Wanted getRemoteUser method to return the network login Id(Windows Login)

Hi,
I have an application running on websphere 3.5,
where the method HttpServletRequest.getRemoteUser() returns the users(client's) window login(the application is used across the network).
I have migrated the application to the Webshere5.0.
The problem I am facing here is the method
HttpServletRequest.getRemoteUser() return null.
I want this method to return the network login (Windows Login) id.
I did create a user(tom) in the windows(2000 Professional) registry and change the setting to custom registry in the admin console(websphere 5.0), here the getRemoteUser returns the value 'tom'.
I want this method(getRemoteUser) to return my windows login id.
For eg: If I login into the system with the id 'Anupam', it should return the id 'Anupam'. If somebody else accesses the application from another system in the network then the method should return his login id.
Please let me know if you know the solution for this.
Note: The same is working fine with Websphere 3.5.

Hi Pramod,
There's a Function Module called <b>GUI_GET_DESKTOP_INFO</b> which you could use. The Function Module has got documentation so you should not have any problem using it.
Do let me know if it helped.

Anand Mandalika.

  • Where can I find a method to return the number of constants in an enum?

    I'd like to get the number of constants in an enum, but can not find any documentation on the topic.
    The only method I find reference to is the values() method.
    Are there other methods?
    Is there a method to return the number of items in the values array?
    Thanks,

    Well in ABAP, we don't have portal APIs to access potal catalog info.

    Chances are, there was a signficant power surge or voltage fluctuation just before the power went out. This type of thing can cause the AirPort Extreme to reset back to default settings.
    If this occurs, your only option is re-configure the device again, just as you did originally.
    In order to improve your chances this next time this happens, (especially if you live in an area where thunderstorms are severe), a good quality surge suppressor / voltage limiting power strip will really help, and may save you the entire device or a nearby computer next time something like this occurs.

    You can get the display name of fields with typedisplayname property.For more information,you can refer to the article:

  • Can't scan over the network after clean windows 8 install

    My wife's hard drive recently crashed (it was Windows 7 32bit).  I replaced the drive and installed Windows 8 64bit, and then upgraded to 8.1.  I did the 8.1 update before I installed any software (i.e., canon drivers).
    Everything seems to work fine but when we try to scan to her pc via the wireless network we get the error message.  We are initiating the scan from the device panel.
    MP Navigator EX corresponding to the printer  you intend to use, may not be installed correctly.  Reinstall MP Navigator EX, and then try again.
    I've uninstalled and re-installed several times.  Tried running as administrator. There aren't many settings to change in the Navigator software.  I'll attach some screen shots.  If you need any more information let me know.  Any help at all would be great.  If we can't get it working we'll probably scrap the thing and get something else.
    Thanks!!!

    I suggest uninstalling the full feature software from both PCs and re-installing and configuring the software on both.
    Are you using the HP Solution center to scan? It is in Dutch, but the images are the same as what you should see in a correctly installed full feature software package.

  • Can't install Officejet Pro 8500 A910 on the network in my Windows XP laptop

    Everything installs normally except connection options fail to detect the printer when the network connection is selected. The prompt that follows for network type also fails when wired (Ethernet) is selected. Firewalls are turned off during installation.
    The network printer can be seen by the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility. Using the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility to check connection indicates software missing, connection verified, and test print failed.
    The Officejet Pro 8500 A910 Embedded Web Server can be opened from the web browser by entering the IP address.
    Changing the printer port to the IP address allows the printer to work but does not enable all of the all-in-one functions such as scanning or running HP Officejet Pro 8500 A910.exe.
    Turning the power off and back on to the printer, computer, and router did not fix the problem. Re-installing the software several times did not fix the problem.
    The installation works normally with other computers on the same network that run Windows Vista or Windows 7.
    So far, customer support has not been able to help.
    This question was solved.

    Resolved, not solved.
    I talked to HP product support. The Officejet Pro 8500 A910 will not install on Windows XP (at least the Home Edition) when networked through a router. It will install through USB. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it with only USB connected to clean out all the network printer/scanner information. Product support claimed it would install through an ether net cable connected between the printer and computer but this does little good if you need internet access.

  • Before I had Mavericks I was able to print over the network to a Windows PC. Now I receive the message, "connection refused." Any ideas?

    Before I upgraded to Mavericks, I was able to print over the network to a printer attached to a Windows PC. Now, I receive the message, "connection refused." any ideas as to why this may be and what I can do about it would be appreciated.

    I had reconfigured all of the settings the same as in the previous OS X. The only thing I can think of that may be causing this is that the printer is an older Canon Pixma iP4300 and the Canon site doesn't have a driver for the new OS X. The Canon site said that the new OS X may supply the driver. Is there any one with the same experience as mine?

  • What is the standard or best method of returning the manager attribute value as a DN (directory string type) to a MV attribute?

    We have an SQL table which supplies authoritative HR data to FIM including the employee's manager HR id. Using the FIM and reference attributes we can stuff the manager on AD correctly.
    BUT, this table is used by other systems and one column (varchar 128) is named AdManager and is supposed to hold the DN of the Manager e.g. cn=A Manager,ou=User Accounts...
    The only way I can think of to get around this is to push the DN of each connected AD account into a indexed string MV attribute called adDN  flowing ad attribute dn -> mv attribute adDN. This is pushed onto the Portal into attribute adDN so the
    idea is that every Portal user (including managers of employees) that has an AD account has his dn stored in adDN as a STRING.
    When I want the managers dn... will this work on the Outbound sync rule attribute flow definition????
    source [//Target/Manager/AdDN]
    target AdManager
    It seems so artificial there just has to be a better way.

