VPN Redundancy With Same Peer
I have 1 ISP-A line in SiteA
Peer : 10.10.10.10
I have many S2S Tunnels between my SiteA - RemoteSites, i have redundancy when there is a hardware failure in SiteA, but if the ISP link fails there
there is no backup.
If i take another ISP-B i will get diffrerent IP Adress than ISP-A, but my RemoteSites are not agreening on configuring Second Peer as backup.
So what is the way where the VPN tunnel should work with ISP-B with same Peer(ISP-A:10.10.10.10) if the ISP-A is donw.
Hi,
I see sorry. I haven't read through this article properly so apologies if it doesn't cover what I say it does.
But I believe you can also (again IOS version dependant) track ICMP availability. E.g. can I ping www.cisco.com? If yes its up if not fail over. You can configure timers etc. Obviously this adds a slight overhead in terms of traffic.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t4/feature/guide/gtfhrp.html
The other way I believe you could go about it is configuring the two routers with IPsec High availability and detect the dead peers with DPD. I don't have any config etc to hand I am afraid but a search on IPsec High Availability may turn something up.
Thanks

Hi, maybe somebody have an idea to set a vpn redundancy when my peer are not able to:
configure 2 public IPs on the same VPN
configure the 2 VPNs with the same local network address
I have 2 internet provider and i want to use a backup in case of primary internet goes down.
thank for your help.
Toni.Hello,
The RV320 has a VPN Backup feature. From the admin guide:
"Tunnel Backup—When DPD determines that the remote peer is unavailable, this feature enables the router to reestablish the VPN tunnel by using either an alternative IP address for the remote peer or an alternative local WAN interface. Check the box to enable this feature and enter the following settings. This feature is available only if Dead Peer Detection is enabled"

How to build 2 L2L vpn tunnels pointing to the same peer.
I have a Cisco ASA 5505 on one side and a VMware device on the remote. I have a vpn tunnel currently. I need to establish a second tunnel to the same peer. Because VMware is used on the remote side they can't have the more than one subnet on the tunnel. I need two internal subnets to communicate to the remote peer. Please help.
Thanks,
KenHi Tzy,
Two tunnels for same traffic on a same device is not possible but you can configure a redundancy for the 2 cellular links for the same traffic.
But if the traffic are different for both the ACLs, the the tunnels should come up but you need to define routes as to which traffic would use what interface.
if there is a def route pointing to interface cell0/0/1 then all traffic will be taken using that interface, and you would then need to define either a static route for access-list 102 or a route-map to direct the traffic to the cell0/0/2 interface.
On the ASA, you just need to configure the settings for a dynamic VPN tunnel.
Hope that helps.
Cheers,

Hi guys,
I'm having trouble connecting my new MacBook Air to Cisco Anytime Connect VPN.
The same configuration works with my iMac, in the same network and same Mac OS Mountain Lion on both computers.
After successfully connecting to VPN after a few seconds it gets disconnected and, what is worse, WIFI is not working any more in my macBook Air, I need to deactivate it and start again.
With iMac with the same settings it doesn't happen.
Any ideas?
Thanks!Did you power cycle the network? That's always the first thing you want to do if a device is "missing" or not connecting to your network correctly.
If you have not already tried this a few times, power down the entire network...all devices, order is not important.
Wait a few minutes and place the MBAir close to the TC
Start the modem first and let it run a few moments by itself. Then start the TC if it is the device connected to the modem and let it run a few moments. Then start each device one at a time the same way. -
Remote Access VPN Problem with ASA 5505
After about ~1 year of having the Cisco VPN Client connecting to a ASA 5505 without any problems, suddenly one day it stops working. The client is able to get a connection to the ASA and browse the local network for only about 30 seconds after connection. After that, no access is available to the network behind the ASA. I tried everything that I can think of to try and troubleshoot the problem, but at this point I am just banging my head against a wall. Does anyone know what could cause this?
Here is the running cfg of the ASA

Any help would be appreciated, thanks!I made the change that you requested by moving the VPN pool to the 192.168.3.0 network. Unfortunately, now traffic isn't flowing to the inside network at all. I was going to make a specific route as you suggested, but as far as I can see the routes are already being created correctly on the VPN client's end.
Here is the route print off of the computer behind the (test) client:

ASA 5510 Anyconnect VPN question-"Hairpin" vpn connection on same external interface
I have a Cisco ASA 5510, I want to allow a VPN connection to be established by a client on one of the inside interfaces(10.20.x.x) to be able to go out the single External interface and get authenticated by the ASA to create a VPN tunnel to the other inside interface (10.0.X.X) and access resources on that subnet.
Basically want clients on a WLAN to be able to VPN back in to the LAN with the ASA in the middle to get to company resources,
Is this possible?
Thanks,
TommyWhen we connect any VPN on a device then it is always a TO THE DEVICE connection and I am afraid we can connect only to the local / nearest interface where user is connected in a network with respect to ASA.
I have seen this scenario working though earlier with one of my clients wherein he has configured his DNS server accordingly so that depending upon the source of the DNS request an appropriate IP address was provided for same DNS name. For example if user from IP address range 192.168.0.0 range connects to abc.com then it will get IP address 192.168.1.1 and if a user from range IP address10.0.0.0 connects then it will get 10.1.1.1.
If we configure the same scenario as well then your requirement will be fulfiled with same name however VPN has to be enabled on wireless interface again. If not, then as you have described configuring a new domain name for VPN connection only for wireless users should do the deal.

How to create device IDs with same name
i am using SE 3310 and its creating different device ids for each node sharing it . since I will be building a RAC enviornment I need these IDs/name to be same .
for example on one node the lun id is /dev/rdsk/c3t0d0s6 but the same lun id on node 2 is /dev/rdsk/c2t0d0s6.
In past with an old storage array I fixed this issue by creating links in /dev/rdsk for c3t0d0s6 ---> c2t0d0s6.
my question is : is there a way in SE3310 that device ids get created with same name or do i still have to rely on creating these soft links ?
thanks
Note: since i need the answer to this quickly i will wait a while and then post this question in other forums and i will update the question here with the answer .This could be a Solaris (I presumed) O.S. question rather than SE3310 or storage question.
The logical device (/dev/[r]dsk/*) is the work of the O.S. when it first configures the device, in this case the LUN from your SE3310. I can go in depth on how the cX number happens (due to device probe order, driver differences, history of device discovery due to need of persistent device naming, etc...) but ... it's a really long story and is really quite irrelevant and most people should not be interested...
If you have COMPLETELY identical servers, i.e. identical hardware down to specific HBA in specific slot are the same, and if you make sure that luns are presented to all servers exactly the same way, same order, and any changes are seen by all servers in the same sequence, in theory, all /dev/rdsk/* devices will be consistent across servers.
But that's still rather irrelevant. Application that is designed to work in a redundant environment should not be dependent on logical devices like /dev/rdsk being the same.
So ... in effect this is also not a question for the Solaris forum, but rather a question for those familiar with RAC, how to configure such that device access is done "safely" through actually identifying the lun rather than assuming /dev/rdsk are consistent. -
N+1 redundancy with 2504-HA
Hello,
I have question regarding N+1 redundancy with 2504-HA WLC.
Can I use 2504-HA unit for H+1 redundancy? SSO is not needed
I have two wireless network:
1. With WLC 5508 with about 40 AP(1262), all them are A regulatory domain
2. With WLC 2504, with about 30 Mesh AP(1552), all of them are E regulatory domain
I plan to use two 2504-HA units for backups, one for network with WLC5508 and second for network with WLC2504.
In case N+1 redundancy is management with Prime mandatory ?Hi,
Better to use same model and same software.
Case1: You have 5508WLC
Solution from my side: You must buy a another WLC with HA SKU license(Zero AP license). This wlc can work as N+1 and AP SSO as well as Client SSO but with higher version of code(7.5 or higher).
Case2: You have 2504 WLC
Solution: You must buy a another 2504 HA WLC: AIR-CT2504-HA-K9, that only supports N+1(No AP SSO and NO Client SSO)

