Want to restrict access...

We are using RoboHelp at our company and we have some books
that we would like to only allow certain users access to. Such as
proceedures for our billings and well, we all know certain people
should not have access to those types of things. All of our
information is located on our intranet so outside sources are not
allowed access, but we would also like to just allow certain
departments access to certain books. We have created the book but
it is an open source right now for anyone in the company to read if
we publish it.
Is there a way we can password protect books through RoboHelp
where users would need a username and password to get to the
information through the browser?
Thank you

Yes, sorry, you don't need merged help.
You are going to need to understand how RH is setup
serverside though if you are going to get anywhere with this
requirement. Just generate an output to your local disk so that you
can see it.
Calling the help requires that you open the start page as
defined in the first field of the wizard. The user then gets the
full help. You could put certain stuff in a folder and your
developers could set up a system whereby they know the user and
block that folder. However the user will get an ugly Page Not
Found.
Perhaps use conditional tags and create three or four outputs
and then different users would be given the relevant start page for
their version.

  • I want to restrict access to Facebook

Hi, wonder if anyone can help me. I want to stop my child from accessing Facebook from the ipod touch. I can see that in settings, general there is a section on restrictions but I am not sure what one I would use to stop facebook being accessed.
    Any help much appreciated!

    Hello
The disable restrictions is only for inbuild apps of the iOS device, one way to block your kids from getting onto Facebook is to remove the app and block all App buys from the disable restrictions page in the settings, to block it in Safari you need to know if you set up an opendns account for that iOS device and then enter in facebook address into the opendns settings page via a full Internet browser. Then on the iOS device go into Settings then General then Network then click the Arrow beside the wifi network your iOS device connects to then under the DHCP click in the DNS of the provide opendns.
This has not been tested by me as I just thought of it now and it could work. Give it ago and find out.

OK, I did a bit more googling and found the answer. An add-on.
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/3911/
Downloaded it to the user's laptop and tested and now they can't get to options, clear history, and other things.
Hope this helps the other user as well.

  • How do I restrict access to a folder-like attaching a password in order for someone to open it.

I want to locate a folder on my desktop, but want to restrict access so that anyone on my laptop can't access the folder, even though they will see it sitting on the desktop.  How do I set up folder permissions?

Any file on YOUR desktop already has permissions set such that no other user account can access. But if you want to use the OS's native capability to encrypt the contents of a folder, place that folder within an encrypted image.
Use Disk Utility to create a disk image, and encrypt it with the same utility (use settings in "new image") . Make sure you size the image to a size great enough to hold all your files. Once created, and placed on your desktop, open it, using your password. Once the image is mounted, place the files you want to protect into that image, and then dismount/eject the image. The image essentially becomes your password encrypted folder. Double click it at any time to access your files (enter password). Eject the mounted image to "re-encrypt".
If you want a disk image that has cross platform capability, then try TrueCrypt. It is  great App for Mac & Windows, with other advantages as well.

  • Best way to restrict access to documents (outside of the group or library level)

Hi, we're thinking of implementing SharePoint Server 2013 Standard Edition for our organization. Many of our employees are research scientists working on proprietary information. From the (admittedly little) I understand about SharePoint, if a user wants
to restrict access to a particular document to the 2 or 3 people with whom they're collaborating (and also have it not appear in the search results), they will have to email their power user to request that a new document library be created in which they can
store their documents. Is that correct? In this case, what is the best way to handle item-level permissions? Users absolutely want to have the freedom to restrict access to their documents themselves rather than being forced to go to their power user. Thanks.

    Hi,
Per my knowledge, if you want to restrict access to the documents to some users, then you need to have Manage Permissions permission to modify other users’ permission on the documents.
If you do not have the Manage Permissions permission, I recommend to ask the site administrator to create a workflow as below to remove the corresponding users’ permission on the documents which you uploaded. You can start the workflow on the document you
upload and then the permission of the users set on the workflow will be removed from the document.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

It is standard behaviour that the authorization object F_KNA1_GRP(account group authroization) is not checked
in the transacion FBL5N. You can confirm this functionality in trans. SE24.
As a workaround, I would suggest you to use the authorization object F_KNA1_BED Customer: Account Authorization
If you assign an authorization group as the accouting group, perhaps you can get a similar functionality.
Please note that for the 'drill-down' or direct call of FBL5N these objects are checked:
F_BKPF_BLA Accounting Document: Authorization for Document Types
F_BKPF_BUK Accounting Document: Authorization for Company Codes
F_BKPF_GSB Accounting Document: Authorization for Business Areas
F_BKPF_KOA Accounting Document: Authorization for Account Types
F_BKPF_BED Accounting Document: Account Authorization for Customers
      F_KNA1_BED Customer: Account Authorization
F_KNA1_BUK Customer: Authorization for Company Codes