    Hello Harold,
    sounds good, thats "nearly" excatly the way I would do this.
    But you can not do this directly in an OSR.
    You have to do this with an workflow with the function evaluator and stor that Attribute on the user every time the Manager is changed.
    After that you can have simple direct flows from MV to your HR Attribute.

  • Where do i get the network drivers for windows 7

    I just installed windows 7 profession on my 13 inch macbook pro.  It did not install all the drivers. Where can I get them?

    Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
    Your computer needs the Windows support software in order to make everything run correctly in Windows. If you are using OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion, just start in OS X (holding the X key while your computer is starting), open Boot Camp Assistant and follow the steps to download the Windows support software into a USB drive. Finally, start in Windows and install the drivers. Also, you can check what Boot Camp version supports your Mac and download the latest version from the Apple site > http://support.apple.com/downloads
    If you are using Snow Leopard, insert the Mac OS X DVD which came with your computer or the Snow Leopard disc and install the Boot Camp drivers in Windows

    Greetings, everyone! I own an Iomega Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud Edition, and since I've upgraded to Windows 8 I can't use my drive anymore. I have some users created at my network drive, and since Windows 8 uses e-mail address as usernames, Lenovo Storage Manager won't allow me to access my shared folders.  How can I do that? I do need the content stored there, and I cannot change my Windows user for obvious reasons, and I don't know how can I use my network drive again as before. Can you please help me? Thanks in advance.Marc.

    mspector,
    You could try access via FTP, you will need to enable FTP on the Protocols page in the UI.
    If you are not familiar with FTP, here are some links that will help get you started:
    https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=windows%208%20ftp%20network%20drive
    https://www.google.com/webhp?sourceid=chrome-instant&ion=1&espv=2&ie=UTF-8#q=windows+8+filezilla
    You should be able to map via FTP as well.

  • Is it possible to connect an iMac to the internet but not to the network?

    Hello,
    I volunteered to purchase an iMac for our company. This huge company maintains a huge windows-only network environment and IT does not support any macs (nor do they want to have them on the network).
    Hence, since we really need this machine to be a mac and not a PC I had to promise to set it up as a stand-alone machine and to get anti-virus protection (as users will be coming in with their jump drives etc). At least for the latter reason (regular updates of virus definitions must be possible) we'd like to have it connected to the internet.
    How would I escape the dilemma that as soon as I'd hook it up via ethernet, it would of course get internet but at the same time would see all other machines on the network? (it will sure do so as I had tried it out with some other machine running on the same OS)
    Is there a way to configure Snow Leopard to allow for internet but not network access?
    Does it make sense at all (for security reasons that is)?
    thank you very much,
    HD

    Is there a way to configure Snow Leopard to allow for internet but not network access?
    Well, 'internet' is 'network access' so at one level your question makes no sense.
    If, on the other hand, what you want to do is segregate your Mac from the other machines then that's a different issue. There are numerous ways of doing that, but most would involve some level of interaction with the network administrators. Given their ana^H^H^H attitude towards Macs that may be an issue.
    The best way would be to setup a separate VLAN for the Mac. This will create a separate logical network within the company network with only this Mac and the network router in it. No PC would see the Mac, and the Mac wouldn't be scarred by seeing all those PCs. This cannot be done without buy-in from the network admins, though.
    A step down from that would be to use one PC in the network as a gateway to the rest of the network. The Mac would talk to this PC, and the PC would pass the data out to the rest of the network. This would require admin rights on the PC, though, which you may or may not have (I've seen a lot of corporate networks… :: shudder ::)
    The last option would be to setup an entirely separate internet connection for the Mac but there are logistical issues there, too.
    My advice: Buy a dozen Krispy Kremes for the network guys and sweet talk them into building you a VLAN.

  • Calling a method that returns values in a map - using JSTL

    Hi I have a method within an object that returns a List for a particular category
    public List<String> getFieldsInCategory(String categoryName){
        return _categoryFieldsMap.get(categoryName); //This is a map that returns a list
      }Trying to call the above function in jsp, the object is available as "document",
    how do i pass a key to the above function to return a List.
       <c:forEach items="${document.fieldsInCategory('ABSTRACT')}" var="temp">How do i get the list by passing a string key to my method,
    please let me know how to go about this.
    Thanks

    JSTL can not directly call methods that take parameters.
    All it can do is access javabean properties - ie via the revealed get/set methods.
    You can fudge it by having a seperate variable to set:
    Map  _categoryFieldsMap;
    String category = null;
    public void setCategory(String category){
      this.category = category;
    public String getCategory(String category){
      return category;
    public List<String> getFieldsInCategory(){
        return _categoryFieldsMap.get(categoryName); //This is a map that returns a list
      }You would then do it like this in your JSP:
    <c:set target="document.category" value="ABSTRACT"/>
    <c:forEach items="${document.fieldsInCategory}" var="temp">
    ...The other alternative is to return the entire map to the page.
    EL accesses maps quite handily.
    so given a method that returns the map:
    public Map getCategoryFieldsMap(){
    return _categoryFieldsMap;
    then the expression: ${document.categoryFieldsMap.ABSTRACT} returns what you are after.
    Hope this helps,
