Visual Upgrade SiteDirectorySettings.aspx issue

After completing a SharePoint 2007 to 2010 migration I perfomed a Visual Upgrade on my site collections.  I noticed that the Site Directory Settings page (SiteDirectorySettings.aspx )  in the site settings section is not
rendering properly.  It looks like it is still trying to render using the old SharePoint 2007 look/feel.
Has anyone else noticed this issue?
Repo steps:
Database attach migration from 2007 to 2010
Perform Visual Upgrade
Go to Site Actions, Site Settings, choose Site Directory Settings under the Site Collection Administration grouping

Work around I have used for this is
Go to 14 hive/Template/Layouts directory
Put sitedirectorysettings.aspx file in edit mode.
Look for page directive (most probably the first line of the page) and attribute named
MasterPageFile with value "~/_layouts/application.master".
Just change that value to "v4.master" and save it.
refresh the sitedirectory page (http://site_url/_layouts/SiteDirectorySettings.aspx) and it should be using v4.master as master page.
After:
<%@ Page language="C#" MasterPageFile="v4.master" Inherits="Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.SiteAdmin.SiteDirectorySettings,Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal,Version=14.0.0.0,Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c" %>
P.S.: I tried to use DynamicMasterPageFile attribute but it does not work as this property does not exists on page that inherits 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.SiteAdmin.SiteDirectorySettings'. If anyone has idea to make it dynamic, please share with us.
Parser Error Message: Error parsing attribute 'dynamicmasterpagefile': Type 'Microsoft.SharePoint.Portal.SiteAdmin.SiteDirectorySettings' does not have a public property named 'dynamicmasterpagefile'.

    Hi ramch011 ,
For your issue, you can force through an upgrade to the new user interface by using Windows PowerShell:
Verify that you meet the following minimum requirements: See Add-SPShellAdmin.
On the Start menu, click All Programs.
    Click Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Products.
    Click SharePoint 2010 Management Shell.
At the Windows PowerShell command prompt, type the following command:
    $webapp = Get-SPWebApplication http://sitename
    foreach ($s in $webapp.sites)
    {$s.VisualUpgradeWebs() }
    For more information, see Get-SPWebApplication

  • How to update SP2010 sites that are missing the Visual Upgrade options

So, we are moving towards upgrading some SP 2010 sites that are currently using the old SP 2007 look and feel so that they have the new ribbon Visual Upgrade.
For some reason, some of these sites do not have the Site Actions > Visual Upgrade option nor do they have the Site Actions > Site Settings > Visual Upgrade link.
Does anyone know what can be done to make those available?
    Thank you.

Even when I take a look at
    http://myfarm/sites/Support/dept1/_layouts/prjsetng.aspx?Source=http%3A%2F%2Fmyfarm%2Fsites%2FSupport%2Fdept1%2FPages%2Fdefault%2Easpx
which is where the site actions > visual upgrade link should take the user, that page does not have the visual upgrade options on it.

  • SP-2007 to SP-2013 Upgrade - Visual Upgrade?

    Hi,
We will upgrading the existing SP-2007 application to SP-2013 using database attach method. The current SP-2007 application is using custom master page.
So the approach is, we will first upgrade from SP-2007 to SP-2010 then to SP-2013. I would like to know if I have to do Visual upgrade in 2010 environment before I take the SQL database backup of SP-2010 application, or I can do the UI upgrade
only once after I move to SP-2013?
    Thanks,
    Pat

I'm not 100% positive of the answer, but I think you would need to do that.  More importantly I definitely believe you will have fewer issues if you upgrade fully at the 2010 level.

  • Firmware upgrade encountered an issue

Right now my Galaxy S3 is sitting at a screen that states "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue.  Please use Software Repair Assistant & try again."  Whenever I power on my phone, I get that message.  I've tried to do an Emergency Recovery in both Kies and Kies 3, but neither are able to recover, and the only way, it seems, to get the SRA is to plug my phone into my PC and get it from Autorun.  Since my phone is not leaving the error screen, I don't get the auto run option to install the SRA.  Is there any way to download it manually to get my phone running, or is it pretty much bricked and I'll have to look at replacement options?

