WARNING: Insufficient disk partition space.

im trying to install J2EE SDK on a SunBlade 150 with Solaris 8. I get the following error message during the drivespace check:
WARNNG: Insufficient disk partition space to install the items selected
Im trying to install it in /opt/SUNWappserver/
I have installed the recommended patch cluster for Solaris 8, so all of my patches are up to date. According to df -k, I have about 4.5 gigs left on that partition, so space is not the issue. I figured it must be a bug with the release.
Does anyone know the fix for this?

sure.....heres the info, sorry for the late reply, and thanks again for all of your help:

  • Insufficient Disk (DVD) Space

I am using an older version of Premiere Pro (2.0). I typically make short videos of 10 to 15 minutes and have no problem burning them to a DVD. I recently videoed an event with a HD camera and the Premiere Pro 2.0 timeline is about 2 hours long. When I attempt to burn the video to a DVD, I get a message of insufficient disk space. I have tried to convert the video into two separate projects and two DVDs but get the same results.  Any thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated!

    Joe,
I used the forum a long time ago and I’m afraid I now have two IDs.  I was not logged in when I began posting the question and thus the  problem I think. I would like my ID to be either John McKenzie John C McKenzie or Dillon Tiger.  Or it can stay as jcmckenz, which is my old ID.  How do I get rid of the duplicity and have just one ID? I was getting messages like “Email address associated with another ID” when trying to post my question
My work email address has morphed from jcmckenz to jcmckenzie to john.mckenzie all at duke-energy.com. My alternative email address needs to be [email protected]
Who can assist with getting this cleared up? Thanks for any guidance you can provide.
    John

  • GC Warning: Insufficient space for /proc read

    Hello,
I have a shared library that uses gcj functionality.
I'm getting the following warning message:
"GC Warning: Insufficient space for /proc read"
In a call to JvAttachCurrentThread() inside the shared library.
And latter my library crash with 'Segmentation fault' when I try to use a java functionality.
The warning message and the 'Segmentation fault' are not at the same time and may be a coincidence.
I could not reproduce the error in a small "Hello World" program, so I think it has some thing to do with my application.
But this only happens in solaris, when I compile and run my application in Linux, it does not happen.
    Scenario that works:
    Linux
    Application compiled with gcc-3.3.3
    Shared library compiled with gcc-3.3.3
    Scenario that does not work:
    Solaris 8
    Application compiled with Forte/SunCC 8
    Shared library compiled with gcc-3.3.3
Only the shared library uses gcj functionality, the application is only C++.
What is this warning message about ?

I'm seeking recommendations for the actual size of a scratch disk. I've been searching over 100 posts before finding the information I was looking for here! Great. Patience is a virtue after all.
On this post it says an hour of video makes about a 13.5 BG files SO -- would that be a good size for the scratch disk, more of less, 'cause I want to make a 45-minute edited video.
One post indicated it might be a good idea to have a sequence of scratch disk, i.e. to set of maybe one scratch disk at 20GBs and then another at 20 GBs, etc. rather than have one big 200GB scratch disk?
Any information or ideas helpful. I've been upgrade hardware and software and ready to finally dive in to all this cool stuff. (Note: The manual had no actual size recommendation, but I'm gonna check out other online sources right now). Thanks.

  • [INS-32021] Insufficient disk space on this volume for the selected Oracle

    Folks,
Hello. I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC Grid using Installer whose location is: /home/.../grid/runInstaller.
I am on step 4 of 8 in the Wizard whose contents are as follows:
    Oracle Base: /u01/11g_grid
    Software Location: /u01/app/grid
    Cluster Registry Type: ASM
    OSASM Group: dba
When click "next" button I got this error:
" [INS-32021] Insufficient disk space on this volume for the selected Oracle home
Cause - The selected Oracle home was on a volume without enough disk space.
Action - Choose a location for Oracle home that has enough space (minimum of 3,017MB) or free up space on the existing volume. "
I test my "home" directory using the command: [ora11g@rac1 home]$ df -k
    Its Ouput:
    Filesystem: /dev/sda1 and tmpfs
    1K-blocks: 20,308,020 and 848,184
    Used: 18,888,968 and 0
    Available: 370,816 and 848,184
    Use: 99% and 0%
    Mounted on : / and /dev/shm
I run another command: [ora11g@rac1 u01]$df -k and got the same output as above.
    My questions are:
First, is "Oracle home" the directory "/home/..." or the directory "/u01/..." ?
Second, how to increase the space for the correct directory to be over 3017MB (Minimum) ?
    Thanks.

