com (downloads/upgrades). I downloaded the ?firmware? (the ?upgrade,? <i>which is the OS=Operating System for the ZEN. Just like ?Windows? is to the PC)</i> and other ?patches? for?the ?creative media source 5? and ?Zencast organizer? (3 updates). I am sure this upgrades helped some, as well.
?4- After trying so many times, I was finally able to open the ?Zen Media Explorer? (Icon looks like a picture of the Zen). When this opens, it shows you everything inside the Zen just like in the ?explorer? (nice). That meant I had connectivity! (good).
?5- Since I had ?connectivity? (access) to the ZEN, My next attempt was to ?transfer? some files down to the ZEN? but this proved impossible!... Somehow, at some?point, by accident (I?did not even notice it)? I was able to transfer ONE song to the ZEN, which gave me hope. After all, if you can do it once, you should be able to do it again. BUT, I couldn?t
?6- Then a nice lady?who responded to my first post, told me she had basically the same problems and the solution was to ?Clean and re-format? the ?Disk dri've?in the ZEN. She said that once she?did that, everything would sort of fall into place? and she was right!
?7- I unplugged the ZEN from the PC and read somewhere how ?to clean, reformat, upgrade or replace the ?firmware,? Not sure still, but it'ss something like ?resetting (with a clip) the Zen and holding the ?power? slide in the ON position? something like that, and that brings a special screen with 4 choices:
Clean<
Reformat dri've (erases everything!), <
Replace firmware (careful here!), <
Reboot. <
Then it'ss pretty easy?to do a lot of ?damage? in a few seconds!... ([color="#ff3300">careful here if you are not used to the sensitivity of the "touch-pad")In my case I did not care since I had not put anything there yet. I erased EVERYTHING!... (not a good thing). I should have been more careful and simply use option 2 (reformat the dri've). Chances are this would have been enough to transfer songs to the ZEN. But since I get crazy when doing stuff like this, I went ahead a cleaned everything.
?8- Then I realized I had erased the ?firmware. As you already know this is the ?heart? of the Zen. (like Windows to the PC). Finally I went to Creative.com/downloads and downloaded it (the full version). But if you remember in #3, I had also downloaded the ?firmware? upgrade as well. The reason this is significant, is, that when I finally recovered ?connectivity? to the ZEN, I? tried both files, but the one that ZEN accepted was the upgrade! (I found this interesting? since I would have thought the full version would have been the correct choice? see?... little things you learn.
?9- As I already gave you a hint in #8, once I had the ?firmware? ready to install, the system kept telling me it could NOT see the ZEN. I connected and disconnected the USB cable several times? rebooted the pc? this helps sometimes, but nothing!... FINALLY, I read somewhere, I should go to the ?device manager? and check what was going on.. ? EUREKA ? indeed I found the ZEN with a ?Yellow mark? on the side, which always means trouble. Basically, I used the ?uninstall? option (based of the principle that simply ?un-installing and installing back something? sometimes this works. In other words, the ZEN was ?stucked. So when I ?removed? It from the ?Device Manager? list (I don?t recall if I rebooted here? but it never hurts!), then all of the sudden? a little icon in Windows (on the small tray=bottom right corner (with the clock and Date),? acknowledged?a new deviced had been connected to Windows. (connectivity back again! Yeahhh).
?0- Now that had ?connectivity? (Big step), I could try installing the ?firmware. And as I already explained, the ?upgrade? was the one that ZEN took. As soon as you clicked on the file, a box opened and asked if you wanted to install the ?firmware. I said yes and voila!... The Zen started accepting it's and when it ended, just like a PC, the ZEN rebooted itself and I was able to see the familiar interface (the same folders as before) but not contents at all? empty!
?- At this?point?I opened the ?Creative Media Source organizer,? went to my ?playlist? and from there, just click and drag some songs and dropped them on top of the Zen Icon (just like dropping files in a folder). And yes, the files were finally ?transferred? to the ZEN. Unplugged the USB cable from the Zen (or the Zen does not play anything). The songs were there and I was FINALLY able to listen to them from the ZEN!... Wonderful. Oh yes, using the same technique (drag and drop), I put a wmv video and was able to watch it as well... Now I know why people rave about the little screen... nice!
?2- In the mean time, without noticing? Just like the nice lady?from the post said, everything seemed to have fallen into place!
?In Summary: The applications ( the creative programs=icons)?were opening normally and quickly now, and many of the errors I got before when clicking on certain things, disappeared. I am sure I will still find some problems here and there, but basically the thing works now the way it is supposed to.
?Just a matter of clicking, dragging and dropping items?into the Zen?.yes, that simple!
?Good luck!

See Movie?Hi, take a look at the movie... hopefully I answer to your question is there. Let me know if you can NOT see it... and I will send you a picture. and if you can see the movie, give me feedback on it. Did it look ok in your computer? (it changes with all computers depending on your setting and player!). Was the sound ok?I almost wish I had not titled this post as "Happy Conclusion." It was happy but only a day or two... then I started having other problems... unbelievable. So, If I gave the wrong impression, sorry!

• Image processing with imaq vision with 2 webcams on the same computer

Hi,
I'm currently trying to set up 2 usb webcams (logitech quickcam for notebooks pro). I want to be able to have them both run simultaneously and do some image processing with the images that I get from both cameras with labview and imaq vision.
As of right now, I'm having trouble getting both cameras to run at the same time. Any help would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

The USB IMAQ driver will not support running 2 USB cameras at a time (I believe it is a limitation of the DirectShow interface). You could open one camera, acuqire an image, close the reference to that camera and then do the same for the second camera.
If you need simultaneous acquisition, look at possibly moving to 1394 cameras or analog cameras.

• Image Processing and machine vision don't appear in Function Palette

Hi,
I have problem and I can't solve it
Image Processing and machine vision don't appear in Function Palette, Although I set up NI imaq and NI Vision Acquisition Why??
Anyone can help me?
Solved!
Go to Solution.

If the image is already a Grayscale U8 image you would just have to save it to a bitmap file using the IMAQ WriteFile VI. If not, use the IMAQ Cast Image VI to convert it to a Grayscale U8 and then save it.
Also, it would probably be better to create a new thread for questions like these.

• Compatibility issue between Netop Vision 7.2 and Lenovo System Update 4.01

I am just posting this here as an FYI.
It seems that if Vision 7.2 (perhaps older versions also) is installed, Lenovo System Update can no longer download updates. The list of updates is still downloaded and the updates applicable to the system are shown, but the actual download fails.
I suspect it may be related to how Vision 7 modifies the network stack in Windows to block web browsing. (Note that I didn't have any issues actually browsing the web with a browser, only downloading in TVSU failed).
I have a more detailed writeup on my blog: http://svenaelterman.wordpress.com/2011/12/20/software-interplay-issues-netop-vision-7-2-and-lenovo-...
