Visual Sourcesafe Link To Individual Projects

I use Visual Sourcesafe 8.0 when developing projects. With the new feature in LV 8.5 a user can now assign a specific project in VSS to the current LV project. This will allow for directl linking to the VSS project each time the LV project is opened. Unfortunetly it appears that this feature is not working properly or I am doing something wrong. Everytime I switch projects I receive the following error.
LabVIEW was unable to open the source control project for this LabVIEW project. The source control settings might not be valid for this session or a timeout occurred. Source control will not be available in this LabVIEW project.
Select Tools>>Source Control>>Configure Source Control or Project>>Properties to reconfigure source control.
Additional Information:
Error -2902 occurred at SCC_Provider_Startup.vi.ProxyCaller
Possible reason(s):
LabVIEW: An error occurred while opening the specified source control project. The source control provider does not recognize the project name. Verify that the project name and location are correct.
I then must solve this by opening the project properties window and retargeting the project specific source control settings under the Source Control category.
I am positive that I am saving the project correctly before checking the data in. I am just confused why this feature doesn't seem to keep my settings. Can anyone shed some light onto this situation?

No I physically close LV project A and open LV project B. LV Project B has a different VSS project than LV Project A. I do no changing of the project properties when performing this. Also if I were to close LV project B then and open LV Project A I get the same error.
Hopefully this might clarify I am assuming that this is not a VSS problem but I am open to any suggestions. The obvious work around is to target the project again using the project properties menu each time I open the project but I don't think that is what was intended.

Publishing external files and their links when all project is published on CD

I am restricted to publishing my whole project on CD. The project is divided up into lessons (individual projects), which I link to each lesson by creating a button to link to a URL/file and link to the html file. In select lessons, I have SWF's, PDF's that I link to a new window and not continue playing the project.
How do I set up a whole project to link to consecutive lessons as well as SWF's and PDF's that all have to reside on the CD?
I'm at a loss because my links end up being broken when I publish to a CD...

In a perfect world we would see that there would be no issues with linking. Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world.
In Captivate 3, you could create a link to an asset such as a Microsoft Word document, Adobe PDF document, Microsoft Excel spreadsheet or whatever. Once you did this, you simply ensured that the asset was in the same folder as the Captivate output linking to it. Most of the time things just worked. But sometimes we saw that instead of opening the asset, the browser opened and couldn't find it. The odd part of all this was that the address listed in the browser address bar was actually correct. And if you just clicked there and pressed Enter, voilà! The asset popped open.
In Captivate 3 you had a companion application called MenuBuilder. This application was intended to be used to link to assorted files. It was like a Captivate that was very limited in scope. It created what I refer to as "one slide wonders". I discovered this application could help when you needed to create a link that would work.
Do you have Captivate 3 handy? If so, you may be able to use the companion MenuBuilder application to overcome some limitations.
If you don't happen to have it handy, shoot me an E-Mail message at rstone75 (at) kc (dot) rr (dot) com and tell me the exact file names you need to link to. I'll be happy to create some small SWF files and send them back that will help with the linking.

Workflow on long project - is it possible to link sequences across project files?

I'm starting a long form project. Obviously, I'll need to break it down into sections.
I'm editing a documentary, and the bulk of the film is interveiws with five different characters. They are all shot with multiple cameras. I understand how to use the muti-cam editing feature of CS5.5, and it's great. But, is it possible to create a multi-cam sequence in one project, and then import that sequence into another project, and retain the ability to go back to the multi-cam project and make changes to the edit, and those changes will be automatically updated in the second project? This seems like it should be possible as it's so similar to the dynamic link feature with After Effects, but it just doesn't seem to work. After I import the MC edit sequence into a new project it's locked down to the original edit, ie. changes to the original multi-cam sequnece are not updated in the second project.
I know I can do this if I perform all my editing inside one project, but this seems cumbersome. This file will have so many clips, bins and sub-folders it's going to be hard to keep track of where I'm at. So it seems to me that by breaking this work down into seperate project files, then assembling them into one main edit project just makes more sense.