I found a solution on the XDA forums site, but thanks anyway.  Looks like I just needed to run the Software Repair Assistant, which I'm a little surprised that the Verizon store I went to didn't have it on hand to attempt to fix my phone.  I got my device repaired, and it's working great.  Just really wish my Wiimotes worked in Android 4.3.

hi, we are using mac mini's for our developement purpose. connecting the same through using Real VNC. Mac mini's are late 2009 and 2010. Now we have upgraded them to 10.8.5. after upgrading having display issues after launching the simulators, we are unable to view the icons we need to move the simulator (into different places) to view the icons.
Also we are having Mac book pro's (Late 2009 & 2010) after upgrading them to 10.8.5. Unable to launch the mac, getting only white screen with apple icon.
Let me know is there any specific Hardware (Graphic Cards) we need to use for the same.
Please provide me the early solutions.

    Hi, try this first...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.

  • Missing the visual upgrade option on SP 2010 site

I have a series of content databases that were upgraded from MOSS 2007. Most have not yet undergone the visual upgrade.
Today, I have been working on copying two of those sites to a new location.
I created two new team sites. These of course already had the visual upgrade.
I did an export-spweb of the two old sites. I then did an import-spweb of the two old sites into the new sites that I created.
The result is the two old style GUI in the new location.
When I took a look at the site settings (as a farm admin) I do not see an option to perform the visual upgrade on the sites.
I know that there are powershell commands that I can execute when the time is right.
I don't understand, however, where the visual upgrade option went.
Hmm - I just went back to the original sites that were copied and they too do not have the visual upgrade option in the site settings.
The top level site does, however, have that option.
    Odd...

    But export-spsite won't help.
    1. These sites were being copied from one part of a site collection tree to another branch in the same site collection.
    2. As I mentioned at the end of my posting, it turns out that the original sites had also lost their visual upgrade menu item - how, I do not know.
Because of these two factors - and maybe others - I was hoping there was a "simple fix" for this. But if there is not, then I just have to live wtih that.

All my photos in the iphoto have disappeared, not sure if this related to any iphoto upgrade or other issue, tried to find the photos through the finder (JPG or photo) but failed, can you help me to get back my photos please?

Help us to help you: There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on seven different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary from version to version and OS to OS. So before anyone can help, they need information to work with. Basic stuff:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. What were you doing when the problem arose?
    - Did it ever work properly?
    - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
Anything else you can think of that might allow someone else to understand your issue.
With this kind of information somebody can develop a starting point for troubleshooting the issue.
Posts that consist of "iPhoto doesn't work. Help" or "iPhoto won't print" or "Suddenly I have no photos!!!!!!!!!!" mean that any helper is simply guessing. More information means you get better assistance. (And no, more exclamation marks do not get help faster or make your issue seem urgent. They just make it seem like you have a stuck key )

  • Visual Upgrade in SharePoint 2013 is taking more time!!!

Visual upgrade from UI in SharePoint 2013 is taking hell amount (20+ hrs) of time. My content DB size is around 80 GB. Can you please help us how to reduce
    this timing.
will running power-shell command makes difference?

Do not do this. Shrinking the database will, if anything, make it take longer. Removing content from the database by purging recycle bins etc. isn't a bad idea but 'Shrinking' in the sense of running ShrinkDB is a completely different thing. It's one of
those places where the lanugage used is very important.
Also, there isn't a visual upgrade in 2013, are you sure you don't mean the deferred site collection upgrade?

  • SharePoint 2013 visual upgrade: Behind the Scene

    Hello,
I recently migrated site collection from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013. But is not visually upgraded yet. I wanted to create evaluation site collection before actual upgrading. My questions are:
    1) Will it create a new Web application?
    2) Will it extend a the existing web application?
    3) will it create only a new site collection? If yes, will the size of content database become double?
I am worried about the size of content database, as my DB is almost 50 GB and haven't much space left.
any help would be really appreciated.

    Hi Rizwan,
Evaluation Site Collections is a new feature in the SharePoint 2013 upgrade story. Evaluation Site Collections lend site collection administrators the ability to try out the 2013 version of their site collection before actually upgrading the production site
    collection’s UI and content.
An upgrade evaluation site collection creates an upgraded version of the site in a new, separate copy of the site that is running on SharePoint 2013. Unlike visual upgrade in SharePoint Server 2010, the upgrade evaluation site collection is a complete copy
of the site collection, separate from the original. Actions taken in the upgrade evaluation do not affect the original site.
Evaluation site collections have a default expiration period of 30 days. And the evaluation site collection will also automatically be deleted when its parent production site collection is upgraded.
More information, please refer to the links:

  • Exchange Server 2013 Service Pack Upgrade - Outlook connectivity issue

    Hi,
After upgrading to Exchange Server 2013 service pack 1, we are unable to connect via Outlook 2010 or Outlook 2013. Outlook Web Access is working fine though. We have followed all the instructions, and have applied Outlook upgrades, but the issue remain the
same. Outlook was working fine before the upgrade.
Have we missed out something. I would highly appreciate if someone can help out? I'm not sure if this is the known issue as I can't seem to find anything on the internet.
    Already applied the transport fix.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
According to your description, your Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 come across the connectivity issue.
To narrow down the issue, I’d like to recommend the following troubleshooting:
    1. Check if the issue happens on all Outlook users
    2. Check the Outlook Anywhere connectivity by using ExRCA:
    https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/
Additionally, MAPI over HTTP is only supported when you use Outlook 2013 sp1 and Exchange 2013 sp1 at the same time. Since the issue also happens on Outlook 2010 client, we can firstly try the above troubleshooting.
If you have any question , please feel free to let me know.
    Thanks,

  • Visual upgrade is disabled

    Hi,
I have a site collection that i've migrated from 2010 to 2013 and Im trying to run the visual upgrade from Site Setting > Site collection administrators > Visual upgrade,  but both buttons are disable althought i'm site collection administrator
or logged in as farm admin.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks a lot in advance

Visual Upgrade was to upgrade a site from 2007 to 2010.  If you originally upgraded from 2007 to 2010 that may be why you are still seeing the Visual Upgrade Link.  But in 2013 Upgrade is no longer done using the Visual Upgrade process.  You
should now see a Site Collection upgrade  link under the Site Collection Administration section of Site Settings.  The page at that link looks like this:

  • Upgraded Domain, DHCP Issues

    Hey
I have recently upgraded our domain controllers to Windows Server 2012 R2, which was, seemingly, a success. Running dcdiag and forcing a replication between the two domain controllers proceeded with no errors reported, DHCP and DNS is functioning correctly
This was monitored over the weekend, and all services (AD, DHCP, DNS) and no events were recorded to point towards faults. However, this morning, the DHCP Server Role did not exist on the two domain controllers, and Active Directory had many, many issues,
    which have now been fixed
I have looked in the Microsoft-Windows-DHCP-Server-Service event logs and cannot find events that point either to the scope being removed or the role removed from the server, and the security audit log does not yield any results. In this circumstance, what
should I be looking for to find out the cause of the fault?
    -- Matt

    Hi Matt,
According to your description, do you mean that after you upgraded Domain Controllers, DHCP service was running correctly, but after a couple of days, DHCP role was removed?
Sounds like someone removed it manually to me.
Have you enabled DHCP audit logging? If you have, you can view the logs under
    %windir%\System32\Dhcp.

  • Visual Upgrade to 2013 - Missing Site Templates for ITTEAM and PROJSING

I've been working on Upgrading some old WSS 3 sites to SharePoint 2013.   I Have been able to get all of them imported to SharePoint 2010,and then have imported them all to my Sharepoint 2013 server. Now at the to of all of my sites is the  Experience
all that SharePoint 2013 has to offer. Start
    now or Remind
me later tag line.  I Click the Start Now option and it goes though its Checks and comes back with:
    Missing Site Templates
The following sites are using templates that are not yet supported after upgrade:
    http://<site>/it/Projects - ITTEAM#0
    http://<site>/it/webservices - PROJSING#0
I understand that those Fab 40 Templates are no longer available to create in 2013, though what can I do with the Existing content that I have? Seems wrong to Leave it at the 2010 Visual Representation.
For this one Sharepoint Site I could recreate the 2 Webs. Though on another Sharepoint site there are 123 sub sites with the sa,e two templates. I can't Abandon them.  Is there a way to convert them to a new template first?  How can I do the Upgrade
and keep my content? If I have to use a new template for new sin sites, I'm fine, I just don't want to lose what I have.
    Thanks!

    Hi  Scooter,
For upgrading Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to SharePoint 2013, you can refer to the steps as below:
    1.First upgrade:
Upgrade the content to Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
    http://www.fpweb.net/support/microsoft-sharepoint/tutorials/wss-to-moss-migration/
    2.
Second upgrade: Upgrade the content to SharePoint Server 2010 Products
If your environment is SharePoint 2007 32 bit, you need to upgrade your SharePoint 2007 32 bit to SharePoint 2007 64 bit firstly.
