  • Itunes download gets stuck at:- Gathering Required Information, Status: Performing Installation Checks

My Itunes was not working so I deleted it and now cannot download a new version. The download gets stuck at  Gathering Required Information, Status: Performing Installation Checks. I am trying to download 10.4 for windows. I have been trying to download this again for about a week and have deleted all apple products from my  Control Panel and temp folders. Any advice?
    Cheers
    Jo

Deleting the .itl and rebuilding it will lose date added information. Playlists may be recovered if the .xml file is imported. A better way might have been to temporarily rename the .itl while iTunes is installed, then restore the original .itl after the fact.
For general advice on problems installing iTunes see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Itunes 10.5.2. hanging up during IPhone 4 Sync

I have an Imac running OS 10.6.8 and am using Itunes 10.5.2. on same.
Ever since the recent unfortunate debut of Icloud and wifi syncing, I have been having nothing but tons of problems with Apple sync software creating thousands of duplicate entries in my address and contact files, as well as calendars,  on both the desktop Imac and the IPhone.
Now, after a recent purge of duplicate entries in the desktop address book, ITunes/Iphone syncing is hanging up altogether.
ITunes start syncing the Iphone normally, by backing up successfully.  Then it goes to "Contacts" and goes on and on and on and on and on and NEVER finishes.   So I have to force-quit Itunes and then I disabled the syncing of Contacts.
SO  Now the application is doing the same thing with my Ical calendars.  Hangs up with a never ending diagonal progress bar animation that just goes on and on and on and on --- until I force quit the app !     SO now Itunes won't sync calendars and it won't sync contacts any more between the Iphone and the desktop.  It will only hang up endlessly trying to do so.
What on earth is corrupted or wrong?
I am now effectively out of the sync business between my Iphone 4 with System 5 and my desktop Mac because all Itunes on the desktop will do is hang up and freeze and have to be force-quit when I try to sync anything at all.....
Any suggestions how to troubleshoot or isolate the problem, guys & gals ? ? ?
Nonhing like this ever happened before  - - - until iOS5 and the poorly explained Icloud came along - - -  first thousands of duplicate calendar and contact entries and now the Itunes app itself is hanging up and refusing to do a normal old-fashioned USB sync !

This thing is really works for me on Windows 7 32 bit.
+ Try to  rename file "APSDaemon.exe" (c:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support\) into "APSDaemon1.exe". Also before this you need to delete apsdaemon from Autorun (using CCleaner or directly in Registry) and to kill running apsdemon from Task Manager.
Now problem is solved, apsdaemon will not start anymore. You don't need to kill the task every time you close iTunes.
P.S. Be sure to rename item back when iTunes corrected version will be available.

  • ITunes 8.2.1 Hang Problems

Looks like there's a problem with iTunes 8.2.1 hanging when left running. I have three Macs (Mac Mini, iMac and MacBook) all Intel, all very reliable until this upgrade. Each hangs if you leave iTunes running and a sync device connected. For example:
Mini: iTunes hangs and has two AppleTVs it syncs with.
iMac: Syncs iPod Touch - hangs if you leave iTunes running and the Touch connected.
MacBook: Syncs iPhone and iPod Nano - hangs if you leave iTunes running and either device connected.
On all Macs, I tried fixing permissions, no resolution.
This is not an insignificant hang. It's a hard hang, can't force quit, can't even shutdown using the bash command 'sudo shutdown -r +0'. Have to literally hardware shutdown (hold the power button).
Apple, please either offer 8.2 for re-download or fix the problem. This is a major pain.
    Any help?
    Thanks!
    Greg

I am having the same problem, which seems to be related to whether my iPhone is connected to my computer or not. If my iPhone is connected, iTunes hangs, regardless of whether it is connected upon startup, application launch, or connected after the application has been launched. When I open the "force quit" window, I can see iTunes' status change to "not responding" when I connect my iPhone.
I trashed all my preferences, even went so far as to trash iTunes 8.2.1 and reinstalled 8.2, but it didn't help. Trying to install an even earlier version of iTunes won't work either, because the earlier versions can't find my iTunes library.
I wish that Apple would provide a customer service/support line for downloads and updates of its own software.

