Want Content Organizer to overwrite files from Drop Off library not add new.

If I put a file into the Drop Off library that already exists in the target library it appends a set of random characters to the filename and uploads as a new file. I want to overwrite the existing file (maintaining the Document ID) so that we can preserve
links to the file and a quick check of the library shows if all files have been updated from a data call.
Is this possible?
There is no overwrite checkbox in the Drop Off library upload dialog.

Within the library settings of the recipient/receiver library e.g. Site Assets, make sure that there is at least minor versioning set. In addition, within the Content Rule Organizer Settings panel, make sure that in the Duplicate Submissions section, the
'Use SharePoint versioning' is selected.

    Hi Team,
I am trying to move the .pdf files from drop-off library to custom library.
For the above requirement i am writing content organizer rule condition like (On Group: Document content types & Type: Document)
    Property: Name
    Operator: Ends with
    value: .pdf
and Setting value in target location like
    /sites/MS/ProductGuides
    How to solve the issue
    If help appriciated
    Regards,
    Dhaya

    Hi Dhaya,
I created a Content Organizer rule like this:
When uploading a .pdf file to the Drop Off library, it is moved to the destination library immediately:
I suggest you create a similar rule as above for another test to see if the issue still persists.
    Thanks

  • Document corrupted when sending file to drop off library using records repository submit file method (official file web service is used)

I am trying to submit files to drop off library through a simple web application. I could see the documents submitted to drop off library but the contents in it have got corrupted.
    string recordRouting = "Test Original Document";
    using (Officialfilewebservice.RecordsRepository f = new officialfilewebservice.RecordsRepository())

      Dictionary<string, string> metadata = new Dictionary<string, String>();

    Hi,
According to your post, my understanding is that you want to upload files to drop off library.

  • Routing from Drop Off library - How to maintain same folder structure in target library after routing

    Hello,
After routing from drop off library to other target library, how can I maintain folder structure dynamically.
    For example
Inside Drop off library user creates folder on monthly basis
    1. Drop Off > Feb > Document 1
    2. Drop Off > March > Document 1
Now after routing i want to have same folder structure created inside target library. So target should library look like
    Target Lib > Feb > Document 1
    Target Lib > March > Document 1
Please Note - folder creation in drop off library happens every month, and user can choose any Name for these folders, so here I can not consider Static Routing rules.
    Kindly help me out.
    Thanks!!!
    Mayank Nigam

The content organizer can't do that. If you really need this functionality, you'll need a workflow to do it. But you also need to consider if the use of folders per month is really what you want here. Maybe you'd prefer to use metadata instead of folders
    for grouping.

  • I want to transfer my iTunes files from an old computer to my new one.

How do I get my iTunes files from my old computer to my new one?

    See Here for one way
iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
    Or...
From your Old Computer, or its Backup, Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
    Tunes to an External Drive
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.

  • Want to remove Lossless files from dual-format library, keep elsewhere

My iTunes library consists entirely of music ripped from audio CDs. Each CD was ripped twice, once in Apple Lossless format, once in AAC format.
For several reasons (chief among them the desire to free up a lot of disk space on my iMac), I want to remove the Lossless files from my iTunes library. But I want to keep all of the AAC files there as they are, along with my playlists (all based on the AAC files only).
However, for a measure of future-proofing, I still want to keep the Lossless files. And whenever I buy a CD, I want to still import it as both Lossless and AAC, keeping the Lossless files handy while adding the AAC files to the iTunes library.
I must obviously begin with an external Firewire drive big enough for my Lossless content. How do I proceeed from there?

I would take this approach, but others might have better suggestions.
First, when you get your external drive, copy the entire iTunes folder to the external drive which will copy everything (media files, database files, artwork, etc.).
Assuming you use the iTunes default settings where iTunes copied added items to your iTunes folder and organizes your library (meaning - everything is all self contained in the iTunes folder), then all you have to do is drag & drop your iTunes folder (not just the iTunes Music folder you find inside the iTunes folder) to the external drive and copy the entire thing.
If you want to test that it worked or would like to actually start using it from that location instead, use these instructions when you start iTunes to point it to the new location...
How to open an alternate iTunes Library file or create a new one
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304447
If you are just testing, then close iTunes after you verify it works, and restart iTunes again with the same instructions and point it back to your internal drive (original) location. Now you can sort your library by "Kind" which is the format it is encoded as and all the Apple Lossless files will be grouped together. Select the first one, scroll down to the last one, Shift-Select the last one which will select all the ones in between and hit delete! Now your internal drive library is everything except Apple Lossless.
If you wish, you can switch back to the external drive library and do the same for the AAC files.
Now when ever you add a new CD you can do it a couple ways. But probably the most straight forward is to simply put in the CD, open the internal library, import as AAC files. Switch to the external library and import again as lossless.

