Voice vlan priority across wireless bridge network

Hello,
If you have a separate voice vlan across a wireless bridged network, how could you configure qos to put the entire voice vlan in priority over the data vlan ?
Thanks.

Hi Antonis,
Have a look at these docs. Hopefully they will help get you started;
Cisco Aironet 1300 Series Outdoor Access Point/Bridge Software Configuration Guide, 12.3(4) JA
Chapter 14 - Configuring QoS
This chapter describes how to configure quality of service (QoS) on your access point/bridge. With this feature, you can provide preferential treatment to certain traffic at the expense of others. Without QoS, the access point/bridge offers best-effort service to each packet, regardless of the packet contents or size. It sends the packets without any assurance of reliability, delay bounds, or throughput.
From this doc;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps5861/products_configuration_guide_chapter09186a00804158a6.html
Giving Priority to Voice Traffic
This section demonstrates how you can apply a QoS policy to your wireless network's voice VLAN to give priority to wireless phone traffic.
In this example, the network administrator creates a policy named voice_policy that applies voice class of service to traffic from Spectralink phones (protocol 119 packets). The user applies the voice_policy to the incoming and outgoing radio ports and to the outgoing Ethernet port for VLAN 77.
Use the Apply Policies to Interface/VLANs drop-down menus to apply policies to the access point Ethernet and radio ports. If VLANs are configured on the access point, drop-down menus for each VLANs' virtual ports appear in this section. If VLANs are not configured on the access point, drop-down menus for each interface appear.

  • Sending specific Vlan across wireless bridge

    Hello All,
I would like to know how I can send a specific VLAN across a wireless bridge.  Currently, we have a building across the street from our main office that's connected via a wireless bridge (no physical cabling).  One of the switches in building 1 has a port in VLAN 206 (10.20.6.0/24) which connects to the wireless bridge (10.20.6.3) on that building.  The wireless bridge in building 2 is 10.20.6.4 and connects to a router on the same subnet.  So both bridges, the switch in building 1, and the router in building 2 are all on the same subnet.  I need to send VLAN 60 across this wireless bridge so that the workstations in building 2 can go out to the Internet.  As a side note, VLAN 60 is unrouted and is it's own subnet which has it's own firewall and web filter.  My thought on this is that if I can get the wireless bridges to send VLAN 60 to building 2, then all I would need to do is add the workstations to that VLAN on the switch in that building and all should be well.  I'm just not sure what I need to configure on the bridges and how building 2 should be configured seeing that the 2nd bridge connects to a router instead of a switch.  Any tips, suggestions, and help would be great!
    Thanks,
    Terence

assume that i have two bridges Br-root , and Br-nonroot and i want to send traffic from multiple vlans across the wireless link, all you need to have is infrastructure-ssid on the native vlan. Then define the required subinterfaces on both radio and ethernet of root and non-root.
    Example: ( vlan 1 , 2 , and three )
    Root(config)#dot11 ssid test
                     #authentication open
                     #vlan 1
                     #infrastructure-ssid
                    #exit
    Root(config)#interface dot11radio 0
                     #ssid test
                     #station-role root bridge
                     #no shut
                    #exit
    Root(config)#interface dot11rdio0.1
                     #encapsulation dot1q 1 native
                    #bridge-group 1
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface dot11rdio0.2
                     #encapsulation dot1q 2
                    #bridge-group 2
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface dot11rdio0.3
                     #encapsulation dot1q 3
                    #bridge-group 3
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface fa0.1
                     #encapsulation dot1q 1 native
                    #bridge-group 1
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface fa0.2
                     #encapsulation dot1q 2
                    #bridge-group 2
                   #exit
    Root(config)#interface fa0.3
                     #encapsulation dot1q 3
                    #bridge-group 3
                   #exit
for the non-root , same config but the station-role should be non-root
    Enjoy

  • How to share external hard drive across wireless home network

    Hi.
I have just about completed converting my life from PC to Mac. I am very excited. I have three Macs at home and they are all blue tooth, etc. I am easily able to share a printer hooked to one of them, but can not find a way to find, share or use an external hard drive attached to another. How would one begin looking for that device in order to read from or write to it?
    Thanks.
    Farzad

