WARNING---do NOT buy phones from BestBuy

I attempted to purchase a phone online ans was referred to the customer service line to purchase, it took over an hour to purchase. I spoke with two different people one that took all the order information which I then had to repeat over and over and over to the person who was to place the order. As soon as I was transferred to him I received a call form an 888 number to which I did not answer. After the order was finally completed, I recievd another call form said 888 number, I called the number back and it asked for an 9-digit order number (BestBuy's order number is longer then 9-digits) and said to go to whereismyphone.com(NOT a bestbuy website). Either:
BestBuy is sharing customer's information
BestBuy is still using the wire fly affiliate for phone orders or
BestBuy's system is being hacked
No matter which it is, I am not pleased!!!! An hour after receiving  said call form the 888 number I received a txt msg asking for my acct # or last four of my SSN so that my number can be ported over. Funny thing is that all that information was given to BestBuy over the phone several times! I called the number that was in the txt and they claimed to be sprint (the carrier I was getting a phone with) and were asking for the same information but as stated before they would have that information already becuase bestbuy would of provided to them. The guy could not give any proof that he was with sprint and was ignoring half of what i said, he even brought another person on the line to activate a phone and get personal information for a phone I clearly stated I JUST purchased hours ago and that I did not have! Sounds sketchy!!!! I have tried to cancel my order, have called BestBuy and BestBuy Mobile and have been on hold for 40min. and 20 min. I finally spoke with a woman from BestBuy Mobile and she said I would have to decline the package (which I can not do because I live in an dormitory) or return it for a refund...we will see how that goes. She also stated as well as her manager, that they are not affiliated with who ever called and txted me...sounds like there is a leak in BestBuy's system how else did they receive my information? All this just to purchase a phone...ridiculous! I will only being purchasing phones directly from the carrier from now on and I suggest you do the same!

It's not unheard of that the carrier would need more information to complete a number port from another carrier. They may have needed some information in order to put it through, such as your old account number. This should have been done automatically when you ordered the phone through Best Buy, but sometimes it does need to be done manually.
As for the rest of your situation, I have no knowledge of those events, but you forgot a fourth possibility: there was no relation between ordering a phone from Best Buy and receiving unsolicited phone calls.

If you purchase the phone at the full contract price and have no term left on your carrier contract, the carrier will unlock it for you. That's what I am doing with AT&T. I'll pay the full purchase price for the phone and since I don't have a contract with them, they will unlock it for you. It can be difficult to get it done since most of their customer service is very ill informed but I have had many discussions with them on their chat that I have records of them stating they will unlock any phone if you do not have an existing contract. It's the law.

I recently changed my email address and want to change my Apple ID account to match. I have created a new Apple ID to match the new account but now I can't sign into iCloud on our phones or computer with the old Apple ID. I can't make any changes on iCloud on our phones because it directs me to the old account, which I can't sign into. I also can't sign me in on my computer to make any changes. Help!!! Now I have two addresses and can't access the one that directly affects my devices.

  • Why can i not buy music from itunes store, this only happened recently

Why can i not buy music from itunes store, this has only happened recently ?

O.K. Everything seems to be in order now!
I don't know what happened but this is the results....
After attempting to edit change the information on my iTunesMS account at least 7 times, I posted the above question, logged out of iTunes, closed down all my apps and turned off my computer.
A few hours later, I thought I would give it one more try and when I turned on iTunes, went to the Music Store and then 'reviewed' my account... it had my old American address on it with the country listed as Sweden... I just left it alone, as it didn't have my credit card info listed at all... Curiously, I'm clueless about that (though I did send this same complaint to Apple during the first posting... did that have anything to do with it?) When I clicked the continue button (without changing any info) it prompted me that I was finished setting up my iTunes Music Store account and I was immediately able to download some songs....(using the iTunes Music card--- I have not tried my MasterCard!)
So basically, I did nothing except close iTunes, turn off my computer and later rebooted it and opened iTunes! Strange... does that seem like a fix or what?

  • Bought from Amazon, Phone Broke, now Blackberry Site says I did not buy it from Amazon

I bought a Blackberry Classic from Amazon new in December. Sadly, it broke. When I go to Blackberry site to register for warranty repair, the site tells me that, based on the PIN, I did not buy the phone from Amazon. I have proof that I did with the dated order number.
    How can I contact Blackberry???

