Volume Licensing and KMS questions

I've been reading up on MS licensing all week and still slightly unsure of what we need.
We are revamping our infrastructure and need new licensing. We have 150 Win 7 Pro OEM (and some Win 8 Pro OEM licensed  computers that have been downgraded to Win 7 Pro OEM) computers and are getting 4 physical Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard servers.
We would also like to add some virtual servers to those.
From what I've researched, we can just purchase a single
Microsoft®Windows®ServerStandard 2012R2 Sngl OLP 1License LevelC 2Proc
for $865 (used quick quote from MS website). This will give us a KMS host key to install on a 2012 server. We can then reimage Win 7 Pro and other 2012 servers and they will be able to activate with KMS.
Is all this correct? Or do I need to purchase separate Server 2012 and Windows 7/8 VLK's?
I read somewhere that this will also grant access to ISO files for imaging that already have the KMS client key or do not need a key at all? Or can we take any Windows image and apply the corresponding KMS client key to it and use that for imaging?

We are going to end up re-imaging all of our machines, current and future, anyway. I should just be able to use any ISO to create an image and implement the KMS client key there or during deployment, yes? Not gonna buy a client license just for an ISO that
I don't need.
Is software assurance recommended? I saw an advantages chart of it and noticed it included new product versions, license mobility, and virtual desktop allowance, but not much detail about what each of these means exactly. It seems to be something we'll probably
want though.
reimaging rights, can be a little tricky:
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/about-licensing/briefs/reimaging.aspx
Here is an overview and some scenarios for customising/reimaging:
https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff730914.aspx
Note that there are some limitations about customising if you *don't* have a VL agreement..
SA benefits:
http://www.microsoft.com/licensing/software-assurance/by-product.aspx#tab=2
There are many benefits to SA, but the value of each benefit varies according to your organisation.
It's also worth noting that when you purchase a product (e.g. new computers with OEM Windows license), within 90 days or purchase you can enrol them in SA, and I think that might be less expensive that if you attach SA later on. But you'd want to consider
that you'll get your value from doing that, compared to some other agreement approach. There are lots of ways to bundle things up to get discounts, many different offerings across different licensing programmes.

  • Windows 8.1 Volume license and FPP

    Hi Team,
    A couple of questions:
Question 1. If you buy a WinPro 8.1 SNGL OLP NL Legalization GetGenuine (Microsoft part number: FQC-08147); can you transfer the license from one PC to another if the current PC where the license is installed crashes and becomes unusable?
Question 2. If you install WinPro 8.1 SNGL OLP NL Legalization GetGenuine (Microsoft part number: FQC-08147) and somehow the PC crashes; would you be able to re-install the same license on the same PC after the PC is repaired and restored?

    Hi Mukesh Beri ,
As far as I am concerned ,one license is used for one machine .
Considering this is a volume license issue ,it is recommended to contact our volume license support directly. We will get more detailed information there.

  • Windows 8 pro is volume licensed and i cannot update to window 8.1

A month back, i bought a laptop from lenevo which has a window 8 pro (volume licensed) version. Now i am not able to update to windows 8.1 through the windows store. I use this laptop for my home use and i dont know how to update the OS now. Pls suggest
on what can be done.I cannot go back to Lenevo store because i have moved out of that state(area).

    Hi,
Windows 8 Pro, if installed by an organization or a program that uses Volume Licensing, talk to your system admin, or the administrator of the program that was used to install Windows 8:

  • Downgrade windows 8 enterprise to windows 7 enterprise under volume license and steps for installing windows 7 enterprise.

How to downgrade from windows 8 enterprise to windows 7 enterprise under volume license? and what are the steps for installing windows 7 enterprise?

The link provided by v-yamliu works good.
Steps for installing Windows 7 Enterprise can differ based on the method of installation.
Windows 7 Enterprise, being an enterprise product, is usually installed on PCs count of 20 and above. Also, organisations usually modify the standard installation image to suit the organisation's needs and policies. In doing so, they define the way the Enterprise
edition can be installed. They can be ZTI (Zero Touch Installation) or LTI (Lite Touch Installation). The following links will be helpful in this case:

    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd919179(v=ws.10).aspx
If the above case is not true and only a standard image is being used, you can perform clean install as mentioned by v-yamliu. The following link will be helpful:

  • How do I determine if my version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 is a volume license and can be deployed remotely and silently across my network?

Someone in our organization purchased a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 from Best Buy.  It now needs to be deployed across the network and the deployment instructions at Silent install instructions | Adobe Premiere Elements 10 | Volume License version | Windows, explicitly state: Only Enterprise customers can perform the following procedures to silently install Adobe Premiere Elements 10 on Windows with an Adobe volume license (AVL).  I'm assuming that I probably have the wrong version of the software, but is there a way that I can tell definitively?

EricPriest if the serial number is registered on http://www.adobe.com/ then it is likely a retail serial number.  Volume license serial numbers are located at https://licensing.adobe.com/.  You can find more details at Find your serial number quickly - http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/find-serial-number.html.
If you wish to purchase a volume license for Photoshop Elements then I would encourage you to contact Adobe directly or an authorized volume license reseller.  The copy you received from Best Buy is likely a retail version suitable for use by one individual to utilize on up to two computers.

