Vocals are extremely low...help!

On iTunes, my audio is okay except the vocals are extremely low (or sometimes even unaudible). But when I listen to the songs on my iPod, the vocals are totally normal. I've tried fooling around with the equalizer, and then completely turning the equalizer off, but it still doesn't work. I've checked all the forums, but no one seems to have this problem. Then I uninstalled iTunes and installed it again, but the problem remains.
Does anyone know how to fix this?!

Are you aware that you can adjust the volume levels from within iMovie by clicking on the icon located in the centre of the screen amongst 10 other icons, it's the one that looks like a ray gun attack!!! (2nd from right icon)
Failing this, what settings are you using in MPEG Streamclip?
I use EXPORT TO QUICKTIME, then select compression 'APPLE DV - PAL' from the dropdown menu, and move the quality bar to 100%.
Click on 'Make movie'.

  • IRig input level for vocal mic extremely low

    Hi All,
I have ben merrily using my iRig and Garageband for Ipad to record instrumental tracks with no problem, but recently decided to try and add vocals. Just to test it out I bought an imitation SM58 style dynamic mic, with an XLR to jack lead so I could use the iRig, however when I go to use it, the audio/input level for the mic is VERY low - any ideas as to why this might be? I've turned the track volume and input up to maximum but it's still barely audible. Suspect it might be the mic, so tempted to spend some real money on a condenser mic, but worried I will get the same result. Are there any alternatives / success stories with recording vocals through Garageband, and what are you using?
    Thanks
    Nick

I have used the Shure SM58 and many microphones similar to it in studio and live settings, and that microphone requires what is called Phantom Power when it is run through a mixing board. In a nutshell, Phantom Power runs 48 volts on the channel the microphone is in, because that microphone only sends a passive signal and it needs to be powered. So the reason your microphone would put out such a low level would probably be because there's not a substantial for your iRig to pick up, even at maximum gain. I would look into purchasing a phantom power unit or some other preamp that you can put between your iRig and microphone.

  • Vocals are very quiet

i have a new ipod nano. when I listen to the songs, i can hear the instrumental part of the songs fine, but the vocals are extremely faint. any ideas?

    hi kem1220!
when I listen to the songs, i can hear the instrumental part of the songs fine, but the vocals are extremely faint.
i'm no expert on the topic, but i've seen people i trust on the forums say that the quiet vocals effect is typically caused by a bad jack connection. (i saw it once happen in a thread where PC speakers weren't firmly plugged in.)
let's try some experiments. do the songs play fine when you play them out of itunes on your PC? if so, do you get the same "vocal dropout" again if you try listening to the songs on your PC through the ipod headphones?
if the ipod headphones seem okay, maybe try using a different set of headphones with the ipod. do you still get the dropout with those?
    keep us posted.
    love, b

  • Carstairs Extremely Low Congestion speeds

During the night around 5-9pm the speeds on BT Infinity are extremely low, around 1-3mb. Although upload is not effected. I have two friends who have confirmed this so I do not think I have a faulty line. Although around 11pm-5pm the speeds are perfectly normal at around 60mb.(my IP profile is 62) I can't post any line stats as I am trying to keep my router and modem connected for as long possible to try and get the cabinet to up my speed. The exchange is WSCAT, Carstairs

I've been experiencing the same issues with FTTC broadband in Lanark and have raised them with my provider (who use BT's infrastructure). Apparently the Carstairs exchange is routed through the Lanark exchange.
I'm afraid it has been going on for a while and I have no information on when it will be resolved.
Have a read through http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,134742.0.html if you are interested.
It would be good if you guys could raise a fault with BT too as the more customers complaining the more likely they are to get it soted.