I have 3 Macs Airport networked at home; one G4 has an extrnal hard drive attached. If that hard drive is on, when I log into the particular G4 computer from my iMac Duo2Core (Go>Connect to Server) I get the option of logging into the G4 "Macintosh HD" or to the attached "External Hard Drive." The User Accounts at home do not have Admin privileges to the other computers, except my iMac Duo2Core which has admin privileges to the other 2. I did nothing special in setting up the network. I don't know if I can log into the external from the other G4 which does not have admin privileges to the G4 with the hard drive - never had occasion to test.
So, you might first try a set up like mine, (one admin computer for the whole network, and if you can't access the hard drive from non-admin computers, then (and if safe) give all computers admin privilegs across your network (System Preferences>Accounts - check the box that says "Allow user to administrate this computer" - for each user account). If you have young kids or folks who shouldn't have admin privileges, I'd think long and hard about doing it the second way though.
    Hope this helps!

  • Cannot ping devices across wireless bridge

I have Aironet 1310's connected to each other and HP Procurve 2626's on the LAN side. Two VLANs, one for data and one for voice.
I cannot ping devices in the other building, but some I can. Sometimes I can ping others I wasn't able to ping before.
    Very frustrating, what's the deal?
    Please assist ASAP.
    Thanks,
    Ed

This might be a problem with the link. Run the carrier busy test to check for the interference on this channel . Try to change the channel.

  • Multiple VLANs over 1300 series bridges

    Hi
I am looking to connect a small external building to a main campus building by wireless bridge. The building i want to connect currently has two vlans, can the 1300 series bridges carry multiple vlans over the wireless bridge link? If so can anyone point me towards s document that explains it?
    Many thanks

    Hi Simon,
Yes they can, here is a link, i hope it helps you, look at the "Bridge configuration" title.

    macro auto built-in parameters ip_phone_desktop $native_vlan 348
but system could not modify $voice_vlan value.
    how to fix it ?

    Hi Skywings,
So I am guessing the above output is after the change, right? If this is true it looks like something went wrong during the configuration process. Auto Voice VLAN process has two main phases where the first one is related to communication between switches and other Cisco infrastructure devices and synchronizing the Voice VLAN ID. The second phase is related to identifying the end device as phone. What I can see in your case that the first phase is failing somehow since the voice VLAN ID is different than locally configured. Can you share with me your running and also startup config plus CDP neighbours? You may use private message.

  • Wireless bridge - encrypting all VLANs

I'm bridging two VLANs across a wireless bridge link. I have the following configuration:
    dot11 ssid bridge
    vlan 1
    authentication open
    interface Dot11Radio1
    ssid bridge
    station-role root bridge
    interface Dot11Radio1.1
    encapsulation dot1Q 1 native
    bridge-group 1
    interface Dot11Radio1.2
    encapsulation dot1Q 2
    bridge-group 2
    interface FastEthernet0
    interface FastEthernet0.1
    encapsulation dot1Q 1 native
    bridge-group 1
    interface FastEthernet0.2
    encapsulation dot1Q 2
    bridge-group 2
If I want to encrypt this link with WEP on all vlans, which configuration would apply?
    this?
    int dot11radio1
    encryption key 1 size 128bit 7 63D14E186CB92CC74122FD345E51 transmit-key
    encryption mode wep mandatory
    this?
    int dot11radio1
    encryption vlan 1 key 1 size 128bit 7 803EC038BBEA5C207F4663056E3B transmit-key
encryption vlan 1 mode wep mandatory
    or this?
    int dot11radio1
    encryption vlan 1 key 1 size 128bit 7 803EC038BBEA5C207F4663056E3B transmit-key
encryption vlan 1 mode wep mandatory
    encryption vlan 2 key 1 size 128bit 7 803EC038BBEA5C207F4663056E3B transmit-key
encryption vlan 2 mode wep mandatory

if anyone's interested, it appears that this config is enough:
    int dot11radio1
    encryption vlan 1 key 1 size 128bit 7 803EC038BBEA5C207F4663056E3B transmit-key
encryption vlan 1 mode wep mandatory
apparently, all VLANs become encrypted just with this config. WEP configuration for additional VLANs is ignored. I configured mismatching keys for vlan 2 on both sides, I could still bridge vlan 2 traffic.
This of course applies to bridging only. AP configuraiton would require correct keys for all vlans.