  • Remove volume license and install individual licence

Previously, my iMac had a Volume licensed copy of Logic Express 9 installed. I deleted it, and installed my own copy, but when I start up Logic, it launches using the volume license instead of asking for my license. How can I delete the volume license?
    Thanks,
    Doug Gough

    Delete this file
    /Library/Application Support/ProApps/Logic Express System ID
after that, you should be able to enter your new serial#

Acrobat doesn't have Deactivate button under Help menu, please see the link in order to deactivate the product: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/activation-deactivation-products.html. Check out the section which talks about Deactivation problems if you can't find Deactivate button under Help.

  • I was sold acrobat through volume licensing and need help installing on my new surface.

Need help with accessing volume license purchase so I can download the software to my new computer.  I can't see it under my purchase history.

I think you should be able to just download & install it, then activate it with your serial number.

  • Acrobat Connect Pro Meeting Service Plans - licensing and pricing questions

Hello! I was hoping someone here might be able to help me with a few nitty-gritty pricing / licensing / functionality questions, in regard to the Adobe Connect Pro Meeting plans.
    1) The pricing is $55/mth/host - if you have, e.g., 5 hosts, but make more than 5 recorded meetings available on-demand, will they all be accessible at any given moment?
    2) 25 concurrent users is the limit; is that per recorded meeting? e.g., if 15 people access one recorded meeting and 15 people access another recorded meeting, all at the same time, would you be over your limit?
    3) If you do happen to go over your concurrent user limit, what will happen for the 26th user? will they be denied access, or will you simply be charged an overage fee?
I'd appreciated any help or insight you have to offer!

I assume you got this pricing from the on-line website?  I ask because when you buy it from Adobe enterprise sales and through our corporate channel then this is all different.
    Answers:
    1. Yes. On-Demand recordings don't apply against your license.
    2. No. That 25 limnit is for concurrent live meetings. It's unlimited for on-demand recordings. That 25 limnit is completely set by the kind of license you are buying. if you purchased thru the software channel versus on-line then that number would be 100 not 25. On-Demand recordings have no limit.
    3. If you exceed the concurrent license, then the 26th person trying to join will receive a pop-up message saying the room limit has been reached and they will not be able to join. Yes, denied access. No way to charge a fee for overage.

  • Licensing and upgrade questions

We have an unlimited user Xserve 10.3 running as a web server. We only have 3 actual users, but many web clients.
For us to upgrade to Server 10.4: can we get by with the 10 user site license, instead of the unlimited one we have now?
And is there an upgrade, or do we need to buy the 10.4 server complete package, as seems to be the case?
    Xserve   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

    1) Upgrades from 10.3 "unlimited" to 10.4 "10-client" aren't supported... so you'll definitely need to do a format and reinstall.
    2) There's no upgrade pricing. The best way to get a license break is to get OS X Server maintenance -- it's the price of the upgrade ($999) and gives you all updates for the next 3 years. The catch is -- that you must be on the most recent version of the OS (i.e. 10.4 Server) to purchase it.
Your only option, thus, is to buy the complete package, as you noted.

  • Acrobat X volume license and error 16

i have a network share that was setup for the install of Acrobat X.  I set it up via this guide and updated it with the current updates.
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/AdminGuide/aip.html
Now on all my users that i have isntaleld it on i get error 16 when you open the program.  If i right click the executbale and set it to run as adminsitrator it runs jsut fine but they can't open up a file acorss the netowkr.  it says that file is corrupted.  I know this is nothign but a license issue and the workstation is trying to access somehtign on the PC.  These people all have admin rights to the PC.  In also tried this link and it still doesn't work.

  • Lightroom 5 perpetual license and updates question

    Hi,
I'm looking to buy a boxed version of Lightroom 5.
I wonder if this would permit me to future upgrade to latest version (e.g. as of now is 5.6 if I understand correctly).
    Thanks.

If you have a perpetual license you do not want to get the product thru the Creative Cloud.

  • Upgrade Gurus- CS 5 volume license, CS 5.5 retail upgrade can't install, upgrading to CS 6?

    Hi,
I have run into a very interesting problem at work and need confirmation about some information I received.  We have six computers with various versions of Creative Suite 5 (Design Standard, Master Collection, etc.) installed on these computers.  These are all volume licensed projects.  A few years ago we puchased Creative Suite 5.5 upgrades.  These upgrades are retail licenses.  We have recently purchased new computers and tried to install Creative Suite 5.5 on them.  However, Adobe is telling us that because Creative Suite 5 was a volume license and the Creative Suite 5.5 upgrade was a retail license, we could only perform this upgrade once.  This means only our old computers can have CS 5.5 installed and our new computers are stuck with CS 5.  Which is just wrong.  However, we are sick of wasting time with Adobe and are willing to upgrade our new computers to CS 6 (and get rid of the old computers).  So here is the question- can we purchase CS 5.5 to CS 6 upgrades (retail license of course) and just use the CS 5.5 serial numbers when we upgrade our CS 5 computers to CS 6?
Cliff Notes:  Do I need CS 5.5 installed in order to use a CS 5.5 to CS 6 upgrade or do I just need the CS 5.5 serial numbers?

I have the same issue. Cleaner tool does not hetl, at least in my case. Do you mean that the whole CS5.5 Master Collection should be uninstalled? I have tried everything else:
I tried to uninstall, but Flash Builder was not listed among the programs, maybe I have uninstalled it earlier or it is inclkuded in CS5.5
I deleted all Flash Builder related files, no help
Then I deleted all Flash Builder related registry entries, no success
Finally I downloaded the cleaner tool, its action options do not include anything Flash Builder Releted.
I simply can't get rid of the conflicting version
