Visual Composer Eventing in MSS

Using MSS (erp2005) on EP7.0
Have created my new Visual Composer iView and wish to link it for use within MSS (Manager Self Service) so that when an Employee is selected via Employee Search (via Eventing) how do I create that link?
Thanks

Hi
I'm trying to do the same, to connect an iView created with the VC in combination with eventing of the MSS iView Employee search.
To make this work you need portal eventing. Before SP 12 of software component SAP_MSS in the portal, this didn't work. I believe there was a low level of eventing within the floor plan managers framework.
Now it should work see note: 1112733
Problem I face now is that I don't know the exact parameter name which is needed to receive the string from which you can translate the personell number.
Kind regards,
Susan

  • BPM TOOL, what is Visual Composer Vs  any other BPM Tool

Could you please share information regarding using a modeling tool to author business process [as-is/to-be]
ours is new implemantation and we already own sap business suite software, and our implementation /configuration Team is considering of using a bpm tool to do capture the processes.
my question is what leverage can we take of Visual Composer ? when compared with other BPM Tool.

If you have license for SAP Suite, then there is lot of things you can leverage with VC than it being useless if otherwise.
    1. You can combine the output from the quick design and code free modeling environment of Visual Composer with the output from a full coding environment like Web Dynpro ABAP or BSP? Actually you can do just such a thing thanks to Portal Eventing. You can trigger event from VC. Yes, you can combine ABAP and VC
    2. You can extend Visual Composer through Web Services
    3. You can do an MDM integration in VC - combining data from varied sources
    4. You can build a Web Services Based Visual Composer Application. Visual Composer has the capability to easily link to and consume a web service from within the SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer storyboard.
Also, if you are using BSP, these applications can be linked  into a Visual Composer application. The linking is done via portal eventing. Linking these two technologies into a single application with receiving and parsing the Visual Composer event string from within ABAP.
    5. SAP has released 300+ Enterprise Services and there are many ways to consume these. A BPX can use Visual Composer and the Composite Application Framework (CAF) to consume SAP Enterprise Services using MDD - Model drived development.
    6. SAP NetWeaver Visual Composer users can develop rich graphical interfaces that extend current investments in their SAP NetWeaver infrastructure by using Flex technology (colloboration with Macromdeia) , and businesses can gain credible, clear and comprehensive business insights through new analytics solutions. There are 100+ IS specific Analytic Applications.
With the new improvements in VC 7.0 it is very clear that the future benefits align and will be much more leveraged with Visual composer
    Hope this helps
    Cheers

  • Eventing in Visual Composer 7.1 Enhancement Package 1

We are running Enhancment Package 1 on 7.1 and the release note says that client side event is supported.  However I build 2 iViews one with Data Entry text iput and and a signal out and the the sencond one with a signal in and a text field.  I cannot get what I type in to the first iView to pass to the second.  Is there a simple example that illustrates that eventing is working in this release.

I used the non WEB Dynpro event tested with the following results.
For an iView that I had build with Visual Composer 7.0 and converted using the CE 7.1.1 converter tool I now see the following. In this case the evnt had the prefix urn: on it
    10:20:12 : urn:com.osisoft.pct.RtPM, AdhocTags, %3CParamsversion%3D%223%22%3E%3CRowParamname%3D%22%5C%5Cgsrtwebparts%5Ccdt158%22%2F%3E%3C%2FParams%3E, undefined
This same iView on Visual Composer 7.0 delivered the following message using the tool in EP 7.0
    10:52:46 : urn:com.osisoft.pct.RtPM, AdhocTags, <Params><param name="Paramname" value="%5C%5Cgsrtwebparts%5Ccdt158"/></Params>, undefined
For an iView that I created new with Visual Composer 7.1.1 and tried to use the same tool the tool did not catch the event and nothing was displayed in the log when the event name had urn: on it.
I rebuilt and removed the urn: and now the tool picked up the event with the following log.
    11:12:29 : urn:com.osisoft.pct.RtPM, AdhocTags, %3CParamsversion%3D%223%22%3E%3CRowParamname%3D%22%5C%5Cgsrtwebparts%5Ccdt158%22%2F%3E%3C%2FParams%3E, undefined
The XML has changed and the use of urn: is inconsistent between versions.
Thanks for pointing me to this tool.
The Web Dynpro version you suggest did not show anything so that is why I tried the non-WebDynpro.