IPad 2 VPN access with iOS 7.1
I updated one of my iPads to iOS 7.1. The upgrade went smoothly but now when I connect to a VPN service (strongvpn) the performance is terrible and I can no longer stream videos through the VPN. My other iPad which I have not updated yet continues to work fine with the VPN as does my iPhone 4s which has also been updated to 7.1. I have used the ookla speed test and get about a 40Mb/s download speed when not connected to the VPN this drops to under 1Mb/s when I run the test after I connect to the VPN . The other iPad and iPhone get about 12Mb/s download speed via the VPN.
I have tried turning off other features like cellular data, Bluetooth etc but nothing changes. I even went so far as to completely reset the iPad and start from scratch but whatever I try I cannot get any improvement in the download speed when connected through the VPN so streaming video is impossible.
I have been in contact with Strongvpn but they have no idea what is going on. All my other devices continue to perform well - just this iPad since it was updated.
Has anyone else who uses Strongvprn successfully updated their iPad 2 without issue?
Thanks in advance for any tips or feedbackJust got an android tablet for less than $250. Less powerful processor, but what would you know? Runs VPN and the same streaming apps perfectly for some strange reason. Can AirPlay to my Apple TV and use it as a remote for the Apple TV. Internet works faster than my iPad 4 too. I wasn't going to wait months for an update/fix with not new functionality and only minor aesthetic differences (plus iOS in the car!).
Hasn't crashed once in 2 days. Haven't been able to say that about my iPad in nearly 6 months.
Good luck guys!
2 mac book airs, 2 iPhones, 2 apple TVs, 2 iPads, Mac, TimeCapsule and bunch of crappy cables that break every six months. Let's see how the software updates go for those. -
Release Strategy - Object "ZX NX" already classified with same characterist
Hi Gurus
While modifiying the exist release strategy the following error occurs.
Object "ZX NX" already classified with same characteristic values
Message no. C1818
Diagnosis
Object ZX NX was already classified with the same characteristic values. In class maintenance, you define whether a warning message or error message is displayed in these circumstances. This message draws your attention to the possibility of data redundancy.
Procedure
Change the assigned characteristic values, so that you do not have redundancy in your system.
Perhaps the object you are classifying is not necessary, because it can be replaced by the object found by the system.
Please advice on this.
Thanks in advance
ARASHi
Thanks for your input. I will test this and come back.
Experts, any further inputs...

Can I use both newly cloned MBPR retina and old-MBP with same Time Machine
When my new-MBPR retina cloned from the old-MBP back up in Time Machine via migration assistance, will this newly-cloned MBPR continue thereon backing up with the same old-MBP back up in Time Machine? I.e. continuing same timeline?
And what happen to my old-MBP back up, if I continuing to use my old-MBP with the same Time Machine on? Will TM recognised 2 different MBP and thus creating 2 back ups? I seem to have problem to keep 2 MBP running with same TM. Programs not responding even force quitting them!
And what should I do to use both? Appreciate your help. Thank you.OK, but in general I can use this one device as both file storage and Time Machine.
I thought that (for some reason) once I set up the Time Capsule to act just as Time Machine storage I would be unable to access it as a plain file storage.
I have just tested it now, and it seems it can work as both - file storage and Time Machine. I can see the Time Machine backup file on it and folders where I can dump regular files.
The only thing I would need to occasionally do is delete some old backups to keep Time Machine segment below 1 TB just so I have plenty of space for regular files.
This thing is awesome. :) -

ASA , Cisco VPN client with RADIUS authentication
Hi,
I have configured ASA for Cisco VPN client with RADIUS authentication using Windows 2003 IAS.
All seems to be working I get connected and authenticated. However even I use user name and password from Active Directory when connecting with Cisco VPN client I still have to provide these credentials once again when accessing domain resources.
Should it work like this? Would it be possible to configure ASA/IAS/VPN client in such a way so I enter user name/password just once when connecting and getting access to domain resources straight away?
Thank you.
Kind regards,
AlexHi Alex,
It is working as it should.
You can enable the vpn client to start vpn before logon. That way you login to vpn and then logon to the domain. However, you are still entering credentials twice ( vpn and domain) but you have access to domain resources and profiles.
thanks

Mavericks VPN dropouts with native VPN client and Cisco IPSec
Since update to Maverics I am experiencing VPN dropouts with native VPN client and Cisco IPSec
I am connecting via a WIFI router to a remote VPN server
The conenction is good for a while but eventually it drops out.
I had Zero issues in mountain lion and only have issues since the update to 10.9
I had similar issues in teh past with an unrelaibel wifi router but i am using a Verizon Fios router and it has worked impecably until mavericks
My thoughts are:
1 -issue with mavericks ( maybe the app sleep funciton affecting eithe VPN or WIFI daemons)
2- Issue with cisco router compaitibility or timing with Cisco IPSEC
3- Issue with WIFI itself on mavericks - some sort of WIFI software bug
Any thousuggestions?Since update to Maverics I am experiencing VPN dropouts with native VPN client and Cisco IPSec