  • Drop Off Library and Content Organizer Rules allow bypassing of destination permissions

I had a test scenario where
User Betty didn’t have permissions to a destination library (only I had permissions to it)
Via the Content Organizer rule and the Drop Off library, Betty could send a document to a library where she didn’t have access.
Anyone addressing this issue and how?  We just don't want people to be able to send things to a destination where they don't have access, but looks like the Content Organizer Rules impersonate some part of the move.
What's odd is you can see the "CreatedBy" as Betty, but she can't go to the library and even see the moved document...permission is denied.

    Hi Bubberz1,
This is the known and documented behavior of the content organizer. To prevent someone from using the content organizer in this way, you'd need to prevent them from having access to add documents in the drop off library in the first place, or else
use some other process, such as workflows, to move the documents using the creator's permissions.

  • Content Organizer bug - PDF files does not get routed correctly if autodeclaration is on and library level default values are set

It looks like whenever one specifies Column default values at a library level then the content organizer routing goes a bit awry SPECIFICALLY FOR NON OFFICE FILES [e.g. PDF] . Below are the observations and issues
    1. Column level default value set on a record library with auto declaration of records turned on.  The content organizer routes the document to the library but also keeps a copy of the document in the drop off library. It does not remove it from the drop
off library. The instant we clear the default value settings at the library level of the target library the content organizer works as expected again.
    2. If default value settings are specified on a column in the target library then the PDF file gets routed to the document library but all the metadata is blanked out. The copy of the file that remains in the drop off library has all the correct metadata but
the target library has blanked out metadata.
Are the 2 observations described above by design or are they bugs? If so is there any documentation that is available that proves this because this does not make logical sense and proving this to a client in the absence of any documentation is a challenge.
The problem goes away if we shift the default value to the site columns directly at the site collection level. It's just the library level defaults that the pdf files do not seem to agree with

    Hi Lisa,
Thanks for responding. This can be replicated in any environment but is only replicable for a specific combination of content organizer settings . The combination of settings I am referring to can be seen in the screenshot below. If you turn off redirect
users to the drop off library for direct uploads to libraries and if you turn on sharepoint versioning then you should be able to replicate the issue. Also we are using managed metadata site columns. I simplified this use case to a custom content content type
with just 2 custom managed metadata columns and can still replicate the issue in several environments. Also note the issue does not occur if the default values are set at the site or site collection level. It only occurs if you set the column value default
at a library level.  I was able to replicate this on a completely vanilla Enterprise records site collection freshly created just to test this.  Also note that the issue is not that the file does not reach the destination library. The issue is the
document does not get removed from the drop off library after it is transfered to the destination library which technically should have gotten removed.

  • Help on how to read the content of an XML file from the payload

I have a receiver channel / mail adapter, that sends e-mails with a XML attachment.
I’m trying to write a Bean, that should make it possible to rename the attached XML file dynamically.
In the Bean I want to read the content of the attached XML file, it could be the “order number”.
The filename should then be “Order number”.XML.

  • I want to save large pdf files from my computer to my iPad so I can view them in Adobe Reader.

I want to save large pdf files from my computer to my iPad so I can view them in Adobe Reader. I do not want to view them in iBooks or Quickoffice. Since I cannot email these large files, how can I get them on my iPad? Thanks for your help.

I think that Adobe reader supports file sharing.
Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes. Select the iPad on the left side under "devices". Click on the Apps Tab in the window on the right. Scroll down to the File Sharing Apps list under the main apps list. Click on Adobe Reader. Drag the documents into the file sharing window on the right or select them using the "add" button.
Launch the Adobe reader app and the files should be in there.

  • Want to convert the .DAQ file from MAX to a text file to be included with data runs for experiments.

I want to take the .DAQ file from the MAX program and convert it to a text file. From my understanding this file contains all the information for the channels and hardware that is currently set up on the system. I want to use this data as a file so that others can set up the experiment again in the future and this data would be helpful. Thanks in advance for any help in regard to this matter.

    HAL;
I'm attaching a Labview example to this answer which does that with the properties of your virtual channels configuration in MAX. Other than that, there isn't any way, at this time, to convert the .daq file to a text file.
    Hope this helps.