  • Timer Event in Visual Composer

    Hi,
I want to refresh a bapi each 12 sec so that it fetch me the latest data.
So i have attached a timer to the input port of the bapi and a table to out port.
So now when i deploy i am able to see the data in the table but after 12 sec when again the event is fired, no data is displayed in the table.
The same senario works perfectly well for other bapis, but i am not able to understand why its not working for a particular bapi.
So what should i do so as to overcome this problem.
    Regards
    Paresh.

    Hi Paresh,
    just some hints:
    - does the output of the bapi, i.e. what is deliverd to the table,  differ from time to time?
    - change the flag "dynamic port" of your data service, maybe this helps?
    - make sure that the data that is channeld to the bapi by the timer is correct (maybe when the timer fires it delivers a wrong input value? Leading zeroes maybe?)
    - have a look at <a href="/people/marcel.salein/blog/2007/02/01/visual-composer-and-abap-rfcbapi-a-powerful-combination-part-i">Marcel Salein's blog</a> for ABAP-VC-Debugging hints
In order to give detailed hints, we need more specific information.

  • Newbie Help!!!! Eventing in MSS

    Using MSS (erp2005) on EP7.0
Have created my new Visual Composer iView and wish to link it for use within MSS (Manager Self Service) so that when an Employee is selected via Employee Search (via Eventing) how do I create that link?
    Thanks

In your VC Iview add a Signal in Item , Provide the name and the EPCM event name for the signal in item( the name and EPCM event name should be same as the one that you use when you call raiseevent in the MSS). Add the fields to your signal in ( The field names should be same as the one that you use when you raise event in the mss).
Now you can map the signal in to a datasource or an input form according to your requirement.
In the MSS you need to call wdPortalEventing.raiseEvent and pass the required parameters.Add the MSS Iview and the VC Iview to the same page.

  • Flex Table Add Row Issue with Dynamic Entry Lists in Visual Composer

    All,
Your help would be kindly appreciated in resolving an 'Add Row'-issue within a Flex Table that uses Dynamic Entry Lists in Visual Composer. The issue here is as follows :
When I use a [Local Dynamic Entry List |http://www.postyourimage.com/view_image.php?img_id=O5hrG2aMxWZ84Mu1211193041]to populate a row field, the initial row and all next rows are emptied upon 'insert row', they loose their selected values and also the entry list values ('pull-down menus') are lost. Please also see [screenshot|http://www.postyourimage.com/view_image.php?img_id=FPLr2cABcgiHRou1211192889].
The initial row does [show the entry list values |http://www.postyourimage.com/view_image.php?img_id=2HybmEHAuQYs9cg1211192766]from the Local Dynamic Entry List based on the dynamically assigned input value; upon 'insert row' the entry lists are lost. Please also see [screenshot|http://www.postyourimage.com/view_image.php?img_id=FPLr2cABcgiHRou1211192889].
When using a [Global Dynamic Entry List |http://www.postyourimage.com/view_image.php?img_id=m5p2KYuBb442dTq1211193501]to populate the row fields the Flex-table behaves normally as expected. Unfortunately with a Global Entry List it is not possible to dynamically assign a input value. Please also see [screenshot|http://www.postyourimage.com/view_image.php?img_id=U96V0zENCCyO3gA1211193157].
Please also see the [issue summary image|http://www.postyourimage.com/view_image.php?img_id=06xti08tIEfely1211195178] I made to visualize the issue.  What I basically would like to know is whether this is a 'known issue' or not, or that it is an issue that can be fixed or whether there is an alternative workaround available ... I'm using Visual Composer 7.0 and the Portal is at SP 13.
    Many thanks,
    Freek

    Hi,
you should be able to assign a dynamic value with global entry lists as well. If you say @myParam as dynamic value. VC will indicate in red letters, that the field @myParam is unknown. However, it will work, as long as @myParam is known in the form or table where you use the entry list.
I have never heard of the problem that entry lists are emptied after "insert"-event.

  • How to connect two iviews in Visual Composer 2004s?

    Hi,
I am trying a sample application (Bank Details) in Visual Composer(Netweaver 2004s) but getting a warning as "Event EVT1 is declared but cannot be raised". Actually I want to show the GetList values in the first iview & GetDetil values in the second iview. I have done everything for the two iviews, but not able to connect the two iviews.I tried to drag from Signal Out of the first iview to Signal In of the second iview, but not able to connect them.
Hope someone can suggest a solution.