  • Restrict access with object F_LFA1_BEK - problem with F4 search

    Hello,
we want to restrict access to some vendor accounts, which can be shown with transaction FK03 for example.
There is an authorization object F_LFA1_BEK, which can be maintained in the special vendor accounts in field authorization group.
A user with authorization for vendor account with authorization group ZZZZ in it can see all vendors with authorization group ZZZZ and all vendors with no authorization group. But he can't see vendor accounts with authorization group YYYY. To this point, it's ok.
If the user uses the F4 search help he is able to see the vendor accounts with authorization group YYYY too. And this is the problem - the user should not see these vendor accounts. With this option user is able to see address data of a vendor account he should not see.
Is there any possiblity to solve this problem?
    Regards,
    Julia

I don't know the current status, but this is being looked into generally as it is not only limited to the F4 on LFA/B/M1.
As you only access the name and some attribute data which you can display, it is not necessarily critical and there is no transaction data involved.
Good news is that the BAPIs for search help make these same granular checks which you are expecting.
If I hear something further about these developments I will let you know.
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • Restricting Access in Solution Manager by Business Unit?

    Hi Experts
We are currently in the process of upgrading our Solution Manager to 7.0 EHP 1. Business wants to restrict access in Solution Manager by business unit. Is this possible? Is it possible to create derived roles which restrict on buisness unit without having to custominze? If it is possible which object needs to be maintained? I'm already aware of restricting access by project using S_Project but this still allows users to view other projects. The requirement is that users only view projects for their business unit.
    Please advise experts.

    Hi There,
I dont see any reason why you cannot acheive your objective in SolMan, You should be able customize views per business under SPRO_ADMIN and derive required view with in PFCG role separated by business.
Yes, You can also do derived roles concept in Solman and restrict by Org Units.
Guys - Do you differ from my opinion?

  • Restrict access to Dynamics CRM 2015 to only company laptops or Ipads

    Dear all,
I have deployed MS Dynamics CRM 2015 server on premise and I want to restrict access to company laptops only.
All company laptops are joined to my domain.
Any guide/help would be greatly appreciated.
    Many Thanks & Regards

CRM has no specific functionality to restrict access to certain machines, but you may be able to achieve this by more general functionality. One option is to block the Crm url on specific client machines, as per the previous post, but that only works for
    known machines.
Another option could be to add restrictions in IIS on the Crm Server. This can restrict access to only certain IP addresses, but that would only work if the laptops always connect via a known set of IP addresses - this is probably OK if they're always connected
via a company network, either directly, or via a VPN

  • Error 23002 when restricting access to specific TS

I am a bit stumped at the moment on my TSGW.  I am attempting to restrict which Terminal Servers the TSGW will redirect to.
I am doing this via RAP > Network Resource > "RD Gateway-managed group"
I created a new group and added the FQDN of the TS I want to connect to and I was unable to connect (received error 23002)
I then modified the group to use the IP address of the TS and received the same error.
I then set the Network Resource option in RAP to "Allow users to connect to any network resource" and I was able to connect.  I naturally don't want to do this and want to restrict access as we have other Terminal Servers for other groups.
I must be missing something, but I am not sure what.  Any thoughts from anyone?

OK... I may have solved my own issue here.  Sometimes typing it out makes me think...
One thing I didn't try was the NetBIOS name within the RD Gateway-managed group.
I entered the 3 entries:  IP/FQDN/NetBIOS  and things came alive.  Now, I shouldn't need all three, so I will need to do some more checking, but at least I'm now in the right direction.

  • Restrict Access to Expense Report template for a Responsibility

    Hello,
We want to restrict access of a Expense Report template to a specific responsiblity.
Is there a way to do it.
Basically we have around 3 Expense Report Template. But we want to restrict access to one of the template to a particular responsibility.
Any help in this regard is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi ,
To my Knowledge the only option I think right now to restrict the template for an Responsibility is to do is there is check box Enabled/disabled where you define the templates ,Try to disable that check box and see , I think when you try to create an expense report from Internet Expenses after you do this , you cant see the template you have disabled it in the List of values for that Responsibility . I hope that works .
    Thanks

  • How do I restrict access to messaging and mail

I want to restrict access to mail and messaging for security reasons, but these don't seem to be options in the restrictions menu.
If this option is not available, when is it planned to be implemented? Or how do I make this a feature request.
I don't quite understand why I'd want to restrict someone from using youtube or the camera, yet give them full access to all my personal email and messages.

I don't quite understand why I'd want to restrict someone from using youtube or the camera, yet give them full access to all my personal email and messages.
I don't know what Apple thinks, but I've always assumed the restrictions are for the situation where a parent buys a teenager their own phone, and wants to restrict data use or time spent on the web. They are not security restrictions. Many people who let kids play with their phone want more flexibility in restrictions.

  • I want to restrict wifi access to my kids' ipad.  How do I go about it?

Both my kids have saved their money to buy ipads.  I however want to restrict their wifi access so they do not stay up too late.  They are tweens.  How do I go about it?

You can restrict Safari, and restrict installing apps so they cannot download an alternate web browser, however you cannot set time limits. But even if you restricted Wi-Fi access there's nothing preventing them from staying up late playing games on it.