  • Audio extremely low

Solving problem for my mom. Toshiba Satellite M45-S169. Windows XP.  Audio is extremely low,
barely discernable but it is there. All volume controls have been verified, devices, drivers are (obviously)
enabled. All audio impacted: system sounds, multiple players, etc.
I personally don't know what triggered the problem or how long it

  • Satellite A100-532: microphone sound volume is extremely low

I just bought Satellite A100-532 and I have a problem with sound input. I can't use microphone to chat with my friend on msn or even to record my voice on to the hard drive because the sound volume is extremely low.
I tried turning up all the volume on the desktop and on the RealTek HD sound manager but did not help. Microphone is working perfectly fine as I can hear myself well on the speakers.
Normally, with my old laptop (M30 series) I could use the Sound Recorder to record music which I play using Winamp or WinMediaPlayer but for this new laptop it does not detect any sound at all..just silence.
    Please advise.

    Hi
You should check also the volume controls in the "Sound & Audio devices" in control panel.
In the "Volume" tab please go to "Advanced".
Then a "Volume control" should appear.
Check if all controls are set to high level.
Furthermore enter the "options" and "properties" and enable all volume controls.
Change also to "recording" and enable there also all controls.
Additional you should check if the all "recording controls" are set to high.
Use "Advanced" option of mic and play around with the mic boost settings.
I'm sure you will find the best settings for your mic recording

  • Extremely Low Bass Out

I'm currently using Logitech Z-5500 speakers and an Audigy 2 sound card.
The current problem I'm having with them is that the bass output is extremely low, and tweaking the settings (ie. Maxing bass bars on options and upping the bass crossover) does almost nothing to improve the bass.
This is not a connectivity issue as all channels are correct, and the bass unit is not broken because the speaker test works fine (the Logitech speaker test) and because, very bizarrely, when I set CMSS to stereo (I was gettig desperate and trying anything) the bass kicked in. As in really kicked in as it should do.
Any other CMSS settings resulted in a totally nerfed bass output. Can anyone suggest anyway that I may get a proper bass output without having CMSS to stereo? (I absolutely loathe CMSS as it borfs quite a few things for me)
Perhaps there's a way to stop creative settings interfering with bass?
The other thing I've noticed is that I didn't have this problem a few months ago. When I first got my speakers about 9 months ago, the bass was fine. When I bought a Xi-Fi card (soon after release) and promptly returned it, then re-installed the audigy, I think that's when the problem started.
I've tried totally un-installing the sound card and extras, all creative stuff followed by a manual uninstall of the Audigy WDM, and then re-installed the latest drivers, but to no avail.
    I query whether:
The Xi-Fi drivers installed something on my PC that borks the bass that isn't uninstalled the usual way.
    or
If there's a problem with the current audigy drivers, and if so where can I download the previous ones.
    or
    Acombination of the above.
Anyone had any similar experiences and/or solutions? (A forum search hasn't helped so far)

Wow, altering the search parameters slightly revealed a *massi've* number of bass problem threads. (Do any creative sound cards work as they should? This forum is rammed)
Anyway, couldn't find any threads which resulted in a good bass when CMSS stereo was enabled. I'm thinking there must be some hidden setting I can play with to fix my problem, especially as I used to have a good bass output!

  • IPad volume (esp Facetime) is extremely low after iOS 7 update

    Hi Devs,
After the update for iOS7, the volume (esp for Facetime) is extremely low and i have to strain to hear at MAX volume. Even video playback is affected. Pls help.........
    Thanks.

CRAP!!!! I wish I would have read this post before I just dropped $400 on a brand new unlocked 4s.  It came with IOS7... FU.....  I wish I could return it!!     Well, I'm stuck with it now.  I received it with 7.0.4, so, it sounds like Apple hasn't done anything to fix this issue or cares too... tisk tisk Apple... what are you thinking.... how many people need to complain and ask for help before you realize you have an issue and you fix it??  What is it going to take??  Doesn't make sense to me... such a great product going down the toilet.  Oh, maybe it's because you already have billions in the bank... now it makes sense.
I bought this iphone 4s to give to my girlfriend and was going to by an iphone 5s for myself... that's not going to happen now.
Well, I'm stuck with this phone now, so any help out there would be awesome.... please, no sarcastic comments.