  • Exception handling in CE Visual Composer 7.1

    Hi,
I have modeled a CAF Business Object and a custom Find operation which looks for a custom key. After that, I have exposed that operation as Web service and consumed it in Visual Composer. It is working perfectly as long as the search key exists in the Business Object backend table. When an arbitrart search term e.g. 1234 which does not exist is given, an error message is displayed and the program logic is halted.
Error occured while executing the service: Error in connection: Could not execute Web service, consult your administrator
My requirement is that, is it possible for me to display a custom message such as "The ID does not exist. Please enter a valid ID".
Besides, is it possbile to bypass this service call if it is not working? In my scenario, this service is actually used to search for any existing data for a selected Customer. If there is no data, the user can proceed with a new definition. So, the above mentioned exception blocks the program flow and the user is not able to continue.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions or ideas.
    Regards,
    Joon Meng

I am not aware exception handling features of VC but instead of raising SOAP Fault you can also transfer log message which is user friendly to display.
Another thing, instead of throwing exeption handle it inside try block so that program do not halt abruptly but gracefully. It is always possible to bypass existing service call like you said if output of service is not input of another.
In other word do not map output directly but on the "Next" event of button which enable you to goto next screen to work.

  • Integrating Adobe Flex in Visual Composer

    Hi,
I want to display a list in a tree structure and based on what was chosen on the structure, a detailed information of the item is displayed in a separate window.  If you can imagine:  left hand side is the tree structure and on the right is the detailed information.
I'm going to use Visual Composer to show the detail information and I did some research and it seems there's no way to set up so that a tree structure is shown if I use Visual Composer.  So, now I'm thinking of using Adobe Flex for doing that.
My problem is now understanding how I can incorporate Adobe Flex during the design in Visual Composer and use eventing to pass on the information on what the user chose to the BAPI that will show the detailed information.  I also found out that the Flex Server should be configured in the Visual Composer.  Can anyone advice?
Also, does anyone know if modeling tree structure in Visual Composer is possible?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
You can do this by first embedding Flex into a Web Dynpro application and then consuming this WebDynpro application in a VC model.
    Here are some resources:
    1. Embedding a Flash island in a WD application:
[The specified item was not found.|The specified item was not found.]
    2. Consuming a WebDynpro component in a VC model:

  • Navigation in Visual composer

    Hi,
I am very new to visual composer. i have two issues.
    1.  I have an RFC to execute in Visual composer, the Input form of RFC to be shown as a first view, once he click on submit, i need to navigate to another view which will show the result as an table.
I am able to execute the RFC , by showing the input form and table in the same page.but i need to navigate to the table view after submit.
I dont want to use the navigations like wizard, accordian or tab.....
    2. My RFC Out put is a table and an export parameter of type Flag ('x' or ' ') , based on this export parameter i need to hide/display some of the table columns.
    Regards,
    Naga

    Hi,
    1. For the first requirement you need to have two layers in your model.
In the first layer put your input form and in the second layer put your table view. Now connect these two layer, to connect click on the fist layer you will get a small green circle on the top of that layer click on the green circle and drag till there is a connection between two layers.
Once you have connected the layers you need to select the event for that connection, this event should be the submit. i.e. when ever you press submit in input form there will be a navigation to second layer.
    2. For this you need to select the cofiguration for table view, in the table view select those field you need to hide based on the flag and set a condition in the display properties to hide that particular column.
before this you need to store the value of the flag in a form which is hidden.
    hope this helps,
    Rk.