I suggest you go back to Amazon and register with them for a Warranty Repair. If they will not repair it and instead direct you to BlackBerry, get Amazon to give you the BlackBerry contact details. Good luck!

  • Do not buy anything from Verizon that they ship to you

I have returned 2 Apple iPhone 6s that did not work properly (Verizon could not even activate the second one) and now the bullies at Verizon are charging me for both despite the fact they were returned to them almost 3 weeks ago. I have called 6 times and spent hours on hold. Great customer service, really nice people, but they are useless. Beware: never buy anything from Verizon that is shipped to you. They will screw you. I have the tracking numbers. The Customer Reps acknowledge receipt, but no credit given.

This is not the type of experience we want our customers to have.  Did you use the shipping labels provided by Verizon Wireless?  How did you ship the phones back? Provide more details to better assist.

  • Question regarding buying phone from Amazonwireless

Hi, I have two questions regarding amazonwireless.
I have a nationwide 700 family plan and my phone is eligible for an upgrade now.
Amazonwireless has a good basic phone ( Samsung) that verizon don't have.  If I buy it from Amazon and extend contract for 2 more years, does this work? Will I be moved to new share all plan or keep my old family plan? Or is there a catch?
My other question is the AmazonWireless Instant Discount Policy, if another line on my family plan upgrades to iphone in a few month ( when it's eligible for upgrade) and adds data plan ( we currently don't have any data plan), would this violate Amazon's policy since the contract is changed? I attached their policy below for reference.
I know it's a long read, but thank you for helping!
    AmazonWireless Instant Discount Policy
When you purchase your device with service from AmazonWireless.com, we automatically pass along an instant discount from the carrier to you.  This discount has been provided to you based on your agreement to (a) activate a new, or extend an existing, line of service for this device with the carrier, and (b) maintain this service in good standing for a minimum of 181 consecutive days.  If you do not activate or extend a line of service in connection with this device, or if your service is canceled/disconnected before 181 consecutive days, AmazonWireless.com will charge you $250 per device, plus applicable taxes.

    From the Amazon Wireless FAQ:
I need a new phone, but my line isn't eligible for an upgrade. Another line in my family account is eligible. Can I get a new phone for my line by using the upgrade of the other line in my family account?
While carriers may offer the option to swap upgrades between different lines on the same family account, this option isn't available through AmazonWireless. Phones purchased from AmazonWireless must remain on the line upgraded for 181 days. If you move the device to an alternate line within the first 181 days, you'd be subject toadditional charges by AmazonWireless of up to $250 (per phone), plus applicable taxes.

  • Buying phone from friend affect my upgrade status

If i buy a phone from my friend will i have to wait another year before i can update again?  Buying this new phone from her would make me have to switch to a data plan but i think that's it.  Please help

If a phone is flagged as lost or stolen, I believe that only the owner calling in and reporting that they have retrieved the phone can remove the flag.  If the ESN is blocked because money is still owed on the account, the owner paying up would remove the issue.  You can always check an ESN with Verizon by calling their CS, and you should do this before you pay for ANY used phone.

  • Why does Apple keep on deduct my money from my debit card although I did not buy anything from iTunes?

Guys. Apple had been deduct money from my bank and this is not once only and it's for few times. How can such thing happen when I didn't buy anything from iTunes but apple keep on deduct my money? I buy iPhone just to get scam money when I got my account?

Right now, log on to apple.com, and change your password.
    either
somebody else is using your ID to buy stuff -
or have you bought any subscriptions that require monthly payments.
Within a day or two of charging you anything, Apple sends you an email receipt with the detail.  Are you getting these?

  • Its a headache...! Please do not buy LENOVO from AUS!! Service is Hilariously Ridiculous :(