  • Extremely low message throughput with MQ 3.6

We performed some load tests to determine maximum throughput of the Sun JMS framework when used in conditions similar to our application.
The achieved throughput is extremely low: around 10 messages / second while we expected around 100. Could you please verify what may be the reason?
We encountered one particular problem: the time of closing JMS producers increases much during the test. Message throughput decreases proportionally. Time periods of other phases of the JMS API usage remain constant. What can be the reason?
    detailed information:
    Our configuration used:
    server machine:
    cpu: Intel Celeron 2.8 Ghz
    ram: 1GB
os: CentOS release 4.4 (Final), 2.6.9-42.0.3.EL
application server: Sun Java System Application Server Enterprise Edition 8.1 2005Q2 UR2
    java version: 1.5.0_04
    we use default imqbroker configuration
    client machine:
    Intel Celeron 2Ghz
    ram: 512MB
os: Fedora Core release 3, 2.6.12-1.1381_FC3
    java version: 1.4.02
Test description (find attached test unit sources presenting our way of using JMS API):
Load test is performed by running a number of concurrent test units against the JMS broker. Number of units is constant in time. Additionally, every unit test at the end of its life cycle launches another unit to keep long test time perspective.
Each test unit is self-contained. It contains of a producer and a consumer (MessageListener). It sends messages to itself . Also each message unit sleeps for some time to simulate message processing.
Messages are non-persistent, no durable subscriptions are used. All units are using one shared Queue for whole messaging. Message selectors are utilized to guarantee that messages are delivered to intended receiver.
By this test we wanted to determine a maximum value of message throughput for which all messages are delivered successfully and in some reasonable time (say less than 1 minute).
Some variations of test units are possible, e.g. JMS connections and/or sessions can be open/closed for every sent message or shared among multiple producers. But (contrary to our expectations) we encountered no visible differences in message throughput and message delivery time.

    and
1.Check Sun Java Enterprise (or the Sun Java Application Platform Suite),
    2.Click Get Download and Media
    3. Then select Systems for windows (the bar at the top)
I beleive you can get Message Queue 3.6 SP3 from it, by only installing the Message Queue component.
Note: it is a large download (500 Mb for Application Platform), especially for Sun Java Enterprise...

Since syncing with iCloud all my photos in my photo app are much lower resolution than they were before. Can anyone explain what happened an how I might get back my high resolution photos?

    Thanks again.
Unfortunately I don't have iPhoto (running Windows).
    I did, however, figure out a work-around.
I created an empty directory on my computer, and told iTunes to "Sync Photos from..." that empty directory. This deleted all the photos from the iPod (go figure).
I then set the "Sync Photos from..." dropdown back to directory that actually contained all my photos, and sync'd again.
And, yes, they all loaded onto the iPod at their better, higher resolution.
Thanks for all your help. Photos (and wallpaper) are perfect, again

Few of our calc cripts are runnig low for EPM applications.
Its happening like some of the calc scripts are running fine..while a few other are running slow.
Can you ugget what thing needed to be checked
    Thanks

    Hi,
    The version is not mentioned.
Hope the below tuning methods are helpful:
    1. Check that compression settings are still present. In EAS, expand the application and database. Right-click on the database > Edit > Properties > Storage tab. Check that your "Data compression" is not set to "No compression" and that "Pending I/O access mode" is set to "Buffered I/O". Sometimes the compression setting can revert to "no compression", causing the rapid growth of the data files on disk.
    2. On the Statistics tab, check the "Average clustering ratio". This shoud be close to 1. If it is not, restructure you database, by right-clicking on it and choosing "Restructure...". This will reduce any fragmentation caused by repeated data import and export. Fragmentation will naturally reduce performance over time, but this can happen quite quickly when there are many data loads taking place.
    3. Check the caches and block sizes.
         a.Recommended block size: 8 to 100Kb
         b.Recommended Index Cache:
              Minimum=1 meg
              Default=10 meg
Recommendation=Combined size of all ESS*.IND files if possible; otherwise as large as possible                     given the available RAM.
         c.Recommended Data File Cache:
              Minimum=8 meg
              Default=32 meg
Recommendation=Combined size of all ESS*.PAG files if possible; otherwise as large as possible           given the available RAM, up to a maximum of 2Gb.
NOTE this cache is not used if the database is buffered rather than direct I/O (Check “Storage”           tab). Since all Planning databases are buffered, and most customers use buffered for native           Essbase applications too, this cache setting is usually not relevant.
         d. Recommended Data Cache:
              Minimum=3 meg
              Default=3 meg
Recommendation=0.125 * Combined size of all ESS*.PAG files, if possible, otherwise as large as           possible given the available RAM.
A good indication of the health of the caches can be gained by looking at the “Hit ratio” for the cache on the Statistics tab in EAS. 1.0 is the best possible, lower means lower performance.
    4. Check system resources:
Recommended virtual memory setting (NT systems): 2 to 3 times the RAM available. 1.5 times the RAM on older systems.
    Recommended disk space:
A minimum of double the combined total of all .IND and .PAG files. You need double because you have to have room for a restructure, which will require twice the usual storage space whilst it is ongoing.