  • Vlan traffic is not passing through Wireless Bridge

    Hi,
Recently we have placed wireless bridge in our network (Cisco AIR-BR1410A-E-K9 model). Now after installing the bridge we are facing the issue like only the management interface traffic is reachable through bridge, but not able to reach other vlan traffic.
like management range is in vlan 1 (which inlcudes AP' Switch and router) and the bridge IP's are also in Vlan 1.
Switch port is kept in trunk mode both ends of bridge. still other vlan traffic is not reachable, do we have to place any special configuration for this ?
all the business users are in Vlan 3
all the sale team users are in vlan 123.
now problem is other end switches are reachable for me through bridge that is in vlan 1, but vlan 3 and vlan 123 are not reachable for me.users are not getting IP's, when we assigned the static ip address and tested still it is not working.
i am attaching my wireless bridge configuration in the discussion, please help on this issue.
    Root Bridge ---- Non--Rootbridge--- Cisco Switch--Cisco Switch..
now i am able to those two switch also, but not able to reach the vlan 3 users who are connected to that switches.

    Hi,
infrastructure-ssid has been placed at both end still not able to get IP's to the devices.
I am not able to attach txt files in the reply, could you please let me know your email ID so that i will send the config files to your ID.

  • Connecting two networks with wireless bridges

    Hello all,
We are trying to create a true CAN. We have 2 sets of 2 buildings each. One set is on the 172.23.x.x network and the other set is on the 172.25.x.x network. Each set has routing in place to go out over their respective MPLS circuits (which will be removed once this project is done). Each set also has their own vtp domain each containing ~30 vlans.
Right now, there is a wireless bridge at each set of buildings and they can reach each other fine according to the vendor. I am trying to figure out an efficient way to tie these two networks together keeping their current vlan and local topology in place.
    Site 1:
    Vlan 1: 172.23.1.x
    Wireless bridge: 172.25.1.x
    Site 2:
    Vlan 1: 172.25.1.x
    Wireless bridge: 172.25.1.x
Any help is appreciated. The idea is that all traffic from site two will now traverse the wireless bridge and use all resources and routing available at site 1.

OK wel now the only solution left for you re-designing the IP addressing or if you want same  ip address either increase the scope or range of ip address per vlan or use DHCP server to provid Half the address to both sides. but the interface connecting interface must be a Layer 3 or Layer 2 ports. The only concern should be DHCP server vlan over lapping can be manage by Configuing VTP (Client/Server) .
              (Switch) ====wireless------------------wireless====(switch)
Trunk (Layer2 port)                                                 Trunk (Layer2 port)
and for vlan just if one dhcp server  nothign to worry  and incase of multiple server just load balance it will also provide the reduncency in you network.
other option is simple using L3 approach and change the ip address only for resourches you want other people to access.

  • Share network traffic between 2 parallel wireless bridges - What kit?

    Dear All,
I'm a technology professional, but mainly in electronic design rather than high end networking. Hence my request for your advice.
I wish to specify some items of kit that I can ask a networking professional to fit and configure to solve my particular application.
I would like to use (and already have in place) two parallel wireless bridges between 2 buildings. One is on 2.4GHz and the other is on 5GHz. In my simple testing so far (of each link in turn), they both work brilliantly. So far, these are in place just for test purposes, but soon I will be required to make the system "live".
The reason I'm doing this is to split network traffic over both links (to possibly get enhanced bandwidth) but to mainly build in redundancy should one link fail.
What kit is required to do this (apart from the 4 access points configured as bridges)?
I imagine I may need a load balancing device(s) or possibly something more suitable for this task.
I'd like the solution to be very transparent to the rest of the system, I'd like it to "look" like it's a simple wireless bridge (but really it's a highly robust dual bridge). I hope my waffle makes sense.
    Any thoughts?
    Best regards,
    L.O.