Myself a Lenovo user from India, recently moved to Aus for Job purposes. Thought of buying the Lenovo, (I do think its a good pick among the top guys and had an excellent service from India (I miss my country!!) ). bought a B590. Had an issue with battery slot(battery is bit shaking when it is locked well in its compartment), keypad(certain keys were not working) and camera(took advice from forum and re installed camera software, but when it came after the service it is not working. I am fed up, bought a smart phone instead! extra $700)  as soon as I bought it. Went back to service and came with a lovely note from service guys saying that they couldnot find any issues with working of battery(who said there was!!???) Thank some one noticed the issues with Keyboard and corrected it (feeling blessed). The head ache is that you cannot talk directly to the service personnel (I mean the guy who actually take care of ur machine, atleast some one in that environment) you have to explain all your matters to some one at Malaysia, Thailand and wait for the response which they assure (Assurance is all I got nothing further.) And wondering why the service personnel, who  is from Aus can not call me directly (its easy to call some one who is residing in Aus, if you have a plan on ur phone) than calling these OUTSOURCED guys and asking them to inform me. I would like to inform or rather remind LENOVO management about a childhood play (thought provoking) where kids sit in a round and one tell a sentence in next guys ears and then it has to be passed on. When it reaches to the guy who has started it, will realize it has been entirely different or atleast the meaning might have changed due to simple changes in the wods during the mistakes during the course of its travel.
(thank God I feel relieved, because It happened in Feb-March and I unwantedly kept it in mind for last few weeks)

You must've had a great sales man.
    "$50 buys me:
    - instant exchanges for the first 30 days at least (I bet my local store would go way beyond that)
    - they will repair or replace the item while the apple warranty is in effect as many times as needed (and if I'm not happy there is a chance they will simply exchange for a new one)
    - after the first year, they will replace the ipod once if needed "
    1) You have no chance at returning anything at Best Buy after 30 days. At any of the stores I've worked at they are super d*cks about returns. Best Buy is EXTREMELY competitive and hate margin loss (returns).
    2) Each time BBY has to repair something it will take at least 30 days (and up to 2 months during the holiday season). Think about that. If you have three problems with the iPod that's going to be a third of the year you're not eve going to have the thing. Also, they don't care if you're satisfied or not with the iPod. If a Geek Squad rep. sees that it works he'll make you take it back. Only the forth time you bring an item in for service will you get a new one (lemon law).
    3. Going back to the service issue -- After you bring an item in to be fixed after the manuf. warranty is up, you only have one chance to get it fixed. It takes 4 chances to get a new (service) item.
Like I stated before -- if you buy any other type of MP3 player (other than an Apple based one) at BBY you won't have to deal with that whole service issue. Stick to Apple Care my friend.

  • WARNING Do not buy VERIZON MFI without a contract

Last year I bought a Verizon MIFI device without a contract. I paid the higher price for the device because I intended to use it only seasonaly.
When I suspended the service in may this year the verizon website did not offer an option for customers without a contract. I could choose between a 30 day suspension with billing thereafter or a 3 month suspension without billing. My intention was to not use the device because we would be staying in Canada for 5-6 months. So none of the given options applied to me. It was clear to me that both options would only apply to customers with a contract. So I choose the one month option, assuming that billing would result in $0,00 bills or no bills at all, since I indeed did not use the device.
When I today logged in to my account I was horrified to discover that a $400 bill had been racked up. I do not feel any legal obligation to pay this bill, as I do not have any contract. Speaking to customer service today did not help as Verizon says they will continue to demand that bill be paid.  I can only warn other customers against trying to use MIFI seasonal. Verizon seems only to accept a 3 month suspension even without having a contract!!!

They did not sign a contract, they merely selected a plan.
Straight Talk is not an Apple approved carrier but as you have already pointed out with some finagling an iPhone can be made to work on that network.
No one knows when (or if) Apple is going to sell an unlocked iPhone.
If you purchase the NON-CONTRACT AT&T model, sign up for a plan, and Restore it as new after it initializes you will get the message "Congratulations, your iPhone has been unlocked". Then you can cancel your AT&T plan (you are not on contract so there is no ETF) and move the phone to Straight Talk.
Or you can wait for Apple to sell an unlocked iPhone in the US.
Or you can go to Canada and get an unlocked iPhone.

  • DO NOT BUY IPODS FROM FUTURESHOP OR BEST BUY

The warranty policy for both are ridiculous. They charge the same amount as Apple does. Get this, they don't even touch any ipods that need service for the first year. On top of that, any repairs that are made to the IPOD after the one year manufacturer's warranty will end once the IPOD is replaced once. They do not repair IPODs they simply have you pay $60-90 for a warranty that they hope you never use. You are better off getting the Apple Protection Plan for the same amount, and it covers 2 years and the warranty is transferred to any new IPODs for the remainder of the protection plan.

You must've had a great sales man.