    Folks,
Hello. Thanks a lot for replying.
I am installing Oracle 11gR2 RAC using 2 Virtual Machines (rac1 and rac2).The Virtual Disk for each VM is 20 GB whose raw device is /dev/sda (partition /dev/sda1 is the same size).
In order to install Grid Infrastructure, I add 5 Hard Disks into the first VM rac1 and 10GB for each Hard Disk. Then create 5 ASM disks respectively as a Disk Group. Let me describe them as follows:
    OS Phyysical file: C:\VM_RAC\sharerac\asmdisk1.vmdk (asmdisk2.vmdk asmdisk3.vmdk asmdisk4.vmdk asmdisk5.vmdk)
Corresponding raw devices: /dev/sdb (sdc sdd sde sdf)
    Corresponding partition: /dev/sdb1 (sdc1 sdd1 sde1 sdf1)
    Corresponding ASM disk: ASMDISK1 (ASMDISK2 ASMDISK3 ASMDISK4 ASMDISK5)
When I run Grid installer step 5 of 8, I select all of 5 ASMDISK as ASM disk group on step 5 of 8 in the Wizard.
The clusterware files are supposed to be stored in the ASM disk group.
But it seems that on step 4 of 8 in the Wizard, the installer install the Oracle Home /u01 into VM rac1 Hard Disk /dev/sda1 and get the above error message - not enough disk space.
    My questions are:
First, Why does the Installer store Oracle Home /u01 in /dev/sda1 because it should be in the Disk Group /dev/sdb1 (sdc1 sdd1 sde1 sdf1) ?
Second, Does the Installer go wrongly ?
Third, How to have the Installer store the clasterware files in ASM Disk Group ?
    Thanks.

  • Erroneous "insufficient disk space" error with WaveStudio 7

This has been bugging me for over 2 years. I get the "Insufficient disk space" error with Vista x32 and x64 and now with Windows 7 x64 when I've edited a wav file and then try to save it. I have plenty of disk space.
I've searched till I'm blue in the face but cannot find an answer and am tired of the lame work-around. I know how to copy and paste the entire edited wav into another file and then save it. It's annoying, but it works. What gets me is why is this not fixed?
Running CTWave.exe as administrator does not work. Running in Windows XP SP3 compatibility mode does not work.
I have been a faithful Creative Labs user for more years than I care to remember, but this one is shaking my faith. Is there anybody who can explain why this happens, or offer a fix?
Many thanks and keep on rockin',

    1. Make sure your computer has the latest Java runtime. To do this, just google search "Download Java", go to the first URL and download that free software. This step should solve most of the "insufficient disk space" problems.
    2. If step 1 failed to work, you can open "My computer", right click on the hard disk you were trying to write your files into. From the "File System" tab, check to see it's "NTFS" but not "FAT32".
    3. If the above two steps do not work, try creating a new partition from your primary hard disk. To do this, click "Start" -> then right click "My Computer" -> "Manage" -> "Disk Management" -> Make sure you shrink a new volume for at least 50 GB to 100 GB free disk space, again please have the NTFS file system. Once you successfully created this new partition, do a format then try writing your music files onto this Disk.
    4. I think the above 3 steps are able to solve your issue. However, there's a bug I found sometime back when Win 7 first released. You can try creating a "temp" folder in your primary system drive, writing any files in there should have no problem as long as disk space is sufficient.
    5. I certainly do not hope that error was caused by your anti-virus programme, but if all failed, you may want to consider temporarily disable your anti-virus software, and if everything works fine, you might want to switch to a new anti-virus programme.
    Cheers.

  • Aperture: "Insufficient Disk Space" alert with 370 GB Free

    Hello,
Since I use aperture on Mountain Lion, it's unpossible to import big folders anymore.
The folders named "2012" is on my network and has 7 400 files (560 GB). I import it with option "In Their Current Location", so, it's no copy nor move. After checking, computer says : Insufficient Disk Space. Need 100 GB more". But HD is 370 GB free and pictures aren't copied/moved to my HD !!!
With snow leopard, I don't have this prob, but Aperture update are no more available for SL.
I work on a IMac with 4GB RAM and HD 500 GB with a Mac Server of 15 TB.
    Any suggestion ?

Aperture 3.4.3 on Mountain Lion 10.8.2

    Ernie,
    1) Aperture library is on the internal HD with 370 GB Free. FS is Mac OS Extended (Journaled). The linked picture stays on a Mac Network fileserver with afolder per year. I make test with folder 2011 and folder 2012
    2) With LR, I don't import library from aperture but I import picture from folder 2012. And it's fine. LR library stays on the same HD/same partition than Aperture one.
    3) If I remove big TIFF file (273 MB) from 2012, it's OK.
    4) If I try to import 100 big TIFF File it's NOK : "Insuffisant disk space..."
    5) If I try to import 10 big TIFF File it's OK to import but zoom 1:1 gives a little picture.

  • INS-32021 : Insufficient Disk Space on volume for the selected Oracle Home

    Hi
I am trying to install Oracle 11g on my Red Hat Linux 5 (VMWare). I have completed all the pre-requisites realted to Kernel settings, creating groups, users, home and base directories. When I started running the 'runInstaller' and started the installation, it gave me an error saying...
'INS-32021 : Insufficient Disk Space on volume for the selected Oracle Home'.
Anyone any idea what is going on?

you haave to switch off vmware add new disk from vmware console. then using format tool you can add partition for unallocated space. and add them in volume.
space increase by adding new disk.

  • BitLocker Insufficient Disk Space

    Hi,
I am using Vista Ultimate and am using a USB flashdrive to BitLocker my C:
When Vista runs the BitLocker System Check, it returns with the error:
"Insufficient disk space for BitLocker Drive Encryption to encrypt the drive.
Use disk maintenance tools to repair the disk and try again"
But the message doesn't say how much space is needed, not what kind of space is needed (e.g. contiguous?), or on which partition.  so I don't know how to solve it.

  • CiscoWorks LMS Backup Failed - Insufficient Disk Space

    Hello,
I am experiencing backup failure on the LMS 3.2. Following is the message
Backup failed on 2010/08/14 at 23:11:11. REASON: Insufficient disk space on backup destination volume. Available Space is 65367892Kb and required space for backup is 78515097Kb.
Could you please assist as to why is 78GB of space required for the backup. The total size of main CiscoWorks folder 'CSCOpx' is only 33GB.
How can I identify which processes, folders are occupying more space thereby increasing the backup capacity. Also, are the previous backups, backed up again on subsequent runs. Please assist.
    Thanks.

The LMS backup destination partition needs twice the space the backup will take (plus 10%) to copy out the files first before archiving them in the backup.  Therefore, if the CSCOpx directory is 33 GB, your backup partition will require around 72 GB of free space.

  • Deduplication: There is insufficient disk space to perform the requested operation

    Hello,
on my Win2012R2 Fileserver is a 550GB disk with userdrives.
I startet Data Deplication but after 100 Optimized Files the job stopped and I cannot start it again.
If I check the Event Log I find:
Data Deplication could not initialize change log under \\?\Volume{ID}}.... The error code was 0x8056530a, There is unsufficient disk space to perform the requested operation. (Event ID 4119)
Then I tried to unoptimize the files with Start-DedupJob -type Unoptimization -volume "E:" but I got another error:
HRESULT 0x8056533a, This kon will not run at the scheduled time because it requires more memory than is currently available.
On the 550GB disk I have about 140GB free diskspace.
The server have 8GB RAM and use 2,3GB at the moment.
    CPU is at 0-2%
SYSTEM have full access on the drive, there is no SWAP or boot file on it.
    Any more ideas?
    I already tried a reboot... ;)
    Thanks.

  • Insufficient disk space time machine restore

I try to restore my complete system from a time machine backup, but I get an insufficient disk space error. What can I do?

The reason was that my iMac wouldn't startup after the 10.6.8 update. There was an error about a not good downloaded file (the 10.6.8 update package). After that message I only could  press the restart button, but the system didn't restart anymore.
I checked also with the shift, cmd, v option, and there were missing io-thing files, and after that the system stopped.
Then I took my Snow Leopard DVD, and booted from that disk. I choosed for restoring from a Time Machine backup, and picked the latest version, the night before. At that moment the restore procedure told me that there was not enough space on the destination disk.
I have a 500 GB disk with 2 partitions, 1 350GB for Mac OS, 1 150 GB for Boot Camp.
I have a 600GB external for my Time Machine backups, and the size of that folder was about 450GB. 150Gb of that external disk was free.
At this moment I have my system up and running. I took a Time Machine backup from a couple of days older. That version I could restore. Finaly, I missed maybe a very little bit of data, but I can live with that.
But I think it is very strange that I couldn't restore my latest Time Machine Backup.

  • Insufficient Disk Space Messages !!

On opening iMovie HD 5.02 I get a warning about disk space running dangerously low. I then try to add a title or effect a simple transition between two clips of a very short (10 min) series of imported clips and am told that I do not have enough remaining disk space for that operation. In fact I have 100 GB of free disk space. Advice please.

On opening iMovie HD 5.02 I get a warning about disk space running dangerously low.
That is the drive/partition where you saved your iMovie project when you created it. It doesn't matter how many gigs you have free on any other drive/partition.