  • My subtitles in Adobe Encore are extremely pixelated

My subtitles in Adobe Encore are extremely pixelated, even after I change the quality of the project. Any ideas how to make the text crisp and a nice looking resolution? The text should be flawless I would imagine- it's only text!
    Using CS5.5
Created and imported .txt file subtitles (currently don't have the means to create a .scc file)
The project settings are 1280x720, 29fr
I am using a simple text, Arial, 22pt, Bold outline.
The quality of the text is horrible! Help!
See screen shot below-- this is viewing at 200%

I'm sort of having the same problem. My most problematic text is a vector logo that is text based (thick script and sans serif). The original logo was created in Illustrator. My exported video (with scale-animated logo at the end) looks good enough, and I created a menu in Photoshop that also contains the logo in the background. I scaled the vector down when I placed it in both these instances. Previewing these elements in Encore CS6 they still look sharp and clear. But then burn the DVD, and the DVD played back looks awful. The entire menu is pixelated, but the script logo is the worst. Its terribly pixelated with humongous jaggies (the original video is HD 1440x1080 and the menu is also formatted that size). Then when the logo comes on in the video it is hard to read and there are black horizontal lines going through it.
I've tried changing project settings (not many options there) and export settings, but nothing I do helps the final burnt DVD at all.

  • Audio Levels when exporting are too low

so i tried searching the forums to find an answer, but couldn't really find one. Everytime i export a project from FCP (as WMV, Flash, Quicktime, whatever) the audio levels are extremely, extremely low...to the point that I have to bump them up to +12 and duplicate the audio layers several times. I have to imagine there's an easier way to doing this.. any ideas?
    thanks
    Paul

I didn't know you could export to WMV in Final Cut. Must be a new feature since the Apple/Microsoft merge....
As far as the audio, how are you monitoring it in FCP? You might have your speakers (or headphones) turned up really loud, so you think the levels are fine until you export. Also, look at the audio meter. You should judge the overall volume by that, not by your speakers. It's kind of like a waveform scope for audio.
Check on those two things and report back.
    jesse.
ps. just kidding on the merge. that'll start some rumors.

  • The volume of Youtube is extremely low, even maxed out.

I would say that for the past two-three weeks I've been having a problem where my Youtube volume in Firefox is extremely low. In order to hear anything really I have to have my Windows volume at 100%, my speaker volume maxed out, and Youtube volume at its highest.
I Watched the exact same youtube video in chrome and its so LOUD! I had to turn my windows volume to 50% and my speakers way down and it was still louder than Firefox. I searched for similar issues and found one that exactly matched my problem, I even followed the suggested steps to fixing the issue at hand but nothing has worked.
    Steps completed so far:
    -Fresh install
-Cleared cookies, cache, site preferences and offline data
    -re installing flash
    -Cleared flash cookies and settings
I dont want to abandon firefox but this issue is extremely annoying and there doesnt seem to be a logical fix available. Any help is appreciated.

    Philip,
I want to thank you for your suggestion. There was an issue where the volume for the Firefox application was turned down extremely low resulting in the issue at hand. I have since corrected this thanks to you!
    James,
I appreciate you trying to help but I explained in my question that I had the YouTube volume up to 100%.