  • Navigate to another iView in Visual Composer

    Sorry for the reposting
I am trying to configure navigation from one iView to another. I have going through many tutorials but to no avail.
The result of the steps below should be that the ”source” iView is shown. When the submit button is clicked the value in the source_field should show up in the target iView.
However nothing happens when you click the submit button.
    Please Help.
    Here are my steps.
    In Visual Composer
    Create a new model.
Create a new package. (Drill into package)
Create an iView named “source”. (Drill into the iView)
Add an Form view: “Form 1”.
Add a Start connector and link it to the in port of the form.
Right click on the form and select Configure Element
Add a new Input Field: “source_field”
    Add a new pushbutton: “submit”
Open the properties of the “submit” button
    è Open Action Tab
    è Select custom action
    è Set custom action: “TO_TARGET”
    è Click Close
Click and drag from out port of the form and select Signal Out
    In the Select Output dialog
    Select “source_field”
Right click the newly created Signal Out and select Configure Element
    Change the name to ”Port”
Click on the link from the form to the Signal Out icon
Change the Event Name to “TO_SOURCE”
You should see in the lower right panel
    Input field Assigned field
    source_field @source_field
Navigate back up to the package
Create a new iView named “target”
    Drill into the iView
Add a Signal In connector. Configure the name to “Port”
Add an input field : source_field
    Add a new Form view : “Form1”
Link from the Signal In to the in port of the form.
Right click on the form and select Configure Element
A field “source_field” will have been automatically created. Set the type of the field to Input Field.
Click and Drag from the out port of the form and choose End Point. Do not select a field for output.
    Save the Model and deploy.
The result should be that the ”source” iView is shown and when the submit button is clicked the value in the source_field should show up in the target iView.
However nothing happens when you click the submit button.
    Please help?
    Rick Laird

    Hi Rick,
    I reconstructed your model.
First I think, you have made one mistake (perhaps you just mixed it up in your description): The event name from the form to the Signal Out icon should be "TARGET_TO" instead of "SOURCE_TO" resp. the same name that you define on the custom action tab in the properties window of the push button.
However I could not solve your problem as described, but I put the two iViews in one Page (instead of a package) and then it did well.
I Hope I could help you at least a bit.
    Regards,
    Oliver

  • Unable to add visual composer UI to a BPM task in CE 7.2.

    Hello
I am using CE 7.2 trial version. I am not able to add a visual composer UI component to a task (BPM task). Can any body explain how to do?
I have created the visual composer component and deployed in the server. It is working fine independently.
Created the Process dc and added the VC DC in the public part.
Created the task and selected Unified UI import wizard, and selected UI technology as visual composer, but it is not listing any ui components.
Can anybody suggest the correct method to do.
    Thanks and regards
    Sajith P

    Hi Sajith,
I can assume that you are using the start event either to initialise some values in your VC or
maybe you are using the start event with all bank values just as a pre-requisite to integrate BPM with VC.
The end event will expect a return value at the end of the VC activity. Since you are using a BPM the VC application will be displayed in the Task of the user's UWL. How do you manage the response of the end event here?
I think you are using the response of end activity to go ahead with your BPM process. Please confirm and share your thoughts.
    Thanks,
    Pritish

  • Create a sequence of actions in the toolbar button in Visual Composer

    Hi!
I've a problem with the toolbar buttons in visual composer. On a table, I would like to have one button which launch 2 actions. For example, I want to call an event (custom action) and after that I want to select a row in another table (system action, select).
It works fine when I create 2 buttons with the toolbar buttons but my wish is to have only one button with several actions (like a sequence of actions). Is it possible?
    Thanks for any help!

    Hi Ronan,
I think you can achieve your requirement by creating the Wizard in SAP Visual Composer.
The following link provides the detailed steps to Create the Wizard in SAP VC.

  • Dynamic Actions in Visual Composer

    Hi,
Can anyone help me with dynamic actions in VC.
I am trying to open different popups based on my selection in a Drill Down Field.
    How can I do this?
Where can I find an example for using Dynamic actions in Visual Composer?

    Hi
Dynamic actions can be used to trigger actions when specific criteria is met. This can be used as a type of validation, checking if a specific field has been filled, to check if a user has permission to do a certain action. I have used it an it works in a simple model. I created a dynamic action using the following formula IF(@NUM1>1,'END','STORE') and then if the number was greater than 1 the application was stopped using an end point or data was stored using the STORE event and a datastore. You will get an error that the END and STORE events are declared but can not be raised, this will not cause a problem when you run the model.