No, each project is an island. What I mean is that once you import one project into another one, it merges into the "host" project and becomes part of it; all connection to the original project is broken. Sounds like you might be familiar with how Avid works (or used to, maybe? Been awhile.) where a project bin was a standalone file, and if you opened it in another project and made changes, those changes would be made in all projects using the bin/sequence. So, I'm afraid that your proposed workflow won't, well, work.
That said, there's nothing wrong with working on a bunch of individual projects (might be smart, actually), and then merging those in a final assembly project. The same rule applies, though: any changes you make to the original projects won't be made in the host project, so you'll want to save that until finishing.

How to find documents which are not linked to a project?

I need a way to report how much documents are not linked to a project; just stored in KW.
Can anyone give a hint?

This report SOLMAN_UNUSED_DOCUMENTS will help you identify the documents which are not linked to the project.
(OR) Use Tcode: SI80 to find any document in SAP Solution Manager KW.

Link to other project - CAPS error

Using Captivate 3 and publishing as htm/swf files
I have created a menu - each button links to another Captivate project (that is a .cp file)
One of the 5 buttons was linked to Create_send_email.cp.
To publish in our LMS I renamed the file create_send_email.cp. (It prefers all lower case)
Captivate won't allow me to change the link.
Every time I delete the Create_send_email Project, and browse to select the create_send_email.cp project it simple reinstates the upper case C.
Btw I havbe browsed the KBase and the forums... and I gether there is an issue with linking to other projects. Also read about the cache in Captivate 5 but perhaps not relevant here??

This error appears have to sorted itself after I republished everything - perhaps the upper case C displayed in the Button properties was removed by the publish process.

In ECC 6.0, can I link a CTS project id to a specific transport target group?
I configured two IMG projects, namely, Phase1 and Phase2. In SPRO, I tied them to CTS project ids, DEV_P00001 and DEV_P00002, respectively. In STMS, I configured two transport target groups called /PHASE1/ and /PHASE2/ that I want to link with the corresponding project ids. The intention is that Phase1 transports will go to the clients specified in the /PHASE1/ target group and that Phase2 transports will go to the clients specified in the /PHASE2/ target group
I want to link the CTS project ids to the respective transport target groups so that (e.g.) if a team member creates a transport in SE01/SE09/SE10 and chooses the DEV_P00001 project id from the Project dropdown, then /PHASE1/ will appear as the default transport target. Likewise, if the team member instead chooses the CTS project id DEV_P00002, then /PHASE2/ will appear as the default transport target.
Right now, the user has to remember to choose the correct combination of CTS project id/transport target group.
Solution Manager is NOT involved in this scenario.
Does anyone know of a way to do this in ECC 6.0?

Try this it worked for me though,
1. Goto SPRO_ADMIN
2. Select the Project
3. Choose Change
4. Go To Transport Requests TAB
5. Activate CTS Functionality
6. Save it after the Pop Up
7. Go to Se10 and check if the Project Field is getting Populated with the Desired Project or not.

You used the data. Verizon can not see what it was sued for. However your phone can see whats apps used the data. go to settings-data usage- there will be a place that says data usage cycle. line the dates up with your cycle. then there will be a bar graph below that extend bother white bars one all the way to the left and one all the way to the right. after those are extended below that will be a list of apps, there should be one that used over 2 gb and that will show you what app used that data in her purse

Link to another Project folder

I need to link to a module in another project folder. I used
the click box and in the On Success chose Open other project and
picked the swf file using the elipsis. However, when I ran it, it
was looking for the file in the same folder as my current course
not in the other project folder. Can I not link to another project
folder using Captivate. We want to reuse components from one
project to another without having multiple copies in every folder.

With JavaScript, you're limited primarily by your
imagination, so the example I offered was intentionally generic.
In practical use, you would probably want Captivate to pass
only the destination folder & filename and let the JavaScript
function create the full path. Assuming the relative folder
structure is the same on each server, you'd only need a single
generic function.
For example, if you wanted to launch a file named
"introduction.htm" in an adjacent folder named "course02", you
could add the following to Captivate:
javascript: goToMovie('course02','introduction.htm');
and add the following to your standard.js file (so it gets
automatically propagated to each published course):
function goToMovie(strFolder, strFile)
var arrPath = window.location.href.split('/');
arrPath[arrPath.length-2] = strFolder;

The Captivate function passes the folder and file name as
quoted string variables and the JavaScript function then uses those
variables to create a new URL. You can get as fancy as you like,
such as adding logic to go up more than one folder level, but
hopefully you get the general idea.