You can certainly copy the addresses from one machine to the other - the contact files are held in user/Library/Application Support/AddressBook. Copy all files into the same respective location on the other machine (they will overwrite any existing contacts).
If you want the address books kept in sync, take a look at SyncTogether or SeeCard Rendezvous.

  • Multipmultiple Airport Extreme Base Stations: WDS Or "Extend Wireless Network" To Have Wired -- Wireless Bridge?

    Hello there!
I've been looking for this info, but have as yet been unable to find it. Here's my scenario:
I have two Airport Extreme Base Stations (both are dual band) and 3 airport expresses. The main internet connection in my house is in one room, where I have an AEBS as the main wireless router. In another room, I have a bunch of ethernet-only devices. I'd like to use the 2nd AEBS in this room, plug the ethernet devices into it and have the 2nd AEBS act as a wired <--> wireless bridge (connected to the same wireless network as the 1st AEBS). I've attempted this via "extend a wireless network," but the ethernet devices don't get past the AEBS they're plugged into. Should I instead be implementing WDS?
I mention the airport expresses as I'd like to have airtunes & wireless signal in other areas, but would like to keep the set-up as simple as possible (i.e., not config the AXes for WDS unless it's required).
Thanks in advance for any help!

Unlike the 802.11n AirPort Express Base Station (AXn), the 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn) cannot be configured as a wireless Ethernet bridge.
However, there are at least two ways to configure it to provide wired clients access:
Connect the second AEBSn back to the first by Ethernet; reconfigure the second AEBSn as a bridge and disable its wireless radios, or
Reconfigure both AEBSns into an extended wireless network. For 802.11n AirPorts, this would be called a dynamic WDS. The AEBSn, connected to the Internet would be the "main" base station and it would only require that you enable the "Allow this network to be extended" option in the AirPort Utility. The extending AEBSn would need to be configured with the option, Wireless Mode = Extend a wireless network, enabled.
In both configurations, the second AEBSn's Ethernet ports would be enabled for wired clients.

  • Qemu - Bridged networking with wireless adapter

How can I use bridged networking with wireless on Qemu virtual machine? With virtualbox it can be easily done. I don't why in Qemu it is so complicated, maybe virtualbox have completely difference mechacnism on this. I've read the wiki, it looks like impossible to use wireless for bridged networking. If it is really impossible, why virtualbox can do it?
And, in arch wiki's qemu manual, i didn't see how to use NetworkManager there to do bridged networking. Since, I use NetworkManager and disable the others (like netct and dhcpcd), it make it even more complicated. But, maybe it's because me that don't understand. Maybe someone experienced here can give me a way around this?

bagol wrote:How can I use bridged networking
It's up to you to set up the bridged network - or use TAP, e.g.:
ip tuntap add dev <devname> mode tap user <youruser>
    ip lin set <devname> up
    ip route ...
    ... and proxy_arp
... and iptables forwarding & masquerade
It's a good learning experience, to set up the network yourself, rather than have VirtualBox do similar things by *magic*

  • How do I make sure wireless bridge is on *my* wifi network?!?

Suppose I have a wireless bridge from Linksys, which lets my network disk be on my home wifi network. It's set up to grab an address via DHCP. But, I'm thinking - my neighbor also has a wifi network. How do I make sure the disk is talking to my Linksyst router, not to others that may be in the vicinity? The router has a MAC address filter, and that's great but it's the wrong direction: how do I make sure my wireless devices aren't talking to other people's wifi routers?
    Mike

To prevent your wireless devices from accidently connecting to a neighbor's system, you must set up wireless security.
You will need to enter the following information in both your wireless router and your wireless devices:
    1)  a unique SSID - this identifies your network
    2)  your chosen method of encryption
    3)  your encryption key
You should be able to set your "network disk" (or the bridge that it is using) to only connect to the wireless system that matches 1, 2, and 3 above.
For more on wireless security, see my previous post at:
