Want to hide button in a form if it is in insert mode

Dear Sir,
i am just developing some portal database provider forms and reports, i am calling a from
from one report using , and i just want to hide some button ex: save button in
the form and display the update button only when i call that form in the query
mode from the form using 3_d parameter , as both save and update buttons are
displayed when i call in any mode which i do not want
scenario :
1- create a portal db provider report using sql query on some table ex: employees table
2- include a link in that report to a form created on the same table ex: employees
with passing of parameter emp_no
ex: ''||emp_no||''
3- if the call in the query mode using 3d parameter (&p_arg_names=_emp_no_cond&p_arg_values=%3D) using note 248297.1,
when clicking on the link in the report on the emp_no the form appears with the
emp information displayed on the form and both ( save and update ) buttons
appearing
all that is working fine
is it possible to display the update button only without the save button on the form when this call in the query
mode happens???
note : i want the save button to be displayed only without the update button if i am running the form in the insert mode ( directly not from
report call)
please help ASAP. as it is urgent need
best regards
Ahmed Hussein

Usually, when you use a url like the example below to go to a portal form, the record will be queried up in the form, the Insert (Save) button will be hidden, and only the Update and Reset buttons will be shown. If you follow a url to the form without the "&p_arg_names=_EMPNO_COND&p_arg_values=%3D" in the url, it brings up the form in Insert mode with the Insert (Save), Query, and Reset buttons being shown and the Update button hidden.
To troubleshoot, double-check the URL in your report to make sure it is passing all the parameters with the correct p_arg_values for moduleid and COLUMNNAME (e.g. EMPNO). Here's an example:
http://your.portal.com/portal/pls/portal/PORTAL.wwa_app_module.link?p_arg_names=_moduleid&p_arg_values=012346789&p_arg_names=COLUMN_NAME&p_arg_values=123&p_arg_names=_COLUMN_NAME_COND&p_arg_values=%3D

• How to Hide buttons in HCM forms

Hi Experts,
In "Transfer" forms, with out filling mandatory fields if I press button "Check and Send" then I get a extra button called "Continue". When I click on "Continue" it takes me to the next page without asking me to fill mandatory fields. Here I want to hide that "Continue" button.
Like wise in "End of Probation & Short Term Contract" forms, with out filling the mandatory fields if I press button "Check and Send" then I get a extra button called "Forward to Expert". In my case I want to hide "Forward to Expert" button also.
Please help me to fix these issues.

You do not need to add this field to your list. In the view V_T588MFPROPS (SAP delivered), this field is set as mandatory. In configuration, you must maintain the view V_T588MFPROPC (Customer area) and make sure the field is not set to mandatory. This will override the SAP delivered setting and the error message will be not be displayed.

• HIde button on events

Hi,
Can some body elaborate how to hide buttons on events.
Regards
Sameer

Hi,
You can use PPR.
Step 1. create a VO which contains one transient attribute of type boolean
Step 2. Base button rendered property using SPEL
Step 3. Initialize your VO for PPR(inintialization includes insertion of one row and set the attribute as True)
Step 4. In the event handler where you want to hide button just set it false.
Sample code:
//Code to hide button
public void handlePoApproveChangeEvent()
// Get the special, single-row application properties and make the first
// (only) row current.
OAViewObject vo = (OAViewObject)findViewObject("SampleBrowserPVO1");
OARow row = (OARow)vo.first();
// Get the value of the view object attribute with the PO Approval
// status.
OAViewObject poVO = (OAViewObject)findViewObject("PurchaseOrderHeadersVO1");
OARow poRow = (OARow)poVO.getCurrentRow();
String status = (String)poRow.getAttribute("StatusCode");
// Set the application property values based on the PO Approval
// status value.
if ("APPROVED".equals(status))
row.setAttribute("HideButton", Boolean.FLASE);
//Code to initialize VO
public void initializePPRExamplePage()
// Create purchase order header
OAViewObject appPropsVO =
(OAViewObject)findViewObject("SampleBrowserPVO1");
if (appPropsVO != null)
// If the VO already has a row, skip its initialization. Note that
// calling getFetchedRowCount() won't perform a DB hit on a VO with
// no SELECT and only transient attributes.
if (appPropsVO.getFetchedRowCount() == 0)
// Setting the match fetch size to 0 for an in-memory VO
// prevents it from trying to query rows.
// Calling executeQuery() is a small workaround to a known
// BC4J issue that ensures that modified rows in this
// transient view object are not lost after commit. See
// View Objects in Detail for additional information about
// both of these calls.
appPropsVO.setMaxFetchSize(0);
appPropsVO.executeQuery();
// You must create and insert a row in the VO before you can start
// setting properties.
Row row = appProposVO.createRow();
appPropsVO.insertRow(row);
// Set the primary key value for this single-row VO.
row = (OARow)appPropsVO.first();
row.setAttribute("RowKey", new Number(1));
row.setAttribute("HideButton",Boolean.TRUE);
// Initialize the application properties VO (and the UI) based on the
// default PO approval value set on the underlying object.
handlePoApproveChangeEvent();
else
// throw exception
} // end initializePPRExamplePage()
SPEL Parameter:
${oa.myVOName.HideButton}

• Can we have two submit buttons in one form

please someone help me. my problem is i want two submit button in one form.one to insert data and other to search data .how can i do this.

hi!
it is possible but impragmatic to supply a single form with 2 submit buttons.
albeit, rather that use submit button you may just do the following (alternatively):
a. put a default action url to your form's action attribute;
b. replace all your submit button with just button (form element) and put a unique id on each;
c. then put a function name (javascript) on its onClick attribute;
d. in your javascript function, you may now reference your button through their id's and using an if-then statement, assign the proper url that will serve as the new action for your form;
e. on the last line of your function, execute the line formname.submit()doods72

• Link Parameters from Report to Form in Insert Mode

It seems like it should be possible to use the Report wizard to add a link to a form, select some link parameters using the Edit Link function, and then when one clicks on the link it would open the form in insert mode with the link parameters filled in as defaults. Instead what happens is it tries to open the form in update mode with a row that matches the link parameters, and if it can't find a match it opens in insert mode with no parameters filled in. I want it to always open in insert mode and with the passed parameters filled in.
I've looked through all the documentation I have access to and have been through all the Portal FAQ's on OTN and can find nothing on this. There were a few questions in the FAQ's that told how to do it in PL/SQL, but I don't know how to get access to which instance of the link was selected by the user through PL/SQL, and it seems like there should be a way to do this from within the report wizard.
Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Best Regards,
Jim Bladen

If your report is created using ‘Reports From SQL Query’ then you can modify it using the following to achieve this:
1. Remove the link from ‘Column Formatting’ section of the report object.
2. In the SQL of the report , use custom link to the column where you want to provide link using the syntax
select a.empno,’‘||a.ename||’‘ ename_link,a.deptno
from scott.emp a
Order by a.empno
and the form will always open in ‘INSERT’ mode with passed values filled in.

• Oracle Apps Sys Admin -- Disabling a button on a form

Hi Guys,
I want to disable a button on a form in oracle applications. Normally, i disable a button by goin to that MENU, SUBMENU(if there are any) and take the button's sub-function and add it in FUNCTION and MENU Exclusions in the reponsibility define form.
But in some forms in Oracle Inventory, i have a NEW button and am not able to find a sub-function for that. NEW and OPEN , two buttons are there . How can i disable or make that button vanish from that form. I know that it can be done thru CUSTOM.pll but without custom.pll , is there a way using this sub-functions or watever.
help appreciated.
Thanks

Yes I know about form personalization, however I still couldn't hide 2 buttons. Open vision database, under purchasing superuser > requisition summary, if you click the Find button it will open Requisition Header Summary window. In that window there are New and Open button. Now, I couldn't hide those 2 buttons cause I couldn't found the name in Item. What's the name of those 2 buttons? Thanks.

Hi srinivas,
Please refer to the earlier post from Sandeep:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/09/6d6b17b29b4eef83a553acaa52f668/content.htm
You need to locate the UWL iView within the relevant portal role in Content Administration. The iView
has a property to exclude certain actions from tasks. You can enter a comma delimited list of which
actions you want to switch off.
After saving the iView properties go into System Administration->Navigation and clear the portal
role cache(s), log out and back in again and the UWL should reflect the changes.

• CHM buttons are not localized in a French project (shows English Contents, Index, Search, Print, Hide buttons)

I opened an old WinHelp project into my new RoboHelp 7. When
I generate the CHM, even with the Project Settings in RoboHelp set
to French and running in a French Windows operating system (MS
Windows XP Pro 2002 SP 2), the CHM output is still in English. The
buttons display in English (Contents, Index, Search, Print, Hide
buttons). The title bar of the CHM also says "HTML
Help" even though the project title in the Project
Settings is "Aide en ligne...".
My Windows Regional Settings through the Control Panel -
Regional Options tab is set French (France). On the Languages tab I
under Text Services and Input Languages, Details button, I selected
French (France) French. On the Advanced tab I selected French. Then
I rebooted.
On the language bar on my Task pane, I selected FR. The CHM
still displays in English.
Please help! I have to produce 4 CHMS in languages other than
English today.
Thanks!

GinaL, would you be able to give us an update? Did the CHM
files look ok on a PC with a true French OS installed?
To avoid having to rewrite everything, I've written the
following info/instructions for my team -- though I'm not yet sure
they're 100% correct:
After I reported this issue to Adobe, they worked on the
problem for several days. They even sent me a new
HtmSingleSourceHtmlHelp.dll file that was supposed to solve the
problem. But it didn't work correctly. No matter what contortions
we put ourselves through, we couldn't get both of these items
correct in the CHM file at the same time, namely:
Index compiled in correct alphabetical order accdg to the
language of the help project.
Correctly translated help title showing in the caption,
regardless of the user's Windows regional settings. (For example,
we wanted "FORMS-Hilfe zu FORMS 5-3" to appear as the caption of
the German version of FORMS help, even if our regional settings
were set to English.)
I think we'd all agree that the index has to be in
alphabetical order. So from what I've seen, this is what we have to
do when compiling a non-English version of help using RH7:
1. Set up the project with the foreign name.
2. Set the language in the project settings. And in the
Project Settings dialog, click Advanced and check out the LNG File
tab to make sure it's using a translated version.
3. Ensure that the Window Caption setting is correct in each
window included in the project. (On RoboHelp's Project tab, open
the Windows folder, double-click each window in turn, and check the
settings.)
4. Set the Language setting in the HHP file to Language=[hex
value for that language]. I found a bunch of them listed on this
web page. Someone else might be able to find a better source:
https://svn.origo.ethz.ch/scoop/es_scoop_60/library/i18n/locale/nls/i18n_nls_lcid_tools.e
5. Change your Windows regional settings to the same language
as the help project. (Reboot if prompted.)
6. Recommended, for safety's sake: Delete the CPD file.
7. Open the project and compile using RH7.
8. Check the index's sort order -- is it in alphabetical
order according to the language of the project?
9. Check the help caption -- make sure it's not "HTML Help".
Note: Any customized buttons in your CHM should appear
correctly translated, but other buttons (Contents, Index, Search)
still appear in English -- at least they do on my PC, even though I
did step 2 above. We need to check whether those buttons appear
correctly when the PC is actually running a true foreign version of
Windows, and not just with temporarily adjusted Windows settings.
OR -- is anyone else able to get these to appear translated in the
CHM file?
Does anyone have anything to add? Other solutions? Easier
procedures? Better results to report?
Thank you
Eileen