How can I hook up Microsoft Visual SourceSafe to CS6 for check-in/out?

I've used Dreamweaver for years with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe for Checking files in/out, but now CS6 doesn't support it.
Is there a way to get VSS to work with Dreamweaver CS6?
I've got a historical database of Visual SourceSafe web file backups from years of web work and I don't want to start from scratch with a new system.

Did you ever find a solution for this? I am not a huge SourceSafe fan, but we still use it at work and any chance I get to bypass it is a plus

I am a Captivate beginner. I am trying to link to another project from a button. I selected:
If user clicks on button:
On Success - Open other project
Project - (Name of project)
When I try to project it to test it out, I get the following message: "The project (Name of project).htm, (Name of project).swf is launched at this point but is unavailable from this preview."
What am I doing wrong? Thank you for your help!!!!

You aren't doing anything wrong. You are testing from a Preview. The message is telling you that you will need to Publish it to see it in action.

Uploading Linked Captivate 2 Projects into Sum Total LMS

I've been trying to upload a series of media-rich linked
projects to our Sum Total LMS. Although there are several projects,
they are linked to play seamlessly to the end user. The problem is
when each project is published, it creates its own zip file. In
order to upload the files to the LMS they must be in one zip file
or they will upload as separate, independent learning modules. I've
encountered numerous challenges in attempting the upload.
Does anyone have any experience/suggestions about:
- Publishing each project into the same zip file
- Uploading linked Captivate 2 projects to an LMS, especially
the Sum Total LMS
- Uploading a project with flash videos to an LMS
I greatly appreciate any feedback you can provide.

I always link between Captivate files to ensure that my files
are not too big. I have done this many times; however, I have not
tried it when there is a quiz involved. What I do is link them
inside Captivate, publish the files (non-zipped, which you can do
if there isn't a quiz involved) and then zip them up together with
Winzip. When you load it into the LMS, you need to choose either
"Knowledge Document" or "General Document" and there, you can
choose the launch file (whatever file you want to load
first.)

Linking solution manager projects with CHARM implementation project

Currently i am working in CHARM implementation project, i have created one CHARM implementation project with urgent correction and i am able to create the Transport request and release the transport request succesfully and i am able to move it to quality system successfully. But my customer is asking to link the solution manager project to CHARM implementation project.
Earlier before implementing CHARM they have implemented project managent in solution manager, during that project they have created so many projects which are currently running, now they want those projects to be linked CHARM implementation project.
When ever they create a transport request through CHARM they want the TP to be saved under a respective project which they are using currently. but according to my knowledge the TP can be saved under CHARM implementation project only.
Now i want to know whether the projects created in SOLAR_PROJECT_ADMIN can be linked to CHARM implementation project. Pls give ur valuable inputs as it is very urgent.

We have implemented this with two systems landscape where in we have in place a Solution Manager Dev system and Solution manager Production system both are SOLMAN 4.0 with SP12. So the path for us to move the changes is from Development Systems to Production system.
We have ChaRM between the Dev and production. We reapplied the satellite system concept. For us the Solution manager Prod is a satellite systems all the changes that we move from Development system to Production systems is tracked with necessary documentation in the ChaRM process.
Yes, I agree with you that this is not any big magic. Working with two SOLMAN implementation, I strongly feel that SAP needs to have well rounded ChaRm processes. We have robust Change Management Process, but when we moved to ChaRM we were limited functionality of the ChaRM processes.
I had approached and did some research on how other companies are implementing the same process. Most of them have almost the same process for tracking SOLMAN changes. I am still look out for improved process to manage SOLMA changes.

hi cody,
the bba group mtu setting is necessary for the MRU negotiation during PPP/LCP. it doesnt actually define the mtu on the session itself as yet.
the dynamic template configuration is a fixed value for the subscriber interface which should ideally match what you signal on the bba-group setting.
The reason for that bba-group config is that when LCP starts that nego's the MRU, the template is not yet activated hence we dont know the template configuration for the MRU exchange.
It smells like that the PPP is persisting on the 1492, maybe because of the peer.
I dont think that dropping connections are caused by MRU/MTU issues, as this would merely result in stalling or dropped connections.
You could try and set the mss-adjust to mitigate this problem.
Also there is a good history command to help finding out why sessions are disconnecting:
show ppp disconnect-history det loc