    Connectivity: Installation Guide
    1     Preparation
    1.1     Purpose
This installation guide provides the information you need to set up the connectivity for the SAP Best Practices for SAP Enterprise Portal system landscape, including connections to the backend SAP R/3, SAP BW, and SAP CRM systems.
    1.2     Prerequisites
SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 and backend systems must be installed and configured.
If you plan to use the WebGUI, ESS or MSS, you must install ITS in your SAP R/3 landscape.
If you plan to launch the SAP R/3 Windows GUI from the Enterprise Portal, the latest release of SAP WinGUI (6.2 patch 37 or above) must be installed on each client machine.
    2     Installation
    2.1     Preliminary steps
    Use
For each system you connect the portal to, you must create an entry for the system which stores all the relevant system connectivity information such as System ID, Server, Port, etc.  Before creating portal entries for all your target systems, you should first create a folder to store these in so that you can find them easily later.
This task creates the folder structure on the Portal to store the system settings for SAP R/3, and can be used to create additional folders for SAP BW and mySAP CRM..
    Prerequisites
Log on to the Portal as the Administrator.
    Procedure
You must first create the portal content folder, Systems, to store the systems.
    1.     Navigate to the Portal Content Directory
SAP Enterprise Portal     Content Administration  Portal Content
    2.     Create a folder named My Folder according to building block N04: General Settings.
    3.     Right-click the Portal Content folder and choose New Folder.
    4.     Create the folder with the following settings.
Field name     User action and values     Remarks
Folder Name     My Folder     This entry is required.
Folder ID     myfolder     This entry is required.
Master Language     Your language (e.g., English)     This entry is required.
    5.     Right-click on the folder My Folder, then choose New  Folder.
    6.     Create the folder with the following settings.
Field name     User action and values     Remarks
Folder Name     Systems     This entry is required.
Folder ID     systems     This entry is required.
Master Language     Your language (e.g., English)     This entry is required.
    7.     Right-click on the folder Systems, then choose New  Folder
    8.     Create the folder with the following settings.
Field name     User action and values     Remarks
Folder Name     SAP R3     This entry is required.
Folder ID     sap_r3     This entry is required.
Master Language     Your language (e.g., English)     This entry is required.
    9.     Choose Save.
    10.     To create folders for additional systems, follow steps 8 and 9 above, using folder names and folder IDu2019s that are appropriate, such as SAP CRM, sap_crm and SAP BW, sap_bw.
    Result
You have created folders to store the portal System object.
    2.2      SAP Systems
    Use
In this activity, you define SAP systems that will be connected to the Enterprise Portal and specify the necessary attributes and web access details through the System Landscape Wizard. There are two types SAP backend systems. Depending on your system landscape, you will define only one of the following types:
u2022     SAP_R/3_Dedicated: This system has only one application server and the portal connects to it directly. For more information, see Connecting to an SAP R/3 Dedicated System.
u2022     SAP_R/3_LoadBalancing: The message server is used in this case for load balancing and the portal connects to the message sever. For more information, see Connecting to an SAP R/3 Load Balancing System.
2.2.1     Connecting to an SAP R/3 Dedicated System
    Use
Run the System Landscape Wizard to create a system. The resulting object connects directly to the application server that is defined.
    Prerequisites
Log on to the Portal as the Administrator.
    Procedure
    1.     From the portal top-level navigation, choose System Administration System
    Configuration  System Landscape..
SAP Enterprise Portal     System Administration  System Configuration  System Landscape
    2.     Navigate to Portal Content  My Folder  Systems  SAP R3
    3.     Right-click on the SAP R3 folder, then choose New  System
This launches the System Landscape Wizard.
    4.     Choose Dedicated Application Server for R/3 System and choose Next.
    5.     Make the required entries for the system you want to connect to the Enterprise Portal, and choose Next.
Field name     Description     User action and values     Note
System Name     This is a display name, the name that appears in the Portal Catalog, and in any form, dialog box, and window that displays a list of systems.      SAP_R3     This field automatically displays the same name as that of the component that you choose in the previous step. If you want to change the name, overwrite the name that appears.
System ID     A unique identifier for the system     for example, AID     This is the identifier registered in the PCD (Portal Content Directory). The system ID may include any of the following: a-z; A-Z; 0-9; '.'; '_'; '-'; '%'; '~'; '/'; '('; ')'.
System ID Prefix     A prefix for the system name     for example, com.mycompany     If you want all your systems to follow a specific naming convention, making them easier to locate, you can add a uniform prefix to each system you create.
    You can leave it blank.
Master Language     The language in which you want the system properties to appear     English
Description     A brief description          This is an optional description of the system.
    6.     In Step 3: Summary, review the options you selected for the new page.
To make changes, choose Back to return to the appropriate screen.
Then choose Next till you reach the Summary page, review, and choose Finish.
    7.     Choose Open the object for editing and choose OK.