You are probably running OS 10.4 or 10.5 on a PPC Mac.  No version of  iTunes higher than 10.6.3 is available for these older Macs.  I have the same problem, and while I can still use the PPC to sync my iPod, it can't be used to sync an iPhone 4 or higher.  The only solution, as I discovered after upgrading to the iPhone 4, is to buy a newer Mac.  I was able to get a 2006 MacBook running Lion for under $300, and that has been a lifesaver.

  • ITunes not closing down - hanging on close down

When I close down iTunes (using command Q or when shutting down the computer), iTunes does not close. There is just a spinning colorful wheel, and eventually a time out error.
This happened first about a week ago, after upgrading to 10.2, and still happens with 10.2.1.
I did a complete uninstall and reinstall, and it still happens.
    Command: iTunes
    Path: /Applications/iTunes.app/Contents/MacOS/iTunes
    Version: 10.2.1 (10.2.1)
    Build Version: 1
    Project Name: iTunes
    Source Version: 10210101
    Parent: launchd [125]
    PID: 385
    Event: hang
Duration: 5.24s (sampling started after 2 seconds)
    Steps: 12 (100ms sampling interval)

Hold down the option key and start iTunes. This lets you create a new library. Put a file in it (doesn't matter if it's only one). Close iTunes. Does it hang? If not, it's your main library file. Could be corrupted or something else unusual about it.
I believe if you hold down the shift key while starting iTunes it starts in safe mode. See if that works. If it does then it may be a third party plug-in causing problems.

  • ITunes Downloading Video Podcasts - Hangs a few minutes on save

I have iTunes 8 (but this has been going on in older versions)
On a Win XP Pro laptop with 2GB Ram, and a 10mb Internet connection.
When I download new podcasts, the video podcasts download OK, but when each one completes the download and I assume is saving it to iTunes, the iTunes program seems to Hang. I can't do anything in iTunes, the little spinning whell stops, and I have to just sit there for 30 seconds to a min. until it frees up and starts downloading the next podcast. It happens on every video podcast, but not on the audio ones. Anything I can do to fix that? It's anoying.

Seem to be having a similar issue. Has started just recently so something must have changed although I'm not sure what. Maybe a Windows update has broken something?
Download any content from the store, it'll appers in the download folder but is never renamed or transfered into the correct sub folder.
    "  iTunes/Downloads/content_name.tmp/download.m4v  "
Disabled Anti-Virus / Firewall to no effect. Don't think there has been any other system changes that would affet this aside from windows updates.
Windows 7 64bit SP1 running the same 10.2.2.12 build of iTunes.

iTunes 11.1.3 hangs on attempt to edit / enter list details (i.e., title, genre, grouping, comments, descriptions) on new home videos added to library.  Home video file plays fine after add to library, but after attempt to edit list details, force quit and restart, home video file is corrupted (green screen) and does not play. Anyone else experiencing this type of problem with iTunes 11.1.3?

Any suggestions on how I get it to work?

    Hi..
"A status indicator will allow you to track progress. You may also manually pause and resume iTunes at any time by clicking the Stop or Start button."
From here >  iTunes Store: Troubleshooting iTunes Match
Can you click the Start button?
Sounds like the internet connection is timing out.
Try turning off your router for a few minutes, then turn it back on. Restart your Mac, launch iTunes and try again.

Slows to a crawl and you get "Application not responding"... AND if it is downloading a podcast you get the beach ball. Click on a podcast 3-5 min delay, click another delay. I have 3375 podcasts. Is it too much to handle? *** is it doing?? Is it asking apple for permission every time I click on something?
